Pretty painless, decent car rental/car hire, very friendly staff; Seb (Sebastian I think his full name was, he was super friendly and helpful!)
Initially I was a little worried about renting a car in another country, especially Ireland and especially with Sixt as this was our first time renting with them and our first time renting a car outside of the USA. I've read tons of horror stories about the shoddy cars, rude staff, long waits and hidden fees that add up. While we did get a hold of $5,000 usd on our credit card because we chose to use our own insurance provided by our Chase credit card, it was actually released about 3 days after we got back so I was pleasantly surprised. No other hidden charges either and everything was strait forward and we got a decent car with no issues just a few scratches which were all documented. The only downside was that we landed in terminal 2 and we had to walk all the way over to terminal 1 because the rental desk was closed in terminal 1 (I guess due to covid staffing issues). I'd definitely recommend them and use them again if we are ever in Ireland! PS. Driving a manual on the other side of the road was crazy fun but man was it scary for the first few roundabouts lol.

My experience at the airport was great, but online it was good but could be better!
Airport: I had troubles with my flight already and since we booked the car under my husband's car and he wasn't there at the time, we had to refund the money and do a new booking - there was many troubles but due to my fault really!! Anyways - going forward, the lady helped me so much, her name was Francisca!! The car was nice and smooth! It was very clean, everything made sense, all in all it was a good experience.
Online: It is good, but could be better as in, giving you clear instructions on how to get to the rental car as there was 2 places showing on Google maps. Also, doesn't mention that you need a credit card to be able to secure a deposit for them incase of anything, as a first time person renting a card I didn't know that! Didn't know I needed the second driver's driver's license, it makes sense but you know, sometimes you don't think clearly!
All was good, great car, good service at the airport - definitely would be booking with them again! :D

I rented a car last Monday and boy did it have its problems. They are understaffed in busy times however even though I had to wait over two hours to get our car, it was upgraded and the manager and young guy, Dutch I think, tried their best.
In this pandemic time it’s necessary to have more patience however to management making decisions about supporting these staff you need to do better. It will only help you not having your staff quitting at a higher rate and will give customers a much better experience.

I was apprehensive based on the reviews I read but I can safely say it was a flawless experience. I was served by a very very helpful, polite and thoughtful young man named Mr. Depers. Our flight arrived a lot earlier than expected and rather than linger in the airport with 2 kids under 3, Mr Depers made a few calls, worked some magic and got us a bigger car, for the same price and it was ready in minutes. The entire process was easy, no hidden fees, no hidden charges and a very straight forward and easy return process. We had to stay an extra week and that was no problem either, very helpful lady on the phone charged us on the rate we booked and NOT the rate the car was on the day (which was slightly higher).We rent cars all the time when we travel and I can assure you we will definitely be going with Sixt again, and if in Dublin, ask for Mr. Depers.

The staff at the Sixt rental desk in the Dublin airport were phenomenal! They were so kind, professional, and welcoming. They were very understanding and patient and gave us great advice on some different option/choices that we had to make about our rental. The man who helped us, Paul, gave us great suggestions of things to see and do as well! You don't leave the counter feeling like you were ripped off, like you sometimes encounter with other companies. They were very helpful and informative with telling us how to drive on the opposite side of the road/car as well. Our car had a GPS included which was very helpful! The car was clean and in great condition as well! I would most definitely rent a car from Sixt in Dublin again!

Not the best rental experience. We had to walk a great distance with our luggage to and from the car hire. We waited outside for the shuttle. When it arrived the driver gave no preference to who was first in the queue and everyone just pilled their luggage in the back. I was travelling on vacation with my wife and toddler so this made the experience more challenging. Later I found out that I over paid for my vehicle but I guess thats an airport kind of supply vs demand.

I recently did a 10 day rental with Sixt Car Rental at Dublin Airport. “Carlow Joe” got me through the paperwork very efficiently without any drama and had me out the door in no time. Their rates are very competitive and I was not required to use a credit card to reserve online prior to pick-up. Their selection of cars was fantastic and I ended up with the Volkswagen T-ROC which was by far the best car I have rented in my 25+ years of renting cars.I highly recommend “Carlow Joe” and the Sixt team at Dublin Airport-you won’t be disappointed!

Quite dissapointed actually. We got in a little later and when we found the desk (eventually), the service guy looked confused and almost was unsure on giving us a car which was very odd. What's frustrated me most is trying to take me for a fool and claiming a Seat Arona is the same class as a Golf. It's not. I booked a Golf and was charged on that, yet was given a smaller car and picking the car up I noticed the Golf was a available. Be honest and give what people are booking rather than trying to shaft...trust goes a long way. Also, make sure you read the fact they'll "charge" you €40 for using your own insurance! Won't be using them again.

I rented a car through a competitor site only to have it given away as I was more than 59 mins late from my original requested time. Sixt were able to assist me in my moment of panic by giving me a rental car which was excellent and at a reasonable cost considering I did not have a booking with them. Collecting and returning the car was very straight forward. I will choose Sixt going forward rather than going through 3rd party sites.

The service myself and my Fiancé received @Dublin airport on Thursday 10:25pm from Sebastian blew me away and my Fiancé was in awe of how Sebastian had treated us. That man is a legend. We decided to give Sixt a try as we’d observed how they chat to their customers in a friendly way when we go to pick up our car from a different car rental. We had made a mistake in our booking, this man was able to help us sort it and also explained how we can get it done next time. Gave us his number to contact him to help us with booking our car next time if unsure. This man went above and beyond. If I owned a company, there’s no way I wasn’t offering Sebastian an amount he couldn’t resist to manage my customer service team because he’s won me over completely. It has been a perfect experience, we really enjoyed services from Sixt and we found in Leonardo a perfect and gentle operator that helped us since our arrival. We really advice Sixt, ask about Leonardo in their area inside the airport, he will give you a perfect assistance. Another time thank you.

I had a great experience with Sixt (Dublin Airport) from the moment I got to the Airport until the moment I dropped off the car! The staff was accommodating and friendly, the car was perfect and in excellent conditions and, the drop off was simple. The Service Sixt provided contributed to our pleasant and enjoyable Ireland experience, considering that we drove over 1000km during our stay.
A couple of things to keep in mind:
1) If renting a Car in Ireland, Sixt is one of the only Car rental companies in the country who rent out cars to drivers under the age of 25. You also need to expect and budget for a young drivers fees of approximately 39 Euros per day which seems like a lot but is pretty standard practice.
2) Most of the 1 Stars on here are people who claim to have been pressured into adding additional unwanted insurances or finding hiding fees. From my experience, the Sixt employee was very transparent in their products and Services. They naturally offered supplemental packages (WHICH YOU DONT HAVE TO TAKE), but that's just part of their job. I can say that there was never any pressure in doing so. All I had to say was "No thank you," and we moved on with no hard feelings.

We had a great experience with Sixt at the Dublin Airport. We arrived from the USA in the international terminal and only had to walk a short distance to the counter. The counter representative was very friendly and not pushy. We chose the Lucky Dip car and ended up with beautiful VW with all the bells and whistles.
Returning the car was also easy and friendly, they even refunded me for a day that I did not use because we decided to spend our last day in Belfast.

Great service. We hired a 9 seater minibus at Dublin airport and the service we received was fantastic. Sixt is my "go to" rental car company in Europe and this time has proven my preference. Good and prompt service (pick up was at the garage airport, which was convenient), great car availability getting the car I have requested (a small SUV - Peugeot 3008 - a great car). Return was seamless and quick, with efficient transfer back to airport. And the price was right for a 2 days rental. Tricky (but fun...) was to drive on very narrow roads of the beautiful Wild Atlantic Way, on the right side and with manual transmission on my left side....

I have rented with SIXT several times on my trips and the reason for choosing SIXT was their transparency on price and the quality of the car.
It was my first trip to Ireland and Dublin Airport Sixt was quite busy when I arrived. Compared with the other rental companies Sixt was actually the most crowded one, probably due to their -25% OFF promotions lately which I was also using. I was slightly disappointed when I got the car, it was a CADDY and not an GALAXY as per website. The boot was adequate as I was traveling with 4 people instead of the 2 normally, which was my main concern. The car drove well and was very economically which was a plus.
After 2 days a light lit up on the instrument panel and I had to look it up in the manual. The ADBLUE light was on, which mean the ADBLUE reservoir (In the engine compartment )needs to be topped up. ADBLUE is an additive to lessen the impact of the emissions of the diesel. I have never seen this before and had no clue, according the manual the car can drive normally for 1000KM but then it will not start unless you top-up the ADBLUE reservoir. I called the SIXT help line and was told the same. As I was 1/3 in my trip I had no clue how many km I would be driving, and the risk of not able to start the car not so good. I choose the latter and was told I could get the cost reimbursed. A jug of ADBLUE was about 21EURO, the guy at the fuel station could not help me as he had no experience, neither did it. I watched some video on youtube and it was much more hassle in real due to the fact the jug leaked and I then had to wear gloves and the ADBLUE was corrosive. But after filling it up the ADBLUE did go away ! No more problems and I drove more than 1000km.
On return of the car, a damage on the left wing mirror support was noted. (not on the damage form when collecting the car)
Which was odd to me, as I did not hit anything during my use. Luckily I always take picture when I collect the car and could prove the damage was already there when I got the car, so the guy did not charge me which he tried, although I have full insurance .
So the latest experience with Sixt has left me with some mixed feelings due to the car ADBLUE light and when returning the car.

I am over in Dublin for work every month and always rent a car. I had previously rented with another big brand rental company that conned me out of several hundred euros in additional costs at the end of the rental period. Therefore, I decided to stay clear of them and give Sixt a try.
This was my first rental with Sixt Dublin airport. Pick up process was speedy and friendly. I was offered a vehicle upgrade to a brand new Range Rover at a very low cost. The return experience was also good however, my only concern was that they do not give you a receipt and instead state that they will email to you. This is very concerning. With any rental company they make you sign upfront as acknowledgement that you are taking the vehicle into your possession and that you are solely responsible for it yet when you return it Yet, as a customer, you have no proof that you returned it undamaged or filled with fuel. Not very comforting. In fact I never received a receipt until I emailed the next day requesting one. Other than that I would highly recommend Sixt Dublin Airport.

The car I got was fantastic - I was even lucky enough to get an upgrade on what I had booked. And lastly what I liked most was knowing the total price I was paying. I've been a regular user of Sixt for a couple of years since I signed up for their loyalty card and found the prices with that usually beat any other options. I've used them in multiple countries and have been impressed with the customer service each time. I've never felt as if there was a push to get me to sign up for extras I don't need and I like that.
The Dublin airport branch was most recent, staff were friendly and apart from a minor computer failure, the whole process, pick up and drop off was quick. The shuttles back to the terminal were regular and quick. Pretty important when dropping off at an airport. The one issue that has come up a bit with Sixt is the car requested is rarely what I selected and the replacement offered not up to the same level. I understand getting other makes/models is common, but I know a bit about cars and can tell when what is offered is similar in class or not. Usually when I point this out, they take care of it and find something else. Other than that, I am very happy with their service.

Picked up our car here and dropped a week later in center Dublin. Great experience, car was in good state (brand new ;-) and we were even given a upgrade. Receiving the car was very easy, with a lot of comfort. Dropping the car was to me a bit uneasy as we left without any receipt/prove of return, which was common for them.
Besides that the price was also good compared to the other companies.
Finally as we used once a the support, we received a very good and constructive feedback. So yes I will certainly recommend and hire again.

Had a great experience with Sixt Dublin Airport. We had some trouble arranging the car before travelling to Dublin but even without reservation we had a car within half an hour.

Following a bad experience with another car rental company, I have found Sixt Car rental at Dublin Airport very good to hire from. The quality of the car provided has been superb. The staff have been professional, courteous and very helpful. When I realised that the original car that I had requested would not suit my trip, they happily accommodated a change of my booking and provided me with a number of options with pros and cons outlined.
Following long flights prior to the rental, the process of obtaining and dropping off the car was hassle free at the various pick up points.

I'm a frequent traveller and rent cars quite often. This was my first experience with Sixt and it was very positive. Once I got the complementary shuttle bus to their remote office, only a short distance away, the pickup was smooth. Since I was clear on the contract and that I needed my credit card for the insurance deposit, there was no hassle or sales pitch which was nice. They have a nice modern pickup office, good queuing system, and friendly staff.The car was fine and a good size for a family of 5, a Toyota Corolla. I'll definitely consider Sixt again when renting.

We had a great experience with Sixt in Dublin that started with the shuttle from the terminal all the way back to shuttle to the terminal on our drop off. At pick up, Ray was very professional and engaging. He got our trip off to a good start. The vehicle was clean and ran perfectly. We had no problems and always felt confident driving the Seat Ateca. Our return was seamless and quick. The only thing that seems a bit odd is that we didn't receive any documentation or receipt when we dropped it off. It might just be something that comes with renting cars in the U.S., but we walked away wondering if the process was complete. I haven't seen any additional charges or claims appear on my statement, but would like to have a receipt verifying that when I return it.

Great experience with this car rental company! It was easy to book a car online and easy to get from the Dublin airport to the car lot with friendly help from the airport desk. The chap at the desk at the car lot could not be more accommodating. I was able to negotiate an upgrade at a very reasonable rate and I didn't have a question that wasn't answered professionally and with a smile. The car was clean and full of fuel and handled brilliantly. When dropping off the car at Dublin City Centre the attendant was courteous and friendly. Melissa at the Sixt Rental in Dublin Airport was so amazing and helped us greatly. The booking was very easy, the van was clean and in good shape and fit us perfectly, pick up, drop off was so quick. Once Sixt looked at our van, we were immediately shuttled to the terminal, we did not have to wait at all. From booking online, pick up and drop off, I would highly recommend Sixt! The only thing that did not work well for us was the GPS we rented for the 2 weeks, Google Maps on my phone was much simpler.

The car firstly offered was not to our liking and a suitable alternative was found with no fuss. Guidance was given to find our destination. After the car was return the hand back took minutes and the transfer was minutes after that. Far superior an experience to the service provided by a company I have used for years.

Overall I was happy with the car and service. The reception at the airport could have been better. Having queued at the desk I was told to get the shuttle bus and do the paperwork at the depot. it took about another 10 mins before the shuttle arrived. Service at the depot was good although a bit pushy with the additional insurance. The car was a 2 year old model but worked perfectly. I would use Sixt service again.

Overall, a pretty good experience with Sixt picking up from Dublin airport and returning same place. Getting our key was pretty easy (car rental is a short shuttle away from airport) and our car was very nice and clean and did not smell like cigarette smoke. Since we were new to driving on the left side of road, there was plenty of information advising us on safety and what to look for. That was appreciated. I deducted one star because the car ran low on coolant early on in the trip and we had to go to two different places looking for engine coolant. I would book with Sixt again.

My friends and I rented a car from the Dublin Airport for our road trip around Ireland. Being under 25, Sixt was the only company we could rent from. Overall the experience was very good, Mr. Saini was very helpful, gave us a lot of tips on driving, and was super friendly! We are so glad that we were able to rent a car because the trip was so much more enjoyable being able to do our own thing, so thank you for making that possible Sixt. The only problem was there were some hidden fees, like if you buy the top coverage, you also have to pay for theft. The underage driver fee was also pretty hefty, but like I said we were just glad we were able to get a car for our trip. Would definitely rent with Sixt again.

The rental office was conveniently located to where we were staying in Dublin. However, no exterior signs to help locate from street. Was able to locate from gps from website. Agent renting car was extremely personable and helpful. Made experience fairly stress free. Rental rate was very reasonable, but not accustomed to buying insurance on rental cars in U.S., so that increased the cost considerably, but I was glad I had it and understand why it is necessary to have it when not otherwise covered. Also purchased GPS system rather than relying on phone gps system (recommended by Rick Steves). It worked very well. Minivan was in excellent condition - very clean inside and was the perfect size for our group of 5 with luggage. Minivan operated perfectly with no mechanical issues whatsoever. Amazed at the good mileage we got on a single tank using diesel fuel - very cost effective! Return at the airport was easy and convenient with good shuttle service to the terminal. All in all, an excellent experience renting with Sixth!

I've used this company two years ago. Appalling. I used them again, January 2017. FABULOUS. Great staff, helpful , friendly with great banter. Very good price. I paid daily insurance due to weather conditions. I was upgraded to a new car of the model I'd booked. Returning the car, the attendant found 30 euros belonging to my grandson. He came over to the shuttle bus area and gave it to him. How honest is that? I'm totally impressed by the Dublin airport crew.

Despite many online chat rooms that complained of poor service, my experience with SixT was great. The agent that processed the rental at the Dublin airport was friendly and helpful. There was no problem waiving CDW for my credit card coverage (I did have the letter confirming coverage from the CC company). The van was delivered to the airport so we didn't have to shuttle to retrieve it. Returning it was relatively quick and simple. I would not hesitate to rent with them again.

Our flight got in to Dublin around 4:00am & Robert was super helpful! We were a bit confused about the insurance and pre-authorization, but other than that we sailed through check in pretty quickly and were on the road shortly after. I was very pleased with my rental experience. The vehicle provided was exactly what was indicated when I booked on their web site and the car was in very good condition. Also no hassle using my credit card insurance coverage as long as you come prepared with a letter from your card company and recognize that they are going to make a 5000 Euro credit hold. This was a much better experience than with other rental companies at this airport. For example, when I attempted to rent from Budget - I found their cars to be totally unacceptable (dirty, most had damage, much smaller than the vehicle indicated in their web site). Although Budget had some better cars on their lot, when I inquired about those vehicles they said that all the better cars were held for Avis customers.

We were very pleased with our experience with Sixt car rental service. The shuttle was available immediately at the airport to take us to the lot to retrieve our car. The wait time at the service desk was reasonable and Sebastian was more than helpful. Once we found out this would be our first experience with driving on the left side of the road, he took the time to go over the rules of the road and gave us some genuinely useful tips (such as not turning on red lights like we can in the States). He was clear about our options for additional coverage and pricing. Fortunately we did not need to make use of roadside assistance or the insurance we had purchased; however, we had all the contact numbers we would have needed had anything happened. Dropping the car off was a far simpler process than we had expected and the shuttle driver was again very helpful and took us to the back of the airport to meet our bus to the hotel so we did not have a long walk. We will definitely use Sixt again when we return to Europe and would recommend them to anyone visiting.

The reason I don't give 5 stars is that their policies are a bit vague or at least not the same on the contract and when talking to an adviser over the phone. This made the waiting time for getting our deposit back longer than expected. Altogether positive experience, though and I would use Sixt again.

Got a better car than I had booked with only 5k miles on it, check in was fast but they were not busy. Was a few tiny scratches - brought the guy over from returns to write them up - each car has a yellow slip they can add things too.

Pick-up was convenient, friendly and helpful. Transfer from Pick-up to the parking lot war badly organized with a 40 min. delay. Returning was terrible, with a Queue of about 10 cars and an unfriendly and chaotic guy ordering customers around without sense. We were ordered to put our vehicle extremely close to the other customer's, so this could have led to damage quite easily. The rest of the staff was great and Sixt charged very moderate Service Charge for refueling even though we did not prepay the fuel. I will rent with Sixt again, but they really should do something about their return situation.

The Dublin airport desk staff are wonderful and for a couple of times now they've waited beyond their work hours, late night to still get me a car (due to the late flights arrival).
The staff working at the car return facilities don't provide de same service quality and sympathy, too bad as it could be an easy 4 star rating. Why is the return car procedure so much more time taking and complicated when looking to other sixt agencies/locations?

Easy booking.
Quick service at the airport, we barely queued 5min : they give you the keys and then a dedicated (free) shuttle bus takes you to the Sixt parking to collect the car. Very appreciated.
We had booked a Golf Volkswagen and got a Toyota Auris, it was a great car : hybrid motor, alarm when you move away from the lines on the road, camera for parking.
Of course, read all conditions carefully. And finalise your booking in advance on the website once you received the email notification.

We reserved a car from SIXT, but because of the size of the car, we had to go pick it up outside the terminal.
Some details with the car were a little off (windshield cleaning fluid was absent, and a tire was punctured because we had to rebalance the air in the tires 5 times over 11 days). But it was, as usual, great service.
Wish they would have told us about the letter from our home based car insurance (Website problem), as that would have saved us quite a lot of money. I give them 4 stars because even though the car was a good car and was able to carry all the baggage of 6 adults and two small kids; and the local service was good, those little details are very annoying.

Sixt went above and beyond. My local licence had expired however i had the formal temporary licence (considering how long South Africa takes to reissue licence cards)
Other car hire vendors were unwilling to assist however Sixt were capable of doing a little bit of digging and some analysis and determined the legitimacy of the licence. After that everything was plain sailing.
The price was more than fair for what we rented and the terms taken. Will absolutely use them again.

Happy with the overall service, though the representative was aggressively pushing for additional insurance coverage, which I declined. They said they needed a written confirmation from my credit card company on file. A half hour later, I was able to get a confirmation letter by email from my credit card company, which I presented to Sixt. All of a sudden the representative was OK with it and didn't bother or request to have a copy on file...I though the whole process was very suspect, but once this was resolved I was on my way and the service at the delivery counter was fine. It's too bad that I had to waste my time doing this and feel this was not necessary.

Based on my positive experiences with Sixt in Europe and USA over the years, I had no qualms about booking with Sixt for Ireland. I had read all of Sixt's small print and had no surprises about prices or insurance. Instead, my problems were with Sixt services.
First, I had reserved a car with GPS, and I received a Garmin instead of a car with GPS (unlike all my other rentals). The Garmin had not received its 2018 updates and would not hold a charge without being plugged into the car.
Second, when one drops of a Sixt car at Dublin City Centre, there is no one to check the car in -- one simply hands the keys to a uniformed agent at the front desk and gets no receipt. If there are any problems, one finds out later, which is what happened to me.
About 26 hours after handing my keys to the Dublin City Centre agent, I was shocked to receive an email saying my car had just been returned to Belfast and its fuel was at 5/8 instead of 8/8. Luckily, I was still in Dublin and was able to talk to the Dublin City Centre Manager in person. He was very pleasant and helpful.
I had the paperwork for the Manager to piece together the details. The problem was that I did not take the assigned car and asked for and got a different one. The change was not recorded. This meant that when I dropped off the car, Sixt had no idea who had left the car, and the email I received was associated with the originally-assigned car. The Manager corrected Sixt's records and gave me a photo of the check-in information.
All is well now, but I will always get proof of return from now on.

Good service! No line to wait to pick up my car. Gave me an option of a few cars in the class I wanted and the one I picked had A/c even though I hadn't paid for that when booking. Car drove well and was an easy process to hand it back.
Only downside was that someone who had had the car before me had clearly crashed it into something, big scrapes along the back left panel and bumper which Sixt hadn't bothered to repair. Was slightly self conscious about that the whole time.

There can be long queues at certain times but they do their best to help everyone fast without rushing through it. The cars were always spotless and the damage was always indicated on the papers in the car so we were sure they would not blame it on us. Sixt staff were courteous and welcoming. At the airport they helped direct folks with reservations to the coach that took us to their rental offices where all the cars are kept. The coach was clean and efficient. At the rental office we had to wait thirty minutes in line before we were helped. The gentleman helping us and his trainee were very accommodating and welcoming and knowledgeable. We learned we had not elected insurance. He explained there was a fee mandated by the state if we didn't have insurance. Had we not elected to purchase insurance we would have had to pay a significant sum (160€). Our man helped guide us through the different options with skill and humor and offered to upgrade our car in the end, which was kind of a double edged sword because we got more room and horsepower but less gas efficiency and we planned to tour all of Ireland, so petrol can add up. The entire process took an hour between when we stepped off the coach to when we received the keys.

Maybe others had a bad experience with this rental but not me. I had a problem with my credit card but the lady at the reception was patient and really helpful. I got my keys from mint condition and clean Seat Leon. No problems with the whole journey (apart from driving left... :) and no problem with return of the vehicle either. Maybe the pre-paid gas was a little bit pricey but i recommend everyone to prepay this service as you dont have to worry about the gas tank at the return.

The car was as advertised, but automatics in Europe are very expensive, which is kind of inconvenient since I live in an area of the US where you only drive automatic. Customer service was pretty good, but when my flight was delays 24 hours and I inquired about extending my rental a day I was quoted a ridiculous price (over 130 euros for a day) so I ended up returning it as originally planned.

Overall experience was good. My only gripe is the cleanliness of the vehicle. I'm not sure what the reason is for leaving driver side windows open as I noticed several cars were like this in the parking lot. But unfortunately mine had water stains pretty much everywhere on the inside of the vehicle and to top things off, a squashed dead bug on the inside of my windscreen with its guts smeared across the glass. Not a deal breaker, but it does make you wonder how much they care about the customers experience.

We had a really good experience with Sixt at Dub airport. The turn around at pick-up was really quick and it felt as though they were fully prepared for busy season (August). We had an issue with the driver's seat of the car so we went back and they swapped the car straight away.

I am a regular car rental for my travels, yet never had rented from Sixt before. I needed to rent for the next day, and to the contrary from some other agencies, Sixt allowed me to do that online. All speedy and very user friendly online, and also the same for the process at the agency as well. All done in 5 minutes, literally, and out of the door you go.
Returning is even easier and quicker, just park and leave the keys on the way out. That's it!

The Bad: Had to fill in a form despite being a longtime Sixt card holder and cleared for Express check-out. SA tried to sell me insurance, which I politely declined. SA lectured about the blocking of Eur 1500 like I did not have that kind of credit. After learning about my credit card covering any damages the SA started to lecture me about the process of claims etc like I was a first time customer. My rent was prepaid in full so I did not check the invoice before cuing for the shuttlebus. I then noticed that the SA had added "top cover" insurance at Eur 11 a day. Rushing back to the counter to correct this I then missed the shuttlebus and had to wait 20 minutes for the next. No excuse or explanation was given.

However, when picking up the car keys, the staff did not inform us properly regarding "compulsory" and "nice to have" insurances. Upon asking which insurances are really "compulsory" the staff gave incorrect and incomplete information.

Great service. I would recommend taking photos of all areas of the car before you drive it away - in my case, there was a scuff on one of the alloy wheels when I returned it, but luckily I had taken a photo when I collected the car that showed the same scuff already there. Would have been useful to be given a map of where the nearest petrol station is, to return the car with a full tank. (It's not far, but it was a fiddly route!) And my rental was with "Flizzr", but it took me a while to work out from the car rental desks that this was part of Sixt - a bigger "Flizzr" sign may be better. But overall, the service was fast and friendly, and the car was great. Would definitely use again.

Dublin is among the worst airports in the world, no doubt about it, but Sixt is ray of light and hope for all travelers through it. The car they gave us when a little banged up, for example the back seat was broken and couldn't go down and the gas gage was broken, but overall the car worked great and it was a smooth experience.

Car was good - just one year old and in good condition (and very competitive price for a VW Passat). There was one issue (with the car door) which I only noticed after I had made my first journey in it, but on return the Sixt inspector took my word that it was there when I initially took the car (extra star for that!). Only downside was a bit of a wait to do the initial paperwork and get the keys.

The main reason we loved using Sixt for our trip to Ireland was that they allowed us to rent from them even though we were both younger than 25 years old. Although our rental ended up being more expensive because of our age, it was worth it because most other companies wouldn't let us rent at all due to age. We especially loved the employee who checked us in right when we landed off our plane. His name was Joe, and he and all the other staff sitting at the Sixt Kiosk were very involved in helping plan our sightseeing trip. As an American I was worried about driving on the other side of the road but the girl at the front desk gave me a driving guide that was very helpful and some kind encouragement and advice. Also, our car was not equipped with a navigation system so we rented a handheld GPS unit that was invaluable. On the whole, I would definitely rent a vehicle from Sixt again.

After some correspondence our problem could be solved and we got the full amount refunded. Initial Situation:
We booked a rental car for a week at Sixt Ireland at Cork Airport in June. There was no handover of the car. We had to search and control the car on a large parking lot. As requested by SIXT, within the first 30 minutes we had sent pictures showing various scratches via email to a SIXT service email address.
When returning the car, the car was not checked by SIXT and we had to park it a parking lot.
After three weeks (!) we received an email from SIXT that the car had scratches that we should have caused. Interestingly, the scratches were listed in a handwritten appendix, but without sending proofs (pictures, etc.). In addition, we were told that 300 euros will be deducted from the credit card. Incidentally, the money was already debited before we received an e-mail.
We have already contacted SIXT twice (the gentleman from whom the e-mail was sent and the general SIXT info address) and are still waiting for an answer.
That would have been expected from a reputable provider. In our eyes, SIXT has completely failed here.
We advise you to be careful with the car transfer and return at SIXT!
We will certainly not book with SIXT again. A pity, but it's a lesson to us ...

The car was very good, new, with less than 3K kilometers. It was clean and work fine. However, it did not have an A/C neither a choice to recycle air (yeah I would have used in in Ireland!, it was really hot the days I was there).
The main problem was that I didnt notice that a CREDIT card is needed and MUST be owned by the MAIN driver, for whom the reservation is made. I did had a debit card but in order to pick the car up I needed to pay an extra 174 euros, corresponding to full insurance for 5 days. At first they "gave" me another option which was to call RyanAir (from which the reservations was made) and ask them either to change it to another company that can accept debit card (although later I was informed that this is an Irish law, not a Sixt rule) or change the main driver (to my mother which had a driving license and a credit card). Then the ryanair guy asked to speak with the sixt guy and then I was informed that the time of the reservation had past so it was either give 174 euros extra or nothing (no refund). Since I already had given an amount for the reservation I chose to pick the car up...

Superb with Flizzr re Sixt at Dublin Airport. Previously booked through Argus as gave the best rate..£205 for 7 days..Fiesta Grade. Got to airport.straight on to the shuttle bus..a few minutes to car hire location for all companies. No queue..the guy was really fast and efficient and I was given a free upgrade to a Renault Captur..Diesel..so more economical as well. Got back for early flight back to Liverpool..around 5.50am..no queue again..guy checked car over..said fine and that was it done! Massive deposit of over £1500..apparently Southern Ireland is super expensive for car insurance..did my own car excess insurance..obviously far cheaper..and the credit card retention came off in around 48hours from my card. Read some not so great stories about Flizzr but at Dublin Airport excellent service and price!

I would like to particularly give a shout out to the Branch Manager, Declan O'Flaherty who went above and beyond the call of duty in assisting me with getting the required insurance letter from my credit card company. This was in the midst of a busy Sunday morning, where there was a continual line of folks getting their rental cars. When my phone did not work, Declan kindly offered to use his phone to call my credit card company and coached me through what I needed to get from them, and in a few minutes he got the required letter via email and we were on our way. The car we got was in great shape, clean and easy to drive. The return was also very easy and I would definitely recommend the courteous and helpful staff in this branch.

Sixt provided us with a diesel VW van which was large enough but not so large to make driving difficult--just right. The car had 70,000 km on it but it ran well with no problems and it had plenty of power to carry us all over the south for a wonderful holiday experience. Rented a car from Sixt for 5 days for a road trip from dublin to the west coast and then back again. I rented an automatic small car since I was worried about driving on the opposite side of the road for the first time and I am glad I chose the automatic cause it made the trip so much easier but I think it would have been fine with both. Very helpful staff at the desk that even gave me recommendations for things to do in Galway! I chose to add insurance while at the check in desk which made me worry less during the rental (even though nothing happened but it's nice with the peace of mind).
The roads in Ireland especially on the countryside was very narrow so I'm glad i got a small car as it was easy to get around. If you're planning on doing a roadtrip make sure you bring cash (coins) for the tolls, you pay in booths along the way.
All in all I had an awesome experience with Sixt Ireland, it was easy to find the desk at the airport, easy to pick up the car, easy to return and everything worked perfectly! Thank you Sixt!

I am under the age of 26 so SIXT was my only option for car rental from dublin airport. After reading the reviews on here I started having major anxiety about the trip and renting the car. I am posting here to say THEY ARE NOT THAT BAD AT ALL. Overall, I had a positive experience. We were able to pick up the car quickly, the passenger side of the car was severely damaged but I just grabbed an associate and she wrote up a damage report and signed it and we were on our way. The car worked great and drop off was quick and painless. The deposit for insurance was back on my card within 48 hours of returning the car.
My only complaint was that there is a fee for literally everything you can think of, including making a slight adjustment to pick up time, also I had made the decision to do a $300 deductible for the insurance and paid for it ahead of time and was told upon pick up that since I was under 26 I had to have the $1500 deductible, it was irritating and if anything had happened to the car and I had to pay $1500 instead of $300 I would have been annoyed, but that was just a minor hiccup.
Overall, don't let the other reviews scare you, as long as you read the contracts and make sure you are detail oriented about everything you will be fine!!

Had a one way rental Dublin city \ Cork airport. Service was good. However, fuel tank had less than ½ full but shown sa 318 on teh statement. When asked it was explained the indicated number was 318/800 or about 40%, therefore I only had to fill up to the same level on veh return. Seem like a good idea but would be difficult to gauge at such measure. Would be much easier to just do a top up to full. More likely there will be excessive fuel on return. It was more than 50% in our case. A bad policy against the driver!

I was very worrisome about renting from sixt, that something was bound to go wrong with our rental especially after the airline did not get our bags to Dublin. He was full of cheer and even upgraded us to a bit of a larger vehicle since my husband is tall like him he said at no additional charge, the car had all we needed GPS, a toll scan where I could just drive through tolls and get charged later. They gave us all the information we needed and made it an easy process.We drove all over Ireland and back. Yea be aware they do hold over $5K on your card but it does fall off a few weeks after you return so make sure you have those funds available and if you can get insurance through your credit card company and present the letter on paper to them you will save quite a bit. The car was good but as ever, had more scuffs on it than stated in the original paperwork. We took photos of the extra damage. When we returned the car one of these extra scuffs was pointed out to us- but we advised that it was there when we picked it up and that we had a photo if needed- the guy said that was fine - so all ok. Sixt/Flizzr have relatively good and straightforward car rental, fast service, OK cars.
Coule of gotchas: Make sure to inspect the car when you get it, as vehicle damage report is often blank. If scratches - make pictures and send to their checkout email WHEN PICKING UP THE CAR, else they won't accept this.
Make sure to have a CREDIT card with you if you don't want to pay an exorbitant insurance fee.
If travelling on M50, you can pay tolls yourself and send receipts to their customer service. Else they're charging you 58% extra for admin fee and they're NOT telling you that there is a way to avoid being charged, which is a really poor business practice (other rental companies on the block there are more honest about it). That's the main reason for 3 stars actually :)

We used SIXT's dublin airport folks for our trip to ireland. We chose them because of their rates (cheapest). It took a about 20 mins (including line waiting) to get our car details sorted out. Then a 10 minute ride by their shuttle bus to the off-airport car park (seems that all the rental agencies are centralized outside the airport). We were lucky in that we arrived during a non-busy time as we got our car almost immediately. We had to install the car seats ourselves (insurance reasons according to the representative). Car was a KIA SUV and it was clean and perfect for a family of 4. Directions in/out of the are were clear but I recommend you make sure you have GPS on your phone. Overall good value for the money.

After paying online, we paid additional charges at the desk for services that were "required" although not indicated on the website. The staff was very friendly and the car worked great. Had to hire a van last week to clear out my house, collect some beds, appliances and furniture around Dublin and take a few trips to the dump.
Shopped around and got a great rate from Sixt. Got there on Saturday morning and the van was ready to go with a very quick and friendly checkout. Spotless VW van and everything worked perfectly. A full day and the following morning of lugging stuff around and trips to the dump and collecting some new bits and had no problems with the van, a pleasure to drive.
Swept out the van and left it back on Sunday, Was concerned about charges as I was a bit over time for return. Filled up with diesel and left it back at the office. Guy behind the counter was very friendly and said not to worry about the time, which was a relief
Would 100% recommend using Sixt for a hire again. Never realised you could get a van for the weekend so cheap, would really recommend it to anyone getting new appliances or furniture as the cost of hiring the van was not much more than 1 delivery charge, I probably saved a couple of hundred in waste disposal and delivery fees by organising a full day of collections and trips. Just wrapped up a two-week rental in Dublin; covered a lot of ground. The rental vehicle - a VW Tiguan, I believe - was practically new and loaded with features that were particularly helpful in Ireland. Adaptive cruise control is great on the motorways (the multi-lane 'M' roads). The smartphone connectivity (both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay) made navigation and media integration a snap. The insurance laws are tough in Ireland - turns out your US auto policy will not cover you. If you get to the Wild Atlantic Way, the roads are so narrow, it's almost impossible to escape without a couple of dings. The zero-deductible turned out to be a great bet. Also the fuel option, in view of the lines at the pump, was the right choice as well. The agent who set us up was extremely gracious and patient with his explanations. My first experience with SixT - they did an outstanding job!

It was a separate very dated unit thet probably would have costed less to buy new than to rent. I would expect a modern in car navigation for the price I paid for it.

On arrival at the airport you head for what is the Sixt Car rental desk.When we got there we were told head to the Bus stop outside where we would be taken to the Sixt office which is a short ride from the airport and in fact is the best way to do it as you avoid having to get out of the airport in what may be an unfamiliar car.During this time all of the staff from the chap at the Sixt office to the actual bus driver were just fantastic really helpful and polite.At the Sixt office it was clean bright and well laid out so the actual paperwork was swift and very efficent. The chap i dealt with was funny and informative and made the whole experience a pleasure.I hire all over the world and i am tired of hire company staff trying to sell me over priced excess insurance whereas this chap offered it to me but took my explanation that i already have my own at face value without the usual list of horror stories of what can happen if i dont take their extortionate excess insurance.The car itself was exactly what i paid for it was clean and modern with a full tank.My return was as seamless as my arrival the staff were prompt and courteous and the bus back to the terminal took eight minutes and was also clean and comfortable.Thank You Sixt i shall rent again with You
