Reviews of Rainbow Hostel
A totally brilliant week spent at Rainbow Hostel,Carmel and Mattie are brilliant hosts and very welcoming.Hostel is spotless, wood burning stove in the evening, hosts very informative on what to do in the area, top place to stay in Doolin.
This was a great hostel. The kitchen was bright and airy, with a patio out back. The common area was inviting with comfy couches and a fire. The dorm and bathroom were very clean. The host cares and is shows. She was wonderful. Highly recommend this place. It is at the quiet end of town, a 40 minute walk from the pier. But the 350 bus stops right out front which is handy.
Lovely small, intimate hostel. Rooms perfectly clean and good size . Beds really comfortable and clean also bathroom spotless. Kitchen perfect size and clean. Loved the sitting room. Loved the open fire and the underfloor heating in the bedroom, when in bed was really cosy Staff really nice and so helpful. Overall I loved it and would go back/recommend it. Felt like I was at home .♥️
We first stayed in Rainbow hostel about 8 years ago and while doing a trip around Ireland, I knew that I had to stay there again while visiting that side of Ireland. The people working at the hostel are so nice and helpful. The prices are great and Carmel baked fresh scones in the morning for breakfast which were delicious! I highly recommend!
Super Hostel, so friendly and homely, Carmel is great and so helpful. Location could not be better. 5*
Very nice and cosy place. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the host was really friendly and helpful. The bus from Ennis stops right in front of the hostel. I would totally recommend Rainbow Hostel for a stay at the Irish West Coast.
This was a very clean and well laid out hostel. It was close to a lot of good attractions and sites making it even better. One problem was that the windows were really low so at one point someone peered into the room and so us all
Don't even think of going to another Hostel or B&B, wonderful breakfasts and hosts, cozy atmosphere. Communal spaces for sitting around the hearthfire at night, generous self-catering kitchen, comfy beds, clean, bright bathrooms. If you're there without a car or want to do the walk there one way, the bus to the cliffs of Moher leaves just a few paces out the door, and you couldn't be closer to the pubs and café.
This small hostel is cosy and it is very well-equipped. It is quite competitive with this price in a small town.
However 1 star has been deducted because they mentioned that booking directly with them is the cheapest way but it isn't true.
When I contacted with them directly, they offered me €2 higher than that offered in the booking agent website.
Very accommodating and friendly staff, and the the coziest lounge you could dream of. Comfy beds. I do wish they'd put white noise machines in the rooms because when someone gets up to use the bathroom in the middle of the room it's a bit noisy, you can hear any little noise. But really this is minor and overall it's such a lovely experience! You feel like you've been invited into someone's warm, inviting home. It's so nice that the bus stop is right outside the door! If I find myself in Doolin again, I'll certainly be staying here.
Cosy and familiar hostel. Don't need to say much I guess, the location is great for exploring the Burren region including the Cliffs of Moher.
The vibes are extremely relaxed here; I had only paid the booking deposit (5%?) and nobody ever asked me to pay the remaining amount until I checked out a couple days later.
Breakfast includes all you need to be happy (Toast, self baked little awesome bread, coffee, tea, muesli, ...).
Just don't forget to bring your travel adaptor if you need one since the sockets are Ireland standard (same as UK).
Simple but good hostel in Doolin. Perfect to have a nice walk (about two hours) to the Cliffs of Moher. The Owner is very nice and gave us a great recommendation for the evening. Just ask him, if your are not sure which pub is the best for the evening.
Lovely hostel. Great facilities.
I booked a room through Hostelworld but had to cancel the booking. The owner was very kind and didn't charge for whole payment. Just make sure to cancel through Hostelworld 1 day prior to arrival. And don't forget to contact the owner directly to make sure all is fine. I would definitely go there next time.
This hostel is the only one open in the off seasons im this area that I could find. The staff is really nice and friendly. It's within walking distance of a great pub and it's really close to the cliffs. I'd recommend staying here
The place is very, it's like staying in a little cabin. The servir is very good, all the people are very nice. The breakfast is simple (bread, cereal, Coffee), and there's a pub and a Coffee Shop 1min walking.

So friendly, we had our own ensuite room, great value, fire was lit plently of communal space to relax and meet other people staying, fully equipped kitchen if needed lovely atmosphere.
The best Hostel in Ireland. That is because Mattie and Carmel. The byword for lovely and friendly people. We love them and the Rainbowhostel. Great places around. Listen to the owners. They have great advices.
rainbow hostel is a lovely place with a great kitchen and the sweetest people. the owners are both so kind and helpful. Mattie is amazing! LOVE HIM.
We had a pwrfect stay there. Its absolutely the best place in doolin. I hope for you that you will aldo have some live musician who are staying there. That made our evening fantastic. The owner is also very helpful! The cliffs walk is a must do!
Ultra clean and friendly hostel. Comfortable beds and nice amenities. Gracious hosts and lots of options for breakfast. Highly recommended
Nice place to stay, staff really helpful. Absolutely amazing town with live music in the pubs, some of the best in Ireland. Highly recommend staying there.
Great little hostel with well equipped kitchen and lovely hosts. Easy walk to a couple of lively pubs for some live Irish music.
A good place in Doolin, close to great pubs for traditional music and to rest if you want to walk to the Cliffs. Staff is non intrusive but will make sure you have a hot fire for the evening
Very cozy lounge with warm fire. Friendly staff. Clean organized kitchen. Loved how the hostel was painted.
We had a lovely stay at the Rainbow Hostel. Greeted by the lovely Carmel whom took the time to talk to us and gifted me with chocolates for my Birthday. Where would you get it? but in the West of Ireland where Cead Mile Failte is still on the doorstep. The hostel was warm and cosy, nicely decorated with lovely daily quotes to greet you. It was a lovely experience for 6 friends to catchup and a few minutes walk from McGanns where we wined and dined. We will be back. Thanks Carmen oh I forgot to mention they even do breakfast.
Place was clean and owner nice. WiFi didn’t work except outside which made it difficult to plan for the next day since it was super cold out. Breakfast was toast and cereal.
Really amazing hostel the owners are so kind and even gave us a ride! Great ceral selection! Had a wonderful time here :)
Beautiful place with beautiful energy!
Common room is very cosy, and warm :) (good to dry yourself after enjoying landscapes of Doolin)
Great location, great people, quite clean,l though there is no proper reception so you have to look for the owner when you first arrive. Still it was a great experience.
Excellent value, large rooms and friendly owner. Very comfortable stay in a beautiful area of Ireland
Instantly 4 stars! Great first impressions! cozy, peaceful, beautiful, staff is welcoming and communicative.
Very close to pubs, warm and nice hostel, good rooms, beds and bathroom
Brilliant rates, staff were more than happy to accommodate my somewhat last minute booking. Will definitely come again!
Friendly owner, good atmosphere, big bright kitchen and delicious scones for the breakfast :)
A very quite hostel to lodge in Doolin. Clean, kind staff, cozy.
what a familiar hostel! nice people with great hearts! perfect for visiting the cliffs of moher.
Excellent, friendly welcome, clean, good value, ok breakfast, would stay again
I really liked my stay here, the owner is fantastic: kind, helpful, welcoming...
Right on the bus line to town! Plus, respectful guests even in the mixed room.
Perfect place to stay in Doolin. It was clean and everyone was really friendly.
Standard hostel accommodation. A bit cramped but Carmel, the owner, is very nice with the guests.
Nice Family Run Hostel with nice rooms, good breakfast and Low prices
Extremely hospitable staff and very clean rooms. I would highly recommend to anybody
Helpful and very nice owner. Cheap and comfortable room.
A home away from home! Warm, friendly and a little slice of Ireland of old.
Perfect place ! Thank you a lot for your welcoming +
Really nice place to stay and freindly people who run it
As good as possible. Nothing missing over there you'll be enjoying
Nice and functional space for budget travellers.
Shower wasn't great but other than that, spot on!

Beautiful
Perfect for bagpackers
Yeah was grand
Cozy and picturesque place. Provided with parking, simple rooms and extremely friendly staff. Equipped kitchen and free wifi. Simple but pleasant breakfast, only few tables inside but beautiful garden. Atmosphere from another time.
(Translated) Booked on short notice and a real stroke of luck. Staff was extremely friendly and everything was super clean. The bathroom was in our room with us.
The flair is really unique. In 2 km on foot you are at the sea, you get past great houses and pubs 😉.
Take a look.✌

Schauts euch an.✌
(Translated) Great hostel. We had a private double room for 2 days. The room was very clean, as was the bathroom with shower.
Although the room faced the street, it was very quiet and pleasant.
The operators are very nice and courteous. The kitchen is large and well equipped.
At the back there is a cozy terrace area where we met some great people directly.
A pub is a few meters from the hostel and serves very good cider and Irish stew and fish and chips.
Breakfast is typical for a hostel. Coffee (instant), toast, jam, corn flakes and milk.
The Cliffs of Moher and the harbor, from which you can make great day trips to the Aaran Islands, are very close by.

Tolles Hostel.
This is a hostel that I really love.
The atmosphere of Doolin village is nice, but the hostel twin room is comfortable and the owner couple is very clean and comfortable, so I stayed one day longer than planned.
Since I don't rent a car, I chose a place that was relatively close to the bus, and it was very convenient as it was right in front of the bus stop. When the weather comes, it comes, and when the weather is clear, it stays clear... It was really nice to stay there. Personally, I feel more attached to a family-run hostel like this rather than a large one. If you ask me, I'll give you as many travel tips as I can. I also spent a day taking the recommended route, which was not on the map, and it was one of the most satisfying days. Well, actually, you have to go to see if it's good or bad, so the choice is up to you! If I were you, I would definitely go again. And personally, I recommend booking directly through the site rather than Hostel World!
I can only recommend it.
The previous speakers emphasized the family atmosphere. That is absolutely correct. I got there late in the evening in stormy weather. Heated stove in the 'living room', crackling wood, dimmed light. So something like that is good for the soul. Clean room and bathroom. Super friendly and helpful staff. Gladly again at any time.
A beautiful hostel! Everything was very clean, modern but lovingly furnished. The oven in the common room is a dream! I can only recommend everyone to stay here!
Nice staff, very pretty and atmospherically decorated, nice rooms, quiet; The two of us had a room to ourselves (happy coincidence). Reasonably priced.
There were two of us and we had booked a “private room” for three nights.
This room was truly private. Small but cozy and above all clean. An extra toilet and a shower were available and could actually be used.
(We also stayed at the "GRENN DOOR HOSTEL" in Drogheda on this trip. HANDS OFF!!!! DIRTY STORE!!!!)
The kitchen facilities are of the finest quality.
3 cooking rings with gas.
3 spacious refrigerators with space for everyone.
And everything, including the pots and pans, was extremely well looked after.
WiFi anyway. Bike rental cheap. etc. etc.
The evenings by the fireplace are special.
Mattie does everything he can to explain his homeland. Lectures, slide shows and information on all questions about Doolin and the islands.
THANK YOU for these 3 days! THANKS ! THANKS!
Extra welcome, 100% traveler! We were by car but we completely recognized ourselves in this traditional Inn with Mattie and Carmel both available and discreet.
Great info for a hike on the stones of the Buren, Great pubs with traditional music just a stone's throw away.
The best of nature and wild Ireland. Go there with your eyes closed!!!
Very clean and well maintained. Large kitchen and very nice staff. The double room with private bathroom was modernly furnished. Prices are great too.
Good place!
The owner of the hostel was very nice and willing to help!
Breakfast is included in the price.
The only downside is the location of the hostel - it's a 20-minute walk from Dolin...
A fantastic place to stay for an overnight stay or even several. Very close to the pubs of Doolin. What's more, she's a very nice owner. I definitely recommend it.
Very nice hostel. Clean and cozy. Very nice operators!
Very good youth hostel to enjoy the magnificent landscapes of Doolin. Zero defects.
Nice people. Small rooms. Thin doors. The price was okay
Friendly rooms, clean, cheap double rooms, cozy lounge
It's nice because it's very close to the sea. But it's right on the street
Simply excellent. very warm and pleasant.
