B. N. C.My partner and I stayed here for a night over Xmas and it was spectacular. The service was brilliant and the staff just couldn't do enough for us. The rooms are massive but the beds are very hard and could do with a mattress update. I can't wait to get married here!
L. K.We had a wonderful night at Cabra Castle. We were a bit disappointed to have accidentally booked the cottage room but after explaining we were there for birthday celebrations ,they allowed us to upgrade and it was not that much more expensive. The room was a dream, a bath tub in the room and 4 poster bed. It was very special.
The service was excellent. The food amazing!! The atmosphere was relaxed and the Christmas decorations were stunning.
We will definitely be back soon.

I would highly recommend that if your planning on staying that you do not stay in the ground floor court yard rooms. You can hear every single step in the room above you and you can’t leave curtains open as people walking past can easily see in.
I can’t understand why the courtyard rooms were poorly sound proofed from the rooms above as the courtyard is not that old.
My gf wasn’t drinking so we ordered cocktails without the alcohol, we got charged the same price which I think is wrong. Surely the alcohol is the most expensive part of the cocktail.
You could tell that the staff were inexperienced as a few of them were unsure about drinks and I had to ask three times for water. I’m sure Covid isn’t helping the staffing situation.
Bathroom door wouldn’t shut either.
The hotel looks really nice but I wouldn’t recommend staying. When the staff are trained and abit more experienced then maybe a meal there would be worth while.

Nothing was to much hassle and we were treated like king and queen of the castle. After booking 4 years ago and staying multiple times - it gets better each time we walk in the door. Food was incredible. It genuinely was the absolute greatest day of our lives. And it will forever be our favourite place in the world!

Would give it a 5 star rating if it wasn't for the fact that I've had better meals in other places and the staff could be a little more professional. You expect something special on both fronts, what you get is not bad, but not spectacular either I suppose. In terms of the food: not bad but the courses (from start to finish) seems to be very sweet, you get a bit sick of that..

I. S.Beautiful venue. Stayed in the lodges - very luxurious. Have been to a few weddings here and the staff have always been very attentive and the food is great.
S. F.This is our 3rd visit to Cabra Castle. In the past we had stayed in the Courtyard Rooms and I would highly recommend these rooms. This time we stayed in the Cottage rooms as everything else was booked up. They are very cute and the bed was really comfortable. However I wouldnt book them again as they are a bit noisy. They are basically hotel rooms in houses and unfortunately some of the houses were booked up by a wedding party and they were partying til 5.30am on the patio area and the slamming of the doors woke the 4 of us. Apart from that the staff, food and Dun Na Ri forest were amazing.and we would definitely go back to the Courtyard rooms.

S. M. C.We were sitting on the outdoor balcony. Staff were friendly and very nice when taking orders. Perhaps they could attend the table a little more while eating? To ensure drinks are topped up etc. Personally, the food was very much over priced, a 7.50 dessert is just way over the top. Only for I was in the company of work colleagues I wouldn't have bothered purchasing it.

c.Stayed two nights (23rd-25th oct) and enjoyed our stay. We ate in the bar both nights and the food was very nice and staff were very friendly. I had booked the restaurant for the Sunday night but I had only been able to get the 9pm reservation and decided that was too late so we booked the bar instead. They lady on reception was very accommodating and was able to book us in despite the bar showing as fully booked online. 7pm and 9pm are the only time slots for the restaurant, 6pm and 8pm might be more suitable. The reason I'm giving just 3 stars is because I did not get the room I was expecting. On the hotel's website rooms are divided into castle/courtyard/cottage. The description of the castle rooms on their own website states there are 12 luxury castle rooms which are all unique and no two castle rooms are the same. I booked using booking.com and on their site (and also on the castle's own website) the castle rooms were broken down further into castle superior and standard castle rooms. I booked a castle superior room and thought I would be in the main part of the castle and that as I booked the superior castle room I thought I would be in one of the individual suites described on their website under 'castle rooms'. When we arrived into room number 39 I realised we were facing out onto the courtyard. We were definitely in the castle room section going by the signs but I thought there had been a mistake and I rang reception to check if we had actually been booked into the castle superior room or just the standard castle room. The girl on reception said there were only 3 castle superior rooms and number 39 was definitely one of them because it had the bath. I had a look again on booking.com and could see the photo for my room was used under both the castle superior room and also the courtyard superior room description. The last night of our stay we wandered around the castle a bit and I came across rooms such as 'Sarah's room' and the 'Wishing Well room' in the main castle tower. Our room was fairly standard when compared to a lot of photos I had seen online also. I asked the receptionist when checking out what kind of room would I have needed to book to stay in Sarah's room or another room in the main part of the castle. She seemed a bit confused and after a pause said Sarah's room was a junior suite. There is no option for booking 'junior suites' on the cabra Castle website or booking.com. The castle superior room that I booked was the most expensive option so I naturally thought I would get one of the better rooms I saw photos of online.
M. C.Had a lovely dinner here last night with friends . Wouldn't be a fan of eating outdoors in Ireland as it's not warm enough but the setting was lovely. My Eton mess was delicious and young Joe that was one of the waiters looked after us was terrific at his job very attentive and a lovely manner about him well suited to the job

N. O. F.We visited in Dec 2020 with a motive.... looking for a wedding venue. We decided to make a night of it as it was a long drive from home.
Before our arrival, excellent communication via e-mail which is really appreciated as sometimes phoning does not work due to work / meetings etc.
The property itself is just what we love; old world charm. If you're looking for rigid 90 degree angles, this is not the place for you. The building is old; that's why people visit. We found all of the rooms (we got to see a few) amazingly comfortable; the old building has the old world charm and the stables out back are more modern, but still with a very warm feeling.
Olivia, the Wedding Co-Ordinator, patiently waited for us as we were over 1 hour late (we did phone to advise of same). My heart dropped when we arrived and she told us that there was actually a wedding reception about to start, but that didn't stop her from showing us round the castle and going through some of the basics with us... talk about multi-tasking! Thank you, Olivia!
If you want a night (or two) to just forget it all, I highly recommend Cabra Castle. We will return!

I thougth its perfect Nigth until ruin with the shower issue. You can only choose to really hot or really cold. Overall stayed oke. Almost perfect if I can shower perfectly.

H.Spent an amazing afternoon /night there,lunch and wine,a lovely forest walk,checked into out amazing room massive really comfy bed,big bathroom,and a stand alone bath in the bedroom, decor was beautiful, really clean inviting and romantic, four course dinner later that evening,food and wine was really good,pancakes and fruit for breakfast the next morning felt really safe and staff were great,really nice and keeping everything sanitised...we had a great time and will definitely be staying again...
My only gripe is the menu,as a non meat eater I thought the menu selection wasn't great,it was the usual fish or mushrooms in saying that I did really enjoy what I chose to eat...thank you cabra castle for an amazing time ❤❤❤❤

A very impressive location, a genuine castle with what seems like a maze of corridors and rooms. The room was great, very comfortable bed, and everything needed. Despite it being a very cold day, the heating inside seemed to be on constantly, so the building felt nice and cosy. The real plus point was the staff - all very helpful and friendly, a delight to speak to.

Great place for a wedding! Pay close attention as you move through the hotel to the restaurants - it is really easy to get lost!

I stayed here with party of journalists for a three night stay in the 1990's and we had a memorable stay. Well worth a visit

J. L.Wow. This place was stunning. The staff was great. The castle was a maze to navigate but kept in the feel of how it should be. The floors creaked, paintings need restoration, and the dog asked for a bath, but that is the charm. So amazing are the buildings and the people that you dont want to leave! The room was awesome. The food was average but it still earns 5 stars for the experience. I only wish i would have been able to play a round of golf.

A. B.Beautiful castle! Great food! There are only so many rooms in the actual castle. If you want in the actual castle make sure you state that. We actually stayed in one of the cottages. We enjoyed that it was away from everything going on at the castle. There is a walking trail that wasn't long but enjoyable.
L.Staff,Location and grounds are Great. Food is also awesome, servers also awesome. Castle however does have a history of being haunted and although we did experience and very strange situation in one of the stairways, it seemed to be a friendly ghost (LOL). During out check out we told the receptionist about our encounter who told us she has heard this from several other guest also in the same stairway. I still would stay here again as everything was outstanding. Deserves 10 Stars.

K. D.Beautiful old castle with spacious rooms. Our room overlooked a lovely courtyard. Rooms were well heated (maybe too much but we turned it down a little). There is a restaurant (5 course dinner) and a bar (sizeable dinner portions). We preferred the bar at a table near a fireplace. Lots of little gardens and nooks/crannies. We had a great stay and hope to come back again someday!!

Ideal for a Winter break, The historical decor and rooms are fantastic and perfect for Weddings.Full of Christmas vibe which I loved. Alot of trekking through hallways to get to our room but as the friendly receptionist noted its great for discovering the Castle.
The best part was the cosy corners and the roaring fire to sit back and relax in.

We cheekly asked for an upgrade as it was our anniversary weekend away.This was granted at no extra cost even though it was busy with a wedding.We were moved from the Cottages at the front to a Cottage at the back.Finding it was a little tough but allowed us to take in the magnificient historical hallways along the way,so more of a pleasure really. When we reached our room it was spacious ,the bed was comfy with big heavy blankets and a duvet.As it was outside of the Main hotel it was cold as the thick curtains covered the radiators ,little heat was getting into the room.Though the main jotel was always toasty.Our bags had been sent on for us which was a great touch. No bathtub which I was initially disappointed about but the roasting wet room shower made up for it and was amazing.

Lunch was fish and chips and a Hamburger and chips. It took extremely long to receive and I wouldnt have minded but the couple next to us arrived 20-30mins after us and got their food first.A little frustrating and irked me a little.When the food did arrive it was delicious and the chips were the best id tasted in a long while.
Dinner at 9pm.We were shown to our table and frustratingly again it took 45mins to place a food or drink order. My Sour face alerted the waitress to my dismay. She popped over apologised for the delay,made no excuses(even though the majority of staff was serving a Wedding)but faced up to us with pure professionalism and chatty small talk that made it difficult to be angry with the service.I loved the way she kept referring to the wife as Miss when asking her questions.The dinner was hit/miss.
For starters I went Salmon and she went ribs.The salmon was divine but the ribs were bland.The soup was okay. Mains I went Duck and she went chicken. I struck lucky again,the Duck was sublime and chicken quite ordinary.For Dessert I had Baileys Creme Brulee and she had Cheese cake, Mine was delicious and hers not so much.
Breakfast: She did not make it up so I went solo. I was placed in a empty function room with Christmas music playing.I sat down placed an order for a full irish and requested a pastry for herself.What I got was swift excellent service of the best Breakfast I have ever had.The egg perfect and runny. The rashers cooked to perfection.I received a small box of pastries for the room as well.Bravo folks and the waitress was the same girl from dinner the night before. I dunno how she looked so fresh and welcoming after working late the previous night.
The Staff
The front desk: A credit to the hotel. Took sufficient time with every client to ensure they were informed and their needs met. She had our bags forwarded to our room without us asking . Chatty and listened to us. Another that seemed to work 24hrs with a smile as well.
Though service was slow in the restaurant it was always friendly professional and welcoming.These are core to great customer service so well done all of you.Need to have more staff cover when there are weddings on.
Overall
I would definitely visit this hotel again.I would reccomend it for anyone getting married or just looking for a romantic break.Keep up the Good work folks and hopefully see you soon.

E. Ó. D.From the moment we arrived at the hotel, we were extremely impressed with the fantastic service as well as the lovely ambiance. My sister and I were treating our mother to a weekend away for her birthday and chose Cabra Castle as it was equidistant from where we both live.
We booked two nights bed and breakfast, one evening meal and afternoon tea on the day we arrived. The rooms were lovely, sparkling clean and the beds were very comfortable. The afternoon tea was lovely and our server was so friendly as well as having a fantastic singing voice when she and another member of staff sang Happy Birthday to Mum.
Breakfast on both mornings were superb and as breakfast is usually the last thing a guest has before they leave it is the most important meal to get right (something many other hotels don't seem to understand).
The meal we had on the Sunday evening was delicious, everything was very tasty and well presented, and again the staff were super friendly. I also spent a few hours in one of the drawing rooms on the first floor as I had some studying to do and it was comfortable and perfect for what I needed.
I am an ex hotel manager so I have incredibly high standards and expectations and I have to say they they were met and exceeded on every level by this hotel and a special thank you to all the excellently trained but also genuinely friendly staff.
Well Done and we will be back!!

It is truly like a National Trust property but we noticed when we went into the restaurant, it become less like a castle and more of a cheap pretend look about it. Very disappointed.

C. R.This is one of the best rooms I stayed in on my tour of Ireland. The room was huge, the bathroom was luxurious, I wanted to take the couch home with me! It was so quiet, I had a great night's sleep, and the grounds are gorgeous. I was a little disappointed we stayed in the courtyard instead of the main castle because I heard the castle was haunted, but my husband insists something was scratching at the door in the middle of the night so I guess we got our haunting after all (even if I slept through it). I highly recommend this, and it's so close to Dublin, the Hill of Tara, and New Grange, that you can easily stay one night while seeing any of the sites.

Dinner was very nice. Breakfast was poor and stale. Probably pre-cooked. Serving staff disinterested in the guests, the elders left it to juniors to do their work while they were clearing tables to prepare for lunch. Felt we were pushed out at 7.30am. Shame it spoilt the visit.

I would rate this hotel 6 Stars if I could and that would be a first for me. Although this Hotel doesn’t have a gym or swimming pool etc. what it does offer is luxury, style, comfort and history within the most beautiful setting.
From the moment we entered through the gates, with its long sweeping drive towards the entrance, until we left, we had the most amazing time, a weekend of bliss!
We were offered a Courtyard Bedroom which was superb, boasting a four poster bed and beautifully decorated. Having looked in the one of the cottages during our stay I think I would stay anywhere, both types of rooms offer different styles but equally as good.
Dining in the Castle was equal to the quality throughout. It has been a long time from I have dined in such a beautiful setting. The Courtroom on the first floor is stunning and the food delicious.
What made this Hotel 6 stars for me is the combination of the luxury it offers, beautiful bedrooms, sumptuous dining and especially because of the wonderful friendly and professional staff.
I would like to especially mention Cathy C who looked after us throughout our stay. Thank you so much Cathy! Also to Paula for your help and advice at reception. To every member of staff throughout, thank you. You all made us feel very welcome, I have not experienced such wonderful hospitality before, anywhere, ever!

J. A.A world-class experience. Modern amenities with old world charm.... I know that sounds cliche, of the 4 Irish castles my wife and I have stayed in, this was far and away the best. Surrounded by a 9 hole golf course and frequented by Oscar, the resident Irish Wolf Hound, it's a wonderful experience. We stayed in the cottages on the grounds which were built in the 2000's, but it was just a short walk to the breathtaking castle. Great service, good food (for Ireland, that is).

I would heartily recommend Cabra Castle to anyone considering it as a wedding venue and look forward to returning for an anniversary night away sometime in the not too distant future.

K. C.Great place to stay. My room was in "the Pigeon House", one of the auxillary buildings on the castle grounds; beautiful room, totally modern bath with huge walk-in shower. It's fun exploring the castle. The food is really good, too. I didn't explore the grounds so I can't comment on that. I also had hoped to meet Oscar, the Irish Wolfhound "mascot" but he proved to be quite elusive. Then again, I was only thers for 2 nights. Definitely recommend!

B.I was not expecting much after all I've been to them all that is castle type hotels, some impressed, others not so much but it was my beautiful cousins wedding whom I've known since she was a baby and her taste is impeccable even as a child her day was perfect but I was anxious the hotel would not let her down but what was I worried about as soon as we arrived the friendliness just oozed from the staff the hotel was a home from home and a bag pipe player and his faithfull Irish wolfhound waited patiently for the bride and groom. When they arrived it was magical and that set the tone for the celebration. Everything was perfect the rooms the venue and the food was just stunning. However the staff were the stars they made my cousin feel special and everyone else too. My mother fell her fault entirely (gin and 84 year olds are not a good combination) and they could not do enough I think they thought she was the queen. To cap it all the weather was superb especially in the evening. It was magical. Do yourself a favour treat yourself you deserve it a d experience good...no brilliant hospitality as it should be. My dog Teddy would have loved it especially the Irish Wolfhound.

The castle and grounds are absolustely stunning and the rooms, bed rooms and food were top class. The staff at Cabra were extremely kind, professional and helpful with planning our day. Storm Emma interfered with our plans, but our banquet managers were on stand by ready to help with anything which was fantastic. On the wedding day itself the staff worked tirelessly yet discreetly in the background and made the day run smoothly for everyone. We highly recommend as a wedding venue you wont have any regrets. Even if you arent getting married Cabra is an excellent place to stay for a weekend away!

J. O. (.Got randomly downgraded on our honeymoon in Ireland. We booked a courtyard room and got stuck in one of the cottages outside. When we inquired about this, they told us it was because there was a misprint on our voucher. I am pretty sure this was a lie, and they double booked our room and/or gave it away to some wedding guests. The cottages have thin walls and doors, no air conditioning, and you can hear everyone who comes in and out. After the first day they moved us into a much better room, Emmy was the receptionist at the time, she was extremely sweet, and made our stay better. Want to give the hotel five stars, but due to the situation gonna stick it with a three.

A. T. H. G.Cabra castle is a gem in the East Cavan area.. Situated just outside Kingscourt on the Carrickmacross road, it is tucked away up a beautiful long driveway.. It is owned by the Corscadden family whom own 4 fabulous castle hotels in Ireland..
It is a busy spot for weddings, we had our own wedding there and have attended many since.. The whole castle is amazingly decorated and is so warm and inviting.. The food is excellent and staff are friendly and warm.
