G. P.Located on the scenic Valentia island in county Kerry, the Moorings is ideally situated for an oceanside lunch. The venue is cosy and the staff friendly. We had the chili nacho starter, which was easily big enough for a main, it was tasty and VERY filling; followed by the fish and chips for me, and the hot and cold platter for my partner.
The fish and chips, exactly as you might expect, breaded, filling, unsurprising. Very happy to see it served with home made tartar sauce, albeit lacking a certain piquant for my personal tastes.
The hot and cold plate was incredible with a little array of breaded fish, crab claws, prawn cocktail, potato salad, smoked salmon, smoked mackerel, coleslaw with rocket salad.
We also sampled the local whiskey, a non aged Irish whiskey. Pale in appearance but smooth on the tongue if not a "true" Irish whiskey (which should be aged for 3 years), still a pleasant drink.
I'd say this place would be hopping of a summer.

F.We arrived there around half nine at night...the Pub staff were great and extremely friendly...we went to our room upstairs and were positively surprised on how clean was the room..and everything was spotless...in the next morning the same staff were there to serve the breakfast...and they again were very helpful and greeted us with a smile (we could even see under their mask 🙂)...the breakfast wich is already included in the package was absolutely fabulous...we definitely got way more than we had too, but just because everything was fresh and tasting delicious...so for sure we recommend The Moorings and we be back there in the future...
The only downside was the mattress...but that's a personal thing...was a bit too soft...but not a big deal!!!

B.Having already previously reviewed the Moorings, and given it 5 stars in 2020, I am unsure why I'm being asked again, it I'm happy to so do as it continues to live up to both its reputation and my previous experiences. It's still the best run restaurant in service, attention to detail, food and value. The fish of the day and crab Florentine remains my favourite and is always exceptional. Delighted that they reopened for bookings on the week of my vacation. As always, only sorry it may be a year until my next visit.

Altough the biggest experience would certainly be the staff. They were very nice and helpful and even remembered us when we came back. For such a busy place I think that is remarkable. Definitely recommend eating here when visitng the Skellig Islands

I forgot how many memories I left here....the little, delightful fishing village, the trip to Skellig and this fantastic restaurant/hotel!
I had a great and so good dinner here, fresh fish and perfectly cooked, tasty bread, super beers and a unique atmosphere!
The staff was super welcoming and friendly and, above all, the high quality is the most important feature of this restaurant!
I sincerely hope to come back for the third time very soon!!!! ❤️
B. R.Had two dinners and one breakfast in this restaurant. Waiters and waitresses excellent. Food delicious and they cater for diabetics. Their fruit salad was delicious. only one piece of 🍎 in it.

L. F.Very slow service from kitchen long time waiting for main courses to arrive at our table. When it did arrive mix up on the order which was rectified immediately by Pavel our waiter. Also if management need to get onto staff about something they should do it in private not near customers.

S. M.My husband and I have just had an amazing evening at The Bridge Bar at The Moorings. The staff were warm and friendly and the food delicious. My husband had the lemon sole which was on special. He said it was lovely. It was a very rich dish and especially mentioned that the buttery mash was to die for, it was obvious the time and effort that went into it. We love this kind of food, rather than the usual mass of plain spuds that you see on most menus. They were very busy and we stupidly hadn't booked in advance but they did their very best to fit us in, thank you for that. I would definitely recommend booking in advance. We had a lovely evening and will definitely be back. Thanks guys, especially for fitting us in on a very busy evening. We'll be back again soon.

H. C.I give the Bridge 3/5 stars. The food was decent. I had the sea bass with salsa, an interesting blend of Spanish cuisine. It could’ve had a bit more flavor, but was overall fresh. However, the service was terrible. Our drink orders were forgotten twice and it took an hour to get our food. Our waitress seemed rushed and inattentive. They could definitely improve this aspect.
I give the hotel 5/5 stars. The Moorings was a pleasant place to stay. The rooms were very large and clean. They packed us a lunch for our Skellig tour, a nice add on. We enjoyed our visit and their hospitality.
J. D.Nice place. Sea food was very good. Room was okay but I recommend taking a sea view room. Our room was facing inward to a flat roof with extractor fans running late and starting up again early next morning. Staff very helpful and very friendly.
S. M.We did not stay here but we went to the bar for food. The service was very slow all evening. We weren't in the rush but we could tell it was creating tension with other diners and we were there for over 2 hours for only 2 courses. The servers were very polite however just ridiculously slow for such a small area and only a few tables.
Food was great however asked for red sauce for both of us and was given one small sachet.

The food was great here too! We ordered sandwiches, Thai Curry with Rice and a Grilled Plaice. Think there is separate seating which you can request if you don't want to experience the rowdiness of the crowd who are seated near the bar..
This is place is much bigger than fisherman's bar and it does not feel dense when there were plenty of guests around. You should come here for your food if you need big spaces. :)
I. S. V.It's a nice pub with a mix of locals and tourists. At some point some locals also got together to play some music which was nice although it was drowned by the lack of interest from most of the crowd. The beer selection is not great but OK for a small pub and the Killarney IPA is a great choice as it's really excellent.
We had gone there to eat at the Moorings restaurant, which was full and ended up there. The food was not up to the expectations though. The seafood chowder was nice but too cream heavy. The crab feet were good but a small portion. The grilled hake was just regular frozen fish charged a 18€ for a small portion, quite outrageous in my opinion. The baileys cheesecake we had for desert was not very tasty and too runny.

J. L.I ordered and paid a takeaway meal online and received a confirmation to pick up the food in 20 minutes. Upon my arrival the kitchen had not yet started preparing the order and the cashier tried to charge me for it again.
The drinks were room temperature and the food somewhat bland. I found €15,50 expensive for a portion of panko scampi and a warm can of coke.

t. a.This is a lovely little spot. It wasn't overrun with tourists the evening we ate here, but I'd imagine it can get very busy. The food here was delicious. Staff were very courteous.

Our server gave us excellent recommendations and even accommodated one of our party with a special order not on the menu. It was such a great place to get out of the car and stretch our legs and breathe in the fresh air during our amazing tour around the Ring.

C. S.We had a meal here recently as we do every year when we visit the area. I was slightly apprehensive as it was our first time out with the kids since lockdown but the minute we entered I was put at ease as all the staff had either visors or masks on, the tables were well spaced out and there was full table service throughout. The menus were all laminated and were sanitised immediately after use. The meal was delicious as always and the fish was so fresh I could literally taste the sea from it. I wish ye continued success and we are already looking forward to our next trip back.

S. K.Went here after visiting Kerry cliffs. It was around 5pm and we didn't have a reservation.The restaurant was booked out for 6.But the staff went above and beyond to get us in for dinner. The food was lovely, especially the Seafood Florentini and the Prawn and monkfish specials.The portions were huge( as in pictures). The staff were very polite and helpful, with a pleasant face all the time. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is doing The Ring of Kerry, or if you are ever in the town.

H. C.Wanted to leave 5 stars, but the service was quite poor; basically non-existent after we ordered. I understand they were busy, but no one checked on how our food was or offered to refill our water/other drinks. I had to flag down our server to get our bill (which you should never do, or have to do), and had to go to the bar to pay after waiting 10 minutes for the bill to come. Sad, because the pan-fried hake was glorious.

The bed is not the most comfortable and the walls to the hallway a little thin so we heard our neighbors coming in late at night, they were a rowdy group but other than that we loved it here. Will stay again! Also located right across from the port to go to skellig Michael.
