Reviews of Midway Food Court Portlaoise
a. o. s.
Just a little tatty around the edges and suffering from competition from the supermacs on the other side of the roundabout. That said, there's enough variety for everyone in the food court, the hotel is reasonable and the gym and pool are pretty good. Ideal for stopovers and striking out fir Dublin if coming up from the country and right on the M7.
S. S.
Due to restrictions you still cannot dine inside but eating area outside available. Maskd must be worn and hand sanitiser inside entrance. Bathroom and toilets a little disappointing, tissue dispensers broken, toilets unflushed....though this may be due to a lack of staff obeying restrictions. We had food from Chopstix which is a noodle bar....excellent food, friendly and efficient staff. Also popped into Applegreen, served by a lovely young lady who was very friendly and polite. Great place to stop for a bite or rest stop.
A. K.
Good choice of food, toilets. And possibility to accommodate in hotel.
T. D.
Easy to access and with a variety of food shops to choose from, the Midway Food Court is a nice place to have breakfast or lunch. The seating is mostly canteen style chairs and tables and is kept clean and tidy by their friendly staff. There are about 5 different types of cafe/restaurants along with a souvenir shop in one area and a couple more food places in other buildings on the site. The food is not 5 star but noone had any complaints.
s. d.
Great location beside the motorway and not to busy . I had a meeting over lunch which was a carvery style set up. It was very nice and well priced . There was plenty of choice to.
E. O. R.
Stopped here on route to Cork grabbed a sandwich and a bottle of water, also used the bathroom there are a number of choices for food restuarants under one roof, bathrooms spotless with toilet paper, soap, dyson hand dryer and fresh smelling. Would definitely recommend this and will stop here again.

Great place for a lovely bite of food, great service and reasonable price 🙏
B. M.
Always a good choice of foods here. With plenty of space to relax aswell
I. G.
A lot lovely good offers: Freshii-very healthy and tasty food option, Chopstix-chinese food, Subway & Bakewell, also Newsagent.
A. G.
Had Burger King, food is always lovely. Never any ques. Staff are so nice. Can do your own drinks aswell.
A. G.
Always here for me breakfast! Bakewell is a best choice on N7 motorway for morning fried eggs and freshly baked rashers 🤩
D. D.
Simple food court with a selection of food, nothing amazing but wouldn’t worry about getting food poisoning from them
T. B.
We stop here approx 19.40 on Tues evening, very few places opened, so we had a nice salad from Freshii .. My salad was lovely my sister had a wrap and only for we share both together you could not eat the wrap on it only as it was pickled with mustard .
A. M.
Handy spot just off the motor way. Good food options and well stocked shop. Clean toilets.
R. J.
I am always happy to eat in chopstix, having enough servings in very good price. The most important thing is ,it's chicken is halaal 100% so people out there can also enjoy chicken meals.
c. o.
Good selection of food outlets, large parking area, cleanliness needs improvement, not enough seating outside.
R. K.
Well stocked, clean, spacious and staff very friendly. Great selection of eats n treats. You won't be disappointed
D. K.
Not a bad place to stop. Modern and clean. Most importantly, we had allergies and intolerances catered for by O'Brien's sandwich Bar.
T. L.
Its fine convienent parking lots of comfie seating and various food choices from lunch salad types to fried chicken with sandwiches in O'Briens and Subway i feel other than fried chicken its a bit pricey a carvery or deli wud thrive here too very little choices for kids in my opinion
P. G.
Nice and clean. Microwave available to heat food
T. C.
Great selection of food here. Only problem as I see it, they need better door closing mechanism. People walk in and out, the doors do not close behind them, leaving some areas exposed to cold breeze at this time of year. Apart from that, I do like the place. When the doors are fixed, I'd give a higher rating.
A. R.
Comfortable and quiet food court. Newsagent, sandwich shop, salad bar, noodle bar and two cafés.
V. G.
Nice staff. Big parking.Good fud
A. M.
A handy stop off on a drive. Nice selection of food something for everyone
t. w.
Only went in initially to use the loo's but was tempted by the food smells so treated myself to some lunch. Very clean & pleasant food hall. Nice range of foods to buy. Loads of parking. Easily found, plenty of sign's. Will now regularly use on my 'Dublin 2 Cork' and back again runs...
E. K.
A hive of activity, social distancing in place along with the prerequisite signage. Busy spot but the facilities staff are excellent. Limited enough food choice if you dont want sandwiches, rolls or burgers, or at least it was on the day I called.
S. C.
Staff are all really nice and friendly and the coffee is so nice! Great choice and variety of food. I recommend the chopsticks if you are a fan of noodles. Plenty of seating available and parking. Open from 6am for those early rises.
N. W.
Consistent as always, great variety on offer.
n. e.
Fair food court. Just needs something to make it feel more like a four star experience rather than a three star. Take tips from the hotel next door maybe
A. d. B.
Love to stop here. Great food.
k. o.
Well kept, spotlessly clean and some good food options. Benches outside which are well spaced out and nice on a good day.
L. S.
Lovely coffee. Fast service very friendly server. ☕☕👍
B. B.
Very comfortable ,cosey¢ral.
Spotlessly clean and well equipped.
The owners were lovely people.
Very helpful&friendly. The place is very private despite being right in the centre of things.
P. D.
This place has everything! Best rest stop in the area.
D. M.
I ordered a Burger King Oreo Fusion and they forgot my order and made me wait 15 minutes
f.
Good place to take a break on your journey. There's couple different restaurants to choose from if you're hungry and recently they have opened Applegreen station if you need to buy a diesel or petrol. Big parking lot
K.
Service at the coffee dock was VERY slow, plus seating near one of the front doors had a very bad draught. The toilets were about 5 out of 10, unclean and very smelly. Had to hold my breath!
Not sure I would call back. I was asked to bring coach tours here as a pit stop between Cork/Limerick and Dublin, but I have to say I wont upon reflection.
M. S.
Fine place outside Portlaoise town to stop on M7 and grab a bite if you're hungry in midway. Ample parking space with a variety of food and coffee options to choose from. Never found the seating be filled as they have enough room for anyone who wants to stop. Staff are helpful and courteous. I'm sure any hungry family or solo traveller would find it a useful spot to stop. You're welcome!
P. G.
The quality of food here has really improved since a few years ago. The new freshii offers a somewhat healthy option compared to the normal fast food restaurants you would find at a service station, although at a slightly higher price. One disadvantage is that there is not much seating here so you will probably end up eating in your car.
E. L.
Excellent foodhall. Plenty of choice. Unfortunately we went for the healthy option and ended up paying far more than I thought necessary. Especially considering that we only stopped for a toilet break. Just watch the price before ordering. Freshi especially. Mind you the soup arrived in a small bucket. I kid you not.
F. C.
There's lots of options here with plenty of outlets, food styles and dietary needs to choose from.
The carpark area is massive, but even with the huge influxes of people service is still quick. as the name suggests this is a great food court for long trips
W. D.
It's in a great location just off the motorway on the outskirts of portlaois great for the kids to get out and stretch there legs, lots of parking. Good services and good selection some of the restaurants a little bit pricey but over all a nice place to pull up hand have a coffee and bit to eat.
M. D.
2017 Nov: the place has had a bit of a lift as it's had a number of empty units occupied - a noodle bar and a newsagents are new. The Chicken Hut had closed which is a bit of a port as the spicy wings were a favorite. Good choice now in terms of a quick bite while on the road.
N. G.
Good place to stop, take little break while driving on M7 motorway for long journeys. Have lots of choices for food, fuel/tyre pressure topup etc. Good option for families with kids, toilets are usually clean.
A. D.
The staff were incredible, very patient, very kind and making sure everything was the way i wanted it!
v.
Lovely place to go dir a quick bite and a coffee, clean, bright and with plenty of choice, from Asian food all the way to soup and a sandwich, if you fancy a light snack or something mor substantial this is s good place to check out, good value for money too
a. o. s.
Great plac e good selection
P. O. N.
Loads of parking, food Court is big, and my favourite is there chopstix wow I love there food, and I always fill up at Appletreewick anyway the coffee is amazing
P. O. D.
Just off the M7 motorway sign for Portlaoise plenty of parking. Maldon Hotel beside it. A very very large food court with 6 or 7 different choices. Lots of seating all around. Toilets are very clean. It's a great place to stop refuel the body and continue on your journey.
S. D.
great facility and meeting point. range of food available from snacks to sandwiches to full dinners. paid internet access available. microwave on site for heating meals / bottles. toilet facilities always clean and presentable. huge car parking area.
J. H.
Very handy stop between Dublin and cork. Quick off of junction 17.
Burger King
Subway
Asian food
Good coffee.
J. C.
Was great. Had a lovely meal served with a cold coke. Yes. It really was cold. The girl that served me smiled and spoke to me. Yes. She really did speak. For those that do not understand what I mean. It is when a person uses verbal communication that they say. Not using a phone.
T. L.
Great choices for food, hot and cold. Full dinners or just a sandwich all freshly prepared. Plenty of seating and kept pretty clean. Ample parking and clean toilet facilities
s. c.
Not as good as it used to be! Less of a selection of shops and food.
R. T.
Great choice of food . Really clean. All tables spread out for social distancing. Will call again.
S. Ó. R.
For the location it's good. If you're hungry or in need of a coffee and a quick relax from driving. There's no better place. Difference choices in a limited space. Give it a go if you need something quick.
C. M.
Good selection of places to eat here and lots of seating available. The car park has plenty of spaces too. O'Brien's does great sandwiches and coffee; there is a Freshii, Subway, and a deli which serves crepes. Seems to be part of the Applegreen collection now. There used to be a fried chicken place but it seems to be closed permanently.
E. A.
Great stopping point, plenty of parking for both large and small vehicles. Good range of food options, and good bathroom facilities. Also has facility for warming baby food/milk.
d. d.
Nice food and very friendly staff. It’s not that easily accessible from the motorway as other service stations however there are great food options and great hospitality area and lots of free parking
J. H.
Arrived 9pm so slowing down for the day. 3 food outlets open chose an "oriental" option. Not great. See BK is on the way, so a welcome addition.
T. M.
Dijon Restaurant is the hidden gem in Midway. It's down in the corner and the writing in the menus is small. But it's worth the effort to seek it out. The range of menu items is much wider than any of the other outlets: Cooked breakfast or lunch/ dinner, salads, quiche, sandwiches, rolls and more. The quality of the food is great: generous helpings of pure ingredients.
M. F.
Variety of food franchises on offer from snacks to a decent meal and comfortable area to eat, kid / family friendly, free parking and WC facilities. The hotel and leisure centre is next door making this an excellent stop off point especially for motorway travellers and half way ish between cork and Dublin.
P. C.
Well maintained, good choice of eateries
P. W.
Good stop off point to Cork or limerick from Dublin.
m. c.
Good and big place to sit and relax with nice food court
Q. b.
Nice and clean good service helpful staff lots of choice 😀😁🤩🤗
C. F.
Good stopover for refreshments, meals & snacks at junction 17. Some units closed as under refurbishment but enough choice there.
Lots of parking and a hotel on site.
Clean & well maintained. Outside seating area.
N.
This place is absolutely brilliant plenty of fresh varieties of food to suit all tastes, great for kids and families, I chose Chinese on the day it was delicious prices are very reasonable plenty of parking too
J. O.
Lots of parking not too busy
Supermacs grand quick service and also a good car wash there
B. S.
Clean toilets, well maintained. Service hit and miss depends on which food court you visit. Subway very unfriendly,O'Briens slow and very dis-organised but friendly! Outlet nearest the toilets ( can't remember name)is very good, lots of fresh food and vegetarian options but can have long queues.
J. W.
Stopped here for a cuppa midway to Dublin. Quite crowded carpark and lots food to choose from. Dijon had lovely food but service was dreadfully slow with a very short queue
D. N.
Probably the best Takeaway Fast food in the country. I regularly divert off the M6 motorway en route home to Offaly for a healthy Grilled chicken burger.
E. P.
After a weekend spent in Belfast the drive home to Cork was roughly four and a half hours. It's a long spin. We originally intended to get as far as Cashel, pull in there for a quick bite to eat. As we got to Portlaois we decided that a pitstop in Midway will do as I was very tired. There is plenty of parking in the car park for cars and buses. There is also ample disabled parking right up at the entrance. Inside the facility you will have plenty of seating. The seats we used were leatherette and very comfortable. The table seats four and was clean when we sat down. There is also sockets that you can use to rechared your mobile phone, tablets or plug your laptop into. We ate from the FRESHII store. Their tex-mex buritto was excellent. Really, really filling. I'm not really a buritto person but I'm definitely gonna try them again. Price was very good. Male toilets were fine. Clean. Over all I would happily recommend Midway as a place to break up your journey or even as a place to pick up a bite to eat.
D. F.
Went to chopstix, where they do a go childs special for €4.50 inc water. We ( parents ) got freshi which was fab. We got the burritos , one tex mex and one pangoa which were both bursting with flavor. €6 each inc water 👍
j. l.
Very quiet at the Midway this pm, Burger King a new addition since last visit,
Food choices ok, pity O Briens gone
G. G.
No seating available , was busy so had to eat in car

Great place for a brunch going to and from Dublin to Cork. One small bit of advice please put up some clear signage for the roundabout exit.
O. M.
Fuel at Apple Green petrol station and Food court with Burger King, Freshii, Subway and Chopstickx takeaways at present...
M. O.
Plenty of food courts to choose from. Friendly staff and very clean facilities
P. S.
Has an O'Briens for sandwiches and coffee. A bit more up market French style bistro and a chicken hut style place that does pizzas as well. Has clean toilets, baby changing facilities and a microwave for heating bottles.
W. Y.
Great choice of food, well presented and served. Reasonably priced and good portion sizes. Design slightly reminiscent of a glass fronted aircraft hanger
J. M.
Lovely new looking services. Good choice of food. Lots of seats available. Clean and good toilets!
D.
Very good and improving. It's a far better option than many of the other official services, as it offers a lot more than just fast food and is far more spacious.
T. t.
Good enough spot. Hard to park truck if busy.
Car drivers please give trucks the space we need. By law we have to stop. Pls don't park in our spaces.
R. H.
The perfect location for those traveling between Dublin and Cork or Limerick. Service isn't up to much. A few different food vendors it never feels relaxing!

Food court on the main Dublin Cork road. While the place is reasonably comfortable, the selection of vendors is quite limited, and they are all quite similar.
