Reviews of Currarevagh House
Still dreaming about our fantastic stay at Currarevagh last month, count your lucky stars if you have a chance to go! Henry is a wonderful host and you’ll feel so well taken care of by everyone there.
There is a sense of purity and tranquility to the place with the flawless hospitality of the whole family, woodland trails full of old hardwoods, sparkling lake water for a dip, local spring water in your comfortable and spacious room. Didn’t see so much as a single pixel during our stay!
The wood fired boathouse sauna was brilliant with a glass window onto the most picturesque view of the lake which you can then jump into! So invigorating and authentic.
And as if all of that was not enough, the food was nothing short of sensational, truly delicious and inventive, all local produce and served up so beautifully.
A stay at Currarevagh is a gift to the soul and I can’t recommend highly enough. Thank you Henry and family!
My son married the love of his life here last Friday. Henry and his family and staff made it really a day to remember. They were so friendly and helpful. Fabulous food, great comfort and the location is heaven on earth. Can’t wait to get back.
Amazing Hotel; Downton Abbey meets the Killarney Park. The staff are so friendly and Henry is an amazing host, the grounds and scenary is out of this world. We were lucky enough to stay here for a friends wedding and we will 100% be back! Also the food was 5 star ❤️❤️❤️
We were at my daughter's wedding the house is gorgeous and the grounds stunning.thank you Henry for making her day so special and to his wife for the sumptuous food .we will definitely b back again
A fantastic trip to Currarevagh House for our first anniversary. Henry and his family made us feel more than welcome from the moment we walked in the door, and we loved every minute of our two days and nights there. The house itself is immaculate, the food and dining experiences were like no other, and the surrounding grounds are pristine. We'll definitely be back again before too long.
Our one night stay here was the splurge of our visit to Ireland. The overall experience was five stars, but the room itself more of a 3.5. As others have noted, the luxury here is not in the room but in the hospitality and the setting. And the food! We loved arriving at tea time and chatting with other guests and with Henry. I walked the easily accessed trails even though it was drizzly. Dinner was elegant and had a lot of attention to detail, which was a nice change from the pub food we’d been eating in our 10-day trip. Service was wonderful and it was so peaceful. Breakfast also lovely...locally made rhubarb and black currant compotes, hot cooked or not as there were lots of choices. The room had a comfortable bed and nice toiletries. If you don’t want to be surrounded by antiques, don’t go. We enjoyed Henry and thinking about life managing a country house that has been in the family for so long!
We recently returned from a three night stay. The welcome, the food and the overall experience was superb. I would highly recommend a visit. A massive thank you to Henry, Lucy, June & Team.
Exquisitely unique!! One night just isn't enough! Magnificent house and grounds on the lake shore, fine dining, afternoon tea, fishing, walking, relaxing, and the most wonderfully welcoming and accommodating hosts. Thank you June and Henry. See you again next summer.
And as I leave Currarevagh for the 8th time in 13 years, I am already looking forward to my next visit. Henry, Lucy, June, Anne-Marie, thank you all so much for hosting us yet again in what has always been, but is now officially, my favourite Irish Country House.
I first came to Currarevagh House 43 years ago. I was probably the youngest guest by a mile but I so loved the atmosphere of Country House living and meeting the fascinating regulars that I fell instantly in love. After my first son was born my Mum and Aunt brought me to Currarevagh twice a year, in June and October and it became one of life's absolute treasures. Currarevagh was and remains unique. It remains the one true Country House Experience to be had. All that and the incredibly beautiful setting makes Currarevagh House a small piece of Paradise which will draw you back time and time and time again
The angler's and foodies paradise. Mixhing the charm and luxury of an old country house with fantastic lake views and the tranquillity of the surrounding forest. The food is amazing: dinner cooked by the chef Lucy using ingredients from the house garden or the afternoon tea and cakes served in the drawing room. The lady of the house June and her son Harry are the nicest hosts. They will even leave out a coffee flask and packed snack for you if you decide to try for an early morning fishing session. Highly recommended!
Amazing place to relax, unbelievable hospitality and scenery : )
Our absolute favorite place to unwind. The grounds, the food and the welcome leave lasting memories.
Superb stay. Spacious room. Amazing breakfast and dinner. Fantastic hospitality. Hosts that pay attention and provide great care and go the extra mile to accommodate the needs of their guests.
Superb stay and Henry as host could not be surpassed. Food was first class both breakfast and evening meals. Would return without hesitation and heartily recommend same.

Wondwrful
Amazing food and hospitality
Unbelievable scenery ❤
superb as always
Quiet unique
A unique (great) place. Secluded guest house located directly on the lake. There's something about the dignified atmosphere. It doesn't matter that the bathroom is up to date or that the rooms are furnished first class - no, that's all standard, BUT the charm of this house lies in the way it is run. Herny, the manager at the front, his wife always cooks a great meal in the evening, and his mother always serves tea in the afternoon. Great fireplace rooms with huge windows... and a view of the lake... and I've never met such a personal dining room. Be sure to register there for dinner. There is always a 4-course menu (best price/performance ratio), and later in the fireplace room there is always a good evening tea or coffee. This is the only guesthouse/hotel I know that does WITHOUT a room key. I thought it was kind of great too. If we go to Ireland again, a longer detour here would be planned.
A very beautiful place by the lake. Old house, spacious room (the only downside is the bathroom, but nothing dramatic), impeccable and smiling service, wise tourist advice and, finally, succulent cuisine. Deliciously old-fashioned.
