j. m. s.Within 5 minutes walk from the centre of Town, this Magnificent Church stands. Building started in 1842 and wasn't completed until 1914. The Cathedral is truly a Masterpiece to be viewed in awe standing 285 feet high. It's beautiful stained glass windows, exposed wood rafters and round stone columns cut from limestone has to be viewed to be appreciated. One could easily loose track of time upon seeing and entering St. Mary's Cathedral designed by Augustus Welby Pugin. A must place to visit while in Killarney and will be remembered long after.
A. H.Critical mass, I'm always critical of mass... But if you need some high ceilings and sweet architecture.. this is the place for you. Cleanse your soul and don't forget to cleanse your hands.. there is sanitizer there if you forget. Cleanliness is ... Um.. something or other?
p. p.Finished at the peak of the age of stonework- and it very much shows. Late 1800's was an era of machine tools, and ability to produce (cut stone, for example) en masse: but with hand assembly. This Church is a gothic reproduction only the Art Nouveau age could produce. Note the high arcade arches, pillar work with bevel cut stone and fitment of stones of various lights into a masterwork assemblage that deserves a visit. No Charge for entrance

O. N.St. Mary's Cathedral is a gorgeous cathedral outside the city centre of Kilarney and next to the park. The cathedral itself is wheelchair accessible.
There is wheelchair accessible parking.
The cathedral grounds are wel kept and look incredible. Due to C19 we decided not to go inside.

One of town's many crowning jewels it offers. C. E.Such an example of finest architecture, wonderfully preserved, surrounded by other few fabulous old buildings. There is lot of beautiful little rabbits running around in the evenings when is quiet. There is a car park beside it.

M. M.I was lucky enough to be in Belfast on a Sunday and happened by the cathedral. We listen to some of the sermon and then the choir started to sing, and it was just pure beauty. If you knew me you would know that I'm not a person that gets emotional, but I actually started tearing up listening to how beautiful the choir sounded in that space. It was a memory I will never forget.

P. H.We stumbled upon this place in Killarney without even trying. It was immaculate. It was so peaceful and so beautiful on the inside and they have an area for you to take bottled holy water. I loved it ..what I needed and I didn't even know it.
V. C.A very tall church that bares a wooden ceiling on massive stone pillars. it feels like a mixture of roman and gothic architecture held in the austere style of the region.
If you do enter you may be surprised to find the locals praying in unison and speaking out loudly in a side wing without a priest. This church is not just for special occasions but is actually used daily. Along with its massive stone walls and wooden top, this cathedral almost feels cosy and warm.

R. T.We were staying in Killarney on an organised coach trip. We always like to look at the local churches and Cathedrals during our stay anywhere. Unfortunately there was a wedding on when we went to visit so we were only able to see a small part of the interior but what we did see was beautiful! What also was very poignant was the plaque under a tree in front of the cathedral which was to commemorate the burial of "all the unknown Children" who died during the potato famine!

P. Q.Cathedral dedicated to Santa Maria in the town of Killarney, extremely beautiful from an architectural point of view, enjoyable from all sides thanks to the large green spaces that surround it. The windows are very beautiful. One of the major attractions for visitors to the town, often used as the starting and finishing point of the "Ring of Kerry", together with Ross Castle.

X. Y.beautiful! The first time I came to the church at night, it seemed more solemn and quiet. The stained glass paintings were no longer as colorful as the sunlight penetrated, and there were only dim yellow lights, which had an inexplicable sad tone. There is also a separate prayer room here, which is decorated with great care.

The famous architect Pugin, who also designed the Houses of Parliament in London, designed this Catholic church in the Gothic style he revived; it was built in the middle of the 19th century.
