S. D.Wonderful experience. Presentation of the food was excellent. The tastes where mouth watering. One has to say they must have very experienced chefs which is very difficult to have these days. Very helpful friendly staff and the location was fantastic views of the local mountains and the sea as you look down on Arklow.

E. O.I love this place! The carrot cake was quite simply the most delicious I’ve ever eaten... and it had caramel too :) I got a cappuccino, and it’s the best I’ve had in a while... the froth level in my drink was perfect. Very friendly staff. Definitely recommend :)
J. K.A beautifully located cafe by the sea in wicklow mountains. I recommend going there for breakfast (good selection, very tasty, good coffee). It is a very relaxing experience especially if you sit outside on a sunny day.
We had lunch there a couple of times and the food was just OK.
Do not be put off by a lady on the front desk who would do with some customer service training in welcoming customers (also the one who was taking bookings over the phone earlier in the year). One star less for the service.
E. K.I wasnt overawed by the choice on first look at the menu. If you have issues with processed bread it's a bit of a minus but I can say the food was tastier than a michelin star restaurant I once visited. And I'm very fussy about food tasting perfect. I was actually very surprised...
E.A buzy day with a very nice girl explaining the wait time .. ⏲️ we did not wait so long .. Menu has a great variety for both vegetarian and non vegetarian. Service is top class 👏 .. All the food was amazing.. reasonably priced .. The perfect lunch 😋..

E. L.The Broken Chair, it's a perfect balance of everything. Catering for the publics needs can be difficult. At "the chair" I experienced a taste of really good food, their menu is balanced very nicely. Our Children had their "Tomato Soup" which was very flavoursome. I had a Salmon summer salad & my wife had the "Prawn salad" it was plated very well.
We stayed on & had dessert which I personally think they carried too much of a choice. Less is more. Their coffee was very nice, only which they served a larger Coffee Cup/Mug. As I love my coffee.
Overall experience of this hidden Jem! Was that I will be back again & again & again. Arklow really has so nice "Jem stones" 9/10
I dropped 1 mark for the menu I Know is too Big for their Kitchen to handle. Less is more, we are taught as Chefs in Collage. 😉

Or maybe I am not used to it, since in our coutry almost all places are opened well into the evening, usually at least until 20.00 or 22.00😅🙈
Well I hope that next time I am in Ireland I will manage to catch it while it is still open. It really looked nice and cosy and based on other reviews it seems that the coffee, fppd and service are also very good😃

Covid Update : The broken chair has always been a favorite of mine, but as with the general sence of Covid doom and overwhelming anxiety that is the 'new norm' I was hesitant to venture out. Im so glad i did, I have to praise the management and staff as they are certainly maintaining all the new covid measures to ensure their customers safety. It was so nice to feel like normal again, and if anyone is feeling nervous about going out again the broken chair will definitely make you feel at ease.
