My sister and I took a trip to Ireland in mid-August. We just so happened to stumble upon this amazing place! The food was so fresh and delicious! The staff was very delightful and kind. Hands down the best food we had on our entire trip!

Their brunch was a good as any place I frequent in notting hill in london. Great toasted sourdough with avocado topped with nuts and chilli. Also had a dark chocolate cake with dates. Visited with my husband and son. The service was as good as the food. Keep up the good work bastion kitchen!

Had a great couple cups of coffee here and a delicious breakfast. My wife loved the avocado toast. The young woman working was nice and we enjoyed chatting with here. Food was healthy, delicious, and filling. Great way to start off the day!

Just wow. This is it. The welcoming morning coffee shop around the corner, where you want to spend every morning. Too bad i live in the wrong country. The food is delicious, fresh made, served just right. Staff is very friendly, attentive and skilled. Prices are justified by the quality of the food, drinks and the low carbon food print. Children seem to be no problem, even if they have a bad day and need to be brought outside for a moment. Alltogether a great coffeeshop!

A great choice of sandwiches and hot food. I had the turkey and stuffing sandwich, my dad had the daily special soup and said it was the best soup he's ever had! Everyone in our family group of seven thought this place was great. It gets very busy at peak times so be prepared to wait or get a take away. Highly recommended!

The coffee is the best in town. The two staff members are not very friendly and if anything they are cold towards customers. Would be a great little place if the staff could simple smile and maybe give behind the counter a good clean.

Terrific little cafe serving imaginative, healthy and delicious treats. Leak, pea and coconut soup is really amazing. Coffee cake is well judged: it's moist, delicious and full of real coffee flavour, with none of the usual sickening sugar saturation. Pita breads with cheese and chicken and fresh salad are outstanding. Coffee is good too. Interior design is quirky, colourful and really creative- a joy for cafe goers tired of the timid homogeneity of Starbucks et al. It's slightly cramped, though, and when it's busy, service speeds drop. But patience is rewarded.

Just had a wonderful lunch here on our stopover in Athlone from the east to west :) The pitas and butternut squash soup were perfect and the coffee is amazing and local! If you are stopping in Athlone definitely stop here for lunch. (They have several veggie and vegan options as well!)

We stumbled across this little gem of a cafe with excellent vegan options. The falafel was spot on and the food had lovely flavour. Great to see some of these kind of cafés popping up in the Midlands.

We were headed to Kin Khao right around the corner (Thai), but it wasn't open yet so we stopped here for lunch instead on our travels to Galway a few weeks ago. It seemed very busy, so we took that as a good sign. Staff was lovely, but the cafe seating was very cramped. We all ordered coffee and the special "hot plate" of the day, which was a Vegetable Coconut Curry with Basmati Rice. The coffee was quite good, but the curry was sorely lacking. No flavor, couldn't taste the coconut, and it really felt like we were just eating warm vegetables in curry infused water. To be fair, American palates are different, plus the cafe seemed very health-conscious, but we were still expecting a slightly more savory and flavorful curry,. One of us re-ordered and got a pita sandwich, which she liked better, and they comped her curry for her (like I said, the staff was really friendly). I ate mine, because I felt bad, but next time I travel through Athlone, I'll probably skip this spot.

A small, cozy restaurant with very nice service, where you can also find something tasty as a vegetarian or vegan. I had the soup of the day and the vegetarian pita and loved it. The latte and brownie for dessert were also delicious. Highly recommended! Keep it up!!!
