C.Having walked to the castle I was needing a much deserved cup of tea 😀
The cafe is in the entrance, you don’t need to pay to go in the castle to get to in. And the beautiful grounds are free of charge.
Tours of the inside of the castle are 11am, 1pm and 3pm and there is a charge.
So the scones caught my eye plain, wholemeal, cherry and fruit ones. I went for a plain scone which the girls warmed up for me and pot of tea.
Scone tasted freshly baked, looked a lovely colour and melted in your mouth. The tea was nice, you helped yourself to sugar and milk which I prefer, so you make it how you like.
Price was 5.40€ in total, 2.50€ for the tea and 2.90€ for the scone with jam and butter. You got two cups of tea out of the pot and the scone was a good size and filling.
They have 2 rooms that you can sit in and a fantastic seating area outside.
The service was really good, both the girls were really friendly. Brought food out to people, made sure all the tables were cleared.

P. G. h.A noble cuppa tae and a scone. The staff are very friendly, and they involve you in the pouring of teh milk into the tae which is great as in some places they only put about half a teaspoon in. The inside seating is wonderful, I feel like a princess in an old castle. There are some lully benches outside also.

B. G.Not great. Was told @ first 'No Dogs Allowed " & told to sit outside & someone would be out to me. Waited & waited , someone came out , I asked him if he would please bring me out cup tea. Explained reason , & he told me I could bring in the dog & get my food.
This is my 3rd experience with Tea Room in Ardgillan. Please inform me as to the correct rule.
