Great spot for breakfast, very tasty food, huge portions, great coffee. Chilled ambience, located in high-ceilinged former bank tastefully redecorated. Ample seating, including outdoor. Decent range of snacks/drinks on menu

On a recent visit to Drogheda from UK, I enjoyed a nice visit to Esquires. The Decor is outstanding and the layout was great with enough space between tables you didn't feel cramped or intrusive on other customers conversations. Excellent to offer customer the use of free newspapers. In a world of people constantly on phones, it was nice to read the paper provided (gained back a star for that!) It is a little confusing when walk through the door for toilets, and just see a disabled toilet and a ladies toilet... Where was Men's? But the glaring issue was staff, felt very robotic and without any charm, conversation or ability to make me feel welcomed for spending my hard earned money with your establishment. Can't fault the food or delivery of service to table, but, smile ladies!

Nice option for coffee in Central Drogheda (5/5 green stars) I’ve been to a few branches of Esquires, and have visited the Drogheda branch twice – it’s a nice café with lots of room and interesting decor. I find their espresso drinks (€3.15 for a small latte) to be good and would rate their food as pretty good. My brother seemed to enjoy his Irish breakfast, my nephew liked his apple pie, and my scrambled egg & pretzel thing was tasty too. Staff members were friendly. I’m also giving them 5/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, based on these reasons: • All of their coffee is organic and certified Fairtrade. • Ethical Consumer ranks Esquires as the second best coffee chain – just below Soho and well above Starbucks. • It’s worth mentioning that some independent cafés offering direct trade, sustainable coffee may have a better overall impact. So I wouldn’t rate them as the most ethical café but they may be in the top 20%, so that means 5/5. • They tend to do a good job at encouraging ceramic /personal cup use. • Food is also served on ceramic plates with metal utensils. • Their sugar is also Fairtrade certified. • I’ve forgotten to get many details on food, and their website has no information on anything beyond the coffee. • For now I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt on the food but they should provide more info on sourcing. Free range eggs?

The coffee is good enough. The cafe is in an old bank with beautiful chandeliers. If you can get a seat by the window on a rainy day its well worth the visit. The staff are great and friendly.

Coffee shop. Not much to say. Coffee was decent. I had an Americano and wife had a Flat White. Other stuff like scones/cakes etc can be pricey. Coffee itself is reasonable. Nice surroundings. It was quiet when I was there which was nice. Didn't like having to walk past folks smoking outside.

Esquire is a beautiful building and I was hoping to be able to score it higher. I ordered quiche and salad with coffee. I asked for the quiche be heated. It was barely warm. The salad was a couple of leaves and tomatoes with no dressing. It was busy but I felt that the staff failed to care about what they were serving or they hadn't been trained up properly. I hope to return and will review if my experience has improved.
