Lovely coffee, great location and it's dog-friendly too.
The pastries are especially delicious and the staff are pretty friendly.
A. D.
Really nice spot when the suns out! Went on a Sunday, super busy but big queue moved fairly quick. Good flat white (not hot enough) and iced Americano. Tasty toasties and cakes! Friendly staff.

A trendy box cafe located on the beautiful Bull Island (the only cafe there). There’s seating indoors and outdoors. Inside is very narrow/small with an aisle-like layout and seating is on a ‘first-come-first served’ basis (just a watch-out incase you were looking for a guaranteed long sit-down). Interior is well decorated, modern and chic and the coffee is top!
T. C.
It's rare that a cafe can add so much to a beauty spot. But that is exactly what this place does. A walk in the winter sun is even better with a Mocha in your hand.
A. C.
One of the best coffees I've ever had and a lovely toastie reasonably priced staff were very quick at serving and very pleasant and then you can go for a walk up the pier and dogs were welcome to
E. S.
Had a delicious ham and cheese toasties and Americano. Really quick service and very nice staff. I would definitely recommend.
E. P.
Great place to have a good coffee with a view!
Friendly staff. Some places to sit. Gets quite full on the weekends.
A. G.
Well worth the walk to bull Island. Sometimes all you need is a good toastie and at Happy Out they make the best ones!
Great spot for a hot drink too.
D. V.
The location of this little place is sublime. Right on Bull island, perfect stop before or after a nice walk. Good coffee and a great selection of sandwiches. Their "clucking unbelievable"is to die for.
S. K.
Fantastic location for a coffee shop. Lots of seating too and shielded from the windy weather!
Staff are friendly. The coffee was excellent. Good selection of food on the menu. Plenty of parking too. Great views of Dublin. You can sit there enjoying your drink while watching a the ships and boats cruise by.
R. B.
Great views. .. great coffee. Their sandwiches are awesome, not to mention their chocolate brownies 😋.
M. D.
Very nice coffee and quick service. Nice place to go when out for a walk on a sunny Sunday.
N. P.
It's a good cafe. The drink I ordered wasnt that great compared to the prize. Good staffs and good vibe
H. D.
The staff are super lovely and the setting is my favourite. Always get greeted with a smile. The sandwiches are delicious. Made with sourdough bread by a local bakery too. The coffee is tasty. Great addition to the area. Just annoyed I didn't think of it first!
r.
I have to say the coffee here is absolutely lovely and great staff
M. B. S.
I liked it because it is in a wonderful location and because they have an excellent espresso. In addition, follow all the rules imposed by the pandemic and something over.
K. H.
Delicious Coffee, great atmosphere, covid friendly and staff are brilliant..
R. T.
It's hard to say if the great view makes the food and coffee so good, but I say it definitely helps.
M. A.
Disappointing to see the Owner/Manager condone workmen at his business parking their commercial vehicle in a space adjacent to the business premises reserved solely for disabled drivers. “There are plenty of other disabled spaces” or words to that effect was the response. While he did agree to have the driver move the vehicle he claimed I was being aggressive. Standing up for people with disabilities is NOT aggression. It’s simply the right thing to do. It’s 2021, it’s long time drivers stopped parking in a selfish and inconsiderate manner.
The 5 stars are for the general staff and indeed the food which I’ve always found exemplary.
It’s also so that this review which highlights a serious problem in society is not relegated to the bottom of the reviews where it won’t be seen. It’s an important topic.
The manager’s disregard for disabled persons rights and indeed his false and unfounded accusation that I was being aggressive simply because I asked that the driver move the vehicle is noteworthy.
I fully support businesses such as this, great food, friendly helpful staff, and they offer much sustenance to walkers /Day visitors, however there needs to be an end to how people abuse the aforementioned disabled spaces.
Time of visit : 1pm 24/05/21.

It is a hidden gem on the beach road of Clontarf. My friend took me to this cafe. You have to go there by a wooden bridge by walk or car. It is absolutely beautiful😀. I recommend it.
M. S.
Great Coffee with a great view on Bulls Island. Just 20min by Bus from Dublin city centre.
N. B.
Favourite spot in Dublin on a sunny day. It's all about the location on Bull Island! Great toasties, coffee and snacks and plenty of space to sit outside (+ a few indoor seats).
S. J.
Lovely little place with friendly staff. Drinks, food and little treats are nice. Would be nice to have a bigger sitting area to enjoy the view. But when the weather is nice out you can't ask for more.
S. P.
I love this place. Such a good idea and don't know why there aren't more places like it. Amazing 360°views and great any time of the year. There is a small indoor cosy area to sit...my only criticism is that the wooden stools are very hard! A few comfy chairs would make it amazing.
m. p.
What an amazing little gem hidden away from us mere mortals who didn't know you could drive over the wooden bridge. The coffee was beautiful and the sambo was legend, so happy out!!! Highly recommended!
T. M.
Nice coffee, great hot chocolate. Had a couple of cookies and a brownie between us and the food was really tasty. Queue was a pain but moved quick enough and they had a good order / collect system in place so the order was out quick
P. B. E.
Brilliant location, excellent views over North Bull Island Nature Reserve and Dublin port, and most importantly good coffee. I had a cappuccino and chocolate brownie on a windy afternoon and they hit the spot!
L. S.
I love the set up, their coffee is gorgous - they have a lovely selection of cakes, toasties and croissants. After a long walk on Dollymount beach I cant think of anything nicer than one of their cakes or toasties and a Tea - a lovely way to end a walk. Highly recommend this "cool" venue 😊😊😊😊
D. Q.
Beautiful coffee and place to relax right by the sea friendly staff
e. J.
Nice place with a sea view. Usually quiet busy and no indoor seating at the moment. Coffee is nice too.
C. B.
Great spot for a welcome coffee break after walking the beach.
Quite a few of the customers were apparently unaware of the need for social distancing which made our visit a little more stressful than it should have been... Management could keep tighter reign on this.
B. D.
Coffee delicious, staff friendly.
H. I.
Great location, decent coffee, fantastic ham and cheese toasty. Always convenient to have near the beach on a windy day
G. B.
After a nice long walk along the beach, a great coffee and possibly the nicest ham and cheese toastie I've ever had. All while sitting in the autumn sunshine. ( Not influenced at all by working up an appetite. 😁)
S. C.
Great coffee, delicious toasted sandwich and fab views. I will definitely be back!
A. M.
One of the most specatacular places in Dublin to sit and drink coffee. Whether its sitting on a bench by the bay watching a sunset or sitting in your car watching the rain fall over Dublin. Happy out is a hidden Gem, amazing Coffee, amazing Toasties and friendly staff!
B. P.
Nom nom , after a long cycle it was great to get a good coffee and a pastry , very tasty ,relaxing and decent price
P. W.
Happy Out serves the best Cappuccino in Dublin and food second to none!
L. F. J.
Lovely little place with great coffee. A few seats inside and decking outside. Great after a blustery walk!
J. V.
Great cafe ! Really good coffee and wonderful breakfast options. It’s dog friendly and the view is amazing !!
S. C.
Lovely casual spot. Great location and simple food (toasties) made well. Nice to see a cage pick one thing and just do it well. Nice coffees well made too. A little pricey and a little busy on weekends but friendly staff and efficient service considering how busy it was.
A. B.
Cute outdoor only coffee shop. The hot chocolate with oat milk was delicious!
P. B.
If you haven't been, what have you been wasting your time on? Best coffee and sandwiches for miles! On a stormy day you could be forgiven for thinking you're in the west of Ireland, not a few kilometres from the city centre. The staff are friendly and helpful and all the food is fantastic. Sandwiches freshly made to order and really great coffee. Be warned, on a sunny day it will be busy, but it's worth the wait. Bull Island where the coffee shop is located is also great for a walk, run, swim, kite surf and lots more besides.
M. G.
Very happy with service. Although staff been busy with long queue of customers (pandemic times, takeaway only) they were still very friendly and remembered my partner asked for not too hot coffee. Thanks!
B. B.
Nice little stop for a refreshment after a long walk on Dollymount Beach.
B. G.
Lovely cafe where you need it most. Great iced Americano and treats
J. K.
Lovely coffee and very friendly staff. Perfect stop off on a sunny Sunday stroll
C. D.
Great little spot! Lovely coffee and location.
j. n.
love this place, massive fan..but the coffee was terrible today and the last day which is a pity..tasted like oatmeal milk both times strange taste..
hopefully it will improve
D. m.
been here a good few times. the sandwiches are always great and the coffee is always great (sometimes it can be a little on the cooler side when you get it...i prefer my coffee hot). the wait can be long, but worth it in my eyes. Also the staff are always friendly. one day when i was taking a sandwich of one of the girls, it fell, both of us were at fault and they made another one and dropped it out to me.
C. D.
Lovely place for a coffee or a lunch nice scenery
P. O. M.
Great cafe, and the coffee is good. Perfect on a cold morning for stroll on the beach! Sandwiches are tasty I had the chicken toasty and it was a little greasy. There seems to be a never ending queue but the coffee is worth the wait.
B.
Having been here on a number of occasions I can safely say the coffee and food are great!
However small businesses also rely on great customer services.
Recently my friend and I arrived 30/40 min before it’s closing time, hungry enough to eat my foot and we were told that they would not be making us sandwiches because they were cleaning up before closing.
Forgive me, but is the norm not to close and then clean up??
D. S.
A great spot in a fantastic location. It was busy when we visited but the staff dealt with the line efficiently. The coffee was good, I haven’t tried their toasties yet, but I’m told they’re worth visiting for!
P. G.
As a venue it's pretty unique. This place give a vista across the city very few places offer. Shipping containers converted into a coffee shop with nice terrace space wrapping around the building where you can sit and watch the world pass by. The coffee is really good, sandwiches and pastries are great. Only negative you can be waiting quite a while at busy times to receive your order. But you have that view to distract.
w. b.
We had a walk along the beach and then stopped here for a coffee. With Covid 19 restrictions in place it is takeaway only. There is a revised menu available but still enjoyable. The social distancing is well managed even though the que looks long it moves along quite quickly.
A.
Great spot, good coffee, nice views. Famous for its toastier, but doesn’t serve them after 3pm an hour before closing.
N. F.
A much needed addition to the walk across the wooden bridge. I love it 👏🏼
K. D.
Delicious toasties and coffee. Seating can be tricky and limited. Photo of their toasty menu below
J. C.
Great coffee and excellent toasted sandwiches (clucking unbelievable one of the best sandwiches I've ever had).
Great location with amazing views of Dublin Bay. Perfect after a walk in the beach.
Dog friendly too if sitting outside. Water bowls around the deck and dog treats for sale when ordering food/drinks.
J. P. B.
Nice coffe..latte plus nice walkl
O. M.
What a superb view. 'Happy Out Cafe' is a find. It is fabulous, on this cold & windy day I had hot chocolate with a toastie that was delicious & served promptly with a smile & chat. The staff are great. We will be back at the weekend to sample the coffee & sample some more of the wonderful tasty toasties.
H. S.
Nice place when it's sunny day and really good coffe
C. M.
Delicious toasties, great coffee and an amazing view!
s. H.
Just what we needed a coffee dock on the beach..... love it .... very reasonable priced and great food ..
N. D. G.
Great little spot. Nicest coffee I've ever had-and I drink coffee a lot. Can be very busy, there was a queue the whole time I was there it never got any shorter than 3 people !
T. H.
It was more than a sandwich, it was an experience.
It’s so much more than "just a sandwich." What heaven that first bite is. The bread, like a sesame freckled breast of an angel, resting gently on the cheese and tuna below, flavors mingling in a seductive pas de deux. And then…pesto! The most playful little pesto! Then a leaf of lettuce and freshly caught tuna so exquisite, swirling in your mouth, breaking apart, and combining again in a fugue of sweets and savor so delightful. This is no mere sandwich of grilled tuna and toasted bread. This is God, speaking to us in food.
Ruaidhrí and Zoe made my day with their bubbly personalities.
I will be back
P. G. h.
I had a lovely cupán tae from here. Twas perfect on a could day. The staff are as friendly! Perfect after a long walk.
R. T.
Amazing place, reminds me little shops in Spain near to the surfing spots. Good coffee, good food, nice atmosphere! And nice diary free options. 5/5 for their vegan oat bars.
I. O.
Not too fond of the coffee it's okay just couldn't taste the mint or the caramel in the coffees but the service was good and the cookies were delicious even our dog agrees, haha (don't worry she didn't get the chocolate chips)
S. R.
Great spot. Beautiful views. Tasty coffee. Didn't try the food. Service was a little bit slow but it was a sunny Sunday afternoon so I'll forgive them for that.
R. S.
Awesome coffee and tasty sandwiches. This is a great spot to have breakfast or lunch with fantastic views and close enough to the beach to go for a nice walk. Its dog friendly also.
S. D.
Great spot for a coffee/hot chocolate and toastie after a walk on the strand. Good quality and well run.
S. C.
Tasty food, good service and adhered to social distancing rukes even if it was outside.
M. F.
A grand mug of tea, coffee (or God help my waistline, hot chocolate(with marshmallows on request)) and a snack ranging from "vegan and healthy" to "sugary evil with cream on top" at just the right spot on what can be a very cold and windy walk (with gorgeous views). Love you guys.
Review updated from 4 to 5 stars now that they've added a "snug" windproof seating lounge for when the weather demands it.
S. C.
I tied my dogs lead to a chair when i was having a coffee. She then ran off with the chair across the road when i had my back turned. They were very helpful. I really like the coffee here and the toasties.
T. E.
Lovely coffee shop in an ideal location at the end of the Dollymount wooden bridge. Has a makeshift indoor space at the moment but I give it 5 stars because of its location and friendly staff. Back last week and it's better than before.
m. a.
I am always here for a latte, pet friendly , definitely 💕, great coffees and perfect to grab one on the way .
N. D.
Fantastic coffee, hot chocolate above average, toasties very nice, small indoor room, most sit down tables open to elements so wrap up warm in winter as it's very windy. Deducted one star for slow service.
J. D.
Wow. Words can't describe. The (very handsome) assistant really made my day, maybe even my whole week! I think his name was Jordan, he's the one with with the broad shoulders and classically handsome face. Would recommend
D. L.
Cool place. Not enough indoor seating for Irelands windy and rainy weather. But perfect for sunny days. The food is amazing👌🏽
P. C.
Really tasty coffee. Choice of toasted sandwiches. Queues can get lengthy but the wait isn't usually more than five minutes or so.
Bull Island was always my dogs favorite Sunday spot, now I can get a proper coffee and sandwich to sweeten the deal for me!
v. a.
Such a nice unpretentious little place to grab yourself a very good cup of coffee and something savory or sweet after walking on the beach. Very reasonably priced and all praise to the staff - they are working like busy 🐝. Thanks!!!
S. J.
This is a great little coffee bar at the end of the wooden bridge. Not loads of seating but enough to keep you out of the biting wind. Great views but bring 30c for the automatic toilet!
C. H.
Delicious sambos, great coffee, friendly staff and amazing views! What more could you want!!
J. W.
Lovely place for a coffee and a toastie
R. O.
Great coffee, great food, great view and great staff! Very unique place! Feel like I’m on holidays when I’m there. Would highly recommend it!
S. C.
Well worth the wait on a sunny Sunday. My girlfriend and I had a toastie each, a croissant and two coffees. Everything was fresh and delicious! FairPlay to all the staff, serious operation! Can't wait for my next visit!
E.
Great coffee & toasted sandwiches. Happy out is a welcome amenity on Bull Island. On the down side, I volunteer with the Bull Island Action Group doing monthly litter picking and have noticed alot of black coffee lids in the vicinity!
a. b.
OMG 10/10 best coffee around. Such a beautiful location, and the staff are all amazing. Especially the lads, they are as tasty as the cakes they sell.
J. V.
Really good destination.Nice coffee at Bull Island
M. M.
I go here after a walk by the wall. Coffee is great and a welcome relief from often bracing wind.
Only complaint is that there are no ceramic cups.
Everything is compostable cups and plastic cutlery.
c. s.
Lovely place for coffee and beautiful sandwiches. Fantastic setting overlooking the sea and lovely staff. Love it there, it is one if my favourite places to go.😀
F. G.

Happy Out, well I'm passionate cyclist who loves to work with coffee and still love a great spots which are not so open to anyone but here is a one of my fav Dublin locations on Bull island on right hand side from Clontarf reachable with Dublin bus 13 and walking, car or as I said my favourite way #cycling, it's a container maid coffee shop with absolute fabulous sandwiches and nice coffee to warm you up because there is really open space from see or any other direction. as I said, a gem not far from city centre and really for peace of mind...
f.
Just visited with some folk from. local nursing home who loved it. Really nice people running this place. Must be the cafe with best views in Dublin. Good coffee too!

D. O.
Really nice location and good coffee. If it's busy you'll be waiting a while. Lots of water outside for dogs.
L. B.
Great coffee, but unfortunately service is soooo slow. I think it was nearly 10 mins waiting for 2 coffees when it turned out they had only made 1!
Q. B.
Excellent coffee. A bit disorganized. No napkins or cup trays. Great setting on a fine day. Nice pasterys.
J. L.
CThey don't do hot soup which would be great for sea swimmers after their
cold sea swims ? Some bring flasks of soup with them but if soup was on menu it would be good
S. N.
Great coffee and equally great food. Fab on a sunny day to sit out and enjoy the views. Clucking unbelievable. 👍🏻
S. B.
Really great place, perfect to relax and have a nice cup of coffee or something to eat. Also there’s a great view! 😊

P. E.
😂 Happy Out, need I say more.
well if you insist.....
On a wet, dreary December morn the place was hoppin. I counted 30 bodies on site, all in animated conversation, with their hot soup and toasties.A bit of a delay, but the wait was good craic. A great half way house, after a brisk walk.
We'll be back next Saturday.
