Nice coffee but the sandwiches, scones, cakes etc are expensive. Surely the takeaway pre made options should be a bit cheaper than the pre covid sit-in freshly made options?

Went for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The place is nice and big (seems to have expanded into other retail units over time) and there was loads of tables available. The menu is very varied and the meal itself was lovely. I asked to change from the scrambled egg to poached egg for my breakfast and there was no problem with that. The orange juice was just a bottle which was a little disappointing and the bread was already buttered, which would cause problems for a lactose intolerant person. I would recommend this for a visit for breakfast though - the staff are helpful and any special requests seem to be ok.

Lovely old world coffee shop just beside the botanic gardens. Makes a lovely latte and rock bun. Staff are really nice and catty. Good range of coffees and cakes to choose from. Can be hard to get parking at the weekends.

Pass this place most days so it was about time to stop and try. They have a great choice of hot and cold meals to choose from. Plants of seating inside and out. But if you are sitting outside and it gets a bit chilly there are plenty of blankets to use. Staff super helpful and friendly.The food we got was fantastic but will be back to try more from their menu . Especially their unusual soups. Prices are not to bad. You pay for what you get (great food).One thing that would make their tea even better would be to use real tea leaves.

A bit pricey I felt and a limited selection. But in fairness covid may be to blame for the limited selection and the food is good quality. I had a lovely scone and the water in the tea was boiled enough to make a good cup but they never taste great in takeaway cups. They have plenty of outdoor seating.

Cute little place that is more like a tardis as it continues into adjacent rooms. Excellent coffees (they have Lavazza, double thumbs up from me) and nice selection of cakes as well as savoury options like Irish breakfast and breakfast bagels. I went back the following day and had the breakfast sandwich with brioche bread, it was so nice. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly service.

This place is so good that people drive to it, get out of their car, get a coffee, then leave. They do wonderful coffee and have a selection of alternative milks, such as oat milk. A little expensive, but well worth it because it's a perfect coffee every time. Consistently excellent.

This is my local cafe and I love it. Staff are friendly and food is good!very nice carrot cake and banana bread. Unfortunately the coffee could be better. While drinkable it misses out compared to some cafes in Drumcondra and phibsboro. If they had good coffee it would be 5 stars. Nice to sit out on a sunny day and good brekkie.

A very popular cafe/restaurant offering a really large choice menu to suit all palates. Staff always helpful and obliging. It is located near Botanic Gardens and also Na Fianna so best to avoid on Sat mornings as it is usually full. Menu options are great and the food of high standard. The only negatives for me are the lack of parking, which is why it is so popular with locals! The restaurant is split between two unconnected buildings which means staff have bring food from up to the other via the street. This is ok in fine weather but in the rain! But still it is well worth any inconvenience.

Fast service, delicious carrot cake. However, they need to combine both of the cafes internally and not constantly walking from 1 side to the other. They transfer the warm food, from one section, outside into the rain and cold and back in the other. Happy to help with redesigning the cafe.

Really friendly and attentive staff with great quality sandwiches made fresh and quickly. Came here on my lunch for takeout but I’ll definitely re-visit for a sit-in! Took home a carrot cake slice and it was delicious. Very busy, lots of people sitting outside.

Tad expensive and busy however food is very good. Had a brie sandwich yummy and as a cheese lover can say brie was good quality. Finished of with delicious cup cake and excellent coffee. McMahon's is a pleasant eatery and sitting outside has blankets for cold knees in the shade. All in all a decent experience and a godsend as botanical gardens was jammers. What a Fantastic place. If your just grabbing a coffee or meeting for food after a walk in the Botanical gardens, This is a Gem in Glasnevin. Great Staff, Polite and Cheerful, Service is great, very accommodating. Foods Fab, quality homemade dishes, Fresh and Tasty. I wish all food establishments were this good. Best Coffee ever.

One of the best Sandwiches I have eaten in a long time (shreaded beef on sourdough)! A taste tickling side salad taster accompanied it. The serve proper Italian coffee & seriously good soups. Faultless establishment. Keep up the good work folks. Highly recommend it to anyone 🙌

I was quite impressed with the service here. We were visiting from California, and will make this our special hot spot when we visit again. Terrific view out onto the street thanks to the clear towering windows. Nice to just gawk out at the world. Tea was very nice, the Guinness chocolate cake is to die for. Not too offensive to the taste buds just the right amount of flavour and moisteness. Staff are lovely, bit loud but sure look. I didn't like the menu being just a piece of a4 paper. All in all a fab little café.

Visited this little place before a walk around the Botanical Gardens. The food was excellent, tasty pork on brioche and sliced beef on ciabatta, both were served without fuss and no chips on the side which really annoys me in most other lunchtime eateries. I got what I asked for and it was delicious. Great staff as well. Well done to all at McMahons, will visit again.

Lovely local coffee shop. Ha é a coffee after you visit the Botanic Gardens. If you have a dog you can sit outside and enjoy your cappuccino. Oh.. And they even supply water bowls for your canine friend.

Completely adorable neighborhood cafe. Full at lunch, I snagged a seat at the front window bench. Delicious open-faced roasted mushroom sandwich and a cookie. Also offers soups, pastries, coffees, and other mains and sandwiches -- plus outdoor sidewalk seating under an awning. It was delicious and I loved it! Right around the corner from the Botanic Gardens entrance and bus stop.
