Reviews of The Music Café Dublin

Great atmosphere, fun music in the background and super comfortable vibe. Coming from the United States, it’s cafes like this in Dublin that I look for when I need a place to chill out and relax. The staff knows what they are doing and the drinks are fabulous. Not looking for coffee? Try the beer, wine or water.
100% will come back. Highly recommend the dirty chai and buying a bag of loose leaf tea to take home.
M. N.
Excellent coffee plus sweet service is a great combination in this lgbtq friendly café place. It's also worth mentioning a good selection of interesting books.

Lovely cafe on the quays. Great location and view of the River Liffey at corner of lovely Parliament Street. While away an hour or 2 over a coffee or a draught beer or glass of vino. Recommended to visit. EL

Great little cafe just over Capel street, Southside, on the corner. Plate glass windows give you a clear view of Capel Street bridge and the Liffey river. It's eclectic interior decoration, laid back friendly atmosphere made my stop for a latte very enjoyable. Staff were very professional, in these Covid times they took tracing details. They were warm and smiling and everyone entering were made feel relaxed and welcome. My first time there, but I will certainly be back!

Beautiful coffee with greasy tasting espresso. Had a wonderful Americano and, with a little cream, a delicious latte-esque drink. Paninis were also superb! Lovely food, cool atmosphere and great music. Loved it!I
M. M.
A woman was writing a novella beside me. I hope she got some inspiration from my handsome face. A lovely spot for a pint to let the creative juices flow
P. S.
Very nice place for coffee and breakfast just along the Liffey River. There's also often live music with local musicians (not trad though), and the cafe is a great spot for a glass of dry red wine or a tea after work or after going to the movies or dinner!
R. O. D.
Small quirky. Fits into this amazing old building on the ground floor. Huge old glass windows looking out over the Liffey and Parliament St Bridge. Coffees great too. Very varied menu. Free music every Friday evening with a glass of wine? What more could you need?
S. M.
I loved this café! Beautiful space with amazing staff! 10/10 I cannot wait to visit here again
M. L.
It's early morning in Dublin and I needed a coffee and pastry. This is a very small place with a cool, earthy-chic vibe. It has a front window to sit in peace and watch the world wake up. Superb flat white. Struck up a conversation with another visitor from afar. Give this place a visit. Highly recommended.
I.
Probably the worst tasting milkshake I’ve ever had. The chocolate cake is likewise too sweet. Pure sugar.
The atmosphere is nice.
Edit: thanks for the reply! Adding a banana instead of sugar would make the milkshake infinitely better.
M. B.
Wonderful atmosphere and delicious drinks and pastries. Their lemon cheesecake was heavenly! Totally recommend.
S. M.
Staff friendly and good for drink recommendations. Very chill atmosphere, ideal.
E. C.
such a cute place to people watch!! the staff were so lovely too.
E. B.
Have been a long term fan of this place. Don't get to visit too often but the coffee is always nice. Had a good hot chocolate here today with a friend. Best place for to feel cosy on a rain day and do some people watching. Staff are friendly and helpful. Prices are pretty normally. Broad range of coffees too. I'm a fan of their dirty chai too.
R. S.
Great place for your morning coffee, tea and cakes. I was here every morning and enjoyed great service from the smiling staff. They have a large selection of tea blends, cakes and sandwiches. Recommended!!
C. W.
Chic. Good Hot Chocolate and nibbles. A cafe for conversations. Laptops banned. It’s small. Great on a stormy evening by the river.
B.
Killer music, nice people, overall really comfortable; no matter coffee or beer, always a delight to be there!
B. B.
Nice, quaint coffee place on the corner of chaos of Temple bar. Went here as the Wednesday evening jazz band looked good from the outside. Stayed for coffee, nibbles and glass of wine. Music was relatively loud, but excellent quality, jazz and the atmosphere was enhanced by the friendly staff and great people watching location through the large glass bubble walls to the Liffey.
C. L.
Discovered this Cafe on a recent visit home to Dublin, good coffee & cake. Friendly staff, especially the Mexicans 🇲🇽
M. L.
Love it! Will have to go again. Great Central location, and has live music too. Not too crowded on a Sunday morning.
J. M.
I would say it is the best coffee in Dublin. It is a bit small, but the coffee is amazing, and they have really good vibe with live jazz music on Wednesdays.
C. V.
Good atmosphere, but the smoothie isn't a real one, and neither is the cheesecake
f. e.
One of my favorites coffee shops of the world . Good quality, ambient, baristas and views
E. W.
Simply AWESOME! One of the best Sunday brunch for such a low price! Highly recommended!
S. P.
Great little cafe, friendly service, good coffee, live music. Window seats great for watching the world go by
F. C. M.
Very friendly little cafe with lots of light. I had a latte to go from here, which was nicely made.
T. O.
Cute place, nice food, good price. But very busy, not a lot of seats and not great service.
K. B.
Cozy restaurant playing Jazz music. Excellent food and drink, nice view to the river, very friendly staff and great prices - try the goat cheese sandwich for only €4.
L. L.
Friendly, helpful service. Food was very well presented and tasty. It was extremely busy at mid morning and this needs to be taken into consideration if you have limited time.
The atmosphere was relaxed and surroundings comfortable. It is somewhere I always go to when in Dublin, even if it is only for their excellent coffee and cakes.
O. P.
The coffee is good. The ambience is nice. It is a good place to get an espresso.
A. M.
My sister and I visited the café yesterday. It was very calm and clean. The staff were very helpful and outgoing. We starving before we arrived and thankfully the pizzas (vege and pepperoni) came really quick. We also ordered a cappuccino and a chai latte. For any coffee lovers with allergies, this cafe also offers oat milk or almond milk. It stays open until 8pm, which was a huge plus, especially now with various cafés closing earlier than normal.
K. N.
Really nice staff and a great people watching spot!
J. M.
Always nice: good coffee, good cakes, nice Staff and sometimes also great live music
M. P.
Great place to relax and enjoy a coffee. The blueberry cheesecake was delicious :)
D. Y. (.
Nice place to sit and have a tea or coffee, only minus is there is really cold inside, even the front door was closed, me and my friend had to sit in the jackets 😅
V. L.
Absolutely love this place! Definitely my favourite spot to read a book while having a brunch and a coffee. Also really enjoy going on Wednesday jazz nights as well as on Sunday acoustics! Talented artists, lovely staff and amazing food. 😍
R. R.
Beautiful cafe in the middle of Dublin city centre. Staff are friendly. Service was quick and simple.
V. M.
Had lunch here yesterday with family and friends and it was amazing. Amazing surroundings felt cosy and welcoming. Had cappuccino and salad. Very fast service by the staff and beautifully presented. Was very tasty and was not disappointed. Everyone enjoyed there meals and 5 stars to the staff. Great choices on the menu so what will I have next time? Thanks for a lovely meal guys !!
M. I. G. D.
Great Place for coffee. They serve brunch all day!! I asked for the poached eggs with coffee for 9.50 € and it was delicious!!the place is really nice and on Wednesdays at night they have a jazz band. Laptops are not allowed here, but is the perfect opportunity to have a solo time and enjoy of a great book that you can read of the shell they have at the cafeteria.
A must of Dublin!! They also play great music like "Nicola Cruz". AMAZING
D. K.
We had a late lunch at the Music. It was great to find a spot that still had a good selection of items. The dining area is very comfortable with upholstered chairs. The service was attentive. I had the chowder, which had a salmon base, it was delicious. My friend had the meat pie which was very tasty and presented well.
L. T.
Their chai latte is one of my favorites in Ireland. The coffee is good, the view is quaint, it's got a rustic earthy feel and it's all about music. What more can you want? Food maybe, yeah they got that too. Love their salmon toasts.
A. P.
A lovely little hidden gem right in the heart of the city. Fantastic atmosphere and always have the right music playing to have a nice chat or lunch over.
Only criticism is there's a bit of an issue with space management given the size of the place - it's easy to get hit my a stray door and moving around can be a bit of a chore if it's even the slightest bit busy. This is amplified by the slow service that can be seen when the place gets a bit full as there are usually only two staff on hand.
However, they are always helpful and will gladly offer table service to stem the flow of people queueing up. This gives you a chance to sit and chat while enjoying the atmosphere the way it was intended. It's the perfect place to get lost in and enjoy a quiet minute to yourself or with a friend. You won't want to leave.
E.
Very nice coffee with some good treats too if you fancy them. The shop is so nice and you can find some bits that you usually do not find in standard supermarkets. Must visit.
M.
Amazing vibes going out inside this place! Excellent beer and relaxing atmosphere with a stage hanging just above your head. We had a chance to enjoy listening brilliant blues trio with a lot of soul in their repertoire. Not too crowded night with just about 20 people. Guys were loudly amplified and I’ve been hearing these weird reverberations from giant glass wall looking to Liffey river... Feels like a place you wanna visit many times again!
G. B.
Stopped by to get out the rain, and have stumbled upon a great cafe. Good coffee and great service and the music in the background is chill. I like this little cafe and will be back if I'm in the area.
J. S.
Really nice small place. Good coffee , some vegan options. Tasted fresh. No free parking in the area, so prepare to pay parking if you show up with a car. Great staff.
S. T.
This is a delightful small coffee shop. The staff are very friendly and the produce a good cup of coffee which can be difficult to find around temple bar. The prices are reasonable as well for the area they're in. The biggest table will seat about 3 people so not really ideal for a large group but still somewhere I would recommend for coffee and a cake
R. O.
Great view, coffee and service
E.
Lovely little cozy cafe, one of the best in Dublin. The staff are friendly, the coffee is great and so is the wide variety of teas. It's a great place to go if you wanna just chill by your self and read a book, or write, also great for a date 😉
T. B.
Very nice Coffee and friendly staff
Foto is dirty chai ( recommended )

Great cafe and a great place to hang out. There's food and drink here the same as any other cafe, but what the other cafes lack, is the character and feel of this place.
Many music events staged here through out the year. A really cool place 👍
D. F.
Cute place on the quays for a really good cuppa tea or coffee. You can put together your own blend (they have all kinds in jars). The coffee is really good espresso (coffee snob here). Staff are so friendly and service excellent. It is cosy so maybe not terribly spacious for buggies and wheelchairs although if its quieter it might be easier. They have live indie and rock bands sometimes playing on the upper platform too. Very hip place and cool vibes. With bob marley and red hot chili peppers playing over the speakers, cant get more mellow than that.
V. 8.
Cozy, friendly, Chai latte was really good :)
A. K.
The best coffee I had so far in Dublin. Nice and cozy atmosphere with good music. If you are solo they have a good selection of books to pass your time :) I visit them at least once a week
C. B.
Great spot for a quiet read and watch the world go by but it also serves delicious simple dishes. I had the avocado toast, poached egg and smoked salmon toast. The only thing I can really fault is I asked for no tomato (as I get very bad hives) and it arrived with them. My friends order was also wrong. Neither of us brought it to the staffs attention because they were very minor inconveniences. The desserts looked amazing but I didn't try any however would go back again to have a nosey. I also appreciated the no laptops rule as it makes for a much more open and natural cafe environment.
S. G. K.
My first time here. The coffee was hot !! A goid sign. Many places you only get lukewarm coffee. A nice fresh scone and jam as well. The staff are nice as well let me add. I will be back !! Sean.
N. T.
Tasty coffee, cosy place and live, chill music!
L. N. C.
The atmosphere is lovely here - great little spot for a a catch up with a friend, or a quiet coffee watching it all going on out the window.
The coffee is lovely (they do a really nice Dirty Chai Latté), and the cakes are often a bit unusual but always tasty. It's a real pretty little place that is sure to chill you out if you need it.
E. C.
Fabulous spot. Great wine and deserts and lovely atmosphere. Very cosy and nice to sit with friends and drink red wine on a winter night. Music playing in the background, not too loud, just perfect.
I.
The ambience of this beautiful cafe/bar/restaurant is most striking. Situated on the southside of Capel St bridge, it provides a panoramic view onto the Liffey. The service is good and the food nice. I like to sneak in on Saturdays around 12pm and lazily read The Irish Times. Always worth spending time and money in this sweet establishment with its multicultural mix. No better place, I feel, represents the modern metropolitan confidence of DC, especially on a sunny day. Advice: Go to the Music and the Music won't leave you!
B. W.
Coffee and cake are great. However, they have a no Laptop policy and all sockets are sealed (Although there are many). Chairs are rather worn down, but maybe this is part of their appeal.
f. n.
Super deicious coffee! Friendly barista but one of them often looked so annoyed with everything lol. They have toilet and wifi. Its a small cafe but good atmosphere. Wouldnt recommend for big groups. Theres one sear upstairs only for display, if they open it for use that would be awesome. I loved the caramel latte very much.
J. G.
So great, came in on a rainy day. Complete with romantic fogged up windows framed by piles of books. Attended by a wonderful Batista as I read my book with dainty jazz music whirling about. My mocha rough and reminiscent of mothers brews. A croissant to complement brought back the thoughts of Pillsbury with a hint of organic.
R. W.
Small, cozy coffee and tea shop overlooking the river. It's a great place to sit and get warm while you watch the traffic. They have a terrific selection of teas and an assortment of snacks.
M. W.
Cosy little breakfast cafe nearby the river Liffey. Sometimes with live jazz music from a small stage above the guest area. Great selection of tea in large, hand-labelled glass pots. Great place to relax and watch the hustle and bustle of the streets while enjoying a hot drink.
J. O.
Excellent place Live Music. Nice and old fashion natural make a la carte milkshake desserts brunch beers whine. All in the perfect location. Price really good.
J. v. L.
Nice place with a cool atmosphere. Definetly not a place to go and study. There is not that much space. After half an hour you will be told, quite rudely in my experience, that you cannot sit there any longer.
P. M.
No laptop policy, good location and decent coffee. Nice selection of cakes and sandwiches, but the place next door does better food and coffee.
m. c.
Great coffee and very nice breakfast
k. s.
The music cafe has a vibe that I can only describe as "Vicki Cristina Barcelona." Picture Spanish guitar, tapas, and wine/coffee thrown together with a loft for live music. Perfect for people watching on the quays, reading, and feeling hella inspired.
G. D.
Service disorganised but they weren't cnts about their ineptitude, they did say sorry. Still, 25 minutes for a toasted sandwich. C'mon
Otherwise, affordable and delicious food AND IPA on tap. They do fairly fair-fkn-play-to-ye variety of cheese cakes, and toasted ciabattas.
Basically you can have a decent pint in a snug set-up with cozy corner window viewing. Old-world Art Nouveux feel. Can't go wrong. Good call whoever the entrepreneur behind this venture is.
R. N.
Excellent and friendly service, with great atmosphere and decent prices. Highly recommended it for a cup of coffee during the day or a glass of wine in the evening, in company of good music! Open late.
D. W.
Decent coffee but a tight space. Conveniently located on the corner of parliament street by the quays. Good if you are going to the olympia or some event around parliament street or dame street.
R. B.
Super cosy and nice place, their sandwiches and coffee are so good, the tea selection is so wide, and the music is excellent. Pass by on wednesdays for a jazz night with a live band - the atmosphere is excellent.
S. C.
Breakfast is delicious but place is cold.
S. T.
It's getting there. The staff are nice but are certainly restricted because of the size so service can be a little slow. Nice people watching spot and they have a good selection of teas.
A. V.
My favourite coffee in Dublin. They have good cakes and sandwiches, so you can enjoy the Liffey River while you're drinking a good coffee.
They offer different kind of milk, so you can enjoy the best latte with coconut milk
P. L.
Quaint coffee shop in middle of dublin. Top class coffee. Generous muffins and pastries. Reasonably priced, lovely atmosphere. Right on the corner. Well worth a visit. You will go back.
I. R.
My favourite coffee shop in Dublin for a cup of tea, one of best selection of particular taste that u can find in the city centre. Enjoy the liffey from the window and drink your tea in a quiete and family atmosphere.
L. C.
Excellent in all respects, within easy reach of all kinds of public transportation. Very kind service, competitive prices. Finding a parking spot may be challenging.
d.
Pleasant coffee shop, nice to go to a place that's not part of some supersized global brand chain.
Complimentary newspapers to read, nice view to the quayd
Worth a visit
D. C.
great spot with excellent desserts! tip: you get great portion when you order the granola yoghurt. desserts amazing and nice setting for people watching
L. O. (.
If you're looking for a fast no nonsense cup of coffee, this is the right place for you. Open late into the night makes it the perfect stop for that late in the day coffee craving. Used to be called DwarfJar which I think gave it a bit more personality but that's just me being nitpicky.
B. A.
Lovely place, nice environment with good drinks and food. I highly recommend their Baileys cheesecake.
S. O.
Cosy wine bar/cafe with welcoming relaxed vibe and, if you're lucky, some live jazz from musicians perched in an alcove above the tables! You'll stay longer than you planned.
T. B.
Nice Music, Nice People, Nice Coffee, Nice Beer!
A. F.
The coffee was simple but the atmosfere is great and original - live spanish music was being played - also a great place to try wine and cheese

S. F.
Great coffee and perfect place for watching the world go by without feeling too much in the thick of it. Fantastic service. Perfection right on the river.
M. K.
Super comfy coffee and food spot right off the river. Sometimes live music plays above where you eat in the band loft.
A. C.

Coffee and tea is pretty big here in Ireland. . . actually it's Europe so it's big nonetheless. I went to several places and tried different variations of mocha and non really fit the bill with me until I went to Dwarf Jar.
It's a cozy little cafe nestled near Temple Bar and a block or two away from O' Connelly street. You put in your order and if you're drinking it there you take a seat and they'll bring it to you. For a small mocha it was 3.20 Euro. For a small it packed a lot of punch taste and coffee wise. It was the most delicious mocha I had in the area. It was the right balance of chocolate and coffee. Temperature wise it was in the range of a nice sip and talk kind of temperature. It's a great place to unwind for a little bit and enjoy the view since it's also located in front of one of the many bridges.
Since the windows are huge it's also a great place to people watch since it's such a busy street. They do offer free books to read while you have your coffee and they also serve breakfast/lunch; all day!! I haven't tried the food but I am very confident if their food is as good as their coffee you're set!! Cheers ^^

I'm a regular at this place for many reasons...
1. The cheerful socially friendly staff
2. The great coffee, and various teas
3. The open sunlight glass window space
There used to be some nice gigs which didn't interrupt the conversations too.

(Translated) Small place in the center, right on the banks of the Liffey. I recommend enjoying a nice cup of tea (they have a wide choice) or an American coffee with a nice piece of cake, sitting at the counter facing the windows overlooking the river. Relaxing and intimate place, where I had breakfast several times, and which has remained in my heart.

(Translated) Since this cafe was right around the corner, I had breakfast there. Two sisters from Mexico took very friendly care of the guests. I ordered a toast. Strangely enough, I got a delicious one with chips. I don't know why chips of all places. The coffee was very good. If someone prefers a sweet breakfast, there are many different pastries and cakes.
