J. B.My favourite place ever. Incredible decorations, fantastic cakes: pavlova, carrot cakes, lemon merengue, almond and coconut cake, apple tart and much much more, teas(my favourite green tea)and coffe. Staff is very friendly and helpful with huge portion of good humor. Love that place and visit whenever I'm in Carlingford. Highly recommend this caffe. They have also or maybe first of all breakfast and lunch menu.
M. M.YUMMMMMMMM!! What a great spot. Food was delicious. Staff lovely. Decor is fantastic. Desserts looked sooooo good but we were too full after lunch to try.
s. m. c.Thought it was a bit expensive and service a bit slow. We had a toastie, egg and onion sandwich and chips and goujons with three drinks and it was 46 euro. 😳 Food tasted good and the interior is beautifully done. The cakes looked amazing but I didn't taste them.

H. C.We visited this establishment a second time on 21st September 2021. The meal was fantastic well priced. Very covid restrictions aware. All the staff were very helpful and efficient in their job. We plan to make the two hour journey again shortly to explore the village and Ruby Ellen's will most certainly be on the agenda. I cannot recommend these tea rooms enough.
H. M.Visited here twice on recent trip to Carlingford. Staff were lovely and cosy, relaxing setting. Food is gorgeous and especially enjoyed the hot chocolate (with lots of marshmallows on the side) :)
Z.Ruby Ellen's is a nice spot for tea and cakes. The decor is really cute - like Alice in Wonderland. However we waited a long time just to order, then again to get the food (min 45 minutes in total). It was Saturday lunchtime so maybe that was it. The food wasn't great. The all day breakfast was what we came for but we were told they were too busy to make it. We got a toasties and a Bagel. Both were cold. The tea was really nice though, loose leaf, and the coffee was nice too. We didn't have any cakes but they looked very tasty - hense why I'd suggest just come for tea and cakes and not if you're in any kind of rush. The main lady running the floor is very friendly. Overall disappointing experience as it looked so promising on the website.

L. K.What an amazing hidden gem! Out for the day in Carlingford and Ruby Ellen's was recommended by a local shopkeeper. What a sweet place to stop! Warmly welcomed when we arrived and given a choice of tables inside or outside, in the sun or in the shade. We only wanted tea and a treat, a huge selection of both. We chose cheesecake and lemon meringue and a couple of different teas. Everything was devine! Utterly delicious food! The tea garden was just beautiful, all decorated with reclaimed furniture, so quirky and bright. The toilets were easily the cleanest I have ever seen, eating your dinner off the floor comes to mind! We will definitely be back the next time we're through the town. I must stop!
A. W.Adorable little tea house with amazing home made cakes. I had a mint chocolate cake and it was lovely, moist and not overly sweet. My Irish breakfast tea was great! My mom didn't think it was her best latte ever, but I mean.. it's a teahouse. Prices were reasonable for any specialty place with homemade stuff, see my photo of the outdoor menu. And so adorable inside. We really loved it. It's possible even the sugar cubes were home made. The house itself is small and cute, cozy and has a fireplace. It's not a large space but well worth a visit. We came here on recommendation from Garret at Carlingford Designs - Another place to check out. We weren't disappointed!
S. K.The tea is great, but we waited a long time. Also, there are two separate outside areas, one of them is very cozy and nice and the other one is tiny and in between two staff areas so it feels a little bit like sitting in a corridor. We were asked to sit at the least comfortable table, with two other full tables right beside us. When we asked wether we could move to the bigger, more comfortable and way nicer area they said it wasn't possible. Nonetheless, the food is alright and the tea is great. Another waiter taking orders and a cozier place to sit at would've made the experience way better.

We had the Prawn Open Face Sandwich which was just gorgeous & plentiful. Good coffee also. I did not have any of their lovely looking deserts but I saw lots being sold to go so they must be good. If I had one slight criticism it would be that the brown bread my sandwich was served on was far too sweet for me. Certainly worth a visit & I would return without hesitation.

H. M.We had a great lunch there today, the Pancakes with bacon and maple syrup was superb! It was nice to get a big teapot with tea made from loose leaves and a strainer to accompany. Staff were very friendly and the table beside the fire was cosy on a sharp March day. There was a good menu and the place was getting packed as we left after an early lunch. Prices were very easy on the pocket. Inside was just exactly what you would expect from a tearoom. The toilet was clean and well kept. No hesitation in recommending a meal there.

Its all so colourful, and the views are fantastic. And you'd get a proper old fashioned cup of tae, not a tae bag in sight. On a sunny day, there is no nicer place in Carlingford to sit out!

Shown to a table upstairs that seated 4 . Before we sat down I asked the server if it would be possible to have a table for 2 downstairs. She abruptly said no and walked off. I had only asked because I had noticed some tables for 2 were free downstairs. There is no need for this just be polite !!!.

B. K.Like stepping into someone cosy country cottage That's the feeling you get when you walk through the doors of this quaint Carlingford cafe. Service is qick and efficient. Staff are friendly and best of all the food tastes lovely and fresh. Ideal for afternoon tea and lunches there is a good variety of fare to choose from. Only downside is Ruby's is a little bit on the expense side. Overall a very good experience.
