So pleasant to deal with! Had us in and out with our food for takeaway. "Beck" or "Becca" was so friendly and helped us leave the establishment with smile. Top notch 😀

Never had a bad meal from Hook & Ladder in Castletroy. Lovely breakfast and lunch options. The staff are very friendly and considering the challenges of Covid 19 they remain approachable and available to see to your every need. Highly recommended.

It was Munster game day, service was a bit slow, great atmosphere but beers were few and far between. Haven't visited during a normal day, wouldn't recommend pre game.

€9.45 for 3 small pancakes is very expensive. They use to be quite large but now have downsized. The whole menu is a bit on the expensive size to be honest. Food is good.

You wouldn't want to be in a rush. Called in for a toasted sandwich and was left waiting beside the till for 25 minutes. Eventually asked a member of staff to follow-up on the sandwich and it had been sitting under there under the heater ready to be taken off for quite a while judging by the heat of the box. Nice sandwich though.

Love my weekly treat of hot chocolate’s. Always a pleasure.

Popped in again lrast week. The place was buzzing, every table full. Thankfully we managed to get one just vacated. Again super food, great coffee and very friendly professionals looking after everyone as if each person was the only one there. The lunch was fresh, very tasty and served with a flourish. As the saying goes; 'I'll be back'!

Amazing coffee and DELICIOUS cakes. Sometimes when you go to a coffee place you see a very good looking cake and think " Wow, it's looks yummy!"..you order it , you taste it and it's good but not as good as you had imagined..too sweet, too soft, too dry...In this place it's the opposite You look at a yummy cake and when you taste it is even better. Go for the almond one, its like eating a piece of heaven!!You won't regret it!!!

Early ish lunch so the wait time was not too bad - they don't do table booking so just rock up and wait. Still, the fact that the place had a queuing aspect probably says a lot about it. Waitress (or are they all Waiters nowadays?) was on the ball, sorted out a table for four in jig time - cleared away the evidence of little people and we were seated in less than four minutes. The second lady to actually look after us was a delight with her manner and craic - friendly but not intrusive. The food arrived reasonably fast - we were all on a tight schedule. The food was from Okay to good - the tuna was a bit dry, saved by the cheese and the chicken sandwich was likewise dry - possibly a side sauce of choice? Prices were about right, it's not a cheap place to eat but not outrageous either. All in all recommended.

I have never been a fan of HnL food, it always feels like its just been reheated as opposed to cooked. To prove this point i once visited for some breakfast and was told that their delivery didnt come in on Friday so all they had left was porridge, surly it wouldn't have been an arduous process to buy a few eggs from the supermarket?

I really like hook and ladder. But the place in castletroy is a bit different. The have a smaller footprint to work with and they have people sitting on top of each other. The last time I was there I had to get out of my seat,stand up,push my chair in just to let a waitress get past with someone s food. She was embarrassed by it and I dont blame her. Whichever greedy person made this seating plan should think about the reputation of H&L all well as there bottom line. Food good, staff nice all that. Just let me in peace when I'm sitting down!
