a.Honestly, so freaking good! I love this place! I live in Kildare, so sadly I can’t go often but every time I go it seems better! There’s inspirational quotes on the walls of the bathrooms which is very nice. The food is really really amazing too! I loved my chicken and waffles! A nice large portion as well! 10/10

L. O.I had breakfast here on Weds and it was such a nice experience. I was going to eat outside but I was worried it was going to rain so changed my mind and asked for a table inside instead. The staff couldn’t have been nicer or more patient & helpful when I had trouble finding my vaccination cert, i got there in the end. I had the vegan bla which was really tasty & a cup of delicious orange roibos tea. The space is really nice place to spend time and there’s something for everyone on the menu. The real draw is the staff who are all so warm and attentive in such a pleasant way.

I honestly would have got a nicer & better cooked breakfast from most Garages! But, as I say, I saw lots of nice looking dishes on other tables & if because of nothing else I will be back to give it another go because of the staff alone...

S. C.Wow! Loved it! After two visits I almost feel like I’ve made new friends the staff are so friendly. The food is delicious and seems to arrive supernaturally fast. For us disabled, it is easy to access both floors and the loo. Hope to back when in Limerick again. Oh, lots of the art and stuff is for sale, so ask if you like something.

T. P.Stopped in here for breakfast while here in Limerick for a few days. Very glad I did as I was immediately impressed by the eye-catching decorations and stylish atmosphere. Very kind and attentive staff helped to provide a grand experience. Though I didn't think I ordered much, I was stuffed by the end of the meal and it didn't even set me back €15!
Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a fantastic experience while Limerick!

The drinks here are amazing as well and the blueberry pancakes (which are just topped by blueberries) are insanely tasty. There are 3 pancakes in a portion, so it might be a bit too much for some:)

R. B.The staff were trying really hard but the food and service was disappointing. Asked for no onions on sandwich but still got them, waffles had so much sweetness on them with coulis straight on it causing it to be soggy and limiting customers ability to balance the flavours. Coffee was also weak but I made the mistake of asking for a large but I should have been clearer. I could see the staff were under pressure and appreciate their efforts.
T. W.I always on the scout for places to have a brunch on Sundays in Limerick. I have heard this place and seen many times but didn’t got the chance to visit and noticed it is always quite full. Today is the day, i was greeted by a wonderful lady Gio from the moment i enter. She take good care of me from finding a seat and recommending a menu. Food was a blast, i devoured everything on my plate from waffle, sausage, and egg. Top it with a coffee americano. Overall a must visit and i can’t wait to try other meals on their menu. The service was top notch and ambience was cozy.

Local 5/5 - very cozy, varied spaces. You can have couch, wooden chair, natural or artificial light. Love it.
Time to serve 5/5 - we got our food In less then 10 minutes.
And if not for anything else - go there for some epic, moment defining coffee. It was best the mocha I've ever had. So impressive.

The only suggestion I would have is for a lighter espresso roast, the flat white had really nice velvety foam which is over half the battle, but the roast was pretty dark and strong.

t. l.I was a little bit disappointed here, I was expecting great things. I ordered the avocado on toast with poached eggs. I asked them to leave off a couple of the menu ingredients that I felt weren't necessary to the dish and they were happy to do that, however when the food came there was a pile of unadvertised salad leaves on the avocado, under the egg, which were unpleasantly wilted and I had to spend time picking them off before I could start. That and the fact I think it was sat for a few minutes before it came out meant the eggs had start to set (just a little) and the toast was a bit soggy. I also had to ask twice for some white sugar for my tea. However having said this, the place is clean and bright, the menu varied and interesting and the food was pretty well cooked and of a good quality. I would definitely come back and give them another go. The tea was excellent and the staff were very friendly. On a second trip I suspect I might be rating them higher.

We tried the local Treaty Beer and it was fantastic. So much so that we went off to find the brewery (which also did not disappoint). The staff was helpful, the place was clean and upbeat, we were in Limerick for 3 days and went twice to this gem of a place. You need to try this place out.
Go check out the downstairs if you are seated upstairs... very cool cooking school location and adorable decor! LOVE THIS PLACE!

C. Ó. C.Excellent food, excellent staff with a delightfully quirky interior. They were easily able to seat myself and my group of 10 for a latish breakfast. Our waitress had great rapport with us and gave us a good laugh every interaction we had with her, while also not being overly intrusive or annoying. For large groups I advise having cash on you as they will not split the bill for groups of more than 6 people (which is understandle). The breakfast menu is very American, mixing sweet and saviory palettes together. If I was forced to come up with one negative comment, it would be that I wish I'd been given more cream with my french toast, however, in saying that the food was gorgeous and arrived at oir table a lot faster than we expected considering how busy they were. Everyone at the table was thoroughly happy with what they ordered and were very full by the end of the meal. They were even overly accommodating for my friend who ordered the "Chicken and Waffles, without the waffles" and gave her exactly what she wanted.

G. E.I’ve eaten here lots in the last 12 months with family and friends. The food is lovely-soups, open sandwiches and home baking. The one thing that frustrates me and stops me going back more frequently is unfortunately the staff. I’ve been forgotten about downstairs and had to go looking for waiters, had drinks added to the bill and being short changed and the roll and had to go back. Hey, no-one’s perfect but too many mistakes I’m afraid. The food is so nice it’s just annoyingly frustrating.

The restaurant was quite busy and we had to wait for a table for about 5 minutes. It was good to see a restaurant busy as i feel its a refelection on the food thats been served. We were seated down stairs and promptly handed menus.Our order was taken and we got our meals within a reasonable time. My chips were not very warm i informed the waiteess and she had them replaced. I then noticed the dish i ordered didn't contain the filling i ordered. My experience was that the staff seemed under pressure and not very plesent. Would i go back? I would give it a second chance and hope me and my family would have a better experance.

J. S.We were legging it out of downtown Limerick on Easter Monday - running for our lives. The punters staggering along the streets were straight out of the Thriller video - and it wasn't anywhere close to midnight. The shops were boarded up and tumbleweed blew down Main Street, murky characters leant in doorways, spitting and smoking, poverty brutally stamped on their faces. Is Limerick the town the Celtic tiger forgot?
Killaloe seemed like a better bet so I put my foot down and headed east. About 5 minutes from the centre, Hook & Ladder caught our eye. Could this really be an almond-milk-flat-white-superfood-salad type place so close to Limerick city? That's exactly what it is - and a good one too. Plenty of choice for vegetarians (except no meat-free sandwiches which was weird) but good choice of salads - the type that fill you up. All food was tasty and fresh. Most are probably vegan friendly. The coffee was good, as was the service - and the decor rustic/eclectic semi-hipster but thankfully no Edison light bulbs. Only slight complaint is that the food portions are way too big and therefore presumably there's lots of waste.
If this place was in Dublin I probably wouldn't bother reviewing it - but in Limerick it's a find and should not be passed by.
T. F.Had a wonderful experience recently at Hook & Ladder Limerick city... went in for coffee and scone and when I went to pay, realised I had left my wallet at home! How embarrasing!! Not only did the Manageress tell me it was ok not to worry, but she also gave me ten euro to get out of car park!! How incredible is that! Will always make a point of calling in there now when I am in Limerick! The food there is soooo good also...
