Beautiful place and gorgeous food

Beautiful place for lunch and a lovely stroll along the canal. The Cliff at Lyons near Newcastle is a very picturesque spot

No expense spared in restoring this magnificent courtyard/houses. The cafe is small so reservations are recommended. The staff are trained to expect the queen of England to walk in the door so don't be disappointed when they treat you like a nobody, it's not personal, they can't help themselves from being snobs. Moaning over, it's still worth a visit to see how the late Tony Ryan spent his money beautifully restoring the estate. The Grand Canal runs adjacent to the estate and makes for a very pleasant walk or cycle. If cycling, bikes can be hired in the food shop located in Dove Square. Helpful? Please Like.

Attended a wedding here and the food and staff were second to none. The smoked duck and poached pear was beautiful. Highly reccommend.

Beautiful place. Not a lot of variety for allergy sufferers.

Not sure if I should say too much about this wonderful place, as more people might visit & then I would not be able to sit back, relax & enjoy their wonderful cuisine. I love the place.

Pleasant place to end up after a Sunday stroll along the canal. Surprisingly busy. Staff strangely uninterested in offering proper service. Left standing waiting to order coffee at the counter while a senior staff member chastised staff in front of us.

A lovely if a little more expensive venue since its name change from Village at Lyons to Cliffs at Lyons. The staff are very well trained pleasent and helpful. The food is delicious and ambiance perfect. Its a lovely little escape or a short diverson from the stress and strains of modern day life.

This is a real gem of a place. Try visiting A Guinness's grave too, if you get the time. Its nearby.
Only bad point is, this place is only found by chance. There are zero directions to get here. By the way , it's not known as Dove Square, it's know as Lyons Estate!!!
Suggest, you allow yourself about one extra hour to find the place. But it's worth it.

We had dinner in Juniors last night and yet again it delivered top notch dishes. The food is always delicious with amazing flavours. Well done Chef working in such a small space. Love this ltl gem. 💕 A pint in Slatterys after .. love Dublin.

Definitely one of the most beautiful places I have been to. The architecture, nature and attention to detail make this place a real gem among others. We had orangery breakfast experience and it wasn't that breathtaking, compare to Avoca or Straffan Antiques was rather modest. However, it was tasty and 2 members of staff went above and beyond to make us happy. It was a blond, mature lady and a Polish guy. No name badges unfortunately (very strange) so I don't know their names, and it's a pity, because there was so much staff there that day, but only those 2 mentioned before seemed to be doing all the work. One of the young girls too our food even though we didn't finish, our cutlery was still in 'I'm still eating' position, didn't ask how was it , have you finished, no, she grabbed it and was gone. There was also a lady who, I presumed, was a manager. Oh my god, she was cutting the butter into portion without the gloves, then attended the cash register and got back to cutting! She dropped 3 slices and didn't throw them away! I know that this can happen in any kitchen, but the clients don't need to know about it! Close the kitchen door! We had, probably, the best seats, but the view was on the dishwasher and a rubbish bin. Then the same lady jumped with her shoes on the sit to clean the menu board, hopefully nobody with white clothes was taking that seat. There were silly things, of course, but this place could be top notch, this didn't go along with the image they supposedly wanted to achieve. At the end of the breakfast we were very nice surprised by the same waiter/barista and then we met by total coincidence the same nice waitress about 6 more times and her smile and culture was really nice. We also met several other staff members on the grounds and they were all very nice.
The grounds are superior to most other places, the rooms and cottages interiors are fabulous! There's also a SPA, and I cannot wait to become a guest of Cliff at Lyons and use the SPA. This place should be Ireland's top 10 hotels to visit!

Beautiful spot, great for an event. Food was really good but overall service wasn't up to scratch, training I think. Will get better.

We know Dove Square as Lyons Estate. Excellent food and service but a little pricey in my opinion.
