J. T.Loved this little place. We ordered Cajuan chicken wrap, the Pantry slaw salad and a Beef and Guinness pie. The menu is extensive and there is something for everyone. Highly recommended. The food was excellent

The salad unfortunately wasn't well seasoned and the dressing was tasteless. The lemonade was very sweet and didn't taste like lemon. Mostly water and sugar.
The sandwich had a hint of goat cheese but not enough to satisfy a craving.
It'd be great if they'd serve food in proper plates in future. Currently, it's not so environmentally friendly. ☹️
C. O.Popped in for lunch with my girlfriend as we were in the area and looking for a spot to eat. Very pleasantly surprised to find such a lovely cafe in the middle of the town, and is definitely worth turning off the M7 if looking for lunch on your road trip
We opted to sit outside as the weather was nice. The outdoor area is heated and very comfortable and the garden area is a lovely setting. The staff were very accommodating, warm and friendly.
We both ordered ciabatta sandwiches and tea/coffee. The sandwich itself was delicious, very fresh bread and lovely flavour in the filling, one of the nicest sandwiches I've had. And the coffee was also up there. We both finished with chocolate biscuit cake which was delicious too. All in all the price was very reasonable and the food was superb.
We will 100% be back the next time we are passing through.
S. H.Wonderful and welcoming staff. The food was absolutely delicious (I had turkey, brie, and stuffing sandwich). My husband had the quiche and said it was more like a pot pie (a good thing). My daughter went after the green bean salad over the carrot cake. The coffee was nutty and properly done. Thankful for a great experience here in Ireland. Also. Carrot cake-yes.

o. c.We visited this cafe on way from a few days in Abbeyleix, we were greeted by a lovely girl and brought us out to the seating area, it was raining so she got us a seat with covering and heaters, the staff were all happy and smiling even with masks on. We ordered coffee and 2 cakes which were delish 😋, there was alot of choice on the menu unfortunately we had only had breakfast but we will return for lunch again. Perfect for a casual lunch.
H.Ideal stop off point if driving between Dublin and Cork. Had a succulent Quiche Lorraine and boy did Lorraine do the job. A lot of the options such quiche, frittata or pie come with a choice of two salad dishes. I would recommend the chickpea, goat's cheese and mint or the homemade crunchy red lettuce coleslaw. This came to around €7 and was definitely worth it.
There's an idyllic wee garden out the back which was a perfect sun trap.

Sooo disappointed BUT THEN when I asked for gluten free things, they steered me to a nut loaf served with TWO salads and incredibly delicious dressing!!! Heaven! Oh boy will I be coming back HERE!! S. B.We had a lovely visit again to The Pantry Cafe and this time it was even better in the Walled Gardens with the added bonus of live music while we enjoyed our tasty food that included a "to die for" Piña Colada cheesecake.
This is lovely place that we only discovered recently despite living in Portlaoise for years -at least Covid did that for us !! The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful and food is quality.

A. D.My friend and I came here for a late Christmas lunch.....well worth the wait. Not a carvery here, but delicious homecooked meats - ham and chicken - and a great range of bespoke ciabattas and wraps, too. I'm sure there was soup, but I didn't have that, although, if I had, I'm sure it would have been delicious also. For a sweet treat, I had the pear and almond individual tart.....warmed and served with coulis and cream. I know I'm overusing the word, but, delicious..... very courteous staff. You order and pay and the food is brought to your table. It's a very cosy place, with tables placed very well in the available space. The decor is warm and welcoming, with pretty lights and lovely cushions dotted around. All in all, a very pleasant experience which I will soon repeat, even if just for that tart......bliss.....

Lovely selection of salads and the vegetable soup was beautiful and allergen free (dairy etc) the mixed berry crumble was nice but just personally I would have liked there to be a little more fruit in it .. overall though a fantastic spot and friendly helpful staff

R. N.Friendly staff, good food and satisfactory prices. We went in a few minutes after they opened and got a super service. By the time we left, the cafe was only about 25% full. Things seem to move slowly in Portlaoise.
Anyway, all four in our group enjoyed their food. Two of us ordered bakewell tarts and found them a bit on the dry side. The French toast was probably the best, but they should reduce the amount of syrup they drizzle over it.
R. C.Recently popped in for a take away coffee and was pleasantly surprised to find that they stock a couple of plant based milks. Unfortunately, the oat and rice milk combination suggested ended up foul tasting and I suspected this was due to one of the milks being open and in use for too long. Could be completely wrong though..
Issue was handled very well by the lady at the main till who was more than happy to provide a fresh replacement black coffee. Seems like a nice place to eat in - from what I spotted the selection seemed huge!

Z. C.Every small town in Ireland should be so lucky to have a café like this! Twee, cosy setting with a fabulous selection of cakes and salads - as well as a breakfast and lunch menu. Everything was well labeled, with options for vegans/vegetarians. The french toast is worth travelling for alone! Big generous pots of tea and wonderful service. Far nicer than many cafes I've dined in Dublin. The only slight let down would be the bathrooms, they're very small - but clean. I love that the owner has his wedding cards framed on the walls, such a nice personal touch.
