M. D.Dr. Maurice Cowhey has been our family GP for many years his patience and care has been steadfast . He is a proper GP who is capable to assess quickly the needs of his patient. When he says move you move! He is dedicated and running a very busy practice extremely well considering the pressures of modern day Ireland health service. His care has been so supportive to us as a family. He has a great back up with Dr. Yvonne but his best weapon is Betty she is out on her own and was such support for us at a very emotional time. our family thanks them for this
G. M.Attending Dr. Maurice Cowhey for over 20 years. Dr. Cowhey is first and foremost a gentleman a G.P in keeping with the ideal model of family doctor. Dr. Cowhey skill in undertaking physical examinations are clinically superb ...in an age where many younger G.Ps have minimal skills in this area. Dr. Cowhey is inclined to be an overly conservative prescriber which is perfect when we speak of overuse of antibiotics but really becomes a problem when long term and well known patients report long term distress without adequate medical intervention. Underprescribing is as dangerous as overprescribing. Dr. Cowhey at times is too quick to move the patient on to consultants, particularly if one holds private insurance. Providing a more honest and proactive service may serve patients better .....more emphasis on lifestyle changes with respect to smoking, drinking, diet and exercise. Dr.Cowhey is a G.P who could use "social prescriptions" to motivate patients to become more responsible for their own health if he can overcome his natural inclination to avoid "disturbing" his patients. Dr.Cowhey is generous with his consultation time which is a major plus when attending his practice, as while one may have to wait beyond the appointment time, but once in there is very rarely a problem in getting the time one needs. Dr.Cowheys practice has always been run with the utmost courtesy and professionalism with exceptional office management by Colette, Clair, and for the past decade or more by the ever present Betty. Dr. Yvonne O Sullivan has been a great addition to this practice, as has the Practice Nurse who is a great source for health information. Overall, I have been fortunate to have located Dr. Cowhey's practice and while being very proactive about my own health have always found that having a G.P who knows me and my health for a long time to be a great source of security in my life. I recommend this practice highly to all who value their health and wellbeing.
