L.A great hotel stayed there recently decided to return after a previous stay felt very safe with all that's going on with covid, the hotel has a huge lobby and bar restaurant area which is ideal for social distance,. We dined in the bar which was perfect we were a party of 4 and everyone enjoyed the meal, the room was perfect lovely and warm room service was availed of . I would recommend the hotel it was great value the only thing is that's its a bit out of town but we felt it had enough going on to keep us there.

The room had everything we needed, the bed was quite big and comfortable, ideal!

M. D.Stayed at the hotel for two nights, with family. The hotel staff were excellent and the food was lovely. Well organised fresh breakfast and plenty available. We had two evening meals and both nights food was delicious!
The hotel overall was very clean, one complaint the carpets in the bedrooms looked like they could do with a good shampoo! Overall we had a lovely stay !

Breakfast was good, plenty to choose from. Little pastries were nice, Irish breakfast too. I would definitely go back.

M. K.Spacious rooms. All amenities. Bar and restaurant all in one area, though well supervised re COVID regulations. Staff courteous and helpful. Have stayed here on two previous occasions and enjoyed each visit.
M.It's a really nice place, nice food and nice staff but the room is bit cold and it's February.
W. G.Stayed here from November 20th to 22nd. On check in the lady that checked us in seemed odd, not too pushed and unfriendly. Meet her in the hallway when carrying in stuff. We politely said hello but she also ignored us. In our junior suite there was a light that kept flickering but never said anything. Maybe she should take note from the restaurant staff as you couldn’t meet much friendlier people than them and willing to help. Ordered towels on Sunday night at 7pm before dinner. No sign of towels until the second phone call at around 10.00 or 10.30 the same night. Other than that food was lovely, as I said restaurant staff were lovely and people should take note of how they treat guests and gym is also ok

P. M.A modern 4 star luxury hotel only 5 minutes drive from Ballina town centre. Although if you are staying here there is really no reason to leave the hotel itself as plenty of relaxation and activity options are available - the spa offers various therapies and massage while to keep active there is the leisure centre with swimming pool, steam room, sauna and gym. While you are doing all this there is a supervised club for kids if that applies to you. The hotel has a great reputation for delicious food (check the other reviews) and the accommodation prices are very reasonable.
E. F.What a lovely weekend spent at this very relaxing and welcoming hotel. I couldn't fault the service, it was 2nd to none. The staff were all very friendly and efficient. Located just outside Ballina and a great base for exploring north Mayo. So we'll organised with slots for breakfast,dinner and the leisure centre so everything running like a dream while managing numbers. Lots of lovely outside seating. We will definitely be back very soon.

Arrived at 3.20pm and room was ready, the room was very spacious, very clean, comfortable bed and in a quiet area!
We used the pool on both days, quiet, very clean and comfortably warm!
Used the restaurant on both days, fantastic breakfast, great selection, evening meal again a great selection and reasonably priced!
Staff very friendly, warm and welcoming from the minute we arrived!
Highly recommended and will definitely stay again!

D. H.Stayed at the hotel on Friday and Saturday night 18th and 19th September. Rooms were spacious and very clean. The receptionist who checked us in was very helpful in explaining everything about the hotel and the current restrictions. Dinner and breakfast were excellent and the bar does a great pint of Guinness . All the staff were very courteous and friendly and the Covid measures in place are very well handled and with little or no inconvenience. Will definitely be back to the Great National and highly recommend staying there.

R. C.Had a nice break here but a few things let it down. The hotel setting is quite industrial with little ambiance. They would benefit from changing one of the four or five car parks into a nice garden to sit in.
The dinner menu is very limited, especially if you have meals included in a room deal. There were three chicken options and then a steak which had a supplement. A little more variety would be nice.
Rooms are well laid out but the carpet in our room looked filthy with stains. There were extra charges on my room, at checkout, that we hadn’t signed for. They did remove them but it was just lucky I caught them. They need a better system for charging to the room like checking keys. Any one can charge anything to any room with any real issue.
Pool was good for families but a little run down. The render on the ground around the pool was crumbling away and would stick to your feet and end up in the pool.

J. M. I.Needs a bit of t l c. Bedroom furniture is a bit dated. Its out a bit from the town. So if you want to go for a meal and drink in the town it's a taxi there and back. Menu in hotel not great. But the food they did do was very nice if maybe a bit expensive.

I would highly recommend here. The food is beautiful and very reasonably priced. The beds are so comfortable, rooms clean and myself and my sisters will definitely return here.

A. R.Spent two wonderful nights here with my wife and two girls. The staff were extremely helpful with any requests we had. The family room was large and comfortable. The leisure centre was clean and yet again the staff were great. Had dinner both nights and even though there was a function on one night and a wedding the next the staff took their time making sure we were happy. We will return.
M. D.This hotel is really great spot to spend a night or two. Only downside was no lift to get to the first floor, I know there not many steps up to the first floor but I feel for anybody who is in a wheelchair or has a disability, maybe I didn't spot the access designed for them. With Covid I couldn't understand why they had measures in place when the hotel wasn't following the biggest thing of all which was mask wearing. Staff wore masks or visiors but the guest a lot didn't wear them. I felt for the staff as it showed how little the employer valued the staff safety they had working for them.
Like last night at dinner people got up to speak to staff members and none I saw had masks on them when speaking to staff or leaving their tables, why are staff protecting guest when guest aren't protecting staff. Even when I queued up for breakfast I was the only one wearing a mask in the queue and I value my safety and my families and I don't want to be bringing back Covid on my travels cause the place I'm staying in won't make sure guests are wearing masks.
Plus its about us as a country getting on and living with Covid and with places not making sure masks are worn will result in cases going up and lockdowns and business specially hospitality and many more won't survive been shut again. Other wise lovely hotel great room and loved ❤ the Barry tea bags in the room, specially been from Cork, nice touch

C. S.We ate here and had a few drinks. My daughter and her 3 children stayed. The accommodation was fine, kids club - kids delighted. The food was horrendous, both adults and kids. The bar service was fine. Prices as you'd expect. We sat outside - nowhere for children to play safely - hoping they'd put in mini playground as they have plenty room. The staff were friendly.

I was there for work but looking around its definitely a great place for couples and families with special offer on Sundays "dine and swim". The receptionist he was really helpful and friendly and happy 5 stars. Food beautiful and service excellent.
M. Q.Attended a wedding here last week end and feel I just want to say a few words about hotel and staff. NOTHING was to much trouble to any member of staff . Wedding meal was truely exceptional and piping hot.Total service from start to finish of our stay was 100%

M.A Nice Hotel, I stayed here for a night on business, we were late to check-in, but he car park was large so had plenty of spaces to park in, we were greeted by very friendly reception staff who sorted us out rooms very quickly. The bar food was good as was the Guinness! The hotel itself was well kept, clean and relatively modern. My room was a large double room with good facilities and the breakfast in the morning was very good also. If i'm here again on business i wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel again.
M. H.Lovely hotel. Great location , nice quite area of Ballina but still driving distance from lots of attractions. On arrival the kids got a lovely welcome pack with t-shirts, magnets and colours and an activity pack, which my boys loved. Very helpful and friendly staff. We had dinner in the restaurant which was beautiful, I had a delicious curry. And breakfast was also lovely.
T. M.Nice Hotel. Ticks all the boxes if you need to be in lovely Ballina. Very friendly reception and staff. Definitely will be back. Big spacious rooms and none of the hustle n bustle of larger towns and cities. If you want a central location or base camp in Mayo, this is it. Great value for money.
E. K.I won a voucher at my Christmas party to stay here. So I ended up booking for two nights stay and my mum and dad joined me for it. We had a fabulous time in the hotel. We had a really comfortable relaxing time and the food was delicious. I treated myself to a tension back, neck and shoulder massage in the spa. It was heaven. Such a lovely relaxing experience. All in all I can not wait to go back.
C. S.Location was nice, had a banquet that ended up being a starter main and very small dessert sample of 5 different desserts. Would have rathered actual choice of desserts. Unfortunately also not a good band they were continually getting words wrong in songs nor did the style they played (indie/punk) match up to the classic rock or pop songs not to mention the hack job for Christmas songs. Otherwise I liked the facilities of the hotel including decor ambience and location. Would come again.

M.It's not too bad, very conveniently located if you are visiting a certain manufacturing facility nearby but it only exists because of that certain manufacturing facility. I don't mind the old carpets and stuff, the rooms are not bad, it's just that the food (for dinner) is truly awful. Breakfast and lunch are ok.

Only one suggestion, could someone please change the in-house music three days of jazz music morning noon and night is too much.

Hotel: beautiful hotel. Foyer very grand, very clean. Toilets are clean
Rooms: rooms were very clean. Only annoyance was the shower is 226 was flakey going hot to cold to hot
Restaurant: limited menu but everything in it was delicious. (We were a large group). Breakfast was good.
Bar: limited selection of beer otherwise nice clean bar with friendly staff. No craft beers available.
SPA Facilities: These aren't great. It is run down with corrosion on the hand rails, the steam room doesn't work, the Jacuzzi just about works. The pool was just about warm.
S. M.Most importantly the hotel was well priced!! As opposed to other hotels that are overrated and overpriced!! Matthew who worked at reception couldn't do enough when we arrived. Went for a meal in the bar and was very good. The French waiter who served us was an absolute gentleman and everything was no bother. Would come back to great national again. Stephen mulligan.
M. M.It's fine for putting the head down. Stag party, visiting family or sightseeing etc. Not suitable for a weekend away with your other half. The restaurant is part of the bar (a small timber partition half way up the bar partially divides the room), so if you want to treat her to a nice meal you'll have to leave the hotel or shout at each other across the table. If the restaurant is full you'll be seated in the bar... (The romance 😂). I felt such a fool for booking it, I was genuinely embarrassed and now I have to book us another trip away 💸💸💸. This time I'm not taking any chances ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. On the plus side the girls behind the desk are very nice and very helpful. Summary: It's a reasonably priced room.
P. O.Lovely hotel with nice food. I could not stay long enough to give higher rating - maybe next time. Watch carefully to find the entrance though just off the main Ballina - Foxford Rd as you come to the edge of Ballina heading north.
V. M.A lovely place but the best part of it is the spa. Had a full body massage and an Indian head massage and enjoyed it immensely. Sabrina was a fantastic therapist. Brilliant service, great atmosphere and a class treatment. Highly recommend.

L. S.Situated outside Ballina, the Great National Hotels, shining feature has to be their leisure facilities. A beautiful airy room houses its twenty meter pool, which is the same depth throughout, 1.3 metres deep.
There is a kiddies paddling pool, beside the main pool, which is cordoned off on two sides, preventing access to the larger pool.
A Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna are all available pool side, and offer a comfortable space to heat the bones in a tranquil atmosphere.
Inside the changing areas, which are key coded entry, there are lockers, hair dryers, showers and two regular toilets and one disable access toilet.
In general the place is spotless, given the comings and goings of folks.
If something is lacking, the personnel are keen to know and act immediately to put right.
Fresh towels available for a fee, but free if you are staying in the hotel.
Overall lovely facilities, with helpful staff.
G. E.We stayed here with our two year old son and it was ideal. He loves swimming so were in the pool every day. Staff very friendly, breakfast buffet was superb and room was big and kept very clean.
R. C.Staff efficient and friendly. Room clean and warm. Had a noisy neighbour opposite. Heard loud music and chat when in corridor. This disappeared in our room so well sound proofed. The bathroom facilties were clean. The TV let me down as the channel had a buzz background noise. All other channels were good. The breakfast was probably the best demonstration of bambaree food. When fresh food was added the old remains were removed, not mixed in.. Nice touch.. Would definitely stay again

L. L. -. U.Was recommended to stay at the Grand National Hotel in Ballina as I was visiting a client a stones throw away so the location was ideal.
The hotel offers good value for money and McShane's Bar & Bistro offered a pleasant atmosphere with friendly members of staff.
The food was fantastic and cooked to order.
The room however was basic and the decor a little tired for almost 2018 but for the money, I can't really complain too much.
Will be staying again in the future.
s. h.Comfy beds, great food in lovely mayo. The wedding coordinator was amazing, could not do enough, for us and the wedding was fantastic. We had a ball. Only little niggle was the key cards for the door were very bad and had to be changed all the time.

L.Had a pampering package deal with afternoon tea and a spa treatment, over night stay, It was just lovely, the spa treatment was just excellent, I had a lovely girl called Lucy, she was so professional, the facial was fab, but the icing on the cake was the fantastic massage she gave with it, it was just so good, she really knew what to do, ive never had anything like it, so I would definitely ask for her if I went again ! The afternoon tea was nice, staff very helpfull and friendly, a young man in a suit was working in the bar/ restaurant was very attentive, very good at his job, lovely waitresses at breakfast. A lovely young girl on reception desk, I think they were training her, she was so good.
G. G.We stayed with friends at the hotel 2 nights. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the place was clean. We also ate in the bar and the food was delicious. Just after 7am on our first morning the cleaner decided to bring her trolley outside our door making plenty of noise to wake everyone. At 7.55am she knocked and walked into our room wanting to clean it. She did the same to our friends in the opposite room.My son and husband were still asleep and I asked her to leave. Again at 8.45am she had the cheek to do the exact same again. This time she woke my son. I was and still am raging with anger. On our way to breakfast my husband grabbed 6 UHT milk from her cart and placed them in our room for tea after our swim after breakfast. We came back to the room to find it cleaned except for the cups thrown into the sink in the bathroom not washed and she had taken 2 UHT milk back off us. I paid good hard earned money for 3 of us to stay in the room for 2 nights and all she gave us was 4 UHT milks both nights. I made a complaint at reception but I feel so angry about her behaviour I feel I needed to put it in writing.
p. c.Grate food. staff are lovely to us a grate place for to get a dinner. I recommended to anyone that's a 100 miles of ballina to have lunch in this hotel you will not be disappointed

J. O.I have been working in Ballina between two and three days per week for the past couple of months and the Ballina Manor has become my hotel of choice in the town. Good value, very clean and good facilities. It's one downside is that it is approx 1km from the town but as I travel by car that isn't an issue for me.

B. G.Stay elsewhere. The staff seem to have a 'am just doing my job" attitude. We didn't book breakfast and had to pay extra this morning. My other half was sitting eating his breakfast and 2 different waitresses asked him if he wanted to pay now for breakfast or at check-out, even though reception said we could pay at checkout. We just paid.
This hotel, to us is like a hotel which is about to close. Standards have dropped dramatically. Cobwebs hanging for light in en suite, worse was the filthy, ring stained cups - after housekeeping had been, the pool is dirty and tired looking.
We'll never return.

P. S.The Hotel Ballina is situated just off the N26, outside of Ballina town. The rooms are clean and well appointed, the food and facilities are good. However those guests at the back of the hotel will have to suffer the noise of air conditioners from the attached leisure centre. The hotel also suffered a severe lack of towels during our stay.

M.Stayed here from Wednesday to Friday could not fault anything about this hotel form the minute myself and my husband arrived the reception staff were so friendly and polite the room was spotless and next morning the breakfast was fantastic everything you could possibly want and more all well cooked and presented and when I asked if it would be possible to get a bowl of porridge it arrived 5mins later freshly made and pipeing hot the tea,coffee and biscuits in your room was a nice touch as you could make urself a cup of tea or coffee overall this hotel deserves a 5 star review would highly recommend it to any one wanting a lovely relaxing time oh I nearly 4got the spa and pool are fantastic.

M.In need of modernisation,according to itinerary we should have been in a deluxe room,but far from it.Carpet was badly stained,no fridge in the room,old style shower curtain around the bath/shower,room looked straight out into the car Park of the hotel,wallpaper ect just tired and needing sorted out.On the plus side the food in the restaurant was very good,piping hot and plenty of it,breakfast was also top rate.Big up for the staff who were very good at their jobs

Fabulous function room which was kept lovely and warm through lunch (some older ladies with us so this was important) and provided us with a great dance floor to burn off some of the calories afterwards.
