A. H.We had our wedding here and it was fabulous. The wedding coordinator, Dee, went above and beyond to help us and make it the most special and memorable day for us. The attention to detail was 5 star. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious. On the day Seamus and all the staff were extremely attentive and helpful. The food was excellent all our guests agreed and highly recommend this venue. The gardens are well maintained and were perfect for photos. There are no faults to this hotel.
J. T.We had such a lovely time at the County Arms Hotel for my friend's birthday. First, we had a lovely gluten-free afternoon tea beside the Christmas tree and we cannot thank enough the lady on duty with blonde hair and black glasses ( sorry I forgot to ask you name!) she brought a cake with candles and just made it so special for my friend and myself as my birthday was days ago. The quality of the food is unreal, very tasty and enjoyable. The reception team was lovely as well, checked in to a double room and we've asked for twin and we moved to a twin room straight away. The room was spacious, quiet, and clean. We've booked the offer with the dinner, we had pork belly with veggies and a lovely gravy, we couldn't have enough! The next morning we had breakfast which was great and the leisure centre was nice just to finish up the stay. Lovely hotel, lovely value and hopefully we will be back soon! Thank you! M. G.I really enjoyed our time at the County Arms. We had our son's Christening dinner here and it was a very relaxed and delicious meal. The kids enjoyed playing in the hotel's majestic walled garden. We stayed the night and had a very comfortable sleep. Breakfast and the pool the next day were also excellent. Gráinne, Shannon and the event staff were very easy and professional to work with.
M. C.We really enjoyed our stay at the fabulous hotel. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. The rooms spotless. Beds were comfortable. We had a twin room with double bed and single bed. The bathroom was enormous and well kitted out with supplies. Would find it hard to fault.
l. c.Great hotel, great value. Staff were friendly. Food was delicious. The signage of the hotel could be better. As when we got there, we parked and there was parking spaces for driving test applicant. No great big sign at the front door of the hotel. This was the only flaw be we found.
S. S.Wow .. we had a family celebration at the hotel today, from start to finish it was just amazing . We were given a private room upstairs with private bar and a beautiful menu.
The staff were on top of their game at every stage and we were really well looked after . 10 out of 10 to the chief the food was full of flavour and presentation was unreal.

M. F.My son and his now beautiful wife had their wedding reception there last Friday 17th September. I could not fault one thing about it. From the moment we arrived until we left the following day they could not have done more us. We were looked after so well at the reception and the food was absolutely beautiful. I would definitely recommend the Count Arms in Birr to anyone. And I will most definitely be going back there again soon.

A. W.Booked 1 night away and I have to say it was a bit disappointing. They are short staffed and the staff are just not trained well. Not a manager in site. Drinks delayed, ignored by staff when we tried to get their attention. Brought to a table that had something spilt on the floor. Was still there when we left despite the fact I let the waitress know. The receptionist didn't know if we had to make a dinner reservation, neither did the restaurant! First you did, then you didn't. The chowder was light soup and nothing like a chowder. No, hand sanitizers on the tables.
On the plus side, rooms were OK and beds were so comfy. The food we had at dinner was lovely.
Get it together. You have a great little hotel if you paid attention to hospitality and customer service. For me, its no where near a 4 star.

P.Service in bar was very poor despite there seemed to be a huge amount of staff on plus a manager... waited 45 mins for a cocktail was told staff were being trained on making new drinks... i would presume they should be trained in advance,it was taken off the bill but would have just liked any drink to be honest rather than sit for 45 mins.Breakfast was lovely and breakfast staff were great compared to the evening staff who unfortunatly seemed very untrained

M. W.What a find! We decided to extend our stay in the Midlands and stumbled upon the County Arms Hotel, your website doesn't do it justice. From entering the beautiful foyer to leaving this hotel has everything one could want for a break. Food was superb, staff are friendly and helpful. The room was very clean bright and airy. Leisure center is spotless and the gardens are an absolute must see. We will definitely be back. Kevin & Marion McGuire.

Food is sublime. Everything we got was perfect. Steak, Turkey & ham, prawn starter, duck spring rolls … all cooked perfectly and with great attention paid to presentation and flavour.
The staff are awesome. A young team but they are excellent. Friendly and attentive.
Breakfast was excellent. Due to work commitments I was on the early 7:30 breakfast but even though it was early the staff were ready to help and the food at breakfast was great also …. Tip: try the pancakes (really fluffy and tasty)
Rooms are so so comfy. I had the best sleep all year. Quiet too.
I’m returning again in 5 days … it’s that good.

T. M.5 star accommodation.From checkin to checkout not a single problem. Shannon was a tonic when taking booking over phone a really pleasant young lady.
All staff were excellent from reception to bar to breakfast where Regina was the captain of that ship and never stopped going and nothing was to much to ask for a real professional in customer satisfaction.

D. M.Lovely hotel all was good until dinner. Mine was okay my partner dinner was cold. Turkey and ham came out like it had been left out. A 4star hotel shouldn't have to take a main meal back to microwave it. Poor service

A. O. L.We had a lovely time on a family holiday, the facilities were amazing and staff were wonderful. I would however review your policy now to have house keeping attend the rooms for those staying more than one night. We were booked for 3 nights with 2 children under 5. We had 2 rooms and a cot provided, however the rooms weren't cleaned, bins not emptied, bathroom towels or toiletries not replenished nor was the tea and coffee. With small children and nappies and stickey had and food etc the rooms required a top and tailing. We had to request this each day and although done immediately, the girl was not too pleased about doing it. Everything else was above and beyond but definitely recommend it to everyone and I ll be back asap

The leisure facilities were more then satisfactory. The only complaint I would have is that the kids mattresses weren't as comfortable as they could be.

Well what can I say! from start to finish the staff were amazing they just made us feel we were among friends.
The Food was outstanding the Quality and Quantity was second to none.
Our Wedding Experience was great from our first consultation with Michelle & Connor right through to the Day and beyond was so easy.
The atmosphere / Ambience was just perfect.
We would recommend this venue to anyone and will definitely be back even if it is just to enjoy the food again.

S. G.We had a great experience at the County Arms. It was very charming and comfortable with great amenities. We got there early after traveling all night and they were able to get us into a room they had available. They gave good advice with the sights in the town and where to eat. We had a great conversation with the owners and even got to see the Earl of Birr castle. Make sure to get down to the leisure center and have a chat with Dillon who takes care of the pool and workout center. All around fantastic. Enjoy your stay!
K. L.It's a very nice 4 star hotel in Birr. The bar is a popular drinking spot. The food portions are generous and you can easily share the plate with someone. We had a lovely tea in the lobby. The service was excellent! The decor is very posh too. Whether it was the waitstaff, front desk or someone else, they were friendly and helpful. My only complaint is the walls are thin and the shower not the best. They do have a lovely tub for soaking baths. Beds were comfy. They have conference rooms too. Also, they host parties in the Holidays too. We both enjoyed our stay here and would definitely come back.

A. M.We had dinner today at the County Arms. We ate outside. The service was poor- table not cleaned when we sat down, waitress didn't offer drinks, food was bland and mostly lukewarm or cold. We asked for gravy on the side but it was poured all over the very dry beef. However, a big improvement with the menu clearly labled with gf options and other allergens.

The whole room was empty when we went in and another 8 people came in after us and were all put seated on top of us. Then we were ignored and couldn't get anyones attention.

E. C.Stayed for three nights with the family, the staff were very friendly and helpful, they were also fantastic with the kids. We were there in a tough time for the Hotel as they were just hearing about another lockdown but none of that impacted the service.
Some of the best food I've had in a long time in a hotel, both from the bar and the restaurant, not your usual captive audience food that you can end up with in a hotel, there was a lot of effort put into anything that came out of the kitchen.
As for the location Birr Castle is a great place to spend a day and Lough Boora is just down the road and highly recommended.
E. A.Friendly staff and clean room. Would've given a four star if cooling system was provided in the rooms (especially for hot season such as the present one) and if there were no noise disturbance from other rooms and from people walking through the hallway leading to rooms.

C. E.Lovely boutique hotel, the staff at reception were the highlight, always willing to help and were great craic. The Spa and pool facilities were clean and good quality. I felt the only let down was the afternoon tea, we had booked for 12, but it was only set up at 12.20, and we had to rush as we had a booking at 1, the eclairs were frozen, felt it wasn't worth the money for frozen not fresh dessert.

My group started loading side plates with the cooked food as no dinner plates were available until 10 minutes after opening. Not good, and did spoil things a bit

V. H.Attended a wedding here on 9/11/18. Fantastic service by the hotel. Bar food on the night before the wedding was lovely. Room was clean and well equipped. Little problem with tv remote was sorted in record time much to the delight of our little girl. The attention to detail shown by management and staff at to ensure the wedding went very well was amazing. I could go on and on but it is enough to say that the hotel did a great job .

J. M.A really comfortable hotel and the food is excellent. Could do with updating their television sets in the bedrooms and revamping the showers and shower curtains in the en suites. On the whole there's not much to complain about. The rooms were spacious and there was a good daily housekeeping service. The staff were lovely particularly in the dining room. Nothing was too much trouble and with me being a fussy eater they were very accommodating. I would go there again.

C. K.The hotel is very nice asthetically. Some of the reviews saying it needs renovating are little OTT. Maybe some rooms are getting a bit dated now. Food is very nice (chowder) and some dishes are average. Nice dark rooms and comfy beds. Would recommend.
D. M.Nice staff. Hotel needs an injection of paint and someone to walk around ensuring litter etc is picked up. It is the little things and a slipper lying on a stair for over 48 hours signalled to me that staff arent overly keen to impress.
j. c.What a great hotel! I really enjoyed the week I spent at the County Arms while in Birr on an equestrian vacation. The staff was very professional and kind. They were so nice and accommodating! Most impressive was the food, it was delicious! I have a dietary restriction and alerted the hotel early to see if they would accommodate and they were glad to. The chef made amazing things for me and I was so grateful. The room was fine. They only thing I wished for was a stronger wifi connection but it wasn't the end of the world after I got used to not having it.

J. H.We can honestly say that we have never stayed in a hotel that pays so much attention to customer service. We arrived on 24 Jan this year with our children for 2 nights to celebrate their 9th birthday. We were greeted at reception by a very friendly and professional girl and then by the Owner Willie, who was very welcoming to us and our children. Our room was beautiful . Lots of space for 4 , tasteful décor and very very clean. We ate at the bar on our first night and again were treated to the fabulous hospitality of the bar staff and Willie himself. We swam in the pool twice on Saturday. It too was really clean and very well equipped. We went out visiting the area on Sat afternoon - Birr Castle and Gardens is well worth a visit. Saturday evening we ate in the restaurant . The food was very nice. Later that evening our children received a beautiful selection of chocolates each for their birthday. We will definitely be visiting again and have spread the word to our friends and family. Its wonderful to see that customer service is alive and well in the County Arms Hotel, not something that you can depend on everywhere you go, but it really makes the difference. We felt valued. Thank you to everyone in the County Arms hotel for making our stay so wonderful especially when you also had a debs ball on Friday night and a Wedding on Saturday - you were never 'too bust' to give us the best service and smile. !
