Reviews of Slievenamon
Great walk, incredible views of Tipperary and Kilkenny. Weather can be very unpredictable at higher levels so bring appropriate clothing. Trail starting from near Kilcash can take from 1 to 2.5 hours depending on your fitness levels.
Free parking in the village or at the side of the road (across from the farmers yard theres a sign for selievenamon where I usually park)This is a handy hike but extremely steep hike aprox hour & 20 mins up and hour down depends on your fitness level.well worn path all the way up, keep right once you summit to reach the trig and mound of stones. Very enjoyable beautiful views 360 on a clear day ..hiking boots a must !
No markings
Great walking area, some trails and the pilgrims path. Parking scarce, but one can park in the local village.
Nice walk. Lovely view.
This is a fairly short but challenging hike as it's a pretty steep climb. Experienced hikers could climb it in 50mins or so. For those of us who get out of breath climbing it might take a little longer
It's a very straightforward climb and can be done with runners but I would always recommend walking shoes or boots. It just makes for a more comfortable hike on mountain terrain.
Watch out for the weather. It can change the higher you go and can become windy and wet due to cloud cover even on what appears to be a lovely day. Always pack wet gear and water.
If you decide to do this walk, don't give up, take your time and savour the scenery. It's well worth it to get to the top of Slievenamon for the stunning views. And it's in the Premier county! Enjoy 😊
Really enjoyable walk. Need a decent level of fitness to enjoy it. If you are used to walking and have strong boots and a stick of some sort, you'll be up this mountain in an hour. Come down in 30 mins. Some shelter at top so possible to have a picnic up there if so inclined. Beautiful views al around.
Good 30-40 min walk up to the top.Great views ,little bit windy.highly recomend
A beautiful climb on a nice day and not overly taxing, my 5, 6 and 8 year old boys made it to the top along with my 79 year old father.
Fairly decent hike to the top. Terrain isn't too rough. Can get fairly windy and watch for the weather but amazing views of the countryside
Havent climbed but the veiw from the river is amazing cant wait to climb will be so nice
Great outdoors spot scenic location great walking opportunities no real facilities around &car parking spaces ARE at a premium during busy /popular Times!
Fantastic views from the top.
Very good for hiking!
A fantastic hike with beautiful views throughout. Allow yourself 2hrs up and 1 hrs down to have plenty of time to enjoy the views and grab pics. Make sure to look up the folklore around this beautiful mountain also, especially how a particular bride was chosen by the king of Ireland! Ask Google! 😁
Wonderful experience, good site for hiking
Strenuous hike but worth it. Haven't regularly climbed in a long time so wasn't sure if I would make it to summit. Took 2 hours to climb to summit with few stops to take a break. Great views all the way.
The most beautiful scenery in the world the most magnificent slivenamon
