Fantastic burger place. I've had the double cheese with home fries and a pint of Chieftain's. The monthly specials are great with loads of other options to choose from

This place is decent, you get a filling meal for a decent price.. but it doesn't quite make the 5 stars, While the burgers are tasty, I have tasted nicer elsewhere in the city, the presentation is great but you just get that feeling that there is a bit too much time spent on the preparation and thus time spent on taste is sacrificed. You will also need to wait a little longer for the burger.. The chips were a nice side but the balance of spice was unequal. Overall I did enjoy by meal and will definitely be recomeending it to people but there is still some room for improvement.

I had a huge expectation on this place. Heard a lot of positive reviews about this place and really needed to go once. It's very difficult to get a table here, personally I went there few times but couldn't find a table, so decided to go on a Monday evening still didn't get a table for 6 and sat outside on a cold evening. Though the heaters kept us warm would have loved to sit inside. About the food it's worth trying. Had the chicken waffle burger, the bun was very very good. It was something which I have never tried, different and good one.

Really tasty food, probably one of the best burgers I've had! Quality was great at a really decent price. Staff were great, my only criticism is I felt a bit rushed to leave so they could get the next people in (there was a big queue growing outside). As soon as I finished, my plates were taken and my bill was given - not sure if it was efficient service or a bit of a nudge out the door. Fortunately I was ready to go so I didn't ruin my view of them.

OMG! This place has to be visited if you want comfort food! We shared this giant chicken and waffle burger, delicious fries covered in melted cheese and bacon bits and mac n cheese with bacon bits too. Oh, and real milkshakes. We were stuffed! We could hardly stand upright walking out. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our bill came to €38 for the two of us but we had a full day's food in one meal so we were happy with that. Definitely going back again.

We went there on a rainy Sunday afternoon and was blown away how good the burgers are!! We were so looked after by the staff. Our girls were kept busy with the free drawing paper and crayons. I ordered the SOB burger which was huge and so tasty, my wife ordered "The One" which was equal to the taste and size as mine. We also tried the Oreo milkshake which rounded off the meal. I highly recommend you try it if you haven't already! Will be going back!

Went in, the server took great care of us. Suggested a better beer than I ordered which was lovely. The monthly special burger (Welsh Rarebit I believe) was lovely. Went here tonight after the panto and have to say it was excellent. Started with getting a table for 5 and the server said we had to wait outside which was understandable and they had heaters, got our table and my daughter dropped her glass and it was no problem cleared up quick and reassured there was no issue. Food was perfect everything hot and fresh. Had 3 kids with us and didn't feel we had to keep them quiet and still very relaxed and calm atmosphere but have to say what makes going out for food ( beside the food ) was the staff have to say every single member of staff we spoke to was fun polite and friendly. Great experience will 100% recommend and return.

My first time being in SOB, my partner has been raving about how nice it was so the first chance we got to visit after lock down we did. First off the layout of the outdoor seating was very tidy , staff were exteremly polite and helpful. Food could not be faulted in anyway. Impressive presentation and the flavour was amazing. My 3 year old cleared his kids meal and he loved the fresh fruit and icecream dessert . The churros with Nutella are to die for. Overall really happy with the meal and experience, was well worth the drive from Tipp. Will 100% be back again.

Like what that has been said earlier about this restaurant, they did serve burgers with abundant quality and portion, which makes perfect sense to see a whole lot of patrons even before dinner hours. The decoration is contemporary with a bar section available as well. The coleslaw salad I got was equally amazing as well, crunchy vegetables paired with mild dressing that goes so well together. The mac and cheese was slightly bland for my personal liking, nonetheless it's definitely worth more than what you spent

Stayed in a hostel down the road and was advised to eat here. We weren't going to but luckily for us our original choice of restaurant was shut.. we ordered a chicken burger and the special "chipper" burger and both agreed that they were the best burgers we had ever eaten. There are other options such as chicken burger with blue cheese sauce, something different for a try. This one is interesting if you like blue cheese. Myself and my pals, one pouring wet January night (of all times of the year!) decided to have a reunion dinner, and we were not disappointed. Beautiful burgers, big varieties of chips, refreshing minerals and beer, delicious desserts and cool, funky retro art work with hugely helpful staff ensured that the reunion dinner went down a dream! It is a place I will certainly have to return to again sometime in the very near future after I finish this post! And at good prices too: highly recommended for anyone who plans an adventure in the Southern Capital!!

My family group (5 adults and 4 children) went to Son of a bun on a busy Friday evening, we were seated immediately and served a short while later. The staff and service were fantastic as was the food, I would highly recommend this restaurant 👍

We stopped here for lunch on our first day in Cork and were honestly blown away. We arrived just after 12 on a Friday so it had just opened and we were shown to a table right away. Within 15 minutes or so there were only a couple of tables left so you can see how popular this place is, and for good reason. I've never had a burger as good as the one I had here and the cheesy fries aren't your usual ones where there is only cheese on top, the cheese on these is right down to the bottom as well. I had the burger with crispy peppers on and I'm still thinking about it now. The Cobb salad was also really good and all the components were of great quality. We had two mains and two sides between the two of us and it was plenty. The staff were really friendly and we had a great time. If we come back to Cork, we will be coming back here!

Very good burgers. I was in cork for luch, because the tour i went with (paddywagon) stopped there. The restaurant was near the main bridge, like a 3 minutes walk. There was a really nice vive in there and it wasn't very crowded. I asked for a burger ( i don't remember the name ) and some cheese fries and they were fantastic. Also the staff was really nice and kind. I would go there again.

I was impressed about how fast the staff was to get us a table, take our order and serve us, really efficient and friendly. The price of the hamburgers may vary but they go from 8 to 11€ (really worthy), and there's also different dessert options available. The beer selection is no so big, but overall is fine. Totally recommended.

I always look for an excuse to visit Son of a Bun when I'm in Cork City. This is a food joint which specialises in burgers and shakes. They also have a full alcohol bar which means you can get a great range of draught beers and also cocktails made for you. Any time I've ever been here it's been very very busy so I would recommend to make a booking in advance if possible to secure a table. The food itself is extremely nice and very well cooked with nice options but also niche to that burger style of food. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is in Cork and really in the mood for some good burgers and has a modern bar like feel. This would also be a great venue for any companies looking to have a fun work dinner and get some great food with some drinks.

Son of a bun is a huge hit on the Victorian side of the city on Mc Curtain st. Wide selection of burgers on the menu with a special burger every month. Monday to Friday there's a meal deal from 12 until 4 with free fries with any burger purchased. Smashing burgers, scrumptious sides, damn good milk shakes and of coarse there is a main bar within the restaurant. Craft beer and cider on flow. For such a busy establishment there a great atmosphere with quick service. Great team within sun of a bun and service has always been a pleasure with a smile. Normally a 15 minute wait, giving you time to enjoy your surroundings. Not the cheapest when it come to getting your burgers and sides but it's more than enough when it all comes down to it. The chicken wings are the bomb aswell. Crispy goodness, fully packed with a slightly spicy kick sauce. Toilets are down stairs so it's not wheelchair friendly.

Fantastic food, menu is mainly burgers of course but they do them well. The burger of the month is well worth a try, it's a unique burger that changes every month. The staff are nice and the atmosphere is relaxed. The music is good and the food is reasonably priced with big portion sizes. The only downside is the very small bar that only has 4 beers on tap and a few bottled craft beers and cocktails.

If you're a burger person then this is the place for you, they also have a bar while you wait and the food is very reasonably priced. Fantastic place for a burger, I made it my business to try it out when down in Cork for the weekend. Definitely one of the best burgers I’ve had in Ireland. Up there with the very best. I ordered the S.O.B burger and it was delicious. The quality and flavor of the beef complemented the crispy fried onions and the unique S.O.B sauce perfectly. The cheese fries were a little heavy but I could see why others would enjoy it. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Overall fantastic experience and would love to go again if ever visiting.

Son of a Bun has the best burger in Cork! I came here for the first time this week and arrived around 6pm with my wife and son. There was about a 10 minute wait but it was worth it. The food was all fresh and very flavorful. The staff was friendly and everything we ate was great.

Amazing service. Went on Valentine's day and hot there at the perfect time. We were seated almost straight away, their table turnover was very efficient and people who did have to wait weren't waiting long. The food is amazing. I had the veggie burger and it was so good. Really lovely experience here over the weekend. We were a group of 7 and were seated straight away which was great. The waitress who brought us to the table ran through the menu explaining anything and also gave some reccomendations which we listened to. I cannot fault the front of house staff they were all just so lovely and accommodating despite the business of the place. Anything we asked for we had at our table in tip top speed. The burgers were fantastic and there were so many to choose from. Fries also excellent as were array of dips one of the girls brought down to our table. 7 people all getting burgers multiple sides with pints minerals and coffees came to about 130 which we thought was fantastic. Highly recommend.

They have really different burgers to the norm, with monthly themed specials and a good static menu too (prepare to get messy as they usually juicy.) This is certainly the best place where to eat a testy and juicy burger. The ambiance is lively and the music is upbeat. The burger stays fresh longer so you can eat it more slowly than in other burger restaurants. A special praise for the home-cut chips and the rosemary seasoning: they are just delicious! And remember, you can have a chilled pint of Red Rebel, the Franciscan Well beer. I was there yesterday evening and I got everything: the great Son of a Bun burger, the home-cut chips, the beer and the ambiance: a great package, if you add that I was with my family... I really wanted to like this place, so I kept coming back hoping for a better experience. Don't get me wrong, the burger is grand. It isn't the best burger in the city, but it's grand. The mac and cheese is delicious, basically, the food is great! It's just that the restaurant is so noisy. Now obviously, it's busy all the time, so of course noise is to be expected. However, when the restaurant is packed full of people, why on earth would the music be played at full blast?! I have eaten here on four or five different occasions at different times of day/evening and haven't been able to hear the waiters or the person I'm eating with. It's a shame, because it really does take away from the yummy food...

Great food. Simple menu with choice of starters and choice of burgers for mains (the clue is in the name). While simple the variations of flavours offer enough to keep most satisfied. Speaking of satisfied, wings and a burger & chips and you'll nearly have to be rolled out the door. Portions are decent sized and the burgers are stacked. Brioche buns are delicious. Decent drink range including some local micro brewery offerings, Franciscan Well ales are perfect with a burger, but it's not a bar so don't expect 20 different whiskeys and 20 different gins etc. Casual and noisy and great atmosphere and the staff always seem eager to help without ever over doing it and asking how you are every 5 minutes. It may not be to everybodys taste but if you are looking for a quick tasty bite after work or before a night out /show you can't go wrong. On busier Friday and Saturday evenings be prepared to wait 5 to 10 minutes for a table as there are no reservations.

Delicious imaginative burgers and great sides served in an industrial style diner, by super happy staff. Free chips with any burger ordered Monday to Friday (12-4) for a tenner makes for a filling lunch too. The Dirty Chicken with hot sauce and blue cheese is amazing. Plenty of hot sauce and chilli for the spicy food lovers, but most are available stripped back and plain for those with sensitive taste buds. They also do salads if you can make it past the burgers on the menu.
