We have had better meals here than our most recent visit. We got some kids meals for adults, veg forgotten. The lamb shank had a grainy texture gravy that felt like it was heated up badly in a microwave.

We came in at 15:30 for a very late lunch and were warmly welcomed. The beer battered cod was exceptional. The restaurant was super clean and the staff very motivated and extremely professional. Highly recommended for a bite to eat.

We had food here twice and it was amazing. The staff were helpful and friendly. We had to wait for someone to take our orders half an hour, and then over an hour for food but it was worth the wait. I would only go again if I had plenty of time and wasn't starving to death

My family and my in-laws stayed overnight here for my daughters 12th birthday and my brother in-laws 50th birthday. We stayed on the 4th flour in the diamond suite and it was excellent. My inlaws were at 2nd floor and they are having fun. Bar and food are great. Definitely will stay here again.

We had a meal here, and twas grand. we got an awful dose of chicke, which i suppose is nothing to be complaining about. twas a bit expensive though, for what twas like.

The bedroom was fantastic and the bed was so comfortable and big had a great night sleep. One of the very best I have slept in for a long time. The meal was a different story. I ordered Battereed fish and chips along with onion rings. The fish arrived but no sign of the onion rings. I asked the young waitress where were the onions and this plate arrived with about 5 rings. They were so hard you would need a Kango hammer to break them up. I think that they were cooked a few time. I told the wee waitress and she took them back. I carried on with eating the fish and chips. I was about 7/8 finished and the rings arrived back and I told the girl I did not want them as I was just finished. She took them back, the next thing the manageress arrived and tried to get me to take them and was not the best when I said NO I did not want them. Lovely hotel, staff were very attentive ( not the manageress) housekeeping were excellent. The room was spotless. The manageress would need to improve her people skills.

Very nice restaurant. I stopped here for food, very nice space with good view of Killybegs. The staff were friendly and helpful. Social distancing measures in force with contactless payments and hand sanitation available. I had the Vegetable soup and also the Turkey and Ham dinner. If you like soup blended then this soup is great. I liked the Turkey and Ham dinner, very tasty. Reasonable price aswell.

Great location as a base for sightseeing stunning Donegal. Our room was clean and comfortable. The food was so good we didn't even try anywhere else during our 4 day stay. Great value for money and lovely atmosphere even considering the covid restrictions to which the hotel staff implemented and handled amazingly well. We felt very safe at all times. Breakfast was excellent too, all fresh local produce. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. We also made use of the gym which has everything you need to keep to your fitness plan. If I was to suggest one thing it would be that the rooms could be modernised a bit, they felt a bit dated compared to similar hotels we've stayed in but very sufficient nonetheless. Overall we would highly recommend the Tara Hotel for value for money, great central coastal location and top class hearty cuisine. Well done to all the staff!

Tara Hotel is a fabulous Hotel to stay in. It is listed as 3star but the staff and service makes it 5 star. They were brilliant , and while obeying all the guidelines for Covit, they still managed to make our group of 11, so welcome, always a smile, top food and the Breakfast was beautiful, with cheerful staff. It is also a great town to visit, with Sliabh League there for everyone. A good base to explore the coast and other towns. This was my second trip to the Tara Hotel, and it won't be my last. Thank You Tara Hotel for making our trip so Special for Our Brother's Birthday. Thank you all staff, you are Brilliant. Grainne Hegarty

Stayed here and also had dinner in the restaurant. Hotel: room was very clean, view right over the harbour and the hotel is right in the centre of town. Very good value for a well equipped room. Some rooms were being painted on the floor below so good to see they're staying on top of things. Good selection for breakfast and done well even if it's nothing to write home about Restaurant: Having being disappointed that the boathouse and seafood shack were both closed I wasn't expecting too much, it was really excellent however. Squid to start was perfectly cooked, the scampi for main (proper monkfish tails) was the same along with delicious crispy chips. Lovely bottle of local beer to boot. Given what I paid for a room and breakfast, the good staff and location, definitely will be back if I'm nearby

We have stayed at the Tara possibly 4-5 times now and feel the rooms are very warn and ready for an overall. The restaurant is good but we felt the ambience was not the same. Staff didn't seem as friendly. Having said that, we found the receptionist very nice and helpful. Just not as good as previous visits. The food was OK but nothing special.

Nice location with a nice view of the harbour however there two staff members that are so rude and treat people like garbage it's not welcoming. I've been served by some nice young staff lovely and friendly but those other two just ruin it

Always a lovely experience. Consistently excellent customer service in a solid 3 star hotel, the Tara sits in the centre of Killybegs, a town on the route of the Wild Atlantic Way. It's an excellent base to discover all of Co. Donegal's coastline. Tara's bar has an excellent view of the harbour full of fishing trawlers and busy at all times of the day and night. The hotel's rooms are all quiet and reasonably priced for the area and quality. The food is of excellent quality, appropriately so considering the cordon bleu catering college is less than a mile away across the town. A particular highlight is the full Irish breakfast, so definitely prepare yourself to be full before you set off for a long day exploring the coast.

I have stayed here quite a few times now and love it. Staff are always friendly and food is always very good. The seafood chowder is beautiful. Killybegs isn't the obvious place to stay in Donegal with a fishing harbour directly facing the Tara but there is something special about this place. I love the harbour and Fintra beach is beautiful. This has to be my happy place and love getting down to stay.
