Nothing special at all. Perhaps it was an off day. Fish was dry and the batter was burnt. The chips were neither here nor there. The mushy peas were watery. Another diner spoke to us and complained about his two pieces of fish saying he'd often seen bigger fish fingers! And it's quite pricey too. I hate to write a negative review, but customers need to know. As I've already stated, perhaps this was on off day. Lots of room for improvement.

All I can say is the Monte Carlo has been voted the best chip shop in Ireland. And yes... it is the best chip shop takeaway I have ever had. Fresh fish brought in daily. Chips made the old fashion way and the salad burger is unbelievable. Burgers are proper burgers. If in monaghan you have to check it out.

Always fresh and tasty food. Sometimes a wee bit of a wait if it's busy but worth it. Seating upstairs with is nice and kept clean. Also does lovely coffee.
