A. B.This beautifully situated hotel is just a stone throw away from Westport town.
Our stay here was magical. We stayed in the deluxe master suite. We were completely blown away by the size of the room. It had a huge dining area sitting room kitchen underground heating, jacuzzi like bath tub and not to forget a enormous kind sized bed. Needless to say we slept like babies.
The staff were very welcoming and warm as we arrived and throughout our stay.
The next day we went down to breakfast and were a little disappointed as we asked for red sauce and they gave us hard (dry acrylic paint) like sauce twice which was a little off putting when eating.
Other than that I would highly recommend staying at this hotel as it is great for every aspect hiking, romantic getaway, with friends it really ticks all the boxes.
C. M. M.Absolutely brilliant 3 night stay while attending a wedding. Every member of staff we dealt with throughout our stay were brilliant and couldn’t do enough to help. Receptionist was very friendly at check in and advised of all the hotels facilities and timings of meals etc. Restaurant and bar staff again very friendly and welcoming, the quality of food and drink very good. Rooms extremely clean, great size and beds very comfortable.

Food in the restaurant and bar was fabulous great menu to choose from. Staff very friendly. Hand sanitisation throughout the hotel and all precautions taken into account. The hotel is surprisingly spacious, walking to our rooms I was impressed with the width of the hallways, then amazed at the size of the room. Huge bed, a couch, two big arm chairs, massive TV and still enough room for a jive! Bathroom was excellent, very big, jacuzzi bath, shower, and his and hers sinks. Negative on the room, just a little too warm, shower very hot, couldn't stand it for more than a min. So had the bath which in all fairness was amazing. We had food in the bar the first night. Food was very good, presentation on the plate a bit dull but you would get over that. Drinks were quality, great Guinness. Bar staff very professional. We also all had breakfast both mornings of our stay and this is where the hotel drops a star. First morning we sat at 10:30 it was quite, the room and view is beautiful and an absolutely stunning setting but the breakfast took away from us fully enjoying the view, The Irish breakfast was terrible. Asked for extra black pudding when we seen they had Kellys and we got it but unfortunately it was overcooked like everything else on the plate. Asked was it cooked fresh and was told it was. If this was true then the breakfast chef needs more training because thats not how you serve a fry. Everthingwas dry so I suspect it was cooked and left out on hot plates. Probably the worst fry I ever had. Pankcakes were the same. Much better on the Sunday but rashers were still overdone. Very plain presentation again. Lacking a few bits on the plate, definitely need a potato portion, a potato farl or fried potatoes. Beans and fried onions would be a great addition to bring it up to the level of a standard Irish breakfast. We were all (6) extremely disappointed with what we were served. Would recommend management sample a few breakfasts from other hotels and restaurants, bring the breakfast chef with them and get it right because it was a major flaw on what was a brilliant stay. I am of the opinion that 2 of the 3 best black puddings are made close to Westport the other from Cork, so Id also think that Kellys probably wouldn't want one of their signature products being served in the manner it was on the Saturday. Much better on the Sunday but would still question how it was cooked. Its one of the beat food products in the country and I feel it should be presented and consumed in a manner that leaves you wanting more and wanting to find out where the pudding came from. I think every hotel and business in hospitality sector has the responsibility to highlight the best of Ireland and unfortunately Knockranny has failed here with the breakfast. We did mention it and have to say the staff member we were chatting too was very open to taking a bit of constructive criticism. Hope this helps the hotel. Id still return because of the rooms, setting and staff. Was also the first time I went for a spa day, my partner finaly convinced me to go. Our group all went and it was one of the most relaxing experiences of my life. Fab facilities and brilliant therapist, we had Carrie, I may have fallen asleep during the back and head massage! Thanks

Bathroom a bit dated, shower was terrible.
Would have expected a coffee machine with pods, nescafe 'mild' coffee sachets and Barry's tea bags don't scream luxury.
Dinner was lovely and breakfast was average, staff were friendly and helpful

Fabulous suite beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean. Beautiful pool area and facilities again exceptionally clean. Amazing staff throughout the hotel very friendly, efficient and professional with a special mention to Rachel and Lisa at Reception who made us feel so welcome and so helpful. We can highly recommend this hotel. Well done all of you can't wait for a return visit.

m.We booked to have our wedding at the Knockranny in April 2021 and every step of way they could not have been more helpful, accommodating and professional. We deeply appreciated how incredibly organised and supportive they were. It was clear that the hotel is exceptionally well managed and would be a very beautiful wedding venue.
Unfortunately, due to the pandemic we were forced to reschedule. We were given our choice of alternative date in September 2021.
I then became pregnant which made the September date impossible and it would have been very difficult to schedule an alternative date. We informed the knockranny that with great regret we would need to cancel our wedding. We were astounded when they offered to refund our deposit in full.
We were incredibly touched and grateful for this act of generosity. I could not recommend this hotel highly enough to any engaged couple.

Covid regulations aheard too
I. F.Well worth the stay, after a crazy year so far couldn't have felt more safe. We stayed in the tower suite on the top floor although the weather was dull we could still see the port and Croagh Patrick. The room was fabulous and the little tower section was beautiful when we got room service on the second night. Overall very enjoyable, was worried about the noise from the room with the entrance and carpark below but not a sound could we hear. Well worth a visit.

S. W.There for a wedding. Really big bedrooms rooms. Viewed some of my mates rooms too which were even bigger. Great size bathrooms too. All staff were very friendly. Takes awhile to get your bearings as there are many, many corridors and floors - I found the stairs much easier and quicker to find my way. Food at the reception was very good, and certainly plentiful. Bar staff very efficient and friendly. Had a fantastic breakfast the next morning. The views from the dining/breakfast room are terrific. Only complaint is that our room needed some TLC, a lick of paint and removing stains on carpet would go a long way. However that said would definitely recommend for a stay or a nice romantic dinner in their restaurant.
K. O.Stayed for one night which was plenty. The check-in staff member was professional and helpful. We were told we had an upgrade if we did I would not like to see the classic double. The room was tired and needs updating. The room was not at all like the photos on the website. It was my first time staying in the hotel. I would not book it again. The bar food was nice and the view is lovely looking out onto Clew Bay. Overall the hotel lacks style and the cozy atmosphere of a good hotel.

D. M.Have only good things to say about this place. I had heard mixed reviews and reports about it before I stayed there but everything was great. Clean room, good power shower, helpful, friendly and accommodating staff from breakfast to dinner to residents bar with a great selection of drinks on tap, bottle and shelf. Food was excellent at every meal and the restaurant is bright and spacious. The mountain biews really top it all off! Would definitely consider a stay here again if I'm ever in this part of the country.

L. H.I was in this hotel during the day for something to eat. The decor confused me. Although both the reception area and the restaurant both had lovely decor, the reception area had a traditional period style which seemed in keeping with the style of the hotel but the restaurant was decorated in a very modern style. Perhaps they plan to update the whole hotel. The dining area is gorgeous but I think keeping with the period style of hotel would be nicer. However, the views were absolutely gorgeous! The food was really tasty, reasonably priced and the staff were polite and attentive. Judging on what I've seen of the hotel, I imagine the rooms are luxurious and very comfortable.
K. G.Lovely grand hotel reminiscent of days gone by. We stayed in the Tower suite, which was spacious and luxurious. Perfectly situated with beautiful views of Croagh Patrick and Clew Bay, but only a stroll away from town.
The food was lovely, make sure to treat yourself to afternoon tea for two, it's fabulous. The pool was nice and relaxing too. I would visit again.

A stunning town and a fabulous hotel to stay and relax in.
We booked a deal with a 3 course meal and breakfast and we were not disappointed with the quality or quantity of food. It was well presented and very tasty.
The room was clean and very spacious, views from the room were great but the dinning/breakfast lounge had a spectacular view taking in the coast from a distant..
Negative point: Spent a good five minutes choosing dessert, only to be told they did not have any left....this was not a one off error by the waiter, two ladies behind us choose the same dessert after us and of course were told they didn't have any.
If you don't have an item on your menu, TELL your customer at the point of presenting the menu, do not wait until they have chosen the item your out of.
M. E.Overall, good hotel. It gets the job. Beautiful scenery with Croagh Patrick in the background. The lobby was pretty and very nice staff, but the room itself is average. My biggest complaint: I could barely charge my phone because none of the outlets worked. I brought my converter with, but none of them would work when plugged in. Nonetheless, very good hotel. I would stay here again.

I did enjoy the bar area which I had beer and wine as well as appetizers and a full meal and everything was perfect. The spa was one of my favorite spots to relax which included a pool, sauna, steam room, and scented aroma room. Everyone was friendly and accommodating.
A. S.Ok hotel a bit tired and in need of a refresh, bed was very comfortable had a great sleep. Check in was very late 4pm if you want to enjoy the hotel you don't get alot of time. Had house keeping knocking on the door at 10.15am to see if we were gone. Check out is 12pm !! Not very relaxing for two new parents trying to relax. Nice friendly staff.
R. L.What a fabulous hotel. Our room was huge including a sitting area with lots of windows to view the lovely country side. There was a 4 poster raised bed which was elegant and the room was beautifully appointed.
We attended a wedding reception for about 160 guests. The food was served the way it should be, piping hot including soup and main course. Not an easy feat for that many dinners. The servers were attentive with serving seconds and came around frequently to refill our wine glasses.
The room included a breakfast which was a combination of served and buffet. The buffet was for cold food, cereals, fruit, juices, etc and the hot food was served. An interesting combination and all very good.
Highly recommend Knockranny House.

A.This is specifically for the Spa Salveo dept as I've never stayed in the hotel. The spa is really nice, comfortable and nicely decorated. Love coming here back all the time. Children are not allowed which is a massive bonus from the start. Will be back.
M. H.Very nice hotel with award winning restaurant, and great cocktails, the margaritas are top notch. It also has a nice spa, and grounds that over look the town of Westport and it's only a short stroll into town. Westport is one of Irelands top tourist destinations with lively pubs and good restaurants and shops.
If you like the outdoors then you will find your self in one of the finest pristine environments in Europe everything is on offer here for people who like to wear boots and Wellington boots, if you like angling then Clew bay is the place to be.

Afternoon tea very nice in the lounge upstairs - beautiful view, great staff but felt lounge could be made more comfortable and welcoming. C. M.This is a first class hotel with a first class restaurant. I’m still not sure why I was charged a “supplement” for ordering steak, but it was delicious. Westport itself is a charming small town on a coast that resembles the Norwegian fjords. It was a harrowing drive to get here (Ireland, please widen your roads!), but wonderful once we entered the peace and serenity of this hotel!

G. B.4 star views of the Reek in this hotel, but overall my experience in this hotel was disappointing. It was quite pricey to stay here and in my opinion it was not worth the money. I stayed with my 4 year old son and the pool is for only for over 18's, but they do give you complimentary vouchers for a pool which is a short drive away. The front desk staff are very nice and friendly and they gave my son an Easter Egg on arrival. After we checked into our room we left to go for dinner in Westport town and when we came back we discovered that our door had not locked and was in fact broken which was kind of scary as we had left all of our valuables inside. The duty manager came down to look at it and offered to move us to a different room, but we had unpacked all of our stuff so getting all that together would have been a pain. We got breakfast the next morning which was not great. We got there early enough around 09:20, got seated and then placed our order. Unfortunately it took about 45 minutes to arrive and we had to flag our concerns to the manager when about 40 minutes had passed. The fact that it came out 5 minutes after we mentioned it makes me think we were forgotten about which didn't feel nice. The room was nice and clean, and the bed was PHENOMENAL. We got a lovely nights sleep, so thank you for that.
M. P.Staff were vey courteous and helpful without being overpowering. Food in the restaurant was first class with extreme attention to detail. The room was spotlessly clean and the only reason I gave five stars was for a poor nights sleep. Our room was beside the lift which was within a screened off lobby. The doors to the lobby had door closers that would make the doors bang. Only an adjustment problem. In our bathroom, the diverter tap on the bath didn't work so you could only fill the bath using the shower attachment and not the bath tap. The shower hoses to the bath and shower cubicle needed changing and the silicone sealant was a bit grubby. These were the only flaws I could see in an otherwise beautiful suite.

m. c.Booked for 2 night stay on the winter break deal. We booked a Grand Deluxe room as a treat but room really didn't live up to the description and was very Spartan looking.
Tv was ancient and let out a loud buzzing sound randomly which was worrisome.
Decor and upholstery in room was very tired and could do with updating. I will say bed was large and comfortable and room was spotlessly clean.
Staff in hotel and spa were excellent and we enjoyed the food in the bar and restaurant at breakfast.
Again the changing rooms could do with some maintenance. A temperature dial in a shower both the mens and ladie's changing area were broken as well a door in the men's being loose.
Charge for hat for swimming pool which wouldn't be an issue but I didn't find this out until I was poolside. As I was asked at reception if I was using the pool it should really be mentioned then and I would have had no problem paying.
Left feeling a bit underwhelmed and issues I described would be easily fixed but I would be reluctant to pay high season rates for what is on offer currently.

K. K.Our stay at Knockranny house hotel was faultless. Our room was immaculate. The restaurant food was of excellent quality and the staff throughout the hotel were pleasant attentive and genuinely interested in ensuring we enjoyed our stay. As a family with young children we did worry about not having access to the pool but it was only a short spin to another local hotel for a dip in the pool. In fact it was a great way for one of us to pop into the shops in Westport while we ticked the box of getting a swim for the kiddies. I would highly recommend choosing Knockranny the next time you go to Westport.
M. M. (.The Knockranny House Hotel is located just a short walk from the beautiful town of Westport and right beside The Great Western Greenway. It is an ideal venue for touring the surrounding areas of Connemara on one side and out to Achill Island on the other. The area is a haven for walking, hiking and cycling, all of which can be organised from the hotel.
The staff here are very efficient and helpful throughout the complex. Service in the restaurant and bar is excellent and conducted in an extremely professional manner. Food choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner is varied and excellent. The quality of the food is fantastic and always well presented.
The pool area is well maintained and very clean. The pool itself is small but lovely with pressure jets within and fountain overhead.
We've been visiting The Knockranny for twelve years now and will continue to do so in the future
G. O.Knockranny had a bar on site that served great food and didn't require reservations. The breakfast in the mornings were some of the best I have had. The rooms were nice, a little dated (techwise) but the ensuite restroom was full featured (jet tub, separate shower, bidet, toilet, two piece vanity). If business returns me to Westport, this will be where I stay!

w. h.This is a modern well-presented hotel with an old world feel. The staff are extremely helpful and attentive. However the food leaves a lot to be desired. My wife and I had dinner on Fri night, starters were ok we both had fish for mains plaice for my wife and hake for me. Plaice was fine but the hake was dry as though it had been precooked/reheated or kept hot until serving. breakfast was very disappointing, bacon, sausage and pudding were hard and dry (not crispy) as though they were kept under high heat for some time, eggs and mushrooms were fine. over all our experience was disappointing, we expected more for the price(€540 for weekend with 1 dinner in a courtyard room)? Also the supplements for for breakfast leaves a lot to be desired e.g., smoked salmon & scrambled egg €2? Pancakes with mixed berries & honey €4? fish of the day €4? omelettes €2? poached eggs and avocado €2? Espresso, Cappuccino. Americano, Doppio and Cafe Latte had supplements between €2.40 and €3.00. also continental breakfast didn't include meats or cheeses only cereals and pastries.
J. O.An exquisite hotel for a very relaxing break. I am far too young to be here but this is where I would choose to lose my faculties and be waited on by some of the kindest and most comfortable waiting staff I have ever encountered.
The rooms are a spectacular, the pool and spa facilities genuinely lavish and the bar and restaurant glorious. To be able to have dinner included from La Fougere restaurant in your hotel package is really something else. Views of the Reek are put in second place by an ever changing menu that attempts to bring fine dining to Irish raw materials. Bbq'd smoked salmon and venison shot that day all cooked to order.
When the money is right, I'll spend it here.

Their bedrooms, and indeed, the associated en suite bathrooms are spacious, very comfortable, and meticulously clean. The spa facilities, the gym & the 'pool faciliries are wonderful too !

B. M.My wife and I stayed for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. Its a great place to base yourself in Mayo. The town is a 10min stroll with a few places to eat and couple of great great pubs to have the craic.
On your days, take yourself off on a drive as the surroundings of Mayo are spectacular. Highly recommended Croagh Patrick, South/North Atlantic way and a trip to Achill.
After your day exploring hit their wonderful Spa area to unwind. Must say their staff are very friendly and the room we stayed in was elegant. We ate twice in their restaurant and their food was excellent both times. We highly recommended Knockranny for a few nights.

T. m.We have just returned from a four night stay over Easter.We have stayed in just about every hotel in the west and can honestly say the friendliness of the helpful local staff, bicycle hire, log and turf fires mark this one out.They even left in a beautiful box of handmade chocolates on Easter Sunday morning.The dining room has stunning views over Croagh Patrick which was snowcapped for our stay.The food standard and value for money is incomparable at this level.The breakfast is cooked to order and not tepid like those awful buffets.
Our only minor gripe was that we would have liked more variety in the fresh fruit salad at breakfast and similarly with the vegetables at dinner .. they were the same everyday.However the Sami Spa experience and candlelit pool were TDF...( to die for )...the best massage combo we've ever experienced and we've tried them all .

m. w.This hotel is tired and showing it's age not worthy of 4 star rating. Some staff are down right rude and others are delightful but at these prices there is no room for any bad staff. When I stayed there the corridors were very cold and upon inspection the radiators in the corridors were turned off. The food in the restaurant was very disappointing and simple things like ice bucket for the wine was not available so we ended up drinking white wine at room temperature.
There are a lot more hotels in this area to spend your money on such as the Westport plaza.
