a. o.Stopped for food en route to Achill. The menu is really varied with a good selection of daily specials. We shared some appetizers. Chicken Caesar salad, hot wings and spring rolls. The service was really good and we didn’t have to wait long to be seated or served. The food was good but the spring rolls were on the greasy side.
B. R.Dropped by on our road trip to grab dinner. It was very busy when we went but the staff were very nice. Had to wait an hour for the food as we ordered for takeaway but the food was worth the wait. We ordered the lamb chops and smoke salmon pasta. The food was really tasty with lots of flavour. Not bland at all. The portion size was big but we were hungry. Would recommend eating here if you are driving by.

We ordered the Oven Baked Salmon with white wine sauce which was accompanied with two portions of mash potatoes, swede mash, cauliflower and broccoli cheese - brilliant food and an excellent portion. My partner ordered the mussels which were brilliant and again a massive portion with soda bread. The prices are really fair and the pints were excellent too.
We returned for lunch the next day on route to Westport. We both had the seafood chowder starter and shared some excellent chips.
I would highly highly recommended Nevin’s and actually wish we had accommodation there so we could have enjoyed the bar for longer after dinner!

The greenway is right by the inn too so it was perfect. We really enjoyed our stay🌟💫

J. S.Nevin's is a true gem of a pub and restaurant where I've had many a great meal. John is a true gentleman who has a welcome for everyone whether he knows them personally or not. He truly values people and the business they give him. Food here is simply amazing, always delicious and great portions and restaurant has a great atmosphere. Outside dining areas are done so well giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy tasty food or even just a great pint in comfort and safely.

R. M.Stopped here for lunch a few weeks back and had a really lovely meal. There's loads of parking out front which is really handy. We had no booking but were only waiting a few minutes for our table. The staff were great, the manager checked in on tables which was nice to see.
We had a hiccup with our food being brought out, but the issue was quickly resolved and we were offered dessert on the house which was a really appreciated.

T. M. G.We visited Mayo recently and a friend recommended I try this place for dinner with my family. We loved it, it has a beautiful sheltered outdoor area to the back which you can book in advance. We ate in total comfort and were warm and relaxed which in covid times of outdoor dining is a challenge at best in the West of Ireland. The staff were lovely and attentive. The service was fast and the food was gorgeous. My kids loved the pizzas and desserts and the adults loved the fish , turkey and ham. We had such a great time we went back again 2 nights later. Brilliant value for money and a really lovely atmosphere. I would highly recommend Nevins.
N. S.This is a really good place to go as a family. It has great service and friendly staff. There is wifi and restrooms. The place was very clean and just nice overall. The food was delicious. The one thing that you have to make sure you book ahead or else you could be waiting 30-40min. But the place is a must go. It even has my name 🤣

Tables needed a bit more of a wipe down between customers.
The fish and chips was good. A few more chips would have been better. But how can someone serve shop-bought onion rings? These should be banned. It is so easy to serve homemade.
L. M.It was very busy. We had to wait quite a long time to even get a menu but staff were friendly. Food was nice. After we ate it had quietened down a bit so we were allowed to move out the front to have a drink and the dogs were allowed to sit with us. So that was very nice.

Everyone is so friendly and helpful. This is the perfect place to base yourself if you are exploring the green way. Bikes can be arranged to be delivered to the front door! That's a real bonus. This place ticks all the boxes.

l.Cannot recommend this place enough. It was a perfect. We stayed for 4 nights.The staff were all amazing and very accomodating. The household team are fantastic at what they do and like most places people stay in they forget to give them a mention and let them know they are really appreciated. John Nevin himself is a character, very welcoming and casually greets all the guests at breakfast time making sure he makes time to have a little chat. The food was out of this world, from a beautiful breakfast and a really hearty and satisfying dinner. Aileen on reception went out of her way to get in touch with me and help with the booking as there was a mix up on the site i originally booked from. Very affordable and worth every penny. Will definitely be back.

p. f.Dined here twice in one week,should have done more often.Highly recommend Me Nevin's no complaints from a party of 6.I had seafood chowder on both occasions and perfect everytime.Had the steak and was done medium rare which seems to be difficult in a lot of restaurants in Ireland but no here. Will be back as soon as we get to Mayo again.

We visited on a stormy, blizzard of a summer’s night and were seated in a covered beer garden area. We were very comfortable and dry with a heater overhead. The owner came to say hello on arrival and switched on the heater, on our arrival.

D. L.For me it was my first time to experience indoor dining since restrictions were lifted. Our Covid certs were carefully checked upon arrival & our party of 4 were shown to our table. There is a very cosy atmosphere in the bar & restaurant & the menus were enticing with full a la carte & also specials of the day, a wide selection of dishes available & the waiting staff were able to recommend dishes & help with our choices. We watched the dishes appearing rapidly from the kitchen & the helpings appeared generous so we went straight to main course, i had monkfish & prawns in a white wine sauce with duchesse potatoes & it was a delicious treat, wonderfully flavoured & not needing extra salt or pepper. Also ordered were a roast turkey dinner & a lasagne. We read the dessert menu but regretfully declined. The staff were excellent throughout & social distancing was carefully maintained. The owner approached our table on more than one occasion to enquire that all was to our satisfaction. We emerged into the damp

Outside covered tables are first come first serve, rear area is for booking also covered. We booked also for following evening.!Really attentive staff and food is very good.

We had a really fine meal and very nice pints of Guinness. Food is excellent. But make sure you are hungry.... portions are big. Once again, it is definitely worth visiting Nevins..

e.Just back from a weekend at Nevins and it was perfect. This pub has won recommendations from several guides and it's easy to see why. Accommodation is split between the main Pub/Restaurant/B&B and a cottage the other side of the Church. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Food in the Restaurant is superb - a evening dinner for two, (Starter, Main, Dessert & Drinks) just tipped in at just over 100 euro. Nevins is located on the N59 Achill / Newport road and is ideally situated for those wanting to have a base to explore this part of the country. The great western greenway cycle route runs behind and the Ballycroy national park is close by as is Clew bay and several isolated beaches. The staff were excellent and cheerful. And my wife and I will certainly be back!

L. B.100% worth a visit if in area or passing through. We stopped here on the way to achill island for food on sunday was very busy but got seated quickly. Food was absolutely gorgeous. D. F.If there was a word that would describe a place better than excellent I would use it. We had my daughter's confirmation meal here as it is her favourite place the food was amazing the staff I can't praise them enough especially Tracy and Stacey they even made a little boys day by bringing him to get his ice cream because he ate all his dinner. They made all the kids feel special.
If you have a special event or even just want a nice meal go nevins it will be worth it.

J. G.I know the Nevins, I use to work there and this allows me a huge insight into the whole bar and restaurant. So while some might say I am baised, I would argue that I have even more information to give a rounded view.
Knowing and meeting a owner will often tell you a lot about the establishment. Nevins is a friendly, good service, hard working and great food place... that I can also say I have had the pleasure of working at.
The menu choices are massive, with roughly 20 items on the main menu and a further 20 on the specials that run everyday. And using inside knowledge I have seen the size of the kitchen that serves all this variety. You would not belive how small the kitchen and how it could cater to the number of tables Nevins can sit. That being said if you plan to eat on the weekends, it's advisable to get in early as it's gets busy fast.
Nevins has great service and friendly atmosphere. Something the owners encourage not by telling staff members but by showing them, to lead by example.
The food is always fantastic as Nevins pride themselves on making sure food is served at a high standard and being able to source the best quality available. And in the time it has opened its doors as a family resturant I have only seen the patronage grow.
I can go on, but will leave it short and say I highly recommend. Only to add on further point, a newspaper article Pub Spy reviews places in secret, and have reviewed Nevins twice. Both reviews glowing, which you can read as they are framed on the wall.
Nevins is big city standards in rural Ireland. This makes it such an oddity and such a special everyday treat to eat.

M. H.Nevins restaurant and bars is situated outside of malraney on the Newport road county mayo, and at the back of it is the Westport to achaill island green way. It is very popular with locals and visitors as it serves up great food, nothing too flashy mind but great quality, and they have gluten free as well. No shortage of parking. On the road to malraney you can also visit burishshule Abbey and further up the road is one of Grace O Malleys bolt holes she used when the Binghams (English overlords of Connaght) were trying to kill her for raiding their ships, after all she was a pirate. The *keep* is beautifully preserved and well worth a look.
*A keep is a large stone tower with no walled enclosure.

The owner will often take the time to approach each table to make sure the customers are happy. It is located very close to Mulranny with its own views of Clew Bay.
