J. T.Great staff.....but a bit of a pain having to show covid cert for every meal. Show once at check in maybe? Hard to control heat in the room also. Very clean. Within walking distance of city but that main road outside hotel is a deathtrap to cross.
J. T.We had a lovely stay, a quiet and clean hotel. It was my birthday stay and I've mentioned it on the booking but unfortunately, the girl on duty at the desk didn't mention it or any possible upgrade. The room was spacious and quiet, we had a good sleep and the breakfast in the morning was very tasty. Just a little suggestion, would be great to have some pastry available( even though I'm gluten-free) but just for others to have more options than Full Irish Breakfast, fruit, and cereals. Thanks, Hoban and we will see you again!
S. W.This place is highly recommend! I booked the Hoban hotel for 13 of us as a stag party and they were fantastic! We had to pay a 500 deposit but that's understandable. Service was brilliant at breakfast and friendly staff. Would definitely be going again.

The staff are so friendly and polite especially the young lad who served us the past 2 days he is a real asset to the hotel, he kept engaging with us throughout our meals to ensure we had everything we needed. He made much of every single customer even though he was busy. I will definitely be returning again in the future.

The breakfast was of good quality, served by another very friendly staff member (who even remembered one morning to another that I'm coeliac and offered gluten free toast).
E.I really enjoyed my stay at the Hoban. The rooms were modern and spacious. Lots of TV channels to choose from. Breakfast was delicious with a good selection. A few downsides the size of the bathroom is very small and the toilet was not cleaned completely in parts not immediately visible to the eye. When checking in, the receptionist asked us what time we would like breakfast and I said at the latest possible time as we wanted to lie in after a long week of work. So she booked us in for 10am. When we arrived down for breakfast at 10am they were cleaning up the breakfast and we were told that breakfast is over strictly at 10am. Thankfully, the chef was able to make breakfast for us in the kitchen which I appreciated. Another point is that you get a free drinks card per person per stay and you have to choose from a soft drink, wine or beer. This was a problem for myself and my boyfriend who wanted an alcoholic beverage but don't drink beer or wine. Overall really enjoyed my stay and I would stay again. Reasonable rates and good value for money. It is only a 3 star so things aren't going to be perfect.

Stayed there in October 2021 for a business trip. Room was big and very clean at all times. Quiet location and amazing restaurant food was amazing and excellent value for money. The restaurant staff was so profesional (gentleman from Portugal) was so so profesional and very helpful.
Reception staff was very friendly.
I usually travel to different locations and stay in many hotels but this hotel was my best place to stay for long time.

K.The keys to our room didn’t work so anytime we wanted to go into the room we had to go to reception and get them to re-program the keys, which still didn’t work, the “double bed” was just two single beds pushed together. The bed itself was like sleeping on the floor. The “free drink” you get when you check in is only good for a half a pint or a glass of wine or a soft drink. The food in the restaurant is overpriced and not great, I ordered chicken wings which were €7/8 and was served exactly 5 chicken wings, even in Dublin you wouldn’t be served 5 lousy chicken wings on a plate for €7. The hotel and atmosphere is just very depressing overall.

N. M.The hotel is in a lovely place about 3 k walk from Kilkenny City but we discovered a lovely 5 k river walk close to the hotel which was beautiful and brings you out at Kilkenny Castle.
From check in to leaving all the staff were lovely.
The room was nice and clean and the bed was very comfortable.
Breakfast was lovely and you could order scrambled or poached eggs or fresh porridge. My only complaint was the seafood chowder. We had booked the two course dinner which was super value and ordered the seafood chowder for starter. The soup was like a bowl of hot milk with some fish and mussels in it, very tasteless and we had to add a lot of salt and pepper and it still tasted of nothing, in fairness the main made up for it which was delicious brisket of beef on a bed of mash with lovely crunchy veg. We did mention to the waitress that the soup was poor but she just nodded. She seemed very disinterested really and even when we tried to order another drink we were left waiting for twenty minutes to get her attention. That was our only complaint during our stay everything else was really nice and I would highly recommend staying here.

D. B.We really enjoyed our recent stay. Staff more mature than you usually find in hotels with is great as it gives you a better sense of comfort as they are constantly sanitizing. Only suggestion I could make is to put stickers on the floor for customers at breakfast tables while ordering as they were standing too close to one another when staff didnt keep them at part. (Staff shouldn't have to) waiter staff did a great job they worked so hard to look after everyone well done. Dinner was lovely too. Didnt get our free drink but that's so minor as we felt safe. Room was lovely . Bed massive which I purposely booked. All white too.
Hotel in shopping area outside the city on a ring road. This was great as you didnt have to go through the city when you were out for the day. Loved it

n. b.Spent a night here on two separate occasions and was great stay. It was cheap price for each night with breakfast and the food was excellent. I do recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a night or few away in kilkenny.

C. O. G.Overall experience was good. I’d expected with a four star hotel, that the quality of the bedrooms would have been to a much higher standard, but it was very basic and the bathroom was tiny. However, it was extremely clean and the staff were very attentive, which was a plus. The downside of the hotel was, we had stayed for the breakfast and three course dinner option. However, we hadn’t known that there’s a special menu for the three course deal, which didn’t include anything we had hoped for when we checked out the menu online. The only other downfall was the cost of a pint of cider being €7. Bit mad in my eyes, but other than that, the hotel was sparkling clean. Would deffo come back, but only for one night.

Shower wasn't great. Good temperature, but no water shower, just a strong dribble. Enough to get a shower, not worth ringing reception over.
Went down to the bar and bar staff were great. Told room number once and remembered all evening. Hophouse was fine.
The food was good - burger and chips.

M. J.The hotel is modern and rooms are spacious. Breakfast was lovely - hot and cold options. Not really walking distance to centre (around a 30 min walk near main roads or 10 min taxi). Our hotel room was also pretty noisy as the hotel is based on a main road in a retail park and the window didn't seem to close tightly which made things worse. Also no ATM in the hotel and we never received our complimentary drink on arrival, not really a big deal but would've been nice. The staff however were lovely and it was easy enough to nab a taxi. If you're driving, it's great for the price!
O. G.The very minute you walk in there was a relaxing atmosphere, which is exactly what we were looking for, met with a lovely restaurant, bar and reception all together. The staff were so friendly and all seem very happy to be there, which makes me think it's also a lovely place to work. We had a set menu which was delicious along with a couple glasses of wine,as you do. Buffet breakfast next morning was really lovely, plenty to choose from. The window in our room wasn't locking properly which was the only fault, not realising this till early next morning with the wind from storm Denis, but I wanted to leave early because of the storm so didn't get to enjoy the late check out, otherwise I'm sure they would have fixed the window if I'd asked. I stayed in room 209. Will I stay again? Of course I will, and have already spoke very highly of the hotel and more especially the staff. Thank you.

Rooms and toilets were spotless. It's a bit far from town, but once we got there and had a few pints at the bar, we didn't leave.

The Covid restrictions make it very difficult all round but there's very little the hotel can do about this of course. I would stay here again if I was visiting Kilkenny.

The staff are fabulous they can't do enough for you and they are up against a difficult task with the way things are at the moment.
The only negative is the a lá cárt menu doesn't change so its the same choice every night and if you're vegetarian the only option that I saw was a vegetable curry 🥘

P. F.We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights recently and it is in a good location. It is a 10 minute taxi/car drive to the centre of the city, where there is a large selection of bars and restaurants. The hotel also has its own bar, which has a good selection of beers and a nice atmosphere. They also do food up to 9:00 PM and we dined there on one of the evenings. The food we had, pizzas, was excellent and hot & tasty.
The rooms have all the amenities you would expect such as a tv, kettle and hair dryer. Breakfast was included, there was plenty to choose from and it was hot & fresh. All in all it was a really good hotel.

c. f.This is a lovely hotel on the ring road in Kilkenny within easy access of every place in Kilkenny. The rooms are lovely and spacious and have all the ammenities that one would need. I had dinner in the resturant and it was a fabulous meal with great service and very prompt. The breakfast in the morning was a buffet style, had every thing you would require was very hot and excellent.

We had a room with two double beds which were situated about 4 inches from each other. It was an odd setup, especially when the room was pretty spacious.

J. F.This place was great for our trip. Affordable. Good breakfast. Clean rooms. Stand out for me was that the staff went above and beyond to try to check me and my friend in early after a long flight and drive.
Only downside for me was the beds were a bit small (at 6' I just fit lengthwise). Otherwise, a decent place.

The good and bad points were amongst other things...
THE BAD = Breakfast was not the best quality but you could eat as much as you wanted. TV was bad quality as well, not sure if it was the service or the actual TV unit that was the problem, unwatchable on occasions. (I was told the satellite dish was damaged due to strong winds).
THE GOOD = The lady in reception (Lithuanian) was fantastic at all levels, a true asset for the company, they should give her a pay rise!! Shower was clean and warm, the room was quiet and bed was clean. Staff that works in the breakfast area were helpful and alert.

D. C.We stayed here for a night during our travels through Ireland. The hotel lobby and staff are welcoming, and the breakfast isn’t bad. The rooms, however, need a little attention. Our shower had broken plumbing, the faucet leaked, and the beds were surprisingly small. I think the Aspect is very similar in feel to a newer Holiday Inn in the US. Overall, it’s definitely a three star hotel with five star service.

I was greeted with a smile and I was in my room in under 5 mineuts. I would recommend The Hoban for any who may be a light sleeper as it is in an shopping estate and nice and quiet at night. It's only about 15 minutes off the M9. As I have been here 3 times on business I will be back again. Another plus is that there is ample parking space around it. There is also a KFC and Costa Coffee close buy.

It could get pretty stuffy and the large window did not have a screen - leaving it open overnight for air circulation was an invitation for some bugs to move in with us. Might want to bring a small fan if you’re used to air conditioning or moving air in general.
Good continental breakfast but would have gone elsewhere if it had not been included. Dinner was great even though they don’t make cocktails. Bulmer Cider was a solid substitute.
Room was clean. Bed wasn’t uncomfortable. Wi-Fi held up and service was good.

A. P. P. a. A.Myself and my wife enjoyed a four day stay in the Aspect hotel and here is my review of our stay. Can I say straight off I do not like to give a bad review because its far too easy to find fault with any accommodation but at the same time I have to be honest. The room is large, modern and well equipped. There was no music any night over the weekend in the bar which is very small too, so we either went up town or to the Springfield Court hotel just at the back of the Aspect hotel. We never ate food anywhere in the hotel. All the staff were friendly.
On the Saturday night a argument broke out in the room opposite our own. It lasted for the best part of two hours. This was despite two staff members talking to the parties involved but it became so bad I went out and spoke to them myself. My wife was afraid to sleep and was on edge all night. Next morning the same thing took place at 10.30 in the morning. I spoke to the manager on the Monday and made a formal complaint. I have stayed in many hotels around the country and I have never experienced anything like this from other guests. Lets just leave it there for now.
There is a large mirror fitted in the wardrobe and it was cracked in both bottom corners. it was not dangerous but unsightly. Also the bath after having a shower made strange noised while the water drained down the plug hole. On the Sunday a staff member knocked on our door at 9.30am and asked us if we required our room to be serviced, we said we did. We told her we would vacate the room in one half hour and would be out for most of the morning. We did leave and after arriving back at 14.45 the room still had not be done. I rang reception and a staff member arrived to do the room at 15.30. We were in the room as she serviced the room. She never hoovered the floor, or made the bed, instead she cleaned the bathroom and changed the rubbish bin. So there you have our experience and I'm letting you judge it for yourself. Would I stay there again only if I had too. Enjoy
H. H.This is very much a 2.5 star hotel. I gave it 3 because the customer service is wonderful. Every request I had they accommodated and the main gentleman at the front desk was so helpful with great recommendations and a map he drew on with tips on where to go.
The breakfast buffet was good with plenty of selection. Both hot fresh food was available along with their normal dry stuff. Juice and milk were also plentiful.
Now on to the bad... The entire hotel except lobby and eating area smelled musty. Like all of the carpets had gotten wet and moldy.
The full size bed we had was actually two twin beds pushed together with only a sheet to cover and connect them. I could feel every spring in the mattresses and of course we could feel the mattresses ends in the middle of the bed. Hard to cuddle with your significant other ;)
Every so often (twice an hour?) The water heater/plumbing made a horrible loud noise. It never woke me up but it did wake up my husband.
We enjoyed our stay in kilkenny but mostly because we didn't spend much time at the hotel. Again, customer service was exceptional but the room was disappointing.
