B. G.This hotel is nice but lacking the wow factor. The staff were fantastic, very nice and friendly. The layout of the hotel could be better as you have to take 2 lifts and walk through a glass corridor to get from the bedrooms to the main part of the hotel. The location is excellent and the facilities are top class and free parking is a nice touch. Ask for a room above the 5th floor if you want a nice view as I had(see photo).

N. O. F.Firstly and most importantly; the staff & communication. I'll be staying in Athlone over the next few weeks for work so looking for somewhere for multiple 1 night stays. I e-mailed the hotel on Christmas Evening (not expecting a reply) and had a return phonecall approx. 1 hour later. A few minutes later, a lady by the name of Allison (whom I met on check-out at Reception) had everything sorted. I had a specific request (I wanted to pay for an upgraded room, but wanted a specific room). I had another few queries and again, Allison was back to me via e-mail almost instantly. Credit where it's due, thank you Allison for your efforts, you're an asset to the hotel. I only encountered 1 gentleman at the bar as we drank in the lobby but the service was friendly and efficient. Same goes for the staff at the leisure centre, 100% positive experience.
The hotel itself was great. It far exceeded our expectations for the price (granted we stayed mid-week in January). We paid for an upgraded room in the Tower and requested a high room. I'm not going to give the room number away as I want it to be available next time I return! (but ask for a tower room, high floor).
The room was clean and modern. One huge bonus is a fridge (which is rare in Irish hotels). We travel the world and fridges are the norm, but they're rare in Ireland. A cold bottle of water first thing in the morning sets you up for the day. Also some small nice touches like take-away cups in the room if you want to make a tea before you leave is nice.
The bathroom was large with both a bath and a large walk-in shower (If I had my way, all hotel rooms would be walk-in showers!).
I don't know if it was an accident but there was a bottle of sparking water in the room upon arrival. This saved the day, I was dehydrated upon arrival. I suspect it was a mistake as there was only 1 bottle for 2 guests, but a bottle of water is a nice touch upon arrival, even if the tap states it is suitable for drinking. Infact, this is the norm in most hotels (but not Irish hotels, for some reason).
The pool was a nice touch (again not common in Irish hotels) and the area / changing rooms were to a great standard. Due to COVID you have to pre-book but takes only a moment online so no issues there. Current limits are 45 minutes but better than nothing, all things considered.
I won't hesitate staying again when I return to Athlone.
Other reviews complained about 'getting lost'... it's a big hotel which is sort of split into 2 (what i'd consider main building and tower), joined by an interior walkway. I think this is actually a good thing as the rooms are well away from the lobby / bar / function room so no noise issues.
PS. We took the train which is approx. 4 minute walk. The underground car-park (right next to hotel entrance) is free for guests.

The next day we checked out and I stupidly left my jacket and charger behind. With one phone call they advised they had it and posted them out to me at no charge. I couldn't fault this hotel. We will be back and I promise not to leave anything behind me next time.

a. o.I booked this hotel for a surprise mini break with my children - mostly because it has a pool. Check in was smooth - payment was taken on arrival which is unusual. Our rooms were as the website photos. Unfortunately our heating failed but we were moved to a lovely room in ‘the tower’ and given a complimentary drink. Henrique who dealt with the situation could not have been more charming, professional and determined that our experience would not be in any way marred. A credit to the establishment! Girl at check in spoke so fast I could not hear a word she said. We had really wanted to use the spa but it was booked up. I had rung ahead and girl said she would ring me back but never did. D.I'm a wheelchair user and stayed in the Sheraton Athlone for 3 days midweek. The accessible rooms are excellent for wheelchair users,role in showers with seat. Knob on shower kept falling off and the desk chair in our room seemed to be broken so we didn't bother using it. Air conditioning seemed to do very little and it was quite warm unfortunately. Besides one or two mishaps (waiting around 15 minutes to order a pint and a waitress forgetting to give us cutlery which led to my food going a little cold) the staff were amazing, very friendly and chatty, food was good and the Guinness upstairs was one of the best pints I've had in athlone. Over all we still enjoyed our stay just too many small issues to give 4 or 5 stars

M. M.This was my first time in the Sheraton Athlone Hotel. My husband and I had lunch there. All the Covid regulations were adhered to.... our Covid certificate was asked for also a phone number.
Tables were socially distanced and I noticed the laminated lunch menus were wiped after every person had finished ordering.
This was our first indoor meal since February 2020 and I was very happy with every aspect of it.....Well done Sheraton Athlone, we will be back. 👏👏
E. M.Want to say a big thank you to the staff at the sheraton Hotel. For the first time, our parents decided to take a breakaway via train to athlone. After arriving at the Hotel my dad felt unwell, after a few attempts to contact a Dr and with no car the decision was made to call an ambulance. The hotel went above and beyond for my parents and looked after my mam when she was left in the hotel by herself for 3 nights. We want to say a massive thank you to Benjamin and all the staff, we are very very grateful for all you did for our parents. Remaining calm in these situations and knowing what is the best action is very important and that really helped my parents..we will most certainly give the Sheraton Athlone plenty of business in the future.

Unfortunately on our first day there was many mistakes in the main bar regarding drink orders and I got the wrong meal twice. The waitresses were very rude at times, but Anthony who I believe was a supervisor was amazing he made the first day a little more enjoyable .
The second day the service and staff were much nicer stephen and paul were lovely. We went up to the terrace bar as we were recommended by staff. The terrace bar is a credit to the hotel the staff Daniel, jurga and stephen again were amazing from giving us ideas for our stay to telling us all about the hotel and general care they were brilliant, and the Guinness in the terrace just class!
We would definitely consider coming back

G.A lovely central location, clean and good food. Rooms good size & comfortable but lack of any imagination in upstairs bar, very disappointing effort!! An expensive stay that would not encourage me to return with current restrictions & bar facilities...

l. p.Me and my boyfriend spent 3 nights in the hotel and i have to say the roof top bar staff Colin , Steven and Nathaniel were top class, From looking after us to giving us advise on what to do in Athlone. they were amazing.
only issue we had with our stay was the food service in the main bar , but it was busy so I wont hold a grudge.

T.The Sheraton Athlone holds fond memories for my family. We have been visiting the hotel for nine years and we find the staff and facilities great. My daughter has outgrown The Kids Club and us old enough to enjoy the Spa and it's array of treatments and Shopping Centre.
A.I can't fault the hotel at all everything was perfect from check in to checkout hotel was amazing and we had an amazing room on the 10th floor of the tower, staff are amazing especially Nathaniel who couldn't look after us any better he is a credit to your waiting staff

5 of us stayed for 2 nights. 2 different room. A bit of a issue with one room but was sorted. (Not getting type of room booked and paid for)
We booked in person with hotel themselves. We were not told about booking the pool/ fitness center when we made the booking. (We could not book it 36 hour before our stay on the site we found out about ourselves.) So only got to go to pool once in the 3 days. And when we did. Sauna and steam room were out of bounds. And jacuzzi wasn't working much. Pool itself was lovely.
We also had pre booked and paid for afternoon tea. We chattered for 15 min explaining type of sandwiches we would like. They took notes and said it was great that we gave them the information in advance. Then we didn't get anything we order. We asked again n again n again long delay n not great service or selection for afternoon tea.
We ate in the restaurant upstairs one evening and food was OK. Not amazing but ok. One person order curry and had to pay extra to put chicken into it. 16e for the sauce n 3e for the meat to go into it...(bit bloody irish I think)
We ate in lower bar next night again food was edible but not amazing by any means.
We also had a drink in Upper bar staff there very helpful n friendly.
Wouldn't return but over all it was OK.
