Reviews of Ringfinnan Garden of Remembrance
Very moving and beautiful. 343 fireman lost in 9/11.
Our guide took us to this gem of a memorial. Very unique garden, can't believe Kathleen Murphy took it upon herself to create this place in her homeland.
Great tribute to so many brave men and women. All by another great woman. Well done all
What a truly humbling experience. Our guide Chris showed this place to us when we had extra time after going to Blarney castle. It's one of those places that most tourists won't have the honor to go see, simply because it's not advertised.
So the short story of this memorial:
There's a woman who grew up in Kinsale but worked as a nurse in NYC for 20+ years. She was there when 9-11 happened and knew a lot of the firefighters that perished there, trying to save others. When she retired and moved back to Kinsale, she created this memorial garden and planted a tree for every firefighter that died during the rescue efforts.
As an American, it was truly touching to see another country honor our fallen firefighters. Again, truly humbling.
So moving, had me in tears .
Never knew about this place till i arrived in Kinsale and it was a lovely surprise to find out about it. A heart touching garden made by a person deeply affected by a tragic event. It shows that even thought people can be separated by miles we can still feel the need to reach out to one another in anyway they can.
Hauntingly peaceful.
This garden is a wonderful tribute to the hero’s of 9/11 . Very peaceful and respectful .
Fantastic tribute to 9/11 victim's
Lovely tribute to those you gave their life! Worth comming to if you know someone who lost their life in the fire service during 9/11.
Such a nice tribute to the firefighters that lost their lives on 911 in NY city
Beautiful. Would highly recommend visiting this garden if on holiday in Kinsale or even a local to the area.
A beautiful tribute to the American first/ emergency responders, and servicemen who passed away on 9/11. Thankful we had the time to stop here, take a moment to remember and pay our respects. It was touching to see something like this for our men and women in the US all the way over in Ireland. We don't see such clear signs of a caring world all that often, so to know that a family felt so strongly and personally desired to create this place for a tragedy in another country just shows an immense amount of hope for the future of our world. If we can empathize with one another in the painful moments, we can come to understand each other better in the ordinary. ♥️
You could easily miss the Remembrance Garden as it is understated and quietly sign posted.
It is dedicated to the 343 firefighters who lost their lives on 11-09-2001.
The 343 trees stand strong and the branches reach far into the air with Autumn hues on their leaves.
Kathleen Murphy who gave this land in memory of these brave men certainly captured the essence of the men who gave their lives for others.
It has a sense of melancholy and sadness but is also thought provoking at the wonderment of human nature.
This place is amazing, a memorial garden for the 343 Firemen and some police officers who sadly lost their lives in America during 9/11. A must if you're in southern Ireland, very near kinsale. I found it very emotional.
We were so surprised and touched by this unexpected Memorial. It is in a beautiful setting and it's peacefulness allows for personal reflection. Thank you for honoring those who were involved in this tragedy.
I found this garden to be a surprisingly touching tribute to the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11th. It’s a lovely garden with a tree for every firefighter, some of which also have trinkets left by family and friends.
Visited here on September 10th, 2016. As a US citizen, it was an incredibly touching experience. Entering the garden through the darkness under the trees and then entering the open and sunny center square was very moving. I highly recommend this experience for caring individuals of any nationality.
well worth visiting...........a memorable place
A peaceful little spot. Tranquil and an escape from hussle and bussle.
Really worth a visit. Set in a lovely garden there is a tree planted for every fire fighter that died in the Sep11 disaster in New York.
