Reviews of Bantry House

The house its self is beautiful and full of charm. Each room you enter has lots of old furniture and portraits of all the families who lived here over the years. The house and gardens need a lot of love and repairs. Garden to the front was beautiful but the gardens to the back are overgrown in places. Nice little coffee shop serving sandwiches, scones, cakes etc.

The museum is pretty interesting with well-preserved beautiful interiors and household items. The park is beautiful, perhaps not ideally kept, but the abundance of prohibitive signs everywhere that it's private property and that picnics are not allowed have unwelcoming vibe. After all you charging for the entry, could be a bit nicer.

My favourite place to visit when I am in Bantry, the gardens are incredible. If you visit West Cork you have to go to Bantry house, I love the cafe, they always have delicious cakes and lunch options. The family who own it are really great and the views are the best you'll find in the area.

Very beautiful atmosphere in here, the gardens are so well kept it, very interesting as well, checking the room in the house with the antics! They have a cafe and a small shop, and if you want you can spend a night there too!!
When in Bantry it's a must to go and check it out!!!

Very nice gardens! We had a great walk there with some friends and dogs are welcome! If you like to take nice long walks, this is the place for you.

Lovely house and gardens owned by one family since built - lots of interesting things in the house so well worth a visit. Challenging to maintain I'm sure but loads of character around every corner.
N. D.
As others have commented, the exterior of the House and much of the gardens currently need a lot of work to refurbish them. The fountain is currently closed off for no reason, and there are far too many signs stating 'no food can be eaten on site except the House cafe supplied picnic boxes'. The 100 steps in the garden lead to no reward except the view. Didn't visit inside of house as dogs not allowed.

My favorite place to stay in Ireland! Beautiful and unique, with plenty to explore on the grounds. If you stay the night, you get to relax in the ball room in the evening. Run by a brother-sister team who are nice and friendly. I travel around the world and rarely make reviews, but this place is exceptional. I already stayed twice and will stay again when I return to Ireland. I'm at a five star hotel now, I wish the services were as good as Bantry House.

Beautiful House and Gardens. The quality of the interior of the house was astonishing. The gardens were stunning and the views were lovely.

A must see for anyone visiting Ireland. A reminder that the English of the Empire era went out to "make the world England". Also a B&B and wedding venue. I will take my family back to stay. Extra cool that the family of the Earl of Bantry still lives there.
M. L.
Lovely gardens, the house has a few areas closed so you don't get the full experience. Needs some tlc but great to explore.

If you have the possibility to stay overnight, you'll be in for a real treat. Not only breakfast is of superb quality but the real highlight of our stay was spending the evening in the library relaxing in front of the fire and visiting the house by ourselves. I don't know of any other period house where you're allowed to make yourself at home like that and soak in a bit of the grandeur and charm of such stunning property. Julie and the rest of the staff that I dealt with were so friendly and helpful. Do yourself a favour, go and discover this gem of a place!

Great place to spend a morning, the house and gardens were superb. The guide was more than helpful. Lovely tea room and BNB too.
D. K.
Well worth a visit if you are in bantry. The family keep the house and gardens so well the views are breath taking from the top of the steps and the brownies in the coffee shop are the nicest i have ever tasted.
S. H.
Lovely Visit. The kids, my wife and I all enjoyed it. We did both the house and the gardens and it was well worth it.
R. M.
This place blows my mind every time I visit. Love the beautiful garden and the incredible walk back in time as soon as you enter the house. I would definitely recommend for a visit if you're in the area. I believe the guest accommodation is a real experience. We stopped off after our stroll in the tea room and had coffee and sausage rolls that were so delicious!

Bantry House is absolutely fabulous. The interior and exterior of the house is beyond. The view is extravagant. Service is amazing aswell, recommend going and taking a look.
J. F.
It must have been wonderful but now rather neglected and sad. However go because the view is magnificent...possibly the best across the bay
E. h. (.
Gorgeous house and gardens, it's and absolutely lovely just to walk around with some great views
C. L.
Gorgeous gardens. The house tour is also worth doing. Would recommend
E. M.
An amazing setting with the well established trees and shrubs. Place is vast and that may be a reason why it is looking overgrown with weeds. The formal gardens at the back look stunning from up above, the place needs more tlc.

Spent our anniversary there recently, full of history and such a beautiful house and gardens , lovely people, we were really looked after ,breakfast was to die for I can't wait to go back, a must see for anyone visiting Bantry ,thanks guys x

We couldn't have enjoyed our stay more. From the moment that we arrived at Bantry House B&B for our three day stay, we were greeted with such courtesy and kindness by Julie, Sam and all the staff that we felt very welcome. The privilege of enjoying beautiful Bantry House in the quiet evenings and beautiful mornings with no other visitors is unique and a little surreal. Each morning we would walk down the garden steps to the glorious view across the bay before breakfast and in the evenings we would cycle down to Bantry for supper, then explore the gardens at leisure, before settling down in front of the fire in the Library to chat and read our books. There is much to explore nearby by bike or car, Garinish Island, Whiddy Island, Sheepshead trail were some of our picks. Breakfast was very delicious, from freshly baked scones to Frank Hederman's Smoked Salmon and scrambled eggs and afternoon tea in the Library was a highlight. Our comfortable room looked out over the gardens with a Ginkgo tree rustling outside the window. The hospitality from everyone was warm and genuine and we look forward to returning again. We also enjoyed our self guided tour of the house and chat with Julie very much!
A. R.
Wonderful views of the bay. The house itself magnificent but shows slight tinges of neglect which arguably add to its character.
e.
The house and the garden show signs of decline. House might require specialist care the owner cannot afford, but at least gardens could do with a tidy up. I don't think this place is worth making a special trip to, but ok to visit if you are passing by and need to kill an hour.
V. W.
We loved this place for so many reasons:
The kindness, empathy, flexibility…of its owners, especially Julie
The beauty and light room (top floor, end of the floor , 4 windows
The really best breakfast we had and we went to a 5 * hotel as well: the tasty pancakes, the way everything was presented, enough without being too much
The availability of the library , the masterpiece of the house, with a fire always ready in the fireplace
I could go on and on.
It truly was the highlight of our 10 day trip to Ireland, of all trips to Ireland I already took (this was my 6th time)
Thank you Julie for making this as special as we needed it to be
D. O.
Stunning house and gardens in Bantry, County Cork. Probably one of the most impressive old stately homes in the country, with picture postcard scenery making for some spectacular photos. A must see when in the area, or even as a planned day trip to spend a pleasant afternoon. Highly recommended.
R. C.
I didn't go into the house itself but for €6 the gardens have stunning views and great place to play with the kids
p. c.
Beautiful house to visit , grounds lovely, a little expensive at €11 per adult, for the amount of the house you can see.
A. B.
Nice place which need more attention because they've big potential. We had good time.
B. A. B.
Fantastic house and gardens. Totally worth a visit.
S. C.
A special place. The views across Bantry bay to Berra are wonderful and the garden walks very natural. Walking up the garden steps is rewarding and beautiful as the view changes constantly.
g. k.
Beautiful house and gardens ,well worth a visit,,s lot off history,,and lot to see ,,and beautiful view off Bantry bay
M. V.
The gardens are an absolutely beautiful place to walk in, quiet and peaceful. Unfortunately the house itself wasn't open to guests on the day of my visit. There is a friendly little cafe located on the west side of the building with semi enclosed seating.
S. S.
This is a must see . A truly unique garden, layered upon the bay. I only had access to the gardens as the house was closed but it is worth visiting if you enjoy historical gardens and architecture
C. L. (. v.
Beautiful sight!! Great that it can be accessed by public even though the building is privately owned.. Anyone visiting Bantry town must visit Bantry House.
E. M.
Beautiful house, amazing gardens. Friendly staff. Would love to B&B here some time
D. B.
We were there when work was only starting for the renavations .it wil be a lovely place to visit
m. m.
If you want great views of the house and surrounding land, you can walk up to the very top maybe 4 or 5 flights of steep steps some of them are very uneven. If you cannot use the steps there is a path way up through the woods to the very top.
R. S.
Faded elegance; clearly this used to be a beautiful garden, it still is, just slightly wild and overgrown. Our guide book had said the gardens are free, not anymore -its €6 per Person at an honesty box 📦 💰
It’s a nice place for a bring your own picnic, there’s a wee tea room, but we missed out on the sandwiches 🥪 . It’s worth going up the steps as there are some Beautiful views!
The owners live in the house and it has a separate fee to go in.
It’s a must do activity if you are in Bantry 🤩
S.
I love Bantry as a person who lives near by I can go there.walk.my dogs on lead.ive payed my annual fee of 10 euro to be able to walk in the grounds.i got a scone two weekends ago at the café ,my God it was out of this world.
T. H.
Great place to have tea over looking Bantry bay while being surround by history
J.
Beautiful gardens. You are able to get tea, coffee and a cake or scone, and sit in an open conservatory-type setting. Toilets are available.
n. s.
Beautiful house and the gardens are amazing
J. C.
Great place for a relaxing Sunday. The gentleman who greeted us at the main door of the house was extremely nice and a great story teller!
E. M.
Very nice place. Pleasant to walk around the gardens. You only need to pay to get into the house!
F.
Beautiful spot fading gracefully into ruin. Always worth visiting if you are anywhere near Bantry. Gardens and view from upper tiers magnificent.
P. M.
Historic house in a spectacular setting. Gardens partly restored but they need visitors to support further work.
M. H.
Stunning house and the views from the top of the steps are amazing. The house isn't open but the tea rooms and gardens are there is no charge in because of covid but there is a box for donations
J. L.
I just had my wedding at the Bantry House and it was absolutely amazing! We couldn't ask for a more accommodating and kind staff working at the Bantry House. The house was absolutely gorgeous and the grounds are breathtaking. We spent two nights at the B&B and the rooms were delightful. Modern bathrooms and comfortable beds. The breakfast was delicious! I would highly recommend a visit or stay to anyone!
L. D.
Absolutely LOVED it here. Sooooo pretty! The views from the top of the steps! Breathtaking! Highly recommend! Do not miss this if you're anywhere near Bantry!
H. G.
We always love visiting Bantry House. The view is spectacular, both from the house and from the top of the 100 steps. There's a lovely walk to the side of the house as well, next to the stream - lovely plants and wildlife to be seen everywhere. We love coming back year after year and seeing more and more renovations being done - it's brilliant. The best part for us, though, is the tearoom. The teas and coffees are very good, but the cakes are truly spectacular. Highly recommended!
G. A.
Very expensive for seeing only 4 bedrooms... But the views are incredibles.
D. A.
Its a lovely place to visit, for a walk in the grounds, enjoy the view over Bantry Bay and for tea and cake.
a. e.
We were lucky enough to stay a night here. Cozy, welcoming staff and owners. Comfy beds, beautiful library with open fire to ourselves. Amazing views, beautiful breakfast and enjoyed a tour of the house the next day.
J. G.
A lovely place to visit, though somewhat pricey. Gardens are pleasant if you are able to walk around them, the house itself has had lots of work done. I can recommend the cafe as the cakes are delicious. Some stunning views to be found
R. O.
Wonderful house and gardens. Should advertise/show prices for entry more clearly to get more visitors. We went on a Wednesday when the price was €5 (I think) for both house and gardens but the advertised price of €11 was still on the board in the car park which cars were reviewing and then turning around and leaving. Just a thought as would def bring more people in if more visible to visitors. The small pink posters at the entrance are too small for cars to see. We only saw these when leaving as we were looking for them.
d. C.
Very peaceful, scenic place! A place suitable for family either for a walk or a stay! Extremely helpful staff, very delicious home made breakfast! Never miss the chance of talking to their house tour guide Mr David, he knows-all, answer all our questions without a second relay! He brings life to history of Bantry house!
D. M.
Beautiful place, friendly staff working hard to improve it all.
C. M.
Beautiful, interesting visit. The owners were on hand to fill you in on the history. Amazing. Lovely tea and cake in the coffee shop too....and, gardens were gorgeous but it was lashing rain so couldn't stay long.
L. C.
Lovely house in its day. Sad to see it struggling. Nice place if you want to walk around the gardens.
L. R. L. L.
There is a beautiful garden and a coffee bar. Also, there are restrooms and it's really clean in general.
S. H.
Beautiful house and gardens, well worth a visit when in Bantry.
R. O.
Absolutely amazing place to visit. The weather was amazing which made it extra special. Afternoon tea in the library is a must and very reasonable. A walk around the gardens is a delight. Aoife served us afternoon tea and her service was 5 star. Memories that will last forever.
J. C.
It was our second time to visit the garden. It’s still stunning with loads of beautiful plants.
M. R.
Really friendly and helpful staff. Relaxing location with stunning views across Bantry Way. Well worth a visit.
M. L.
A real gem of a place, rich in history. The guided tour was wonderful, with a really knowledgeable guide who made the history of the place accessible for everyone in the group, including adults and children alike. The house is a real, lived-in home still, not a museum, so it doesn't have the perfected, sterile style of your typical OPW property.
T. F.
Beautiful house with sea views and beautiful gardens
D. Q.
Highly recommend the Bantry house and garden tour. Climb the 100 steps to oversee the gardens, castle and out to the sea. You can explore the ruins of the original castle and enjoy the majesty of the new castle which is still in good repair and in private use. The wisteria in the garden is beautiful and it blooms in the spring and later in the summer. If you are in Bantry you must explore this place.
A. P.
One of my favourite Irish manor houses. The garden is stunning, with unbelievable views over Bantry Bay. Definitely recommended.
M. K.
We arrived pasy 6 pm and hoped to find someone who could sell us tickets for the gardens. It was a dark cloudy day and the whole estate seemed to be a bit deserted and run down - quite eerie. It seems like they are struggling to keep the place in shape, but nonetheless it's a pretty manor and worth visiting - it resembled "Secret Garden" to us... Especially that there is a secret garden, if you walk up the stream.
g. c.
Sadly the house isn't in the condition it deserves to be. But for good reason, the fact that it has stayed in the same family for 11 generations and they still care about it so much can be felt by the visitor. I can only imagine the cost of trying to keep the house open. I have visited many houses in Ireland but this was the only one that has a soul. Excellent tour guide, loads of information and obviously loves her job. Looking forward to my next visit.
O. Č.
Beautiful house, amazing gardens that aren't extremely maintained (in my opinion it is better off so, offers a very authentic experience), cosy café. Worth the visit!
D. S.
The Bantry house is a great experience. Very close to Bantry town, 10-15 minutes walk, it has incredible views to the sea. The atmosphere is very relaxing and they have delicious food and drink for acceptable prices.
The tour is quite interesting and the house is very well taken care of. Staying overnight is quite expensive but you're helping the family to continue renovating the house.
Recommended for a romantic weekend.

2nd time visiting , what a magical house with fascinating history. Well worth a visit
J. O.
Kids enjoyed. Little quiz got them involved in history. Great tea room. Fab view from 100 steps be warned very steep or the walk windy path(rear west/ruinned stables) to reach top of steps at gentle pace.
H. C.
Lovely walk and views of Bantry Bay. Will be beautiful in spring and summer when gardens get a grooming.
D. B.
The entrancing gardens are currently open as is the café. The gardens were peaceful, beautiful, and well worth the visit.
C. S.
Lovely old house lovely gardens
N. H.
If you like visiting stately homes, manor houses and similar places with a historic value, Bantry house is right up your street! Absolutely beautiful inside and out it's well worth visiting here if you are in Bantry! The entrance that leads to the long driveway is located on the left as you head out of town on the road to Cork, it appears to be an old gate house and is easy to spot! When you have been inside the house take a walk up the steps in the gardens to see the beautiful views over Bantry Bay!
S. D.
Not a good example of a nicely maintained historic house, should have been donated to national trust or similar NGOs. Lots of the decorations are fallen or gone, including the indoor panels. A little disappointed
B. K.
Superb period dwelling. Has seen better days but the family are bravely trying to keep the house and gardens in a fit state of preservation. We had a wonderful tour and enjoyed the gardens imensely. I wouldn't mind trying out the B&B sometime.
H. H.
Incredible manor house, it looks like something out of a movie. Sophie is lovely. The bathroom had heated floors, the beds were quite comfortable. Don't miss the library (have a drink by the fire before you retire), walking around the house when it is open in the morning, and climbing the steps at the back on the gardens for amazing views of the bay. I would stay here again!
R. C.
I am positively surprised. I didn't expect to learn (and to see) so many interesting new things. Lovely persons welcome you and the guide was super. His English was also easy understand for foreigners and thus non native English speakers. Which is by far not always the case in English speaking countries. Almost Mediterranean 'ambiente' when sitting at the terrace with great view over Bantry Bay
H. B.
Lovely return visit to Bantry House, a magical and fascinating place even on the wettest of days. Guide Fiona was wonderful, informative and charming making our afternoon so enjoyable, even for two reluctant teenagers.
A. B.
Well worth a visit. Beautiful gardens, amazing views and a house so rich in history. Our family really enjoyed the the we spent here.
U. K.
Nice place. For high tea you must make reservation on time. But their regular food was good too. If you want to eat only buy only the ticket for the gardens.
D. A.
Definitely a great place to stay.
The history.
The GARDENS.
The heated floors.
The staff, especially David.
The location and the forest walk.
But you have to pay for it.
Also - avoid the restaurant if you are hungry. Their main is skinnier than a normal starter.
P. B.
I spent a lovely morning with friends drinking coffee and chatting out in the garden patio. The flower garden was in full bloom - stunning. Great time there as always!! The friendly Robin loved the cake as much as we did.
D. H.
Great Mansion with a nice garden to explore.
The Mansion Looks a little bit scrapped but during to that it has a unique atmosphere.
If you climb up the 100 Steps you will get a fantastic view.
If you are in Barry you should visit Barry House & Gardens!
A. G.
A gorgeous house with gorgeous interiors, gardens and view. Highly recommended <3
K. K.
Nice house, garden in poor condition. 6 euro entrance. Was expecting better
K. C.
Gorgeous house and gardens in the beautiful west cork town of Bantry. I must say I was very impressed with the guide's knowledge he really gave us a great tour of the house and his tour was filled with great anecdotes. Definitely take advantage of the guided tour to really make this an even more memorable experience.
C. R.
Great stately home. Not as much opened up as I'd hoped. The climb to the top of the 100 stairs rewards with ia spectacular view. Could do with a refresh and repairs in places, but that all takes all money. Would have been amazing to see it 150 years ago.
J. M.
Great place to visit while in Bantry. The Tea rooms are good. The cakes were absolutely delicious. I knocked it down on one thing and that's the presentation of the cutlery and table trays. They have seen better days and I know it's a small thing but they need to be changed as they look over worn and dirty. Other than that do go visit amd enjoy the carrot cake....
J. P.
Perfect b&b in a country Manor house. Gorgeous room with views to the water and garden. Excellent guided tour of the house that was most interesting. Friendly people. Wood fireplace in the massive library made for a relaxing evening of reading...cozy next to the warm fire. Superb full Irish breakfast very tastefully presented and perfectly prepared. Our hostess was very pleasant contributing to our enjoyable stay. Quite a unique experience staying in this home and walking the gardens. The Petersons
k. B.
Lovely garden it could take you 2 hrs to look around in depth.
D. D.
Stayed a night. The room was lovely, access to the grounds, library and Billiards room after the day trippers were gone was a magical experience. Highly recommended.
D. O.
Beautiful place and worth the time to walk around the grounds, stroll through the woods and experience the views.
R. Z.
The garden is so so. Not worth the ticket. I have been to way many and better garden. Not impressed. The tea room is very normal. Nothing special. The view is nice. The bantry little town is beautiful.
L. A.
Lovely place to visit. Amazing house with a spectacular views and gardens. Loved the inside of the house, especially being able to see alot of original features. Would recommend a visit
v. r.
If you love historical houses this is a must. Truly a beautiful house and Gardens. Take a few hours out to enjoy fully, especially the views. Also has a coffee shop and friendly staff
L. P.
Fantastic views from the top of Bantry House.
D. T.
Low number of people on a bank holiday. Baby buggy friendly switchbacks to the top of the lookout.
E. L.
Oozes character on so many levels! Great beds, very spacious rooms, piping hot water and the 2 hosts are very accommodating. Will stay here again and again when the opportunity arises.
M. -.
Didn't stay at the hotel but I stopped there to get tea and I discovered this unique place ! They serve the best cheesecake i've ever eaten. Amazing location and breathtaking view as well !
D. H.
Lovely gardens and views of Bantry Bay. Delicious food in the cafe.
J. W.
Amazing place. Can't wait to come back when everything starts to bloom 😃
B. Q.
Very expensive entrance fee, house must have been beautiful in its day. It has fantastic views of the bay and if you are fit clime the 99 steps for an awesome view.
C. S.
Very historic houses with original family as owners. Great scenery of Bantry bay. Lovely gardens. Tea room.
T. S.
Nice gardens and walkways ,with great views over Bantry bay could spend a couple of hours there weather permitting ,tea room on grounds
K. B.
House steeped in history on magnificent grounds with stunning gardens. The inside is rich in historical artifacts and well worth a visit.

Pleasant spot to enjoy tea and light lunch after hiking. The house holds many antiques and captures well its period in history.

Very nice destination when you are in the County Cork, Wild Atlantic Way. Very old and lovely, owned by the Family for hundrets of years, patinated and authentic, taking a coffe or a choclate in the cafe an have a home made Cake. Also recommandable when travelling with children
T. L. M.
Top estate and house in Ireland , offering a very interesting visit and tour for visitors and great accommodation , ambiance , and backdrop for photographic shoots and wedding venue . The owners and staff most polite and helpful . Definitely a 5 star rating .

Ú. K.
A pleasant place to wander. We got delicious chocolate brownies in the cafe here too 😋
E. P.
A bit delapodated but still very memorable. I think the surrounding gardens outshined the house. The cafe had a sticky pudding to die for!
L. M.
Lovely views... definitely a place to walk around and picnic...
T. C.
A bit run down and the gardens weren't as well kept as Garrish island. Still a worthwhile visit. Lovely views.
F. L.
Beautiful gardens very peaceful place for a stroll
N. S.
Interesting stately home although the actual interior doesn't take long to get round. Really nice extensive gardens.
M. M.
A fascinating and quirky collection of art from all over the world set in small but beautiful grounds with great sea views. Lovely cafe too.
P. C.
Amazing place! Had lunch, walked the grounds....this place is a must see for everyone visiting Cork
D. M.
Oops! This place is falling down! What a mess. It needs to be repaired urgently and it is sad to see such a pretty house on the edge. Maybe they should sell jam and other nice things in a shop to make more money.
M. O. K.
Absolutely beautiful views especially from the top of the 100+ steps and the tour of the house is an absolute must! Very interesting history and artefacts.
R. R.
Brilliant house and gardens but a bit expensive on the entrance. Still awaiting the hanging gardens as written on the map so il give it 4 stars for now.. :)
I. G.
Gardens great, and we'll worth a visit, but house is closed...
D. S.
I hope they get plenty of help to restore it it's a really beautiful place....but needs a lot of money to be restored on the outside any way ...the windows look like they would fall out ...I hope it will be saved it's such a sin for magnificent places like that not to be helped....Malahide castle and newbridge house seem to get lots of money to be restored......and places in Killarney....the gardens are magnificent.....in Rush in north coast Dublin there was a magnificent house called Kenure house ....and it was knocked down in the 60s such a shame .....so I home the council help to maintain Bantry House ...its such a magnificent place
V. R.
Very nice but a bit small.
V. R.
Lovely rambling gardens. Some formal ones to. Great cafe and outside covered space to sit to. Great events at the house at times.

m. m.
Lovely place, the house and gardens are just beautiful.
D. S.
Full of history, excellent guide, gardens being renovated.Fabulous views of Bantry Bay.

Good to explore gardens. House interesting if that's your thing, d3scriprions if each room easily accessible. Bit dark
M. O. S.
A wonderful place to visit, beautiful house and gardens with great history, well worth a visit or even stay in the old house while you are visiting.
L. B.
Beautifully well maintained grounds and an absolutely stunning house. You cannot pass this place up.
A. D.
House closed due to covid so not their fault there. Garden seemed a bit small for the entry price .
c. g.
Family run stately home. Hugely interesting and lovely gardens. Café as well - try the homemade sausage and mustard roll 😋
B. V. d. B.
Atmospheric but still a lot of work needs to be done. Big minus: it's not allowed to take pictures which is totally senseless (unless for the protection of their own shop?
t. z.
unusual setting and circumstances, quite impressive that this is still family owned and operated, views, gardens and the house are breathtaking - supurb!
B. M.
Entry price a bit stiff
S. A.
Get ready for a long walk and being one with the nature
D. S.
Lovely place. Free entrance, huge and perfect garden. Highly recommend

No photography allowed inside.. but beautifully maintained and the tour guide was excellent if somewhat exuberant 😀
N. K.
Stunning architecture, beautiful gardens and woodland area and absolutely returning views.
P. S.
What is completed of the gardens is gorgeous, but it is a bit pricey for a not fully finished garden.
No picnics allowed.
J. B.
Food is worth waiting till you get there for it, location is absolutely stunning. It's a place that I like to support for many reasons.
H. F.
Beautiful place, got a very enjoyable tour of the house. Keep up all the good work.👏

(Translated) Old manor house with a garden worth seeing, which we visited on our Ireland tour. At certain times there are guided tours through the house. Garden is open. Tip: See my public list for things to do in Ireland.

Garten steht offen. Tipp: Siehe meine öffentliche Liste für Sehenswürdigkeiten in Irland.

(Translated) One of the most beautiful things to see in Ireland, architecturally and historically speaking. It has a particular charm and is rich in family collections.
(Original)
W. W.
(Translated) A fun place to walk. It delights and saddens that not everything is neat and cared for. Part of the garden is overgrown and this was probably not what the designers intended.
(Original)

(Translated) It is a beautiful house that is located next to the sea in the town of Bantry. You will enter the house and the gardens are paid. The garden is worth a walk. The only downside is the indication. Well, there are two entrances, one that goes directly to the hotel if you are a guest and another there is a parking lot a little further on in the bay of the town. Before reaching the cemetery. It is not very well indicated.
(Original)
B. O.
(Translated) Interesting place for a family trip, parking and toilet on site, entrance fee.
Gardens € 6 and entrance to the house € 6. (currently only gardens) beautiful views. I recommend. The time of visiting the gardens should be more than an hour
(Original)
Ciekawe miejsce na wypad rodzinny, na miejscu parking i toaleta, wstęp płatny.
Ogrody 6€ i wejście do domu 6€. (obecnie tylko ogrody) piękne widoki. Polecam. Czas zwiedzania na ogrody miej więcej godzina

(Translated) The villa is beautiful both outside and inside and the staff is very kind

(Translated) Very special that the family itself maintains this. Lots of work!
(Original)

(Translated) Brilliant. Who is in the area and this beautiful castle almost not visited is your own fault. You have all the time in the world, that is not guided tours. At the end of the tour, you can enjoy a tea with scones in the café.
Ample parking is available. E is nothing to prevent a relaxing visit.
(Original)
Genial.

(Translated) Splendid historic home. The rooms, comfortable and tastefully decorated, are located in one of the wings. In the evening, access to the large library where you can read in front of a fire. Large billiards One can walk around at leisure in the park of the property. Exceptional breakfast. Not cheap but worth it for a night.
(Original)
Splendide demeure historique.

(Translated) Very nice bourgeois house, with a slightly decadent vintage charm. Exciting the history of the family that still lives and tries to keep it. Picturesque garden with a wonderful view of the bay
(Original)

(Translated) We came here on a round trip and made a little stop here.
Very spacious park and a stately home. Brilliant location with great views of the nearby lake. Walking through the park you will find beautiful locations with beautiful views.
However, one notices here the effort to keep such a large area and house in good shape. Partly it has come down a bit. Nevertheless, the charm has been preserved.
There is a small cafe with a very good hot chocolate.
The garden is also nicely decorated.
I found the entrance a bit too expensive for the offered. Nevertheless, a recommendation from me to stop by here.
(Original)

(Translated) The garden was very nice, although it was already slightly wild in some places.
The price for the house itself was too expensive for us, so we only looked at it from the outside, which is well worth it.
In addition, there was little going on, so you could take good pictures and walk undisturbed.
The tea room was also nice. I ate a cake that was delicious and the tea was good too.
For what was offered I found it too expensive, but in Ireland you can usually expect nothing else and must pay everywhere.
(Original)
T. F.
(Translated) Very nice facility, beautiful architecture. The building is unfortunately in need of much renovation in many places. But the family running the property PRIVAT is noticeably hard pressed to maintain the building. Too bad that the state or similar does not promote such historic buildings worth more.
(Original)
M. F.
(Translated) Very nice castle, definitely visit. The owners are still there, through B & B you can learn a lot of interesting history. Delicious honey is also available to buy.
(Original)

(Translated) Fantastic house with wonderful garden! (Hammer!) Interior interesting but rather unspectacular, compared to the garden. Sweet cafeteria, toilets available.
Insider tip: you can apparently stay there, I have not seen before in hotel portals.
(Original)
Fantastisches Haus mit wundervollem Garten! (Hammer!)

(Translated) An old mansion with a very interesting history. The house is located, in contrast to the Muckross House, in the possession of the actual owner, which is why the place unfortunately a bit more in the days came, but not so touristy. The tour of the house was personally managed by the owner, who is very friendly and has explained everything well. Around the mansion is a beautiful garden and other old buildings. If you're in the area, definitely visit Bantry House, just to support the family.
(Original)
W. 4.
(Translated) Interesting park around the mansion in which one can spend the night. The fact that it is not easy to get a property of this size you can see the building at every turn. The visit here is definitely recommended.
(Original)
M. H.
(Translated) Attractions property, both buildings and the park. You can visit many rooms in the house. Very nice is also the view from the Bantry House and from a higher point in the park to the bay and Bantry House. In the coffee there are delicious cakes and sandwiches. Parking was available directly at the house.
(Original)

(Translated) Very nice building but totally run down. If the building were to be renovated, it would be beautiful in all respects. Great architecture, perfect location ... But unfortunately as already described in a pitiful condition. That's too bad.
(Original)

(Translated) A beautiful house from around 1700. Unfortunately also partly inhabited, so that not everything is visible. The place is beautiful with the view of the sea and the hills!
The garden is nice to walk through. Worth the effort. Our 4 kids thought there was not enough to see, but they enjoyed themselves.
Hopefully the church will also be restored.
(Original)

(Translated) We stayed at the bed and breakfast here. There are only a few rooms and they were booked early.
And what can I say, it was like a dream! I felt like Alice in Wonderland! Very nice owners, a bombastic ambience, nice rooms with comfortable beds and a great breakfast! In the evening we were allowed to look a little the rooms. And completely without other tourists, but with students and a professor from Germany, who are currently doing restoration work. The fireplace burns in a room and you can comfortably end the evening here. Also the restaurant recommendation of the owner was sensational! Just inquire and reserve soon enough!
I have rarely experienced such a great thing! I definitely want to go back here on my next holiday in Ireland. And I'm curious what it looks like now.
P.S. in the photo you can see the view from our bedroom. Just beautiful!
(Original)

(Translated) When staying in the area, it would be a mistake not to stay here.
The rooms are large and comfortable with modern bathrooms. The bedding is literally exceptional.
You have access to a small lounge for your aperitifs and a large period lounge with large fireplaces and a grand piano to relax.
The setting is enchanting and somewhat mysterious.
The breakfast is delicious with smoked salmon from Bantry Bay.
(Original)

(Translated) Beautiful park overlooking the Bantry Bay. The Bantry House can also be explored without a guide. At the moment some pieces are being restored. You can look over your shoulder at work. Interesting!
(Original)
Interessant!
M. F.
(Translated) The house is worth seeing, there are also German maps. The garden is nice, but I would have expected more, well-kept. Teamhouse is highly recommended.
(Original)
J. R.
(Translated) A great house in an idyllic location. May only be visited by tour, as it is still inhabited. Unfortunately, it was never able to achieve the full shine, as the builder z.T. before the money ran out and he died. Now the heirs are trying to keep the house in good condition through a cafe and a B & B, with great rooms. That's not easy because of the gardens alone. The house has a magnificent library, which in the evening serves the B & B guests as a lounge - with a fire in the open fireplace. The house and the prestigious garden on the sea side have a great view of the bay and the oyster farms in front and on the headland behind the bay.
(Original)
H. H.
(Translated) Morbid charm with a great garden, but definitely not worth entry - if you compare it with other attractions in Ireland (e.g. Powerscourt).
The only reason for the excessive admission price would be a personal desire to support the preservation of this house.
As a B&B it is certainly very stylish, but unfortunately also very expensive.
Overall dispensable goal.
(Original)
Insgesamt entbehrliches Ziel.

(Translated) Despite the natural beauty of the place, the passage of time corresponded to a general feeling of decay especially in maintenance and in particular in the gardens, unappealing.
(Original)
