Always good exhibits in this welcoming and safe space. Good place for all ages, exhibits change around quite regularly, so Always something new and fresh to see. Great to see new artists visible in this amazing space. Always great to see there is an LGBT trail for Pride 2021. There are special posters dotted around two floors so you've to keep your eyes peeled
T. K.
Amazing rare Rembrandt collection! Great diverse selection of exhibits, the exhibit of animal paintings and sculptures was extremely interesting- and very helpful staff.
L. P.
Small but perfectly curated collection and exhibition. FREE ENTRY!
Very Irish and very worldly at the same time. Extremely accessible and friendly compared to some larger galleries. Top marks all round.
We particularly enjoyed getting so close to the Greek sculpture casts and John Ffrench's wild pottery. Harry Clark, stain glass was extraordinary and his sketches terrifying so getting to see the contrast was a real treat.
Working our way though the online videos now. Keep up the good work.
N. G.
Free entry, lovely staff, I was there on culture night and they also had live music, recommend to visit their store
J. G.
Went to see the Rembrandt exhibition which was interesting, didn't have time for much more but would love to revisit.

A very quick visit. I took the time, on a trip to Cork, to look around the city centre, and take a few photos. The Gallery has visual impact, and the display looked interesting enough. It was lightly populated, unlike the cafe.
A. K. T.
A well organised gallery, superb exhibition of Rembrandt etchings and Harry Clarke watercolour paintings and stained glass. We whiled away a rainy morning stocking up on culture,it felt very comfortable and safe. Delicious plum and pistachio cake in the café,a well run and spotlessly clean space. Thank you all.
E. M. M.
Easy location, easy accessibility, clean and of course good art! There are three floors and all of them have a lot of painting and sculpture! I loved it!
b. c.
Always wonderful for a visit (and entry is free). Beautiful heritage building, lovely exhibits. Cafe within which is excellent. An Oasis of calm and culture in the centre of Cork city. Top of your 'must do' items when visiting
E. P.
Well worth a visit if you are in the city centre
M. S.
Really enjoyed the short visit we made to this place. Focused mainly on the second floor as wanted to see the stained glass and Edith Somerville paintings. Also enjoyed a lovely buttery mice pie and coffee at the garden cafe. Will definitely drop in their again next time in Cork to visit first floor offerings which includes some of Sir John Lavery's work.
R. W.
Beautiful building. First room on entry showing the Canova Casts is worth seeing. Upstairs' modern exhibit will give you something to discuss. There are renovations right now so there's less to see, spend an hour or so here, there's a little something for everyone.
E. F.
Not busy in the gallery, it was lovely to wander around. The Rembrandt exhibition was amazing!
A. M.
One of the most immersive art galleries I have seen in Ireland.
M. M.
This is a great place to visit . You don't have to be and art buff to enjoy a walk around here . It is free to enter and you can make a donation if desired, I'm not a gallery person but still enjoyed the walk around here . Its well worth a visit . There is also a cafe inside if you want a cuppa.
D. M.
Charming, friendly and free. What more can you want? Good exhibition of Rembrandt etchings from Oxford and a very decent meal in the restaurant
p. b.
Best museum in Cork, there are casts by some 19th centuries sculptors made from original Antonio Canova's artworks. Beyond that, you can see permanent and also temporary exhibitions of paintings from older and most recent times, ceramic, other various form of visual arts included video installations. The entrance is free and that is a super plus. Coffee shop and bookshop available inside.
A. P.
The highlight for us was the exhibition of the Canova casts - excellent. The other exhibitions were also well-curated - also enjoyed the 'Seen, not heard' childhood exhibition. A lovely cafe also.
D. N.
Town Art Gallery. Downstairs are the boring old statue casts, which have little to do with Cork and its art. The paintings upstairs are good. There will also be transient exhibitions. Free admission and usual cafe & shop. Well worth an hour.
u. k.
Wasn't something great, quite similar to the other art galleries in Ireland. Didn't seem to have guides around who could share some background. The movie hall played a 16 mins movie which wasn't relevant to art at all. Nonetheless, it's free entry, so can visit once if you are fancy.
J. N.
Saw on RTE that it was going to undergo renovation so thought we'll have a quick look. Interesting collection of plaster casts. Worth a visit, but don't have lofty expectations. Just enjoy what's there.
L. O.
Crawford Art Gallery is wonderful place to send an afternoon. There are a number of exhibition that visit the gallery throughout the year. When we went in, there was a food exhibition on at the time. They showed a different side of food. They showed that sometimes food can be useless. Showed that sometimes the most disgusting looking food can be the most delicious. The host was extremely friendly and welcoming. Afterwards we walked around and enjoyed the other art pieces on display.
L. S.
What a hidden gem in the City Centre- magnificent building that’s decidedly huge inside- with something for everyone from paintings, film, installations, ceramics.... free entry seven days a week!
A must visit site ❤️
C. H.
We spent some time visiting this art gallery in December. Some of the exhibits were quite unusual. We watched a short film there that had us talking for some time after!
A. N.
A lovely place where one can easily spend 2-3 hours admiring the art. Free admission makes this well worth the visit, too!
N. N.
Beautiful Art Gallery
Really liked it
C. M.
Had a great time exploring the variety of artists displayed among all the floors. Wide variety from sculptures, paintings, to video.
P. B.
Excellent free gallery in the centre of Cork city. Lots of exhibits in a variety of media will engage the whole family. You can easily spend a few hours browsing. What I liked about it was the fact that you were given a description of the work but also an expanded explanation of the issue raised in the piece. For instance the picture I have included here is called "The Stray Sod" if I remember correctly and it deals with the Irish myth of disconnection from reality. There is a story that you can accidentally step on a piece of the earth that is disconnected from our present reality and you are lost to the world.
The way to ensure that you could return to this reality was to turn your clothing backwards and you would be able to walk back to our world! I had heard of this when growing up and forgotten all about it until I turned a corner in the Crawford and was confronted with this piece.
Wonderful day out for all the family, nice cafe with outdoor dining on site as well.
A. B.
Fantastic exhibition and full of culture. We saw the Rembrandt copper art works, which were amazing.
T. N.
Nice place to visit if you're into art.
During my visit there were a few nice pieces, but many pieces are just too weird for my taste
T. O.
Great place to visit if you have some spare time. Very convenient for city centre.
J. R.
Amazing gallery, however we visited during A heatwave and you could tell it was doing permanent damage to some of the art due to the lack of air conditioning. I'd visit sooner rather than later.
L. B.
Great Rembrandt exhibition in a lovely building. Great way to spend a couple of hours.
I. S.
Lovely atmosphere... food is always really tasty.. nice coffee & cakes.
L. G.
Visited last month. Well presented gallery and worth a visit whilst in Cork. Free admission!
T. A. T.
One of my favourite places in Cork City. You always find something new every time you visit.
M. B.
Great interactive exhibition recently for kids. My little one loves it!!! There is always a new excersise to entertain the kids and it looks that they love it!
I like the traditional art sections as well.
F. T.
Fabulous exhibitions. Lovely staff.

Well worth visiting to see the plaster copies of some of classical sculptures, finest pieces
C. L. (. v.
I love the Crawford gallery so much. The people of Cork can be more than proud to have such a wonderful museum in their city. The current pandemic paintings exhibition is very much worth visiting..
B. C.
Was great for a free gallery. Really enjoyed the art
D. O. M.
Great gallery for all the Family my 1 year old loves running around the gallery and 4 year old enjoys it aswell and loves the kids colouring section when set up
P. G.
Good to see the paintings and statues. Also came to know about Cork history. No entrance fee. Will need minimum 90 minutes to cover entire gallery.
a. d.
One of the top spots in Cork. Great space of modern art and a coffee very cozy and nice
F. O. S.
Top class. Loved it. Even the 5 year old loved it. It's a brilliant place and I love that such a gallery is on out doorstep.
J. D.
A beautiful building with some interesting art pieces. A welcome find within the centre of Cork. €4 optional donation when I visited.
E.
A wide selection of art works in a lovely building. Never fails to bring wonder and curiosity. A pleasure to visit.
J. G.
Nice place, unfortunatle there are some expositions closed. Maybe the next time.
J. A.
3 floors of art.. The visual arts rooms are worth your time!
j. s.
Beautiful building. Great history of cork life to be had.lovely painting's. Staff were exceptionally helpful and one lady in particular was very knowledgeable and patient, explaining connections with artwork to cork. Definitely worth a visit if your nearby.
s. a.
Absolutely amazing . Love Harry Clarke. Even Rembrandt showed up
P. N.
Nice place especially as its free entry.
k. M. p.
This is a greatt gallery, beautiful pieces, its free so defo well worth the visit.
J. L.
Hidden gem in full sight of Cork. Admission is free. Changing schedule of exhibitions.
C. O.
Really lovely setting with great food and staff
R. V.
Very nice, great safety procedures for covid as well. Great little outside area for coffee/tea snacks.
G. b.
Lovely gallery in the centre if Cork...bright and airy exhibitions...free to enter, and cheerful/friendly staff
e. w. o. R.
Very nice little gallery. It has a lot of classical sculptures on the lower floors and a collection of Irish art work from the last hundred years on the first floor. The permanent collection is not very exciting. For more interesting choices check out visiting exhibitions. The cafe provides good tea and some excellent breakfast choices
J. L.
Restaurant claims to be award winning. Much better dining can be found in the city
M. C. C.
Great central amenity. Lovely cafe. Great staff. Free (but leave a donation)
L. L.
Visited all floors. Plaster models were really worth restoring. Visually the exhibition about childhood (Seen, not Heard) is excellent. Well worth a visit. Nice food in the gallery restaurant and waiting staff are very nice.
C. M.
A big place with great paintings and sculptures 🖼
I. L.
Entrance is free and they had a great variety of exhibitions.
B. M.
A nice museum and a great place to hold events. I was honoured to speak to the Cork Scientific and Literary Society there.
P. L.
Nice, quiet place. Much to see. Hard to find a place to park; crowded. Would visit again.
C. O.
A great free public resource and some great shows
S. O. M.
The cafe in the Crawford Gallery is a little gem hidden away at the back of the building. The menu is limited but everything is worth trying and cooked beautifully. It can be busy at the weekends but you can obivously while away the time in the art gallery while waiting and soak up the culture and history of the place.
G.
Great place to visit as a tourist or as a local, the collection is always changing (at least every month) and is definitely of particular interests. Free entrance and central location. The tearoom is open every day and has a good selection of quality treats and is known for its breakfast.
H. H.
One of the few things in Ireland that are free is a casual stroll through Cork's Crawford Art Gallery with regularly changing exhibitions.
T. O.
Somewhat underwhelming despite the possibilities... The best pictures are on posters outside.
N. J.
The collection is eclectic and not particularly well curated. While I found a few pieces there that I enjoyed personally, there are also plenty of pieces that are mislabeled or simply don't seem to be museum-quality art. The central gallery space one floor above the entrance is quite nice. And I can't complain about the price because admission is free.
L. D. M.
It was a day for sitting outside so we tried the outdoor cafe. Most relaxing and friendly atmosphere. Wonderful pot of tea and China cups and saucers. I only had time to peep into the gallery. The building is fabulous! I will go back for a proper look soon and another cuppa.
J. P.
If you are in the city, well worth half an hour to see the plaster reproductions of the classic statues all packed in to one little front room.
Some very good paintings around the walls as you go upstairs.
And has good temporary exhibitions.
Also a very nice cafe in at the back.
Not a must see (but very little in Ireland is - it's just not that kind of country), but definitely worth a look and a stop for a cup of tea.
And (very importantly) , a good and cheap postcard collection.
V. N. C.
Wonderful to see Rembrandt's prints.
M. R.
Beautiful building and some great exhibitions.
E. Q.
Good museum to see the contemporary art of Ireland.
j. c.
Excellent exhibitions and cafe experience
M. M.
Randomly popped in a fortnight ago on a Sunday with my 3 small kids. Didn't realise there was an art class going on for kids. While I was weighing up the situation I was asked to join in by 2 very friendly ladies. All 3 were catered for and had such fun. Really well organised and would definitely go again.
H. F.
lovely breakfast service very good 👍
S. F.
It has a great daytime restaurant, The art gallery is small but well presented. It has several special exhibitions each year which keep regular visitors happy
M. F.
If you need to escape the hustle and bustle of Cork City and fancy a bit of art appreciation then this is the place for you. A mixture of art and sculptures past and present. I think some of the modern stuff is called contemporary and I didn't grasp what was going on in the exhibition but it changes regularly and I'm looking forward to my next visit. The building itself is also impressive.
t. c.
Well laid out, modern and installation art on the upper floors.
L.
I spent hours on end staring at paintings and exhibits here growing up and now I'm getting to pass on that treasure to my niece. We are especially enjoying the Seen and Heard exhibit:)
M. D.
Every Sunday at 14:00 there is a free guided tour of the Gallery. Highly recommend taking the tour. Our tour guide named Michael was very knowledgeable and really made it a great experience.
m. s.
We used the lecture room this morning, my first time in here (I'm ashamed to say as I'm from Cork) we had a guided tour afterwards with a guide named Michael who was very nice and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend to trip in here for a change of pace and just relax. Lovely restaurant there also which I will call in for lunch in the future.
J. B.
A must see in Cork city, for tourists and anyone living here. Located in the city centre it's ideal for a short visit over a lunch break or to spend a day inside. It offers a great look at the history of the gallery itself, its members and its city. With new exhibits always showing and a stand out cafe downstairs it's always on my list for a return visit.
C. F.
Very nice gallery, excellent childrens area upstairs where kids can draw and read. Coffee shop on the ground floor. Well situated in the CBD or Cork city. Free entrance. Of particular interest in the historical pictures of Cork city, very interesting.
L. L.
The building is lovely and the all exhibition is interesting. You'll find fine art pieces in this gallery. A little gem in Cork. It's definitely worth the visit and it's free, so no excuses. A nice activity with or without kids.
M. N.
Delightful, enjoying art for free. Priceless
g. d.
I enjoy going to the Crawford Gallery and observing the works of other artists. Not all would be my cup of tea but still you have to admire the time and effort that goes into each painting or sculpture. I f we all turned out similar work art galleries would be very boring places.
To those people whom mention that their three year old could do better then please get them to do so and submit the piece for approval, or let the critics among you show us what you can do.
I was really struck with the exhibits of Mary Kanzy and hope many more female artists are given the limelight. It's amazing the many different styles she painted in her lifetime and it's well worth the visit to see this. Well done Mary and well done the Crawford for this exhibition.
S. K. M.
Fab free art gallery in the middle of cork city! Beautiful asset to locals and visitors alike.
P. B.
Interesting gallery, offering a mix of Irish works. Paintings, textiles, glass, photography and video works. Very good show on 'naked truth' when I visited. Impressive collection, nice building also.
z. s.
Beautiful building and lovely cafe. Some interesting exhibits. Video presentation on the top floor. Was really interesting, but after viewing the rest of the gallery, it was difficult to stay awake!
B. H.
As of September 2021, only partially open which was a bit disappointing.
F. S.
I love the Crawford. It's a beautiful gallery with a lovely selection of art and antiques.
There's also a lovely cafe on site. A great few hours to pass on an afternoon.
L. K.
Wort to visit. Satisfaction with exhibitions depends on your taste. Not very inovative, but always find a few interesting pieces. Building itself is interesting. Lovely Cafe inside.
M. G.
I follow Harry Clarke and visit windows designed or cast by him, whenever I can. The current exhibition at the Crawford with the video of Clarke's life was superb. I left the gallery enlightened. The male receptionist was informative and just about courteous. Not the usual Irish welcome.
f. c.
A great place for kids with 3 floors and a movie theater. cost FREE
I. L.
Great visit. Some pretty neat Irish and modern art. I went on a Friday evening so I had the place more or less to myself.
L. B.
A very neat art gallery, can definitely spend a good afternoon here! I came here to draw, and wasn't disappointed with my options of drawing material. Interesting artwork, with contemporary exhibits
T. C.
A Gallery that hosts both local and international art ranging with good, knowledgeable and courteous staff and a good restaurant with a fine selection of the finest foods and beverages. A must visit if you are looking for a good day out.
S. M.
This place shows great artworks especially wooden arts. Nice place for the artlovers. Heroes and villians section tells about how things were dominated by some people and others had to suffer.
A. H.
Fantastic free public gallery. Their permanent collection is lovely, and their exhibitions are wonderfully curated. Whether you live in Cork or are just visiting it is an excellent place to visit.
S. C.
Lovely place to visit for an art fix, a coffee or both. Accessible entrance and elevator. However part of the gallery is only reachable by some steps.
C. O. D.
Nice little gallery with a limited collection of art works. Free to enter with a little cafe in the back. Worth a visit
D. P. R.
Very nice building with a fine collection and a very soon with cast from sculptures made under the supervision of Antonio Canova. It's an institution with a flair for putting contemporary art and old masters together.
a. n.
Free admission, bizarre temporary exhibition
B. H.
Definitely worth a visit if you are in Cork City. I'd give the cafe a miss though. crawfordartgallery.ie

I really liked it here, I thought the art was very interesting and it's free so you can't beat that! I feel that it is worth the visit if your in Cork City and looking for something to do.
M. I.
A very nice cafe with great food ! Quite busy but after trying the food I know why ;) Plus they server real fresh squeeze orange juice! After we had a walk in the gallery to move a bit and chat still.
F. P.
Visited the Philip Toledano exhibition and went to a talk by the artist, excellent experience. Really glad the gallery is open on Sundays now as well.
M. D.

J. O.
Wonderful peaceful place to spend an hour or two and all this art to ponder and enjoy. Different experience each time we go there
V. L.
Beautiful building in interesting display of art. Good for a short visit and located near city central so very convenient
L. C.
This gallery is my homeplace; first time I saw Mary Swanzy was in the early 1980s, here. Joan Denise Moriarty whose classes I lived for in the 70s is still watching over the place in the first floor gallery. First time I exhibited was here, S.A.D.E. 1982, show was selected by Eduardo Paolozzi. Fantastic to see Alice Maher returning to her Alma Mater with Vox Materia while the brilliant Nudes exhibition is showing.
T. O.
A hidden gem in Cork City. With regularly changing exhibitions from Will Sliney's greatest works to "Seen and Heard" kid-friendly exhibits, the Crawford Art Gallery is a must-see in Cork.
J. K.
Great place to visit they are a lot of interesting pieces of sculpture there ..
You beds to spend a couple of leisurely hrs to take all in !!
Z. A.
Always worth a visit. Lovely lunch spot. Wish they would rotate some of the fixed exhibitions a bit more though.
c. c.
Just asked to place my bag on the floor or leave the swanzy exhibition. I can understand the reasoning behind this request but it was pretty embarrassing that the man on information duty singled me out at the top of his voice in a space filled people with bags. Why only ask me? It makes no sense. Dissappointed really
G. B.
My favourite place in Cork. An ideal place to escape from reality, put some headphones on, maybe listen to an audio book or some music, and take some photographs of really great art.
N. L. R.
Very nice place to visit, especially considering entrance and guided tour were free. Special treat was a tour themed by the cork pride parade that was going on through the week.
M. N. H. S.
Beautifully organized. Have large collections, big rooms for childrens. Dark room for visualization. Yet it seems too personalized. Needs to be more general.
T. P.
Free entry, great works of art, and a very peaceful environment. So glad I stopped by, I would highly recommend!
C. S.

Interesting mix of old and new, this sprawling gallery has something for everyone.
M. C.
Always interesting exhibits, and helpful staff. It's a medium sized gallery but always worth a visit. Aside from decent curation of modern and historical works, (outside of Covid) they do great practical art workshops for kids on weekends. I always love the small Harry Clarke room, and the Irish artists collection. The café is superb as well.

L. K. B.
Excellent gallery tour
P. F.
Lovely spot to spend an hour
D. B.
The lovely exterior of the Crawford Gallery isn't quite matched by the collection. Crawford probably works best a local gallery if you pop in to see the visiting exhibitions as they suit your taste. However I find the permanent collection to be somewhat confused. While there are some excellent works, I think the 19th Century portraiture is dull and lacks interest or a balancing collection to bring a sense of life.
M. N.
Some paints are really spectacular

Lovely collection of art

Lovely relaxing spot
K. R.
Pleasant experience. Conventional displays were very impressive although some of the sculptures were copies. Contemporary exhibition was quite controversial and not exactly what I look for in art, but I'm sure if that's your thing it was good. Cafe was pleasant and the food was good although possibly a little overpriced.

(Translated) Almost 200,000 visitors a year ... Free entry - and in 2019 the museum will be 200 years old!
Located in the old customs house in the center of Cork, where pictures from the 18th century bring the past to life. And modernity asserts itself. Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff!
In addition to changing exhibitions, there is the collection, immediately to the left of the entrance, the sculptures: plaster replicas from times and peoples. Harry Clarke's stained glass is also represented.
Afterwards, a café entices you to be among the 100 best in Ireland if you have the time: I used it for my sketch and add a view from St. Patrick Street and a photo from the stairwell!
