Reviews of The Patrick Kavanagh Centre
Superb spot with lots to offer for all fans of Kavanagh, poetry, or even just Irish culture. The staff were very knowledgeable and the facility was world class. We brought our class of 5th years and they all really appreciated it as well. I'll definitely be back!
We had an excellent visit. The director of the Centre welcomed us and then gave us a mini tour. He had great knowledge of Kavanagh, both his life and work. The centre captures both his early life on the farm and his later literary life in Dublin. A film running continuously, narrates some of his significant poems with relevant views of the Monaghan landscape. Well worth a visit.
Thanks Darren and the other staff for a memorable visit. Hopefully Patrick Kavanagh will get the recognition for his genius in death, that he richly deserved in life. The centre is very well laid out and very professionally run. I found the exhibits and interactive media very informative and has helped rekindle a childhood interest in Kavanagh. We will be back!
Great place with very knowledgeable staff. Pricey at €10 a head, but lots to see there. The poetry videos are excellent.
Very interesting - enjoyed learning about the life of the poet Patrick Kavanagh and the reading of his poems alongside appropriate video was really nice.
Brilliant. A totally underestimated poet. Not being of the Establishment meant he was ignored. He is my favourite Irish poet.
Great experience into his world of rural upbringing
Visited on Tuesday18th August 2020 and the centre was fantastic. Well laid out and very clear and easy to follow.
Well done to all involved Anne McCabe
Very well organised. The poetry readings at the end was wonderful
Tiny place in a little village. I don't know much about Patrick Kavanagh I'm afraid. Was there on business reasons only.
Brings the poets work alive. Particularly the film of the poetry being performed. Like the man, the place, a unique experience.
last resting place of Patrick Kavanagh
Looking forward to seeing the centre when the renovations are doing. Great history and very interesting stories.
We spent two enjoyable hours absorbing all the information on display at the Patrick Kavanagh Centre. We continued by visiting the various landmarks of the trail and finished the afternoon with tea and cake at the nearby cafe. An indulgent afternoon which will be repeated, perhaps with a guided tour next time.
Lovely graveyard always well kept and spotless.

The story and history of the country poet is in his old parish church. Also the final resting place for this well renown poet.
