It was quit a poignant visit to the actual Birth Place of Michael Collins!! Ghosts of history!!

Well maintained, would love to see it as a two story house

Great historical place & lovely to visit. Well looked after

This is the place where Collins was born. The house itself was burned down by the Black and Tans but the ribs are there as well as a restored outhouse which was the she if his home for the first ten years of his life. This is an OPW site and is free to visit. There are information boards and a busy of the man himself.
Ample parking outside but be careful look the approach roads as they are very narrow.

It was a really nice quick visit, there’s loads of parking space outside and when we went no one was there. There’s a few information plates about the buildings and Michael Collins. Was a really interesting and intriguing visit, would definitely recommend to check it out :)

Visited The Big Fella's birthplace at Woodfield and Sam's Cross on Saturday 16th Feb 19 with Murillo. Such humble beginnings for such an Icon, of Irish history. Amazing how the outside world ever even influenced the young Collins it being such a remote place especially over a century ago. Not much to see there really its a pity, but it is worth a visit if you are a fan.

Great to be at the birthplace of the big fella , to be on the same roads he would have walked as a young man and walk around the yard and touched trees he would have played around as s child it's a great tribute that the have rebuilt and restored this place and not let it go to complete ruin and overgrown

Quite interesting to visit the birthplace of such a giant of Irish history

Now maintained by the OPW. Not much to see (the house itself was burnt down by the British so you can only see the outline of the house from the foundation stones garden and a rear dwelling). Interesting to consider his early years spent here. Nice atmosphere.

Super place to see and walk in the footsteps of The Big Fella.

Just to stand and stop.in the birthplace and boyhood home of one the greatest Irish men who ever lived was a deeply moving experience for me.

Well worth a visit, not far from Sam's cross, where his local pub was, the four all's. But, you prob won't spend a lot of time here. There is not much left from the original house/site. Not much apart from the foundations of the house are left.

My favourite site connected to michael collins and didnt want to leave it! A place one should visit alone or with few people and dont be rushing off or you will not feel the presence of greatness and peace in the shadows of the trees!☺

Wow what an wonderful presentation on the life of Michael Collins and bus tour to the various sites associated with his life. Tim Crowley's enthusiasm for this historical figure was contagious.

Like stepping back in time. Very well kept. A credit to the opw. Very interesting. A little off the beaten track but well worth the short trip out there.

For a place of such historical significance, there is not much to see or read about.though it is pretty and well maintained.better sign posting would also be needed.
