Beautiful site out in the middle of Irish countryside. Absolutely gorgeous area and very picturesque
T. G.
Picturesque location. You will see a circular stone set up and ancient well. Wear proper shoes to avoid soggy shoes.
M. C.
Stunning views of Glandore, definitely recommend walk from village to stone circle.. Can be very wet ground, best have boots.
D. B.
A hands on and very humbling experience. Our ancient ancestors left us a beautiful but unsolvable mystery. One thing can be said for certain however; they left it as they found it. What are we passing on to future generations? There's definitely no mystery... There is no Planet B.
J. C.
Wonderful stone circle, very easy to find and well marked on the road out from Roscarbery. It's about 200 metres walk from the little car park with exquisite views around, and you can see the coastline.
The stone circle lines up with the solstice and there are also ruins of two huts right next to it. One was said to be a cooking hut, which is something I have never come across before and was unique to me.
A lovely place to visit for those interested in Irelands rich heritage and history, dating back to over 3,000 years ago. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
I. K.
Small car part. We'll mentioned paths and Circle is in perfect condition.
T. G. W.
Very interesting site. Good parking and plenty of information.
Known as the druids altar, dating from around 1100-800 BC
M. T.
Simple and intriguing insight into religion/life about 3000 years ago, treading where early humans trod. Only about 200 yards from car park with two simple and ample information boards on site.
G.
Great location, hidden from the world by winding roads and cattle farms. Very well taken care of, the site is very well conserved. The views of the country side and the sea give you the peace of mind needed to enjoy the place. Totally recommended.
I.
Very nice place to visit. There is free parking. From there a short walk, about 4 minutes.
It is a nice place to learn some history and maybe have a picnic.. beautiful view as well.
P. A.
Lovely spot with great views and scenery , good to let the kids out for a run aswell if you are driving around the wild Atlantic way
J. S.
We went here first thing in the morning and mostly had the place to ourselves. It was the best stone circle we've seen in our visits, and it's free to experience it. Beautiful views, and interesting history presented on the signs. In addition to the circle, there are ruins of huts as well as a communal cooking pit that could be boil 70 gallons of water in just 15 minutes!
T. J.
Wyatt an exciting find along the Wild Atlantic Way. We were so taken aback by seeing a well reserved little homestead from the Iron Ages. It truly captured our imagination trying to live in their environment so many years ago.

A mystical place of the Drui .
Energy is special here .
P.
If you plan to visit the south west of Ireland stop here on your journey. Amazing place.
M. D.
Went there twice during my 3 day visit to Cork, was a really nice and peaceful location to visit.
G. B.
A very interesting 3000 year old stone circle and fuaich feagh and bronze age settlement. Well off the beaten track but we'll sign posted.
The info at the site is informative and useful.
G. C.
Give this 3 stars although this was a compromise score. If your interested in history then finding a perfectly preserved structure like a mini Stonehenge in the middle of the country side is easily 4. If your not bothered by history then a few big rocks in a field will not do much for you.
A. C.
It was scenic, relatively secluded, and serene. There are a couple of informational posts around the site for those interested in the history / significance. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.
l. n.
superb location, great stone circle
T.
This looks like a very quiet place. A small pathway to walk down from the car park to the site. There is the stone circle and stone saddle queen. It had been raining so was a little wet under foot.
R. C.
This is a classic small stone circle, but it does feature two stone lined cooking pits too. There are two descriptive plaques explaining the design of the stone circle and the use of the cooking pits.
The site is a bit out of the way in southern Ireland, but worth a visit if you have the time. The parking lot is small and gets a surprising amount of traffic for being off a one lane road.
Kenmare has a much larger stone circle with no cooking pits, but only a five minute walk from downtown.
j. n.
Very cool place to visit. We were the only ones there and you could almost hear the calm.
If your not familiar with the area it's best to use Google Maps and the roads are just a wee bit narrow on the approach . Nice.little var park 40 or 50 meters from the circle..
S. F.
Nice stop off.very narrow roadway to and from so.take your time. Well sign posted and car park just off main road. Can get damp due. Avoid in very wet weather as path would be difficult. Very short walk from.car park to circle.

🔘Drombeg stone circle🔘
⚫It is a small recumbent stone circle located at the east of Glandore, County Cork, Ireland.
⚫The stone circle consists of seventeen closely spaced stones spanning 9.3 metres (31 ft) in diameter, only 13 survived.
⚫ It's also known as The Druid's Altar:
a druid was a member of the high-ranking professional class in ancient Celtic cultures.
⚫Radiocarbon dating of samples taken from the site suggest that it was active c. 1100 - 800 BC.
T. B.
Great place to visit. If you can find the place. Very poorly sign posted..
F. O.
Very historical place very cool but I hurt myself because there are needly things around it I put my whole right hand into it ouch !!!
R. N.
Simply spectacular, easy access and not far from fantastic shorelines and beaches
M. N.
Amazing historical place, exceptional. With parking lot and nice explaining frames. The view over the countryside and sea is wonderful. Go even if you are not fond of history, as the place is fascinating and with a great scenery.
R. F.
Small but intriguing historic site . Situated off the main roads. Good for a quick visit. Site is small and taken in in 30 mins max. View of the sea is also nice
T. B.
Great place to visit. Stop and let your mind drift back in time..
B. F.
If you are nearby definitely check it out. It's easy to find and the scenery is super nice!
J. T.
Beautiful place. Not really big, but perfect to see some ancient history.
M. K.
Amazing! Magical and great! You must see it! In a hill - Stone circle - and great view on a valley, hills, and sea. But it's difficult to get there. You need to go by car, because we was walked there 3 hours!)))
R. D.
Beautiful historic site. A very peaceful place to visit. I'm not sure I believe the story about heating up the water, but it's an interesting idea. I'll have to read more about the history of the site.
M. S. (.
A little bit of magic. I liked this morning out. We had a great time imagining how the people lived and what the surroundings might have looked like. Easy short walk from parking area. (Including a gate that might be tricky for prams)
E. A. G. G.
Beautiful and historic place.
E. L.
Of you are looking for a place to see Irish history that is accessible to everyone look no further. Everyone who visited us really loved it
S. B.
Stunning ancient site in a breathtaking location
T.
Nice bit of Irish history from the bronze age
R. J.
You'll need to drive along some pretty narrow and winding roads to get to Drombeg, but it's worth the trip. After a short walk from the (small) parking lot you'll end up at a nice little stone circle overlooking the rolling Irish countryside. At the far end of the site the remnants of some houses have been excavated. For both the stone circle and the houses sings have been put up explaining points of interest.
J. L.
Free entry and the site will very well preserved.
A. B.
I really loved this place, you can feel a bit of magic when you are there! Thinking about the life of the ancient that were living there and the reasons why they were building such stone circle for their rituals. There are same panels with a bit of explanation. On top of that, everything is for free.
R. D.
A wonderful experience. Well worth a visit.
M. K.
Great little place for history lovers the place has an information board as well.
C. S.
Always a nice, quick side trip when I am in the area. If you have not seen a stone circle yet, this is a great place to start. There are educational descriptions as well as a few other interesting ancient features. Not too far off the beaten path.
J. G.
A stone circle with some other primitive stone assemblies. It's a bit of a drive via a narrow road and there is about a 400 foot walk from The parking lot to the site on a dirt trail. Admittance is free
K. H. N.
Nice place. Description of a place on the spot. Close from the parking spot. Free access. Suitable for children. Not difficult access from the major road. Recommend to see.
M. C.
Drombeg is a 3000+ year old bronze age stone circle, with the tallest pair of stones directly opposite the altar stone, a lower flat table stone with carved cup-like depressions, the purpose of which are unknown. The line from portal to altar aligns with the sunset every winter solstice, at the turn of the year. Neolithic and Bronze Age cultures celebrated this solstice, with theories about the rebirth of the sun or the year as the days get longer. It would also have been the entry point to the hardest time of year, with no harvest. Some theorise that many cattle would have been slaughtered to avoid feeding then throughout the winter months, so there may have been a festive element to the rare surplus of meat.
Drombeg aligns with sunset (like Stonehenge) rather than sunrise (like Newgrange). While smaller than either, it's quite complete and gratifying set on a hillside overlooking the sea in two directions, and easily reached from Rosscarbery.
The stone circle was excavated slightly to reveal the remains of a young boy, whose disarticulated bones were radiocarbon dated to ~3k years ago. Also of note are the remains of two other structures nearby, a well preserved fulacht fiadh, and another structure where food may have been prepared (a bowl for milling cereals was also found).
The fulacht fiadh is a subject of debate. The stonewalled trough remains, along with a well dug to supply water, and the remains of a fire pit. Stones were heated at length and rolled in to boil water. Some believe they were steam huts (like first nation Americans used), baths, or breweries (and one was used to successfully brew ale!), but the prevailing theory is for cooking meat. This has also been tested successfully, with water boiling enough to cook in 18 minutes, and remaining hot for 3 hours, with an animal wrapped in straw successfully cooked and eaten.
Less relevant, the stream away from the fulacht fiadh can sometimes contain frogspawn, and many years ago I recall catching frogs there!

Nice site to visit, remote but really quiet, great views on the landscape around this site. The stone circle is quite small but definately worth a visit.
J.
Nice place to visit, it's really interesting
W. S. (.
I was amazed with this place. Not only do you have beautiful views but also a less visited monument. Great history.
G. R.
Very interesting place, beautiful view and It's FREE!!
M. W.
Pretty cool, seeing where the ancients held church, and cooked thier food. Nothing like being there.
A. M.
Free parking and entrance. Could be crowded. Worth taking a detour on the way to Mizen head.
R. R. O.
Very nice place. Go there and check it on your own
S. K.
Love seeing a non-touristy circle! So fresh and inspiring.
D. L.
We were the only visitors to this small, late bronze age megalithic site with its standing stones, cooking area and remains of living quarters. We could wander freely through the site, which is unattended and reached from the car park by a short walk down a country lane, bordered by fuschias, blackberry bushes and other hedgerows. A pleasant 30 minutes was experienced by us four on a lovely sunny day with rolling hills and the sea as a backdrop.
m. n.
Most complete stone circle, I've come across, so far in ireland
s. h.
Beautiful place. So peaceful. So old. Humbling
K. D.
Amazing Standing stone circle. Get up close and touch the rocks. Imagine what it was like 3000 years ago. Site consists of a Standing stone circle, a Fluacht Fia, and the remains of 2 huts.
Love this place, and usually very quiet. Situated in a beautiful area of West Cork. Be respectful and don't litter! 👍🏻
L. T.
Slightly underwhelming. But it wasn't far out of the way I was going so worth stopping to see.
M. T.
Beautiful peaceful spot. Great drive there also. Love West Cork. See video on youtube under gvm slider #markttv
M. S.
The place is fantastic.
It contains stones circle shows the date of the end of winter.
D. O.
Probably one of the best stone circle examples in Cork and I imagine Ireland. Lovely scenic spot with a spectacular backdrop of sea and farmland. Pretty constant stream of visitors, so may need to wait to get the place to yourself and get the right shots. Worth the wait however. 😁👍
D.
Nice, quiet spot with historical background, beautiful see view. Only few minutes drive from Glandore. Car park available.
D. B.
The ruins of two huts and a fulacht fiadh are also present at the site.
J. C. F.
Well kept all around, very nice and peaceful. Very interesting historical spot. 1100 to 800 B.C.
M. V.
A bit of history for people who interested in that kind a thing! My son who is 8 was not keen to go there but got all excited once he got there..
E. D.
Great for a quick visit. Small car park and then a nice, surrounded by fuschias 3 mins walk to the site. Very important place in the Irish culture. Good and short historical information displayed. I went there in my sandals and managed to step into only few hidden puddles but would recommend better footwear as with worse weather place probably turns into a water trap.
A. W.
Well worth a visit, 4000 years old
P. S.
Small, but worth the de-tour. Very well preserved stone circle, clean site.
M. C.
You can feel the the magnificent
C. S.
Really enjoyed the place! It's a short easy walk from the (small) carpark. The place is mysterious with a unique atmosphere. It's very quiet and in a beautiful setting. The explanations on the signs are very informative and it's incredible to think some people used to live there forever ago. Would definitely recommend!
D. W.
Nice views. Short walk from parking space. Well worth a stop.
É. V.
Amazing site. Breathtaking view.
S. H.
Really pretty place. Stone circle and foundations from Neolithic dwellings. Defiantly worth the stop.
R. G.
Always love coming to glandore such a lovely place .
Drombeg is such a special place
A.
Very fascinating stone circle and other habitation dating back to the bronze age
N. F.
Very well preserved after all these centuries. Great interesting spot
W. P.
Very neat ancient site. Unlike Stonehenge, you can walk through and touch everything.
K. N.
Interesting place in a beautiful setting only a short walk (500Metres) from the car park.
D. P.
Beautiful spot to visit with an air of peace and spirituality
N. O.
Great that it's still free to visit these ancient sites.
D. N.
Beatiful scenery but not that exciting. Great spot for a picnic
A. S.
We we're lucky to arrive when so few were there...magical place, with warm energy flowing/swirling about
E. H.
Amazing piece of history, well worth a spin.
J. D.
Absolutely amazing place. Peaceful location but very close to the car park so only a short walk to the stone circle. A great view of the surrounding areas as well. Can get a little busy though especially towards the end of the day
M. N.
Well worth the trip if you're in the area.
L. S.
We were having doubts when we got there cause it’s hidden somewhere along the small roads. When we were there, there wasn’t a lot of people. So, we parked and walked, found the Stone Circle with a beautiful view. Love every bit of it! Definitely worth visiting!
K. D.
It is a very astonish stone circle that makes curious to hear from history and pay tribute to the nature. Wow.
M. M.
Amazing site. The short walk to it from the park lot is well defined and, though gravel, very easy going. The site has explanatory signs on hand which enhance the experience by adding some knowledge. The views down across the valley are spectacular too. The sky was overcast when we went and that simply added to the mysterious feel of the place. Went in early December and were the only ones there.
P. B.
Historical spot that you don't have to queue for and pay for 👍 remember to be respectful 😉
O. J.
Interesting rock circle, with some information boards describing the purpose. It did take us about 1 hour from West Cork, through some small roads. I probably would NOT do it if there was something else more pressing, only because you can see the whole thing in 15 minutes, and there are other circles around supposedly.
That being said, it was a peaceful place.
D. K.
If you like things that have been around for Circa 3000 years then this is the place for you. Not in a great scale, but none the less significant. People have started leaving tokens in the center of the circle, flowers, stones, shells and even a few coins(you might find the price of a pint there). I suppose if it wasn't for the superstitious, then this may never have been built or remain there to this day.
C. O.
Interesting place. Bronze age, circa 1100BC approx.
D. O.
Lovely well kept place lovely stone circle. great views
Ά. Χ.
Great site. Free parking. No entrance fee. Part of history. Totally recommend!
K. G.
Park in the lot, follow path through steel gate. Follow path to the circle
P. S.
It's a nice insight in the neolithical life that Irish people had back in the day, with a sign explaining the solstice stones and the hearth and cooking setup. There's parking but access to the circle is only through a narrow windy road so drive slowly.
M. M.
This is a beautiful quite spot off the beaten track. The stone circle is a short walk from the car park so it is a very peaceful site. The view over the hills and the ocean are also absolutely beautiful!
D. F.
Mystical place, make sure to read the information signs that describe the history of the stone circle and fullach fiadh.
T. R.
Interesting sight, but nothing spectacular. It's cool to find yourself in an area that was inhabited so long ago. And the signs give you a nice idea of how the area must have looked like. Definitely worth to turn off the road for. Not so much to make a detour for.
R. M.
Great experience with good information signs. A little bit off the main tourist track but worth the detour. Only a 100m walk or so from the carpark to the stone circle and house/well/food storage area. Free.
C. C.
Great for a visit if close by. Very well preserved fulach fiadh too.
A. S.
Famous stone circle in beautiful setting.
M. O.
Nice experience, lovely scenery.
I. R.
Very interesting place. In a beautiful part of the world
E.
An amazing circle with recumbent stone.
a. n.
Fantastic Neolithic site! Peaceful and sacred stone circle.
K. S.
I'm not sure how to rate a stone circle. I like the place
S. s.
OMG! such a powerful place.
B. A.
Well worth a visit for the winter solstice. An impressive site. Don't expect the hippies to have any control over their kids however as they will be too busy burning sage and playing bongos in their drum circles!
J.
Only taking a star away because parking was small and hard to manuever. There was a nice wide, and muddy path to the circle. Path was easy to walk. There are a couple helpful informative signs explaining the ground layout and history.
R. B.
As stated in another review. Do not miss it. Easy short walk up and down a little.
r. e.
You must go to the visitors center in town to purchase tickets, then ride a tour bus back.
J. R.
The parking and access to the area is very good. Relevant historical information can be found on signs next to the site. Truly a magical place, with great views over the surrounding land
A. L.
Stunning location, so quiet and peaceful. And amazing drive just to get to these far flung (not remote) location.
M. F. M.
It's a place you take visitors when they come to visit West Cork, bring wellies if it's raining as no soakage in the ground, car park available..Enjoy!
E. K.
Beautiful historical site
B. D.
It's an interesting and well kept historical site.
Ú. K.
A nice place to stop.
S. F.
A interesting look back in time, this stone circle is very well preserved, and resides on meticulously maintained grounds. The site is small, but offers informational placards, and provides glorious views of the West Cork countryside, all the way to the southern coast and Atlantic ocean.
B. K.
Stop by if you're in the area. Here, people put these stones up and served food to visitor 2,000 years ago, and it's a remarkable place to visit now. There's no boiled meat served here today, but the nearby restaurants will do a lot better!
M. D.
Of all the stone circles I've seen, this was definitely the best. The stones were very stony and the circle was very circular. Not like those stone circles that claim to be a circle but end up being more of an oval. The cooking area was quite marvelous. I highly recommend this stone circle.
S.
Calm and beautiful place. Also for walk around and breath it energy, which is a quite diferent from other places in Ireland.
C. W.
Such a lovely place, worthy of more exposure & promotion.
C. K.
Drumbeg is a large stone circle orientated to the winter solstice when the setting sun is swallowed in a V between 2 hills. Also on site is a Fulacht Fia and an ancient round house
A. S.
calm place, partner loves it for meditation and centering himself.
T. K.
Very silent. Nice views.
J. D.
Plenty to see here and around the area

Absolutely amazing place. Peaceful location but very close to the car park so only a short walk to the stone circle. A great view of the surrounding areas as well. Can get a little busy though especially towards the end of the day
L. G.
Great sense of history. Informative boards. Great views.
O. L.
Great spot!
O. J.
Interesting rock circle, with some information boards describing the purpose. It did take us about 1 hour from West Cork, through some small roads. I probably would NOT do it if there was something else more pressing, only because you can …

It was lovely to visit such an ancient place..weather was beautiful.t g..area very well kept ..

Well worth the stop. Bring camera. Short walk from car parking area.

Well worth the detour!
M. M.
Amazing site. The short walk to it from the park lot is well defined and, though gravel, very easy going. The site has explanatory signs on hand which enhance the experience by adding some knowledge. The views down across the valley are …
D. O.
It's in a field, in the middle of nowhere. Still, worth the trip if you're in the area. Make sure to read the signs around the structures. Bring wellies, the field gets quite saturated in the rain.
I. C.
Amazing how old and well preserved. Good parking. Easy access. Good historical info at the site. Not crowded on Wed. morning in June.
S. C.
It was lovely to visit such an ancient place..weather was beautiful.t g..area very well kept ..
L. G.
Small walk, nice view!
S. B.
Drombeg is probably Irelands most famous stone circle, important place for Irish and Celt culture. Not as spectacular and high as Stonehenge (the highest stones are about 2 meters). There are Stone huts and cooking pit right next to it.
K. N.
Beautiful, pretty big and the surrounding area is also very beautiful. Easy to understand why the ancient irish chose that place to build the circle
E. P.
If you're in the area it's well worth a visit. It's a stunning landscape and is truly magical
I. C.
Fine prehistoric place
A. L.
Loved it. A bit of a detour to get there at the moment. It will be great when the road is fixed.
K. R.
Well preserved Stone Circle, Fulacht Fia and Hut Site. 17 standing stones orientated for the winter solstice. The Fulacht Fia was an ancient pool designed for cooking food in water. 300 litres could of water could be boiled in 18 minutes using heated stones rolled into the water, then meat cooked in it.
H. P.
Beautiful bronze age adventure.
T. W.
Excellent, we worth a visit
J. S.
Beautiful, majestic place. Not a far walk from parking area. Great views and really awesome energy here.
M. S.
Great International renowned stones. Poor parking with hight barrier and who ever built the bungalow to in line with sun rise should be ashamed.
J. K.
Nice to see. But not amazing. If you are passing, may as well stop in and have a look. Only a short walk from the car park.
B. L.
Nice and quiet place, it probably has a great view, but it was very foggy. On the other hand that did give this place a very mysterious atmosphere.
G. K.
Genuine iron age stone circle, not crowded. Not nearly as big as Stone Henge, but much better experience.
G. P.
I felt the history of human kind here. Not for everyone. No bathrooms, so go before you take the pilgrimage to the past
A. D.
A unique place, especially during the solstice. Car park not too far away, but no public toilets.
C. H.
Great place to visit when nearby. Bring some lunch and take in the awesome, peaceful atmosphere in this historic site.
L. F.
Good energies in a beautiful spot. Peaceful.m
N. M.
Beautiful. If you're nearby, just go and look. Lovely view....
G. M.
Drombeg Stone circle should be seen by everyone. It is a wonderful prehistoric site --the huge stones were aligned perfectly ( by our pagan or druidic ancestors ) to capture the setting sun in an angle of the distant ridge, and there is a special hollow among stones which was probably a "fulacht fia"a ground cooking hollow. There is also a flat stone tablemaybe an altar, or maybe a space for laying out primitive astronomical instruments. You are transported in imagination back hundreds of thousands of years.
K. H.
Well worth the stop. Bring camera. Short walk from car parking area.
I. B.
Amazing place that you can visit for free. Would cost you a tenner in the UK. Spent an hour there and had the place practically to myself. Awesome.
E. F.
More secluded and quiet than most stone circles and so it worth visiting if you appreciate that sort of thing.
S. D.
Out of the way place but ancient and interesting. Views in the area are lovely
Bring a lunch and stay a while.
J. D.
Plenty to see here and around the area
P. y.
Not the best one you can see in Ireland but it was big. If you are nearby it is worth to see it but don't change your route for only this attraction.
H. H.
Interesting history off a small country road
A. G.
Unmanned site. Information board at entrance. Kept very well.
B. P.
You may get attacked by dogs left in the road who pop your tyre but the view is totally worth it and the circle is pretty cool.
J. H. J.
The road to this stone circle is tough to find and worth finding. The site is amazing and the view breath taking.
M. L.
Ancient stone circle as well as well as a fulacht fiadh a bit further up the hill. Useful information signs available on-site.
P. C.
Very small road to get there. Gives you a good impression how Stone age should have looked like.
D. M.
Easy to drive to and no problem to walk around the area, with amazing, beautiful views as well.
D. S.
A true Gem in West Cork. Very peaceful and a beautiful view of the countryside and west Cork coastline. The Stone circle is in s beautiful location.
D. M.
Great area. Quiet and secluded. So much nicer than trying to get to Stonehenge
J. L.
Easy to access ancient site - plenty of signs and trail is clearly marked. Beautiful landscape.
C. K.
Stunning views from this historical location
P. O.
Lovely historical site
I. M.
Beautiful place, but it isn't that simple to go there by bus!
S. M. K. (.
Nice little stone circle, not very crowded. Just a short wark from the parking area.
m. p.
Unique way to heat water by early humans! Heating large stones in a fire and then placing them in a natural stone tub!
P. D. G.
Well worth a visit
E. C.
Beautiful place. The drive there is a bit tight and frightful at times but totally worth it.
M. C.
Well worth a visit.. it's a beautiful spot..
J. R.
Wonderful location. Impressive circle, with remains of an ancient home. A must see for anyone with a feeling for history.
m. c.
No words .experience is your only master .
S. T.
Another really old site in Ireland. Limited parking and really quick stop. The landscape is fantastic.
B. R.
Fantastic hidden gem
K. S.
Easily accessible with ample parking space
S. S.
Amazing and mystical. Out of the way and far from touristy rubbish and crowds. Honored to have stood among them stones.
T. C. 1.
Access, poor, only suitable to motorist,so tourist rarely sighted here,no w/c facilities, but the site very good
N. S.
Well laid out, and access route clearly marked, but not much parking
S. G.
Not so impressive stone circle.
M. K. (.
Interesting history about the drombeg stone circle in Glandore. There you get also information how they used the Drombeg for their ceremony.
B. Z.
Fascinating historical find. Resourceful people learned this method of survival during the bronze age
P. D.
Interesting place - I'd never seen a bronze age slow cooker before!
U.
Special place...location is soectacular. Atmospheric , almost an early amphitheatre .it will literally inspire awe
A. R.
Very nice stone circle and site with superb landscape and view of the sea.
A. T.
Awesome you can get in and touch the stones. Small car park can get busy.
נ. ד.

(Translated) A small but very fine stone circle, a bit out of the way and only accessible via one of these typical Irish single-lane country roads. Beautifully situated with a great view of a green valley and the lake behind it. If you are in the area you should definitely drive by. And don't forget to bring something to leave in the center of the stone circle - something that has a personal touch.
(Original)

(Translated) The place is amazing, a perfect circle in the middle of a super secluded and green place. If you manage to arrive and no one is there, it is very mystical. If you are in the area it is a good stop.

(Translated) One of the oldest places on earth with magic stones. As the description goes, this is the opening place of two parallel worlds 😉🤗 Arriving for the first time in my life I discovered that stones are warm when it is winter outside, it feels like they are alive !!! Time flies by and the feeling of nirvana, calmness and complete harmony with the world, nature! The magnificent view around, complete silence and only birds sometimes flying, create a feeling of care, as if specifying whether something else is needed ?! 😉🤗 I strongly recommend that all lovers of idyll, harmony, silence and tranquility visit this magical place, you will never regret it and wherever you are, you will always remember it with warmth in your soul and beautiful views !!! Thanks to nature and people for creating such a place! 🙏🙏🙏👌🤗💞

(Translated) Very beautiful and quiet stone circle in the middle of extensive meadows. Also very good to visit in the evening, but then the path becomes very dark as there is no lighting.
(Original)

(Translated) Small excursion destination. One has explored the Circle quickly but can make a small review of the history of the place. Nice was the few people were there and the place was not crowded. The road is very narrow.
(Original)
Kleiner Ausflugsort.

(Translated) After a short drive from the beautiful Glandore, situated on the Atlantic Ocean, you can reach a free parking lot via a narrow street, from which you have a few steps to the stone circle.
At the stone circle you have a great view over the surroundings. The complex itself is tranquil, but definitely recommendable!
The historical aspect is not negligible, considering that the stone circle should be 2500 years or even older.
(Original)
R. K.
(Translated) Due to the Navis we were led on a narrow way. That's why we thought we could not be on the right track to get there. At some point we reached a place with only a few parking spaces. From there it was about 5-10 minutes walk. As can already be seen from the pictures, the ultimately minimal effort was definitely worth it. Especially since both parking and access is free and possible at any time.
(Original)
B. P.
(Translated) Rather nice little stone circle. It is accessed by a parking lot for ten cars and a path. The space around the circle of stones to picnic, everything is quite sober and nice. Be careful on a narrow track to get there by car, it's a nice stopover going up the hill
(Original)

(Translated) The entrance to the site which is not manned by a guardian is very spartan. To access, you have to climb over the fence through a special passage. Overall with its own charm
(Original)

(Translated) Historic site very nice, with some explanations, access by a narrow road, with a small parking not too far. (very nice especially if it is the first that we see, because it is well preserved and not as popular as other more well known)
However for me, this site is only to do if it's on your way, especially if it's raining.

(Translated) This imposing 9'5m diameter megalithic circle is located near Clonakilty. It consists of 17 menhirs dating from 150 BC. and its main characteristic is that, at the winter solstice, the rays of the Sun hit the altar directly (a large smooth block in front of the door, marked by two upright blocks). A few meters away, there is a stone age fireplace in which water was boiled to grill meat. The whole set exudes a very particular and intense atmosphere, difficult to describe in words.
Free parking, from where you have to walk about 150m to the megalithic complex.
