Had a fabulous bed, breakfast and evening meal at waterford Castle. A truly fabulous experience. Room, staff food was top class. Could not fault any aspect. A real haven of tranquility for a special treat or occasion. Top marks.

We just popped in for coffee and scones after a lovely walk on the island. It wasn't our first visit, so the reception area we sat in wasn't a surprise, it was a delight though! A blazing fire in a huge hearth was very welcome after our wet walk. The whole room was beautifully and tastefully decorated for Christmas, with a massive tree, and geogeous lights. We'll worth the ferry trip across the river.

Have had afternoon tea here twice and it is excellent. Everything was homemade and fresh. It's not the nicest scone I've ever had, maybe a bit dense and the cream was over whipped (although supposed to be clotted...didn't seem like it) but other desserts made up for it. We've had afternoon tea in a few other hotels and this is definitely the best we've had. The sandwiches were very inventive and delicious and the desserts were so interesting and fresh

The attention and location were spectacular. The restaurant service and fresh food were delightful! Valentina our server was attentive and knowledgeable.
We will definitely recommend the castle for a romantic stay.

I booked the afternoon tea as a treat for my sister and niece as we hadn't seen each other for nearly two years because of covid.
The castle and grounds were beautiful. We were seated in the conservatory with lovely views to the gardens.
Service was quick once we were seated but then we were left for a long period before anyone returned. Actually we had to go find a waitress to ask for more tea!
For a 4 star hotel, I was very disappointed with the service and the actual afternoon tea. We were served cream which was sour with the scones and were not offered extra scones!
I would not recommend the afternoon tea and would not return there!

My husband and I held our wedding here and we came back once COVID restrictions lifted to stay here again.
The rooms are comfortable and the staff very friendly and attentive. If you stay here I definitely recommend having a dinner in their fine dining restaurant at least once. It is a rotating menu and the chef is creative in his dishes. They also use all local produce (fish caught fresh in Waterford).
We are not golfers so I cannot speak for the golfing range. However, there are plenty of beautiful nature woodland walks surrounding the castle.
For a luxury hotel.experience in southeast Ireland, this place is my go-to and I definitely recommend it for others.

My husband and I stayed in the castle at the weekend. A beautiful setting and an amazing place to stay. We stayed in the Wedgewood suite and it was so clean, comfortable and peaceful. Early in the morning I watched the deer roaming, an
amazing sight. The food was perfect and the background music brought you back in time. Just perfect for a castle. Would recommend to anyone looking for a special experience.

Lovely setting with lovely scenery and walkway.the castle has a lovely atmosphere which is spotless and with fantastic lodge's. The only downside was i was disappointed with bar staff at golf club, other than that well recommended

Had a lovely time. I was treated to 2 nights in one of the Lodges for my 70th birthday. We had dinner in the Castle dining room for my birthday and the waiters were really great - they didn't know it was a special occasion when we arrived, when they realised they brought a plate of petit fours with a candle and sang Happy Birthday. The atmosphere was very friendly and we had a lovely evening.

We stayed in a lodge for yesterday's wedding. Unbelievable venue, service and food. Spotless accommodation. Hazel is an asset to your team. She delivered amazing service in the bar,all day and is still smiling at breakfast!
S. B.
Had afternoon tea here. Its a beautiful hotel. Unfortunately I requested no cream but this request wasn't met. When I paid and raised it with them, I was told I should have requested it at time of booking. I told him I did and he said oh I've just started my shift, I don't know whats going on.
I'd expect a lot higher standards from a hotel of this type.
J. C.
Superb location ,the short ferry trip adds to the experience. Castle in good condition offers a friendly welcome.Golf course is well laid out with some excellent holes. After Golf food and service was a pleasant experience. Will return again in the near future.

Definatly a four star hotel with five star staff. Everyone was very helpfull. We ate dinner in the restaurant which was lovely, and they catered to me be a vegan. A special mention to the dessert chef who is definitely putting in the thought for vegan options.
I'm only deducting a star due to the fact that I did ask that they write happy birthday on my boyfriends dessert plate and was told this would be no problem l, but was let down when this never happened.

Stayed at the castle for a wedding and everything was perfection! The staff make you feel so special and well taken care of. The food is incredible. And the location is an oasis of nature.

A beautiful hotel with a lot history. Peaceful area, nice for little walks.
I visited here for a bit and I enjoyed it. Well maintained hotel, and staffs are friendly too. Free ferry to the island.

Extortionate prices on drinks.
€10 for a small glass of wine.
Bring your own I would advise.

My new wife and I came to Waterford Castle on the days immediately following our wedding. (Both around 30 years old, unlike our fellow guests, although that's just fine, they just looked at us with endearing eyes.)
We flew from Florida, to New York and from New York, to Florida. Waterford Castle was a welcome respite from our journey. As we drove up in our Turbodiesel BMW (Rental of course) we both immediately knew that this particular estate was the honeymoon of our dreams. We were upgraded to the "Rose Suite", which served as a perfect example of the Castle's potential.
The walking trails are exquisite, the air smells of fresh cut grass and sugar, the oaks tower mightily and proud. It really resembles something inspired by JRR Tolkien. The food was fabulous, roasted pork bellies, breakfast in the conservatory, delicious cocktails in the gatsby-esque lounge. All this to be followed by golf on one of the finest courses I've ever laid eyes on.
Spend your money here and reap the pleasures of Waterford Castle.
D. O.
Very impressive building and grounds, staff very helpful particularly for me Declan in the bar.
Disappointed that there were no covid checks, particularly at wedding dinner, 70 people with no social distancing in one room!!!!
R.
It's a lovely castle hotel ideal for a relaxing stay or a wedding. They even cater to elopement weddings. The grounds are reasonably sized for photography.
F. M.
Always a pleasure to visit Waterford Castle and be treated very well by everyone there. Food is always excellent and when asked they'll always make special arrangements for kids.

We had a fantastic family weekend, to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary. The staff were so friendly & helpful, from finding a solution for keeping champagne chilled on our bike ride, to driving one of our party to hospital at midnight (thankfully nothing serious, but we’ll always remember Philippa’s Florence Nightingale skills!), nothing was too much trouble & always with a smile.
Food in the restaurant for breakfast & dinner was really good, the best of Irish produce on display & some lovely witty, creative touches especially at dinner - we loved the carrot amuse buche!
Thank you all, so wonderful to see such a strong team performance after a long lockdown 👏👏👏
T. B.
Absolutely stunning place very private and kid friendly with playgrounds anf soccer pitch and footgolf and the staff were first class couldn't do enough for us it also has a beautiful walk around it
J. A.
The golf course is in a very nice setting however the direion indicators from green to tee are sadly lacking. Found it quite difficult to navigate around the course. Service in the restaurant / snack was alright.
R. H.
This place is absolutely beautiful and the food is amazing . We stayed in the lodges and they are spacious and we'll equipped .
J. C.
Our 1st time there it was amazing and the walk if fun. An amazing day out will visit again , we loved it
M. C.
What a fab place. Like goi going abroad, on Ferry, esp after nearly 2 years of lockdown. Restaurant staff so cheery, happy to serve. Restaurant food top notch
J. F.
Excellent accommodation and food. Spacious carparking, golf course, and leasure walking. Efficient staff.
J. L.
Went last autumn - lovely place with amazing afternoon tea!!
H. S.
Great days golf, course in great nick considering recent wet weather, friendly staff, great food, great facilities a d surroundings
P. M.
The hotel is on an actual island. Access via a short ferry ride. The grounds are nice for a walk. The hotel has a very nice bar and plenty of historical interest
A. D.
Smoke smells in the room all night from central fireplace in the lobby, intoxicating tbh. Given discount on complaint. Food only ok. Room decor and furniture dated and in need of upgrade urgently! Setting is beautiful and castle itself is lovely. Needs TV in the bar! Staff excellent and friendly though and can't do enough for you.
R. B.
The afternoon tea is incredible couldn’t recommend enough probably the nicest i’ve ever had and the staff were also very kind and welcoming
A. O. C.
Ideally located Golf course in beautiful surroundings providing a true but fair test .
Would have liked to buy some merchandise in the shop but food was excellent.
N. R.
What a wonderful oasis. No wonder it is so busy, yet peaceful. A must visit. Niall

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of getting married in the beautiful surroundings of Waterford Castle. While planning a wedding in 2020, was a challenge, Gillian and her team made the whole process so easy for us. As a result, when the wedding day came around, Richard and I had the most relaxed, enjoyable and completely unforgettable experience. We absolutely loved working with Gillian. Throughout the whole planning process she was just fantastic. We knew from our first meeting with Gillian that we were in safe hands and Richard and I are just so grateful for all the hard work she put in to making our day so special.
I can't mention Gillian and her hard work without acknowledging her fabulous team. Every member of the team that was working the day before the wedding, on the wedding day and even the day after could not have been nicer not only to Richard and I but also to every single one of our guests. They worked so hard to make sure everyone had the most relaxed and enjoyable day possible. Their attention to detail and focus on making sure every guest had the best possible experience did not go unnoticed and was much appreciated.
While the staff at the Castle really made the day for us, the stunning venue and the fabulous food can not go unrecognised. All of our guests were just so happy and comfortable in the really homely surrounds of the Castle, that combined with the delicious food, made for some very happy wedding guests.
C. A.
Stunning building in a stunning setting, great for a special gat away, the staff are very diligent and always ready to assist, the breakfast was fantastic, and the cocktail menu was excellent, Myself and my Partner stayed here on a very hot day, so the lack of Air Con was rough, but not surprising due to the nature of the building.
G. L.
Beautiful setting, most tranquil course I've ever played that has some super holes
j. c.
Just spent a night in waterford castle with my sisters - such a lovely spot
S. M.
Great place we stayed in the lodges and theres loads of deer that are used to humans and come close enough and if you ever go thr clubhouse for dinner he the beef short rib it is to die for
W. D.
Weekend stay in one of the 48 lodges. 5 of us but would easily and comfortably sleep 8. Nice modern interior, great bathrooms and bedrooms. Kitchen well laid out and great for large gatherings. Beautiful setting on the side of a lovely golf course, surrounded by woodland and water. Golf club restaurant good, small menu but great standard and reasonable too. Could do with a more atmospheric bar facility. The club house lacks personality and you wouldn’t want to spend the evening there. If the castle has a function on its closed to other island guests and there is nowhere else to go other than the golf club. You can leave the island but that involves driving. Castle facility pricey but well worth it for the experience. 5k walk around the island is superb, soft underfoot so more for the active people.
J. K.
I havn't stayed at the castle, but I have played the course and it's magnificent.
C. L.
Once in lifetime experience that everyone should enjoy at least once in their life
C. O. R.
Where do I start. It's hard because everything about this two day stay was amazing. From the ferry accross to the island to the room to all the staff who where very professional and friendly even with all the covid 19 restrictions. We still felt so relaxed and the food was unbelievable! The surrounding grounds are beautiful. If I wanted to find any faults I would have to very picky almost to hotel inspector level that's how amazing this stay was. The main highlights were the afternoon tea, seeing the deer in the evening after our meal. The dinning room where we ate dinner each evening was amazing and most important was the consistency of service from the staff. Everyone was very friendly and professional. I would easily come back again.
s. k.
Brilliant spot to retreat to for a weekend. Only two hours from Dublin, and as well as the island itself, you’re not far from Dunmore East or Tramore for a beach day.
Brilliant golf course if you’re interested, and fair green fees. The castle atmosphere is wonderful, and the lodges we stayed in are new, affordable and dog friendly which was a big help.
Only let down was dinner we had in the bar. Food was below average and over priced, but the rating is rescued by a great breakfast and super staff.

Had the pleasure of staying here in July for a family holiday. Two adults 2 kids had a fantastic break here. Firstly the self catering lodges have everything you could need, it truly is home from home experience. The lodges are spacious, & all appliances are best quality. We went exploring around the grounds & there was lots of fun exploring the land. The hotel is gorgeous ,like stepping back in time. It's very well kept & screams grandeur.
It's a beautiful setting for a wedding if anyone was considering it as a venue.
We had food in golf house a few times & it was lovely nice & relaxing.
The staff are lovely & friendly & helpful I truly can't fault the place. And kids loved getting the ferry across anytime we left.
We hope to return next year for another chilled family holiday. Plenty to do in Waterford to & surrounding counties
H. J.
This is our second time here and we still absolutely love it. The staff are lovely, the atmosphere is calm and relaxing and the location is idyllic.
P. “. W.
Love castle fell like a king or Queen on it. It is surrounded by water and also you get the ferry over to it. That's a bonus for the kids on board.

We recently had our wedding at the castle and I must say, it was a fairytale wedding. Grand fireplace meets you upon entering this castle, the rooms are nothing short of amazing. We booked the presidential suite and it was absolutely breathtaking, such a large room. Actually three rooms, formal living room, large bathroom (two separate sinks), large bedroom. The staff at the castle are just so polite and helpful in every way. If detail is what you are looking for Waterford Castle will not disappoint. The staff is skilled in the hospitality business, the bar is amazing and can make craft cocktails. The five course dinner was so delicious, the aged steak cooked to perfection. Breakfast was extraordinary especially when eating in the conservatory. I am just so baffled how such a large place is kept in such great condition, truly must be magic.
S. D.
Service and attention to detail simply top class! Perfect.
K. E.
We felt like we were in a fairytale! Everything was amazing and no detail was left unturned. The rooms were extremely comfortable and spacious. The bathroom was the size of my bedroom at home. The dinner the first night set the stage for an unbelievable experience. The breakfast was delicious. The staff were very accommodating and their attention to detail was amazing. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. Our walk around the lake offered access to wildlife including 8 or more swans and a few deer. It was by far the best place we stayed in Ireland.

This has to be one of the best hotels i have stayed in, in Ireland - setting location and service is second to none. Treated like a lord when there with great golf course and other facilities just to chill and take it easy. The lady in charge of breakfast was so efficient and nothing was a bother to her or the staff. Will stay again ...
J. M.
Great food great staff beautiful grounds didn't want to leave 💚
A. R.
We stayed in the lodge at one of the self serving apartments. Lovely spacious apartment with comfortable beds and all the necessities for a weekend away. We were a group of mature couples staying in conjunction with a wedding. Very handy with a hair dryer for the ladies and a iron for the men’s shirts. Cozy and warm. Felt secure and safe. Clean. Parking on the doorstep. Courteous with a late check out after a late night with the wedding.
Beautiful surroundings. Loved the novelty of taking the ferry over to the Island - Very flexible and runs all night long.
One of the best places we have stayed in Ireland. Highly recommended :)
D. A.
Castle was absolutely stunning. Island was cute, very green. Room was nice, bathroom was great. Loved the clawfoot tub. Breakfast and dinner were extremely expensive. We got breakfast included in our stay (paid extra) but that only got us some pastries, fruit and lunch meat. It was €26 per person for hot food like eggs. Dinner was €68 per person... Had dinner at the golf club and that was great. Kids were running up and down the halls at 1am, trying to get into our room. Had a nice bath, tub was roomy. Nice amenities in room. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall, pleasant experience. Would definitely stay again.
M. W.
We had a big group (11) stay in two of the lodges for a night recently and it was great. The lodges are large and comfortable with all the amenities you could want. The staff at reception were so helpful and organised taxis for us. Being on an island was a novelty that didn't wear off!
E. b.
We stayed in one of lodges and it was perfect, big, spacious and fully equipped. A very comfortable stay. All the staff were lovely and the kids had brilliant fun on the driving range. The island itself is a very calm and relaxing spot while being close to Waterford city.
N. S.
Spectacular accommodation.
Beautiful staff at your beck and call.
K. B.
Beautiful setting. The rooms and villas are high quality and the scenery is lovely. We attended for a wedding so cant comment on the quality of restaurant food. The wedding food was good but they were very slow and reticent about bringing out snacks pre meal.
G. C.
Waterford castle island hotel was hands down the highest standard of stay I have had in Ireland.
From the people at Reception, Grounds staff to the Ferryman and security every member of staff work to make you feel welcome.
The lodges are fantastic. You want for nothing, Warm and cosy with an excellent kitchen and every bedroom has its own bathroom.
They easily accommodate six people.
The castle is beautiful night and day. The golf club and driving range is very affordable and fun for kids and adults alike.
I was entertaining people from abroad and simply couldn't have chosen a better location.
They were blown away by the quality.
I will be actively looking for any excuse to return as soon as I can.
T. M.
Absolutely fabulous dinner experience, superb food, great service and a magical evening. Looking forward to going back already!
G. B.
We stayed in the Lodge back in April and absolutely loved it! It’s clean and spacious and the setting is beautiful. We also saw quite a bit of wildlife here. Unfortunately, the entire castle was booked for a wedding, so we couldn’t stay there. But, after the wedding we asked to see a typical room and they were absolutely charming! The wedding party was from Texas, and nice people that they were, obliged us by taking a few photos of us.
J. M.
Wonderful food, pancakes were amazing, and the breakfast room with all the windows is beautiful. No air conditioning. Nice Island to walk around the grounds. Grab water before going on the golf course. Buffet at the golf course is good. Great staff. Narrow road from town, easy to miss. Castle is well kept. Well worth the stay in a Castle if that is part of your holiday wish. Very cute complimentary soap and shampoo. Love that they use glass bottled water and no plastic.
L.
Anyone giving less than 4 star for this unique hotel castle have serious mental issues.
I had my wedding here recently and everyone said it was the best wedding they have ever been too.
Each overseas guest from Australia and USA loved there castle room for the night, and loved the lodges for the remaining week.
Everything in the castle is so clean, so private and elegant.
The food was world class at my wedding, both dinner and breakfast (the best I’ve had). Coming from Sydney, I definitely know what world class food is like.
The lodges rented for the week was perfect, great place for everyone to meet up and mingle.
Great staff, great service, great area.
The island makes it feel secure and the local wildlife including deer makes it super special.
If your a golfer, I’m sure u won’t be disappointed.
Honestly, very happy about the outcome of our stay.
I would definitely come back and definitely come back to Waterford.
Love this town.
T. C.
Very welcome and what a beautiful golf course
A. M.
Really really enjoyed my stay here. From the moment we caught the ferry to the island, the stay was just chilled. Went for a few wanders about and spotted deer, lots of birds, butterflies etc. The self-catering cottages were to a high standard. Definitely recommended.
S. T.
Loved the place, food and service..defo will be back for some more..great venue for the wedding.. perfect location for a family weekend away..and escape from the city buzz..😍
L. S.
We really enjoyed our spectacular stay at the Castle/hotel. The staff is a team, everyone is their to please each and every quest. The dinner was amazing. We did not leave the premises. Read a book, play a round of golf, play a game of chess. Just lovely!!
S. M.
Absolutely beautiful, we got a ferry boat across to the hotel. As soon as you walk into the castle their is a lovely aroma from The log fire. Very quaint surroundings. We had lunch in the lenister room. Food was fab.
K. H.
Why was it excellent? From the moment the castle hits your eyes you can’t help but be impressed. And I’ve seen the castle hundreds of times and it never fails to impress me. Btw I’ve no connections in the castle and I have no interest in making false claims on their behalf. I do believe in credit when it’s due. I’ve eaten there over the years and I went back 2 years ago in 2017 and the welcome like the food was very agreeable. The staff are friendly and professional, the service top notch and the atmosphere as you’d imagine is grandiose yet retains a romantic ambiance. Anyone who takes on a challenge like running such a venue deserves a raised hat! Bravo one and all!
W. t. c.
A beautiful island with plenty to see and do. We Stayed here with friends and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Played football golf which was something different and great fun! Highly recommend if looking a break from busy city life!
C. M.
Fantastic golf course and superb value on the Thursday and a voucher for food also very friendly staff must admit had a great day
R. L.
A beautiful setting for an afternoon tea or walk around the grounds. The entrance opens directly into the Great Hall, still featuring a massive open hearth. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. We booked afternoon tea as a surprise for our friend's 30th and the staff put out a wonderful spread. We couldn't even finish it as there was no shortage of food. We also stayed in one of the self catering lodges and it was perfect. There was loads of space, everything was clean and well looked after. The lodge has all modern conviences, with parking to the front. There is a complimentary ferry to get you onto the island which runs all day. Truly a lovely experience.
P. E.
Amazing.... One of my favourite places in the world. Accommodation and food in Castle is expensive but worth it. It's a top clasd castle on a small island so what do you expect. Staff fantastic. Tip... Stay in lodges as you can accommodate 6 comfortably and dine in City or Golf cafe also
r. r.
This place is the most welcoming resort that we have ever stayed at. The staff was always ready to accommodate whatever needs we had. The main restaurant was closed during our stay but the bar was open and served amazing bar food. I would highly recommend the Waterford Castle to anyone looking for the best that Ireland has to offer.
N. M.
Was here for a wedding and nothing went umissed!. Beautiful grounds and breath taking scenery. Staff are more than helpful. Warm atmosphere inside with glorious fire. Grounds are surrounded by lovely golf course and range for those enthused. Lodge houses available if in large groups or fully booked castle.worth a visit
M. S.
My family and I along with my in laws stay here atleast twice, three times if were lucky, a year. We love it, it's so relaxing staying in the lodges. Very close to ardkeen shops, Tesco and all major roads to tramore, dunmore east etc.... Island is home to a lovely herd of deer also.
M. D.
We had dinner in the castle the evening we arrived and it was a lovely 7-course formal dining experience. Then we stayed in the lodge, which was 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, kitchen, dining, and living room. Everything was provided and in too shape. Extremely good experience. One thing I missed when reserving the room was that you must take a ferry to the castle island. It runs every 15 minutes during the day so it's not a problem, but worth knowing in advance.
H. G.
Love, love, love this place!! Just spent two weeks driving all over England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland, stayed in eight different hotels during my 1500 miles of driving, and this place was by far my favorite place to stay. Gorgeous island, beautiful castle, elaborate rooms, fantastic five course meal, and a lovely bar.
P. H.
Eire at it's best. Outstanding service, room, dining impeccable staff and the beauty is so Erin go bragh🍀🥇🏆
C. B.
We stayed in one of the lodges and it was amazing! So spacious and and clean. We really enjoyed our stay and the castle and scenery were gorgeous. Highly recommend and the little boat trip accress was an experience. The boats run all night and its very handy to use
E. M.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The castle is beautiful and the surroundings are lovely. It all made for a very relaxing get away. Didn't get to play golf this trip but will definitely be back soon.
O. R.
Great setting, comfortable houses, but castle was not open on the 3 times we stayed, the other food options are the golf cafe which was also privately booked twice, I was without a car during the day so quite stuck as there is no mini market to buy food either. Improve the food options for self catering.no where to wait after check out, needs a cafe /play area indoors etc
E. K.
Beautiful location for a wedding. Stunning surroundings for a quaint And intimate gathering. The boat across gave added charm to feeling like having the island to yourself. Stayed in the chalets which are lovely but Bring cash and food before getting boat over as there's no shop on island.
P. O.
Loved the accommodations! The Castle was closed for a wedding- while we were disappointed to miss that opportunity, we were offered a guest house on the property- such a great place- private and luxurious (just make sure to shop for necessities, as it's more of a vacation home and not a fully serviced room). Would love to visit again!
Y. K.
From check in to check out, the staff was helpful and friendly. They made sure we didn't lift a finger for anything. The service in the bar and the restaurant was beyond compare. The food was excellent. The Wedgewood Suite was amazing and comfortable with a gorgeous view of the grounds and the lake. The wildlife was breathtaking. I could go on and on about how magnificent the castle is, but you really have to see it for yourself!
H. A.
This was our second visit to Waterford Castle we went back on the back of her initial visit in September as it was so good.
We stayed in the lodges by the golf course.
Lodges with excellent and exactly what we were looking for self-catering self-contained houses 3 bedrooms with full facilities.
Very clean price was very reasonable as we book so far ahead in advance and off season prices do vary depending on time of year that you look to go so check online and check with staff if you are concerned at all regarding price.
Either way we love going there the ferry over to the island is always very exciting and always an attraction for our children.
G. v. D.
Lovely castle and a great venue for our friends wedding. Rooms are luxurious and well equipped. The island has a great walking track for those wanting a bit of exercise, and a golf course(which we didn't use)
E. R.
Superb location, really unique.
The Castle itself is fantastic, but if you're visiting with large groups I must also recommend the lodges. Very modern, beautifully finished.
K.
A beautiful castle on an island in Ireland! The impressive front facade is the first sight to greet visitors as they drive up. Inside the reception hall, there is an enormous fireplace with couches and chairs to lounge upon. The dining room and bar are conveniently located on the first floor, as well. The room we stayed in (The Glin Room) is large and comfortable, with a great view of the grounds.
I highly recommend this unique experience to anyone traveling in Ireland!
H. ح. ا. A. S.
Beautiful place. We booked one of the lodges which was very spacious and clean. The surroundings are beautiful. Would love to go back.
R. F.
Excellent place to visit. We were a group of 6 families who visited last week. The lodges are amazing, golf course is tough and the food was top class. Will be back.
M. D.
We enjoyed every minute of our stay at the Castle! The grounds are beautiful. The staff is quite helpful. Be sure to make a reservation for dinner prior to arriving. If you have time, be sure to schedule a falconry session with Hawkeye Falconry. You will learn a great deal about the birds and how they hunt. You will also call the birds to land on your arm!
J. T.
Wonderful place to stay! If you looking for a low key evening, then this is the place. Located on an island, with dinner options on two locations: inside the castle or at the bar on the golf course. We stayed in a ""lodge" which was great for three couples or a family. It was just the two of us so we had PLENTY of room.
V. L.
One of the most amazing experiences of my life. Beautiful inside, and out. Do not pass up the dinner in the Munster Room. Spendy, but worth every penny. Very comfortable room.
The staff were very welcoming. Grand experience.
C. O.
Dropped in for a coffee. Very well presented spotlessly clean with very relaxed and friendly staff.
Free ferry onto the Island. If you have time to spare you could do a lot worse than to drop over for a coffee and a stroll around. Should be a nice place to stay over.
M. T.
Waterford Castle Hotel is a must visit when going to Waterford. There is a car ferry that goes every 15 mins before 10pm I believe and every 30 mins after that. It’s a very old classic look with with great atmosphere and loads of activities to do.
H. F.
The food in the golf club wasnt great and there was a smell of vomit in our lodge throughout or stay, however everything else was nice
F. J.
I was here for a wedding and all was very nice.
I took an exploratory stroll in the area around the castle and that was wonderful; deer, plants, the Suir and a whole load of interesting other things to see.
I lived five years in Waterford and never explored this place when I was living there. There was always a sense that it was a private island and the public were not welcome. On the day I was there for the wedding I got the impression that staff had been called in for the wedding but the place was otherwise closed. The castle was soulless. That was 2014 so I am not sure how things are now
L. W.
Very private, need to take a ferry to the island, excellent golf course and club house, hotel also on the island
K. S.
Fantastic place for a weekend with family.Their lodges are just perfect each room.has it's own bathroom you can have 3 couples in the some house that will share huge living room with fully equipped kitchen . It's perfectly equipped self sufficient house .Kids truly enjoy the double Zipline .
Very nice lady show us the whole caste reception areas . Excellent experience. The mini ferry that you need to take to get to the island was the biggest adventure for children

A bit overpriced for my taste. overheated room. On the plus side, there is a full size bath-tub, and the wash room is big. Complimentary coffee machine is also nice. Mind you, the dinner is comprised of 3 courses, and currently costs 65€ per person. Wine is about 9€ per glass. Breakfast is complimentary as well. So, the whole "sleeping in a castle" thing is alluring, but keep in mind that it is pricey..

To reach Waterford Castle you take an auto ferry as it is located on an island in the middle of the Suir River. The drive to the castle is quite lovely with deer grazing along the roadside. The view of the castle as you come through the trees is just what you imagine Irish castles to look like. We were greeted graciously at the desk and our bags were carried to our room. We were impressed with the furnishings and decor. We made our way to the bar for a late afternoon drink and enjoyed chatting with our bartender in a very comfortable setting. We had dinner in the Munster Room and can see why the chef is an award winner. After a delicious breakfast the next morning, we took a walk around the grounds. Very nice and relaxing. We hope to come back soon!
M. L.
We had chosen one of their lodges as a weekend retreat and we had a brilliant time. One accesses the hotel, which is made in a separate island, by a 5 mins Ferry ride that frequently goes back and forth 24 hours a day.
The castle itself was majestic and a treat to the eyes at night while the walking track golf course and the rest of the facilities is enough to keep up occupied.
F. W.
A beautiful little Island in the Kings Channel with a magnificent Castle 🏰 and fabulous grounds and Golf course. Fishermen fishing around the Island as you take the woodlands walk towards the Lighthouse at the far end of the Golf course. Tame wild Deer 🦌 throughout the Island feeding silently on the shrubbery, Swans and other wildlife nesting along the marshlands, heading up and down the Channel and over to the mainland. The Castle itself is a fabulous experiences with four-poster beds looking out through granite stone windows with orignal Iron handles, orignal fireplace and bathroom features painted rose designs. The restaurant food is exquisite, will definitely return again for this experience alone. To finish relax in their bar with conservatory alcove, or in the reception area in front of the most magnificent fireplace that's constantly lit with huge logs. An excellent experience that we will return to again.

Unbelievably beautiful castle, hotel, and resort. From the ferry ride to get to the island where Waterford castle resides to the wild deer on the island, everything feels magical. We stayed a night for my wife's birthday and I reserved my room ahead of time and booked the "King and Queen for a Night" package, which was worth ever penny! I called and asked the staff to help me make this a special night for my wife and they went above and beyond to accommodate my request. Our room was amazing, well furnished, and very clean. The restaurant was very nice and the food was worthy of a place that made you feel like royalty. There is also a quint bar onsite with a very nice whisky menu, including some rare/vintage bottles to sample. My wife and I were so very impressed with Waterford castle and its' staff that we vowed to come back and stay here whenever we are in Southeastern Ireland. We have even decided that when we renew our vows on our 20th anniversary that we will do so at Waterford castle. If I could give this place six stars I would, it is truly amazing!
A. M.
Top knotch for atmosphere, luxury and fabulous food
A. O. B.
Castle and island itself are beautiful and the lodges are modern, spacious and well furnished. Easy access on and off the island with the 24/7 ferry. Great place for a weekend break
M. G.
Sublime food, atmosphere, architecture, grounds, plus a golf course. This is a must stay at if visiting. Older style rooms gives a real castle feel and completes this stay.
L. V.
Most amazing stay in Ireland! Beautiful place and lovely staff. Everyone was very nice. Unique and cool rooms if you love antiques and such as we do. Perfect...
J. H.
I love this place. We go here at least once a year and have for the last 5 years. We stay in the lodges. I've yet to stay in the castle but based on discussions from people I've met they say it's worth checking in to check it out.
The car ferry across is a nice exciting perk for the kids.
The island itself is full of wildlife and there are some lovely walks including a "hedgehog hotel".
It's locality to the city is fantastic. It's also a good staging point for road trips to Dunmore east, Tramore, etc.
Look out for the deals on the website, they are fantastic value.
e. r.
An amazing spot for families! Great walks, views and wildlife. The staff we incredibly attentive and we will definitely be back! Did I mention it is a 310 acre island!
G. W.
Decent golf course and got nice weather. You get a little boat onto the island which is an interesting novelty. Watched the rugby in the bar afterwards. Good setup.
J. D.
Gorgeous place. The "cottages" are 3-bedroom houses that can comfortably sleep 4-5 couples. The price for one in early June was less than I've paid for most closet-sized hotel rooms throughout the rest of Europe. This place is a hidden gem.
C. J.
Lovely hotel with the real castle feel. The rooms have charme - from the enameled sinks to the king size beds and the ancient windows. The island is lovely, small and tranquil and both dinner as well as the breakfast were impeccable.
J. B.
Beautiful castle. I loved the ferry to the castle. Golf course club house dinner was amazing. We stayed in the presidential and it could have not been a better experience. Amazing experience! Golf course is exceptionally beautiful
J. I.
Attended a wedding there a few months ago. The venue and setting is lovely. And the staff were very friendly. It was child friendly as well, so will be bringing the kids back some day!
e.
We stayed overnight at one of the self catering condos that were quite nice it had everything but food we also golfed at the on site golf course very relaxed atmosphere the course was well maintained ant the pro was very helpful we had to rent clubs and a buggy. All in all a great place
G. W.
We came here to play golf with relatives. Really fun course, great scenery, helpful staff. The ferry ride to the island is quick and easy. Highly recommended for a quick round of golf in Waterford
K. B.
Visited for a wedding reception and the venue was fantastic. Amazing food and excellent service from very good staff. Family stayed in one of the lodges and were also very happy with their accommodation.
C. R.
Amazing place to stay. The grounds are lovely for a walk although it is through grass and the rooms are lovely and comfortable to stay.
A. B.
Privacy and sense of seclusion from the outside world, A peaceful Haven with Beautiful island grounds & breath taking scenery. An elegant and luxurious venue to treat yourself to Afternoon Tea. The staff are very professional and friendly.
V. W.
Not enough rooms in main castle to accommodate our large.party. Internet didn't work and TV channels we're very limited. Grounds we're very nice though but glad we only had one night.
J.
Stayed in the lodges they are very spacious and modern also very clean. The resteraunt booked out for an event so we had dinner in the clubhouse. The pizza was terrible would not recommend eating here. Other than that the barman in the castle was very rude but overall I would recommend the lodges
I.
We stayed in the lodges at Easter in 2017. Booking was easy, we had a warm welcome & was the perfect setting for a family get together. Close to amenities & just a short drive from the copper coast & Waterford city.
E. R.
Stayed in one of the lodges, absolutely loved it
B. O. R.
Happiest family staycation, lovely place ,lovely people, warm welcome, thanks for making a week seem like wonderful eternity
B. P.
Amazing place! My cousin had his wedding here! Very nice accomodations, great service! Wonderful golf course, friendly staff, A true must go experience!
M. M.
Great location on an island, staff were great from the German ferryman to the front desk, bar men and women, fantastic food and great experience. We will be back.
P. Q.
Another jewel in an impressive line-up of Irish castles. Located on a small island, very private with access only by ferry. Wonderful 18 hole golf course. Excellent food.
R. M.
Just popped in for some lunch (if crossing on a ferry can be considered popping ) but enjoyed my food at the golf club. Can't see much of the castle if you aren't a resident unfortunately
D. t. A. r. D.
This is an incredible castle hotel on it's own private island. A brilliant ambience and warm cosy feel. Excellent service and warm friendly staff. Don't dare miss out on this hotel.
l. m.
Beautiful place steeped in history, ideal for a fairy tale romantic weekend. Being on an island and having its own private ferry makes it even more attractive for people who wish to escape and relax.
M. M.
Excellent facilities including the top class golf course
A. B.
Had Fantastic weekend here. We stayed in the houses and they were beautiful, and fitted out with the best of appliances, would have been 5 stars if not for a rude cleanly shaven headed barman.
J. H.
Lovely hotel, rooms nice and comfortable if not a bit dated. Food very good for both breakfast and evening meal. The free ferry to the island is good fun and runs all the time
D. G.
Scenario reference self catering: we are 7 to 8 x 50 something year old friends who meet twice a year to renew acquaintances and do some board gaming.
Previous haunts would be Kilcoran Lodges and any number of Air bnb houses. We don't ask for much bar clean and spacious houses, good cooking facilities, an outside area for petanque, and good beds.
This is the first place in 10 years that covers all these bases and had the bonus of being very reasonable.
Only issues were lack of a shop, felt that bottled water was required and nowhere handy for a strenuous walk.
We shall be back.
Beds were fantastic!
G.
Not so much a four star hotel. Would be hard pressed to call it a three star hotel. Employees were not cordial or helpful and the bathrooms are not user friendly. Considering it's on an island, the offerings, foodwise, are slim. The bar stops serving food very early. They do have satellite tv and wifi available.
j. j. j.
Amazing food, amazing castle.
Fix the central heating and tell the ferry driver he's not Admiral Nelson.
A. D. R.
Always a great place to relax. Beautiful castle and friendly staff. Very good value, amazing food, superb accommodation. Deer, Pheasant, Squirrel and Badger abound.
f.
Very peaceful and friendly staff. A very unique place. We had an awesome experience and would totally do it again. You can also see deer running around the island.
J. K.
Wow what an experience. Wonderful hotel. Here for a wedding. Staff went out of their way for all the guest. Food was delicious.
J. L.
Me and my family stayed in the loges for the Christmas Winterval event for two nights. Our original plan was to watch the late late toy show since there was a tv but there wasn’t even rte one on the tv and had to stream it on a small screen for the whole family to watch. For a big lodge there hosting a lot of people there was not there was a small amount of kitchen supplies such as pans and wooden spoons etc. other than that I was a lovely and warm experience.
p. s.
Waterford castle is a 5* hotel. Once you get the ferry across to the island you will start to relax. There is a great golf course and they have developed a 5km walk around the island.
D. M.
We didn't stay in the hotel just called in for a visit and a walk around the grounds I got talking to some of the staff who were very helpful with lots of information about the history of the castle we came away promising to come back and have a weekend stay in the new year
D. M.
Lodge was certainly not as good as the website photographs had led me to believe. NB No wooden picnic benches in photos. Paintwork tired. Mismatched delph and glassware. Definitely not as good as other holiday homes we've visited (Parknasilla and Fota).
B. D.
Really enjoyed the tea room experience, little bites were gorgeous, really enjoyed the crab meat mini pancakes! Also mixed berry tea was lovely!
F. F.
Beautiful environment, very professional management. I like the new track running along the perimeter of the island: a trail 8 km long for a marvelous walk with stunning views and wild fauna
J. R.
The most gorgeous castle to visit and stay in, when visiting Ireland . It would be the perfect place for a ceremony or wedding reception.
F. M.
Beautiful course and lovely club house
g. s.
Fabulous day golfing. Weather was really good. There was a Play in Pink Day for Breast Cancer. The food was also very good.
s. f.
Beautiful place , room lovly and spacious, dinner was disapointing . Some dishes cold and bland, meat tough. Expected more. Staff very friendly.
L. B.
Loved our stay here in the lodges
C. B.
Most magical place!! And one of the best things is that every room has a clawfoot tub and as someone who is 5’9” FINALLY my whole body can be submerged at the same time.
P. O.
Stayed in the lodges. Great space and facilities for cooking and hanging out. Golf course is fun. Clubhouse staff were good too!
P. K.
Fantastic experience from the get go,the receptionist(not sure of her name, black hair) was very friendly, helpful and informative and made the check-in process quick and simple. As for the rooms we stayed for work, me and another colleague got a lodge which was both clean and spacious and very comfortable for two weeks.Lots of things to do in the area and on the island and plenty of parking in front of lodges with easy transfers of ferry to mainland.I would highly recommend the staff and facility's here if your in the area this is a must plus the main hotel building is very aesthetic for photographs even if your not staying in the main building.
S. D.
Was a magical place to stay the rooms were so pretty & very spacious in the castle & the grounds were very picturesque would definitely recommend 2 anyone.
T. T.
Great place to stay, very relaxing break, walks etc., Golf Club great place to eat, very nice lady serving
P. S.
What a place! Used to be a castle, you can only reach out with the ferry and it has its own golf green. Of course it's upscale and overnights are expensive, but worth a visit
M. G.
Fairytale setting with an ancient Castle on a private island, accessible only by ferry, covered in deer, serving incredibly elegant food and an excellent section of cocktails, in settings rich with old world charm.
G. E.
The only thing that disappointed was no disabled access to the toilets we visited with our mother who is 81 and we had to bring my out the front door across the yard to side door to the toilet and when we went to the ladies no disabled toilet. If there was one the staff member I talked to didn't know if it was there
R. H.
Wonderful hotel. The ferry to get to the island was kind of odd but nothing bad about it. The food was very good and the room was fantastic!
A. F.
Beautiful location ,staff are excellent cant fault them. If you like old style decor in bedrooms expect that, i prefer more modern. Access is by ferry.
T.
Beautiful place to stay. Friendly staff and the meals were delicious.

A beautiful little Island in the Kings Channel with a magnificent Castle 🏰 and fabulous grounds and Golf course. Fishermen fishing around the Island as you take the woodlands walk towards the Lighthouse at the far end of the Golf course. …

Was playing golf here today , it's an excellent course, also had food at golf restaurant good service , but what stood out was the girl in the golf shop, was how welcoming, friendly and full of cheer which is very rare in this day an age.
L. G.
