I got my laser eye surgery done by Optilase. Prior to my treatment, naturally I was quite nervous. I had called Optilase to talk me through the procedure and after care. The girls in reception were very kind on the phone and this helped me to relax when it came to the surgery. The surgery was super quick. After a number of days, Optilase rang to check up on me which was nice. My check ups ran smoothly and it was very exciting to see my vision improvements during each check up. I had very bad eyesight prior to the surgery!! I would highly recommend Optilase to anyone who wishes to get laser eye surgery done.

Deciding to go for laser eye surgery was the best decision I ever made. My life has been made so much easier not having to depend on contact lenses and glasses. Simple things like getting up first thing in the morning or getting out of the shower and being able to immediately see clearly is just amazing! All the staff I dealt with from the very first person I spoke with on the phone about booking my initial consultation to the after care nurse who walked me to the front door after my surgery were so professional, helpful, friendly and reassuring. Great Service and amazing result. I initially had quite dry eyes, so I was asked to use some eye gel to be a fit for surgery. I did that for a few months and went back for two additional check-ups. Once the condition had improved they booked me in for surgery. The LASIK surgery was super quick and my eyes recovered within a couple of days. It made me feel more confident that they did multiple check ups before surgery. Staff was great and the result is just impressive. Still keep looking for my glasses sometimes just out of habit :)

I did an eyesight correction procedure with Optilase about 3-4 years ago. It was very well managed from initial consultation to post-op procedures. I had a little bit of dryness in my eyes for an year, but I followed their advice closely and I've not had any issues since. Like any medical procedure, there are always risks involved, but having perfect eyesight is such an improvement in quality of life that it greatly outweighs the possible complications. Whenever dealing with sensitive things, always follow the advice to the extreme! Rest when you are told to rest, put eye drops religiously, and have healthy habits. That will ensure you have the full benefits. I would definitely recommend the procedure and the clinic. They have been very helpful and professional throughout the whole process.

The whole process was very straight forward and easy. From the first consultation to the surgery e everyone was very friendly and explained all details pre and post op very clear. The day of the surgery from arriving to leaving took in total 80 minutes and about 10 minutes surgery time. I could see better straight away and within a few hours better than 20/20. The nurses and the surgeon were great. The clinic gives you plenty of appointments after the surgery and they are all incredibly prepared. I would have appreciated a more in depth preparation before the surgery since I had no idea what I was walking into. On the day the nurse asked me if I had bought prescription painkillers (which I didn’t, nobody told me) and if I had someone taking care of me for the next two days (I didn’t, nobody told me). My procedure was going to take a couple of days to heal completely, I thought I would have been fine by the evening (that’s what happened to my friends). I already shared the feedback with them, too but I get they didn’t take it seriously and didn’t really know what to do with my complain. You can imagine how difficult it has been asking favours few hours before the surgery to my friends (which they were all brilliant) since I lived by myself.

Everyone working here is so kind and answers all questions no matter how silly they sound. When I was up in Dublin for the day of the surgery I was very nervous, but the Nurses all calmed my nerves talking to me through the process, and after care. (Dr. Nafa let me bring a teddy into the surgery as long as I didn't sue if it fainted off the table 😂). While it is blurry the first day, sight was practically immediate!!! I Had my laser eye surgery done in the Dublin Clinic just a little over a week ago. The process from the very beginning was nothing short of amazing! The staff on the reception always greeted you with a smile and made you feel so at ease with everything! I had my consultation with Claire, she was amazing! The initial assessment and surgery were fine but the aftercare has been pretty much non existent. I went back for the contact lense bandages to be removed on day 5, then had a 6 week check up. I was due a call (no physical appointment due to Covid) at three months and I think again at 6 months but still have yet to receive one, despite being 11 months post op. I also referred someone for laser eye surgery that took place 3 months ago and have not received my referral charge.

Very good experience. I had to have eye surgery in the Eye and Ear and following this I had my date for laser surgery. I was scrubbed up for surgery but the Consultant post-poned as he wanted to check my eyes before the surgery. Had been thinking about laser surgery for years but thanks to optilase finance option it became a reality. I am based in Galway and consultation was made easy for me timewise around my lunch hour and was thorough, I felt at ease I was making right choice. One of my eyes did have slight issue which would've seen surgery cancelled if it hadn't cleared up beforehand but was given instructions and eyedrops and was checked again afew days prior. Thank god all good but I felt I would not have been sent if it wasn't rectified which shows they don't just say ya ur grand and take ur money! On day of surgery went smooth and felt relaxed. My surgeon was lovely man explained everything in detail and what to expect afterwards. I was given more than enough drops and exactly what way to use them including ones if I needed for bad pain but thankfully didn't need. Was able to go back to work after a week but did take afew wks/mths before final results. All in all great experience and its amazing to wake up in morning and be able to see straight away without poking my eyes with contacts!! No problem recommending Optilase to anyone.

Optilase cancelled my eye surgery a couple of hours before it was to take place . Had travelled up to Dublin with Hotels booked and days taken off work for it . Didn't like the fact they will charge you a penalty if you cancel surgery within 3 days of it but Optilase can cancel anytime ,even on day of surgery with no penalty on them.Ended up using Optilase in Cork after where the staff were excellent.

I had LASIK eye surgery back on Oct 2019. My eyesight was -4.5 in one eye and -5 in the other (so pretty badly short sighted!) I wore contacts religiously as I hated glasses and have done since I started wearing them when I was 10years old. I went for a consultation in Aug 2019 for the Lasec procedure but due to Roscea the surgeon advised that it would be more appropriate for the LASIK to avoid complications in later life. Everything was explained and discussed at length keeping me informed of how my surgery would progress. My recovery was quick (painful initially on the first day as I had been informed) but after that the grittiness went away and my vision was crystal clear. I don’t miss putting in my contacts every morning and just wish I was braver and had the surgery carried out many years before! Well worth the money!!

I first went to Optilase after 15+ years of wearing contacts and glasses. I wanted to be able to travel and not worry about the hygiene of using lenses and not having to wear glasses, especially when I didn't have prescription sunglasses. They told me I had a small dry patch in one eye, which I didn't know about, but they sent me home with drops and told me to come back in 2 weeks for the assessment again, and I was booked in for the surgery for the week following that. Everything was perfect and my surgery would be the next week. The surgery was totally painless, and comfortable throughout. The patient care guys were fantastic, so helpful and reassuring as were the guys in the laser suite who talked to me throughout and gave me the countdown on each eye (literally seconds is all it took!). The consultant had impeccable work and was so fast. In all 3 visits, I didn't meet the same optician or laser technician, this was totally reassuring because as a skeptic, I knew that they couldn't all miss something 😂 I would wholeheartedly recommend using Optilase, I was 100% reassured and constantly felt like I was in good hands, the whole way! I'm not very brave and I am very skeptical but I didn't feel the need to question anything as everything was so well explained each time. I attended Optilase clinic on 23rd of June 2021. Being a health care professional I was criticised by my family and few friends for choosing it over others. But throughout pre Laser consultations I really found the staff cooperative and helpful. Story of the Day: I met George Alex and was all ready for LASIK ( quick recovery one) when he did few scans and explained that probably LASEK ( the one with longer recovery) would be more suitable for person like me as my corneal thickness is on lower side. It was a real shock as sorting out work days off/child care is an issue in such acute situations. But trusting the staff I went through the procedure and yes It went well. Sore for 4 days, was out on Day 5. Vision nearly normal on Day 7 and back to work after follow up assessment on Day 7. Now it’s nearly 6 weeks post LASEK and every single day is a blessing for not using sunglasses. Post op care was excellent as the staff explained what to expect and how to deal with it along with leaflets and eye drops. I got my laser vision correction done in January 2021. I've worn glasses for 16 years and I couldn't see without my glasses, my prescription was -7.5! I was told by opticians over the years due to astigmatism I wouldn't be ever eligible. I decided to go to the free consultation with Optilase and to my surprise, they were more than happy to do it! I had considered having laser eye surgery on several occasions before I contacted Optilase but had never followed through because I was concerned about the price and what was involved, however I am so pleased that I did. The consultation was very thorough and reassuring. Everything was covered and all my concerns and questions were addressed. All my options were presented to me and I was given recommendations on which treatment would best suit me. The price plans were reasonable and could even be spread out over multiple payments if needs be, plus quite a chunk can be claimed back in tax which was a nice boost to ease the new year doldrums. The day of the surgery was great. I'm not generally a nervous person anyway but the secretaries and nurses were very reassuring. The procedure is ridiculously quick and was completed very professionally by all involved. The next couple of days and weeks are fairly horrible. I sat for the remainder of the day in a dark room doing nothing but sleeping and listening to podcasts but I was almost fully recovered and completely able to see by the following evening. Taking drops for the next two weeks is a bit of a pain but a short term inconvenience. I'm now eight months on, my vision is perfect and I still marvel at what I can see that I never used to be able to, even with glasses. The follow up care was great. Even with covid and travel restrictions I still had several follow up appointments and calls to make sure everything was okay. Overall I couldn't recommend Optilase enough and I don't know why I ever waited so long to go through with it. Do it!

I made a laser vision correction in this clinic about 1 months ago. The operation went well, the staff was caring. A month after the operation I was prescribed new eye drops however after couple of days of using them I started to have an allergic reaction to them, eyes were itching, red and felt painful. I called the clinic and receptionist told me that one of their practitioners will contact me. No call after two days of waiting. Called again however same answered followed: "the doctor will call in an hour" . No one called. I think this is not professional and irresponsible attitude towards the client with an allergic reaction to something that they prescribed. It seems that after receiving a full payment for the operation clinic lose interest in you and your vision.

Good environment and overall good experience! Happy with my eyesight now 5 months post the surgery. But I do feel the pre and post-care could be improved. Some examples: - I didn’t hear anything from the clinic after my deposit payment and before the surgery. It gave me some nerves cuz I worried I might have missed some important checklists. - only right before I entered the surgery room that the nurse showed me the checklist of post-surgery care. But I didn’t have enough time to read it through and note down everything before being urged into the surgery. - call follow-ups: a few times I missed their phone calls and then requested a call-back. But they never called me back. This included the third check 3 months after the surgery. But they never called me back after my follow-up calls. With that saying, the result is good so far 5 months after my surgery! I did PRK, so the recovery is slower. Please expect many dry eyes in the first few months. I still can’t rub or press my eyes as before without feeling any soreness (but it’s also a good way to keep your eye hygiene)!

Posting a month after my surgery to correct -3.5 vision. Several things to say about this place and I hope this helps you make your decision about whether going ahead with laser eye surgery with Optilase is the right choice for you. This is quite a big decision so here is as much as I can give you in a review.. Location: 8/10 I would have preferred if the clinic was a little outside the city where parking would be right outside but with that said, Tesco parking is a short 5 minute walk away so arranging a lift for after the surgery was not difficult. Optilase is on second floor, accessible by stairs or lift if you're lazy or have a mobility issue. The staff: 10/10 I don't think I can commend them enough for how I was treated in there. Everyone was incredibly nice and knowledgeable and any of my concerns or general questions were answered without issue. The procedure: This is personal to how it goes for you but mine went incredibly smooth (LASIK). I'm generally a very calm person so I didn't need a sedative and had no stress from check-in to post-op. Everyone was welcoming and reassuring and the surgeon had answers to anything I wanted to know. My surgery lasted about 15 minutes from the time I lay down in the table. The worst part was actually the surgeon forcing down a suction cup type of thing onto each eye to help keep it still because it has to be on pretty tight. The rest is painless and you barely even feel anything other than the discomfort of knowing someone is touching your eye. Once that was done, I was sat up, and asked how I feel, I gave it the ok and was, not joking, out if the building in about 5 mins, being helped by my wife to get to the car. It was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be and please don't overthink it when you read exactly what they do to your eye. It doesn't hurt and is over very quickly. Recovery: 5/10 This part was far tougher than the surgery because of how hopeless you are for the first 24hours. I'd honestly recommend to just let your spouse or any family member baby you for it because it's not a fun experience and the less you pretend to be a strong independent person, the better your recovery will be. You should also prepare everything you need for a day at least. Snacks and audiobook did it for me. Your eyes will feel tired, heavy and tears will stream down your eyes for absolutely no reason. It feels terrible but that's just like the first few hours after every surgery. I had no pain though, just discomfort. I had my surgery at about 4pm. Went for a nap between 5 and 8 and when I was up I already felt a lot better but the discomfort in the eyes persisted for about 48hours. After the first night sleep I was feeling much better and was ok to open my eyes without feeling too uncomfortable after a few seconds. By the end of the first week I had no discomfort at all and felt like a new person. You receive a post surgery care package which is very important to use properly without missing any timings. My vision now: 10/10. I do have 20/20 vision but I had a tiny bit of weird blurring around the edges for about 2 weeks when looking around. Apparently that's what people refer to as the halos. Thankfully they are gone now. The only negative is that my close focus is still not perfect. I am unable to focus on things closer than 15-20 cm which I don't really have a reason to do, basically ever but it is something that has changed compared to before. I have my 1 month checkup tomorrow. If anything changes I'll update here but I'm optimistic that it'll go well. Price: 6/10 This is again personal because for very minor correction you might pay a bit less but mine was quite pricey even after referral and health insurance discount. It's hard to put a price on your eye sight though. I think it was worth it. If I could go back, would I do it again? Absolutely yes!

Dan and the team made sure I was aware of the full procedure and there were no hidden extras. The PRK surgery itself was completely painless and was over within 20 minutes - I am 5 days post op and have absolutely no pain at all. Luckily I didn’t need to take anything stronger than Nurofen for 3 days after surgery. The cleanliness and precautions in place were second to none. A massive thanks again to all the team at Optilase Cork. 6 month update; I have been discharged from Optilase and have better than 20:20 vision. I have had absolutely no complications post PRK surgery and Dan was happy with my quick recovery. This has definitely been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Once you get over the first 3 days post op you’ll feel like a new person. I would definitely recommend getting strong omega 3 fish oils I found them excellent and think that’s why I recovered so quickly. If anyone is thinking about it and unsure my advice would definitely be to do it or at least book in for a consultation with one of the optometrist they will talk you through everything and what surgery is best suited to you without any pressure to commit. The only regret I have is not getting it done sooner.

I can't recommend it high enough. My eyesight was terrible I was legally blind if I lived in america. Now I can see crystal clear and I am seeing absolutely everything. Only got it in September so still going to my follow up appointments but I would do it all again tomorrow! You lye on the bed blind as a bat and as soon as they tell you to sit up you can see around the whole room plus you get funny space glasses to sleep in for the first few days. It's painless. The recovery isn't bad. It's like sleeping with your contact lenses in. Eyes constantly dry for a week or so. But a paper cut is more sore than Optilase you feel nothing at all. Just make sure you use all the drops and gel in your eyes before sleep.

I honestly can't recommend Optilase highly enough. I had my lasik eye surgery last November and it's been life changing. The surgery was literally only 44 seconds per eye. The recovery process was a breeze and by the next morning I had better than 20/20 vision. Unfortunately one of the side effects is dry eyes which I am still suffering from months later. As a result I have been unable to work (my job involves 11 hour days on a laptop) the dryness doesn't bother me as much if I'm not looking at a screen but quickly becomes unbearable when I do. I had no problem working those hours on a screen before the surgery. I had iDesign PRK done the end of 2020. After having glasses the majority of my life I decided to get it done, mainly for riding my motorbike and scuba diving. I had a great good experience in the Limerick clinic with Marie . She has been excellent from day one, very friendly and eager to help. The only reason I am giving a low rating is because i was booked in for Cork for my surgery. I was then cancelled And moved to an appointment in Dublin. This was ok as I had gotten another appointment and was ready to pay when I was called on Saturday 2 days before my surgery to say the surgeon would not operate on me . I asked why and was told the surgeon didn’t think I was a suitable candidate ? This worried me and thought there was something wrong with my eyes after he say my scans . I was there was no point in calling back as the surgeon would be in surgery for the next 2 days and I would not be able to talk to him . Marie again called me and was so kind . She took a look at my scans and reassured me everything was ok . She called the clinic in Cork and they squeezed me in . I was considering not getting the surgery as it was a lot of money and this was my 3rd attempt . I was treated so well in the cork clinic . It was all very clean and safe even with COVID 19. Now 7 months on it was the best decision I’ve made to get it done .

I can’t fault Optilase at all. I was thoroughly impressed throughout the process of getting surgery 4 weeks ago and most importantly have perfect vision again after wearing glasses for 15 years. It took a couple of weeks for my eyes to heal and really settle down but I have consistent 20/15 vision now. The surgery was no more than 15 minutes in total for both eyes. It wasn’t the most enjoyable 15 minutes of my life but would happily do it again. There was no pain during the surgery, but the 3-4 hours following it were quite painful. I would recommend strong painkillers or sleeping tablets after. Immediately my vision was much better but it did take time to settle down so bear that in mind if getting it done. I felt that the surgeon was highly experienced and knew what he was doing. I also have to complement the optometrists who explained everything in detail in the initial consultations and after the surgery. They were amazing. I would highly recommend getting the procedure done, it’s well worth the money and I would happily recommend Optilase to anyone. The only thing I would say to those getting LASIK is that it can take longer to go back to work than suggested. I was told most get the procedure done on a Friday and return the work on a Monday. This was not possible in my case as I couldn’t focus on my laptop at all (software engineer) for at least a week. YMMV

I had lasik eye surgery with Optilase last weekend and I couldn’t be happier with my results. It really is life changing! I had my free consultation and my surgery at the Dublin clinic at Ely Place. The whole experience exceeded my expectations. The consultation was informative and the process was explained very well. The team in reception are very welcoming and informative also. Communication is excellent, Optilase rang me a few times to confirm appointments and were on hand to answer any questions I had. My surgeon put my mind at ease prior to my surgery (which lasted about a minute!) ! I didn’t feel a thing! My eyes did sting once the anaesthetic drops wore off after the surgery so my advice would be take a painkiller straight after surgery! I took mine a tad bit late (my own fault!) and suffered unnecessarily! Get home to bed and off with the lights as soon as you can. Rest is key and taking the eye drops, which provided some much needed relief also! After a few hours I began to feel like myself again. I had a check up the next day with my surgeon to make sure everything was ok. I have my second check up tomorrow. The aftercare is fantastic. Optilase provide a wonderful service all round. I only wish I had done it sooner! I also got €100 off my bill from a friend referral which is a nice discount. All in all I’m one very pleased customer! While I was happy with the end product of my surgery and now 20/20 vision, personally I felt I could have had a better overall customer experience. My surgery and dealings with Optilase took place in their Dublin buildings. I went with PRK surgery. Recovery was nearly 5 days before I started to feel better and able to see under bright lights. It was about 2 weeks before I really noticed full effects. My initial consult was definitely my best experience back in June 2019. The optician from Galway who came up to help was fantastic on the day. I was a little confused with their advertisement as it states €500 off laser eye surgery. Picture included. However, you may get €500 off surgery if you choose to give up your lifetime guarantee on your surgery. Hardly a trade off that makes you want to give up €500. I took time to make my decision and called back a few days later and decided to go with it as I was under a little bit of time pressure to get this done during the summer. My surgery took place at the end of July. Before my surgery on the day I did find one friend whom had surgery with Optilase so to take €100 off for the friend referral. They found his file. Optilase were not very generous with putting this through on my final payment. I only noticed this on my post week referral that they hadn't put this through and questioned why. They said it was too late even though I was promised it wasn't an issue. On the day of my surgery the optician who checked my eyes could have been better with her eye test instructions. She didn't communicate clearly when she wanted my eyes open etc and got frustrated if I blinked at the incorrect time. My post-op care I thought Optilase were very stringent with the amount of eye drops they would give. I was questioned on how I had used up so much eye-drops rather than be given it to make the recovery easier. I have yet to receive the cheque promised from Optilase for the €100 friend referral even though I got my friend to email Optilase to get the issue resolved.

I had LASIK surgery with Optilase in August 2018 at their Ely Place clinic in Dublin and I am delighted with the results. My vision was -1.50 in both eyes and now my vision is 30:20, much better than 20:20!! From initially getting in contact I knew Optilase were for me. Claire and Amy at reception made booking my appointments no problem at all and always fitted appointments round what suited me. Linda who I met at the initial consultation and for my check-ups after surgery was fantastic. During the consultation everything was explained and I learnt so much about my eyes and how they function. I left with no questions unanswered and if I had any after I could always ring. On the day of surgery it was so quick and never felt any pain. All you have to do is lie there looking at a flashing orange light in the distance and there's a gentle brush over your eye. Each eye is done separately and takes around 5 minutes per eye. Afterwards my eyes were slightly stinging and somewhat blurry vision. Gillian and all the aftercare team were amazing after surgery. My eyes stung slightly for about 4hrs after surgery and watered a bit, but I slept for a few hours on the way home and when I got home. When I woke the stinging was all gone and my vision was perfect, even better than what i would of had wearing my glasses previously. I went back the next day for my post-op appointment and my eyes were healing perfectly and my vision had reach 30:20 in less than 24 hours after surgery! Anyone considering laser eye surgery, I would definetly recommend Optilase. The whole team at Optilase really care for and look after you, my experience was very positive and you really can "see the difference" after surgery. Thanks again Optilase! Update; Over 1 year on and all my check-ups with Optilase and my vision still is perfect. I still stick by my decision to recommend Optilase and still so glad I went ahead with having laser eye surgery.

I was very nervous about having the surgery but I would recommend it to absolutely anyone! I found the staff at Optilase to be excellent from day one. My initial consultation was very informative, the receptionists were always kind and helpful and on the day of the surgery itself, the staff couldn't have been kinder - they had me completely at ease during the surgery, so much so that I was chatting during it! The surgery is only seven minutes per eye (I had the LASIK treatment) and the results are amazing - I had better than 20/20 vision the morning after the surgery. My tip for anyone getting treatment would be to do the same as me and book your appointment first thing at 8am in the morning as it prevents waiting around - I was in and out in under an hour an a half.

Booking my procedure was very quick and at a convenient time for me. On the day of the procedure, another optometrist Aoife preformed the whole suite of eye exams again, I spoke with the surgeons before the surgery and a nurse regarding my after care. During the procedure the nurse kept me informed at all times what was happening to me. I felt completely at ease. I felt no pain or discomfort. I was provided with all the drops required to use afterwards and after 5 days had my contacts taken out. The staff here are excellent, extremely professional and friendly. I am currently recommending everyone I know to come here for laser eye surgery.

Firstly the consultation was great, it really goes through everything and anything you may have worries about. I find optilaze very efficient and well run. My surgery went great. I was sore for the next couple days but the pain is well worth the outcome. I have referred 4 people. For every person you refer you retrieve 100 euro and so does the person you referred. I had LASIK surgery with optilase, the process was well explained, very fast and my anxiety taken care of during the surgery. Only 3 to 4 hours after the surgery I was able to see almost perfectly. I had PRK laser eye surgery about 3 months and 2 weeks ago, and i can honestly say it has been life changing for the better. My eye sight is currently at 20/20. Before if i did not have glasses i could not read subtitles on TV or menus above the counter in cafés and restaurants, and everything at a distance was just a blur. I had a perscription of -1.50 on one eye and -1.75 on the other. The surgery itself was very fast and completly painless. Imediatly after the surgery i could see a signifigant improvement in vison from what it was, but i knew the best was yet to come. The first day was alright with no major disomfort it just felt better when i had my eyes closed so the rest of the day was spent relaxing and listening to music and audio tapes from online. On day 2 and 3 there was some discomfort but never to the point where it was unbarable, and was quickly relieved by over the counter pain medication. I noticed improvements every day and by day 6 my vision reached the legal requirements for driving. By day 10 i was able to return to work, and by week 2 i could go back to doing things like going to the gym and getting haircuts ect. By this point i was very happy with being able to see the world so clearly like never before even at 2 weeks post op. My vision got better every week gradually and before i knew it my eyesight reached the 20/20 mark. It is truley an amazing feeling to be able to wake up every morning and see everything so sharp and clear. The staff are very friendly, helpful and professional. I would highly reccomend Optilaise for anyone thinking of getting laser eye surgery done.

Have to say there was nothing to be nervous about after all. The staff are all so amazing and friendly and put you at ease. The procedure itself was over in about 3 minutes. Recovery the first day I'd say go to bed and set an alarm for drops every 2 hours coz your vision is blurry and your eyes are a bit uncomfortable (not sore though) and by the following day - voila!
