I had laser eye surgery in July 2021 and I can't speak highly enough of William Power and the other staff in Blackrock clinic. All appointments were stress free and on time. Dr Power was very calming during the procedure I felt I was in capable hands. My results are better than 20:20 and have no side effects. This has completely changed my life and I'm so grateful to the whole team .

I had LASIK surgery with Dr. Power last week and it was a great, smooth experience. I achieved 20/20 vision the first day post-op, but I have developed 'halos' when looking at a light source which I'm still waiting to eventually peter out. This is an annoying side effect of the surgery but I've been told this is completely normal and should go away eventually. For anyone interested in what the surgery procedure itself is like - beforehand you're asked if you want to take a tablet of Valium if you have some nerves going into the surgery. The surgery itself doesn't take long, around 10-15 minutes for both eyes. A big HEADS UP though (and this was the part that freaked me out) - the first part of the surgery involves feeling pressure on your eye which eventually results you in not being able to see anything (you only see grey). This loss of vision was frightening but is only temporary. Afterwards they swing you under a laser where they laser your eye. This was completely painless and was the easiest part of the surgery. Dr. Power was really fantastic in talking to me throughout the whole process and I felt like I was in good hands. All in all if you are considering laser eye surgery, Dr. Power's is a great choice. Be prepared to line up lots of audiobooks to listen to during the recovery but it's worth it!

I’ve wanted to get laser eye surgery for years but never got around to it. With covid, I was fed up of my glasses fogging up so I decided to look into it. I rang every surgery in Dublin and decided on William Power, based in Blackrock Clinic. From the first phone call, I knew I had made the right choice. I had my initial scans and consultation at the end of June and had my surgery yesterday morning (16th July). Today I had my follow up consultation and everything has gone to plan and I now have 20-20 vision. (I was -3/-4 before the surgery) so I’m absolutely thrilled with the results and can’t get over the difference. Everyone I met, especially Chris and Prof. Power were so kind, patient and caring! If you’re thinking of getting laser eye surgery- don’t delay! It’s definitely the best decision I’ve ever made.

On my first consultation visit, Prof Power took the time to develop a good understanding of what my specific needs and expectations of the surgery were, then planned the surgery accordingly. Prof explained what the LASIK procedure is going to entail and what I should expect of the post-operative recovery period. Despite being nervous and skeptical about the procedure, I left the consultation feeling confident that I was in good hands with complete knowledge about LASIK. I had bilateral LASIK done in late May of 2021. On the day of the procedure, you're given very clear instructions as to what you should expect during the operation so that there are no surprises once you're brought in and that you're comfortable as possible. Prof Power and his team were very courteous and comforting throughout. The procedure lasted roughly 15 minutes and I was home within the hour postoperatively. I had 20/20 vision on my post-op day 1 during my follow-up clinic visit. I was finally glasses-free for the first time in 10+ years, and can finally pursue sporting freely without feeling burdened. I am extremely grateful for Prof Power and his team, and could not recommend this enough.

The procedure itself and the following 5 hours are uncomfortable, but by 5 hours after the procedure my vision was already notably improved and the discomfort had largely subsided. Before the procedure I had moderate shortsighted vision and when I went for my check up the day after the procedure they performed an eye test and my vision was already better than 20/20 vision! I had LASIK with Mr Power less than a week ago to correct my myopia and it is one of the best things I ever did! I had been wearing glasses for 24 years so I was very apprehensive and nervous about the procedure. The whole team was so lovely to deal with and reassuring throughout the whole process; Mr Power's nurse even held my hand throughout the procedure which was so kind. The procedure itself was completely painless; it took 10 minutes at most and Mr Power talks you through each step and tells you how long each will take so that it is less daunting. I was able to see as soon as I got up from the table! You're given all of your aftercare instructions, eye drops, etc., once you are done and everything you need to do is explained. I went for a check-up the next morning (to which I drove myself!) and I had better than 20/20 vision; I couldn't believe it! I would definitely recommend Mr Power if you are considering getting LASIK.
