J. L.Nephin, Highest standalone Mountain in Ireland, this hike is very difficult and really boggy, it's not marked and the Mountain seems to keep getting harder the further up you go. Make sure you have good footware and a change as you will get wet.
L. T.It was tough climb. Need to be prepared and very fit. Amazing views all the way. Trail is slippery with loads of dangerous moving rocks. Hocking boots required, climbing sticks needed. Trail is marked with white sticks.
c.Yes, this is the starting point for one of the three Nephin Beg routes. This is the Northern walk. 5 mi/8km. Bring your boots, hiking sticks and bad weather gear for this one! Hike not too technical but definitely a moderate with tough bits on loose rock. Go do Diamond Hill first. That’s an “upper Easy” for me.
