Reviews of Lough Boora Discovery Park
This is an absolutely beautiful place to visit. So peaceful and filled with really interesting sculptures. The forest walk was a particular highlight.
Unfortunately, despite the website saying that there are toilets and a café, both were closed. There were no bins along the trails. There is a distinct lack of signage too. Many of the crossroads had no signs at all!
We thought we were on one of the looped trails only to discover ourselves completely outside the park with a very long walk to get back!
Adore this place any time of the year, fairy forest it's the most magic place to relax
What a wonderful place to visit we had a great day kids loved cycling and and exploring everywhere. Bring a big picnic loads of places to sit and take it all in
Really amazing place, several different routes to walk or cycle around including 3k, 5k and 10k plus.
Picnic areas aplenty also.
Packed full of wildlife and beautiful scenery everywhere you look. Stunning forest walk that can't be missed.
Cafe and toilet facilities on location.
One of my favourite places to cycle around loads of trails within the park and beautiful lakes and wildlife.
Great place to explore by bike (BYO bike. Not sure what's he happening with the bike hire but wasn't open) or on foot. Former peat bog now filled with sculptures. My kids especially like the Black Forest/wood and the stone 🪨 pyramid.
Beautiful walks and scenery ...very well done and accessible to all...picnic area and plenty of parking.. an ideal destination for a few hours walking and relaxing...well worth a visit 😊
Lough Boora was absolutely beautiful! An amazing place for anyone looking for a walk or to explore with some interesting sculptures and natural sites to explore. Well worth a visit 🍀👏
Beautiful looped walks, of varying lengths. Fabulous monuments to look at. We were lucky to go on a quiet day and met very few people on the track. Really enjoyed the walk
Excellent park with tarmac walks. Did the 10k loop. Has a visitor center which serves lunch and coffee and drinks.
Beautiful place for walking and cycling off the public road so very safe for all the family. Lots of picnic tables to sit down and enjoy the good weather.
Lough Boora is a must visit place in the Midlands, fantastic expanse of Peat land, lakes, wildlife, especially birds in their natural habitat. There are many kilometres of treks suitable for walking, cycling and baby's buggies. Their is also many interesting sculptures to see.
Picknick tables are plentiful and Lough Boora is very family friendly and also suitable for older people and people with disabilities. Enjoy.
Wonderful place for a walk. Very interesting sculptures and lots of wildlife. Free parking at the moment too 👍🏻
It was a fantastic day out for our kids and ourselves. We rented bikes too but please make sure that they are working well.
3 cycling trials available at 5,7 and 15 kilometres.
Lots to see on fresh air. Beautiful Lough with swans, ducks and geese. Flora and fauna is fantastic. Bird watching hut is close by the park.
Recommend to all ages.
It's a place to Walk cycle fish and you'r kids Will love it😁😁50k walking And cycling trail's All on flat ground And a lovely restaurant there and the park is wheelchair accessible friendly 👍👍
Excellent place , lots of routes to explore all day long . Visitors centre coffee etc . Great place to bring the kids .
What a great afternoon exploring and discovering. Enjoying well defined walkways. Some impressive sculptures. Some sadly not maintained but still impressive. Lovely lakeside café. Bike hire with reasonable rates. Great car parking spaces. Will be coming back again for sure.
Fantastic place to go for a walk in the midlands! The sculptures are really good fun to play around in and the walks themselves are so peaceful and beautiful. We also ran a race here and loved it!
Great long but easy cycling trail's , walking sculpture path is recommended. Children can have lot of fun counting the fairy's in the rainforest.
Brilliant place for a family day out walking or cycling. Lots of places to enjoy a picnic and take photos.
Great spot for families with plenty to do - including walking and cycling trails, sculptures, fairies, trains, ponds, Ducks and a whale. Lots to learn about nature and the history of the site and the peat industry. Excellent facilities including cafe, bike hire, car parking and toilets.
Great place to go especially with kids. You can rent bikes and bring your own picnic with plenty of places to sit. Great for the kids to explore the old trains that used to be user here. Great day out. Brilliant fairy trail for the kids too.
Discovered this place by accident. It's amazing and beautiful. Took my 6 year old there to cycle his bike (9.3 km). I recoiled slightly at the cost of lunch, but it was really nice and it was substantial so worth the money I suppose. You can bring a picnic of course but, as in was staying in a hotel nearby, that wasn't easy to arrange. Anyway, it's a great place to bring the family.
Great adventurous day, quite, comfortable walks, ideal for families with little kids on a sunny day.
This is the second year running we have visited Boora, we rented bikes and cycled around for a while, the going is mostly easy with the odd incline. There is a fairy walk and sculpture trail on the site. The cafe was nice , we only had drinks but food was available.
Smashing day out, bike hire available, easy routes for walking and cycling, 3km, 5km, 9km or 13km. Gorgeous scenery and the sculpture park is really worth a visit
An amazing place to visit especially if you like good walks. There was a big walk and a woodland walk that we did. Visited here twice to try the different walks available. Lots of wildlife around. Café on site but it is a tad expensive- €7.50 for two artisan fruit juices. But overall a great place to visit.
Stunning walk in such a unique setting. Beautiful sculptures, nature abounds and is thriving here. A must see
A beautiful nature reserve, lovely little walks for the whole family to take. Only cost you 4 euro for the parking and that's it. We especially loved the fairy trail it was a winner with our kids. Looking forward to returning when the weather improves and will be bringing the bikes and a picnic.
Lough Boora Discovery park is for people who can enjoy a good walk. There is a walking trail with some sort of sculptures in between. Recommended for kids and no ticket needed.
Great area for walking. Very peaceful. And great coffee in the visitors centre!
Fantastic bike trip through the bog and forestry lovely tea room, amazing sculptures and installations well worth a visit free entry bike hire available onsite. Well done all involved
Great place for kids, perfect for walking short and long walks. Bikes hire not very expensive. We definitely come back during summer.
Nice experience in the nature, with the opportunity of discovering history of the place and its industrial exploitation.
The sculptures are noteworthy, be sure you spend some time reading their explanations.
Food at the visitor center is surprisingly good.
Lovely location, with fantastic walks and cycling tracks. Beautiful scenery and a great little coffee shop. Definitely be back again.
Hired a tandem bicycle for a few euro, my sister and I had a nice 45min cycle on one of the routes round the sights. The trails were pretty good craic. Really nicely designed and maintained park. It's a real find this spot.
Cafe had nice snacks and hot drinks. Definitely recommend to a friend, lots to amuse kids (we climbed up the pyramid) and will be back for sure.
P.S. the gentleman running the cycle hire gave us his business card in case we'd need assistance - should we get a puncture or otherwise break down.
Great little day out. Parking was free at the time.but there are pay parking stations around so not sure if it's always free.
Plenty of walking and cycling trails, and plenty of things on the way to occupy the kids. There's a cafe on site too.
We'll definitely be returning.
A great day out for the family by walking or cycling. Cycling hire is reasonably priced. Cafe on site. My son says "some of the sculptures were great and some were rubbish", but hey, that's art !
Unreal experience. We walked the Mesolithic path (red route, 9.3km) and had a chocolate brownie, tea and coffee in the café at the end 😁 The whole thing was cool. Great parking, ample picnic spots, lovely staff in the café, clean toilets and great info to read along the various routes. Highly, highly recommend this place.
Very relaxing place to explore with lots to see and would suit all the family
Great walking and cycling trail.
Its a really nice area to go running. I stopped into the cafe today for the first time and it was very nice. Lovely outdoor decking area onto a pond and the coffee and cake was nice.
A beautiful area for a picnic and a walk. Relaxing spot to be with your family and friends.
Offaly has the most tranquil, discovery Place in the Midlands, I absolutely would recommend it to everybody. The walk is long but you can go on a shorter route if you like, from young to old there is something for everyone. The walks a well broken up by different little sights, right forth to fairy ringing, worried tree , and so much more. They lakes are beautiful and the eloquent swans and little ducks take your breath away especially the first time you visit. Would I recommend it definitely, would I go back again absolutely. Socialization was very good and impressive. Plenty of families and great social distances. Well done longh Boora Discovery Park.
10 out of 10 for all your attractions
Really nice place to walk picnic also you can hire bikes there too there of stuff to do there too nice place
Lovely and large outdoor space, filled with different routes which you can take, long distances suitable for cyclists. Interesting sculptures to fascinate the kiddies along with marvellous fairy trail along the forest walk. Very warm and welcoming staff greeting you at the Café as soon as you enter, the Café itself has a delicious menu to offer followed by many delicious treats & most importantly delicious ice cream!
Have to say this is one of the Midlands hidden gems. The regeneration of the board na Mona bogs in this area is fully evident at Lough Boora discovery park. Lovers of biodiversity, conservation, ecology and of course birds will be in there element here. Home of the Gray Partridge project this is worth the trip. A bird watchers paradise with lapwing, golden plover, partridge, buzzard, hen harrier and even the white tailed sea eagle all spotted in the last year.
If all this is your "cup of tea" give Lough Boora discovery park a visit you won't be disappointed.
Really enjoyed the forest trail with the family. Quiet and peaceful and the park is well looked after. Beautiful scenery all round.
Most beautiful place in Tullamore
Great place to spend the day with fishing catch and release to let the kids see if the can catch their first fish. You can also hire bikes and cycle the 5km path stopping off and look at the art sculptures. There is a place to have something to eat and a coffee. Well worth a visit
Beautiful location. Cycling or walking with lots to see for kids also. Good coffee and food on the cafè. Recommended
Loads of exploration and a lovely place with plenty of picnic areas and sculptures.
Great day out, beautiful scenery and very interesting sculpture park.
Located in the Borders Na Mona bog my expectations were low...but how wrong I was!! Excellent climbing and exploring for the kids and very nice relaxing cafe on site for refreshments afterwards. Top drawer and all at absolute minimum cost.
Fantastic amenities on cutaway bog with walking and cycling routes, sculpture park, bird watching, fairy trail, angling, Visitor Centre and the oldest evidence of civilisation in Ireland at the Mesolithic Site. The latest addition at the Visitor Centre is The Organic Kitchen for really excellent food with local organic produce.
Stunning location, the cafe food is so much better than what I come to expect in a place like this in the UK. And most of all the most helpful staffs at the bicycle rental. For a visitor like me these people are worth their weight in gold!
Great place to hang out on a sunny day, bike rental, and a great cafe
Fabulous peaceful place to walk &, enjoy the surroundings
Wonderful amenity. Beautiful place with many nice walks.
Easy going, looped walks on paths and in forest settings. Visitor centre also sells food & hot & cold drinks.
Good area for walking. Interesting sculptures. Great to see this area being turned into such an amenity.
Smashing place for a wonderful walk in nature. Currently free to visit, and lovely cafe available for tea and scones.
Great space, fab thing to do outdoors in current climate. Interesting, suits all fitness. Family friendly
Very nice place for a walk and cycle with friends and family
Excellent. Beautiful well kept walk and cycle ways. Mostly on the flat so an easy cycle for the younger ones. Lots of very big sculptures. Plenty of picnic areas. A nice cage with good coffee and very nice fresh desserts. Friendly helpful staff. No charge to get in. Even the parking was free the day we were there. Everything is well sign posted. We brought our own bikes but the guys there renting the bikes talked us through the routes and told us to call them if we had a puncture or any problems. Toilet facilities very clean and modern. All in all it was an excellent experience. Couldn't recommend it highly enough!
Beautiful park easily accessible from anywhere in the county. The artwork is unique and there's enough trails for families to enjoy or seasoned runners to get out and about. Gets busy on the weekends, especially during lockdown.
Loads to do and see for everyone
Wonderful cycle paths. Lovely family run cycles for rent. Always available to help. Coffee shop very goog. A pity the carpark gates close at 6. Far too early.
Amazing day out for the family! Plenty to do and see,
A must visit!
Great spot. Well worth a visit. Nice walks, cycles & restaurant in peaceful, beautiful surroundings. Sculptures alone well worth the visit.
Beautiful forest. Large walking area. Many attractions for kids and adults. Very remote place
Absolutely beautiful. So many different terrains.
For a nice day out with family if you like cycling or walking this is the place to go
We love to go there with out young children. It's a great place to visit on a weekend to let the kids run around and play with the old bog trains, climb the stone pyramid, have a picnic, and experience the boglands.
Unusual park and sculptures. Better signage would be wonderful. Definitely worth a visit!
Superb natural reserve. Plenty of flora and fauna. A must for nature lovers. well designated tracks ensure easy walks. family friendly.
Gorgeous place to visit. Lovely long walks with lots to see & it's FREE!!
Fantastic walks and cycling paths
I love this Park. Any number of mazy routes you can take to explore the whole park. Several clearly marked loop trails from a couple of kilometers up the 16 kilometers. Loads of interesting local art to pique the interest and plenty of history throughout. Many bits explained on info boards located on the routes.
If you have a child learning to cycle it's a very safe place for them to get the hang of it. Bike hire available too. They might even see a Fairy on their adventures.
Nature lovers will get lost in the many different environments in the park with plenty to see, hear and indeed smell.
Well worth a visit for old and young alike.
We really enjoyed our first visit to Lough Boora. I would highly recommend going there for a nice stroll/ exploration. You are met with beautiful sculptures and views.
Very nice place to walk walk with children and dogs
Fantastic hidden away spot. Great cafe, rent a bike, spend hours exploring.
Fantastic scenery...such a peaceful place. Views across the bog and lakes in summer is stunning.
Lovely place to visit, with coffee shop and visitors area
Amazing spot for walking and cycling. Could go here every day for a week and do a different route. On site bike rental was great value with a good range of bikes. Cafe was lovely. Sculptures are very interesting.
Always love packing up a picnic to go to Lough Boora , kids are obsessed with the pyramid and love the maze
This is a perfect place to walk without the worry of avoiding traffic. The scenery in this parkland on a bog is wonderful. There is also a chance to do a spot of fishing from the shores of the lakes. The Sky Train is perfect for photographs and kids love it. I would recommend Lough Boora to all.
You can bring a picnic, hire bikes for all ages of the family,go fishing/feed the ducks and swans, take a hike or go for an adventure in the fairy forest all while taking in scenic views, history, animals and much much more. Great family day out for all ages!
Nice walk but poor signs for the trails.
Excellent day out. Best day I've had all year. Just been with a class of 64 teenagers and it was amazing. Would definitely recommend it. Food was delish and I'm celiac but the bagel with warm chicken and avocado was the best. Thanks to all the staff for making it a fantastic day.
It's nice, nothing amazing but a nice place to explore wìth the kids.
Lovely place for family walk to burn off calories and energy 😊
Lovely park for family cycling and walking.
Wilderness ! Raised bog, lakes, walking and cycling trails. Coffee shop ! Wildlife ++ good parking, but narrow uneven access road.
I absolutely love the swans on Lough Boora
Beautiful walks
A gr8 place to walk and experience nature at its best 😜🤪😜
Paradise on a good day. All days are good in Lough Boora. Enjoy
Lovely cycle through the park.
First visit to Lough Boora very impressed interesting place and ideal for a family outing lovely walking paths and also ideal for cycling will definitely return
Brilliant. Kids loved it. Plenty to see. Great for cycling or walking. Had a lovely cup of soup in cafe beforehand
New coffee shop owners..
The organic kitchen..
Had a lovely lunch today, highly recommend. ... All we need is good weather . 😎
Brought our own bikes and had a great day.
Great spot loved the bike hire even doe it was raining it didn't dampen our spirits very well priced and the food in the little cafe was lovely .The man who organised the bike hire was very friendly our son loved the fairy trails and the trains around the cycle .only small issue we had was the dog fouling can't understand why people can not pick up after there loved dogs. We would recommend this place as it's great for families
Myself and my partner went there for a walk. Entrance is free but you must pay 4 euro for the car park which is fair in my opinion. To our surprise we learned that there was a bicycle rental shop where adult bikes were 5 euro per hour. We rented a bike each and went on the short 5km path. The trail itself was all paved and flat so cycling was easy. The sculptures are all very interesting and made for nice breaks every 5 or so minutes. There were lots of hikers and families there as well so there is something for everyone. Staff were all very friendly and willing to help us get started. I would definitely recommend going there for a day out.
Only reason I'm not giving 5 is because we stopped into the cafe on the way out. We got one hot chocolate, one coffee and two slices of cake totalling 16 euro. I thought this was a bit expensive plus the drinks weren't great.
Beautiful place to explore. Very family friendly and lovely coffee shop.
This was a great experience for us and our two young kids. Plenty to see and lots of walks. From sculpture and fairy trails to getting lost in the woods and bike hire is very reasonable. It's an asset to the Midlands.
We cycled the red route, it was everything we hoped for. The route has lake and forest views and great views across to the slieve blooms. Good tracks, well maintained and nice coffee. Offaly really is the capital of Ireland hidden heartlands
A fantastic experience & gr8 value for money ..... next time we'll bring a picnic
Beautiful place. Its still a working bog so you can see bog trains transporting turf. Lots of birdlife. Great walking and cycling paths. Bikes can be rented on site. Lots for kids to do. Nice cafe, well kept toilets and lots of parking. Well worth a visit. Only drawback its a little remote and hard to find.
Lovely discovery Park with art installed in the park. Famous for cycling track here. Insta lovers and photographers must visit the place and explore the art in the park. Also would be a good spot for pre wedding photography.
Absolutely stunning place to go on a cycle anyone looking for a real taste of Ireland this is the place. The bike rental service is great and there’s a lovely little cafe to grab lunch all very affordable.
The place is fantastic. Unfortunately we did not have enough time to spend. We did do one of the walls in spite of the heat and were very impressed with what we saw. We have promised to return with the grandchildren and to bring the bikes. Great venue for cycling and taking in the surroundings.well done all involved.
Great place for the kids to have a run around
Beautiful , peaceful place for family to visit .
Great place to walk, cycle and enjoy the nature.
Excellent facility, ideal for a family day out in the fresh air any time of year. The bicycle hire is very reasonable and the guys are very friendly. Every bit of Lough Boora deserves five stars apart from the cafe which is why Im giving it three. We visit regularly and have almost always been disappointed with the staff in the cafe who seem to be oblivious to waiting customers. On one occasion there were four behind the counter standing around doing nothing while queing customers gave up and left after waiting for over 15 minutes. Usually when your order is taken and payment received thats when the big wait starts! So avoid the cafe or be in no rush if you dont and your in for a lovely day out.
Family friendly walking trail
Beautiful national park..eco friendly with lots of mature trails
It's a pleasant day out with it's own character. Easy to get about. December probably not the best time, waiting for the wildflowers to bloom. Did see a hare and a charm of goldfinchs.
Management does the stupid trick many will be familiar with, they lock up all the public toilets. How thoughtless is that.
It has plenty of walks to choose from. You can also cycle them. They have a coffee shop. You can bring a picnic also. Beautiful lakes , sculptures.
Great experience free parking at present.. small children loved the fairy trail ... well worth a visit..
Really nice park to walk, mostly flat and tarred walkways. Restrooms, cafe etc.
Wonderful spacious area with trails to suit all
Lakes and Woodlands sculptures, and play areas for children of all ages. coffee shop
Had a lovely walk this morning and great to see so many people using it. Pity about the people who bring their dogs don't always pick up the dog dirt hate to see a child walking in it🤔🤭 Also the car park might be used by more people if you went back to charging €2 again for it
Overall a great facility on our doorstep
Excellent place. The bike park is brilliant, you can rent bikes of all sizes, child seats, trailers etc. The fairy area is brilliant for kids, we brought a picnic. Kids loved it and wanted to go back the next day.
I am biased here with this review as I live in this area. It's a lovely scenic area great for enjoying the outdoors. If you come to visit take your rubbish with you please.
Lovely place for a walk ☺️
Worth a walk around with different loops for different abilities
Very nice for cycling-did the 15 k loop with 3 adults and two kids in the seat behind. Enjoyed the day . Cafe is nice but is definitely overpriced even by Dublin standards.
Diverse outdoor parkland. Rent or bring your own bike for the longer trails, pack some crumbs if only dropping in to see the ducks and swans. Several bird hides positives around the lakes for those who want to see more wildlife. For random interest there are three large outdoor sculptures and there fairy door path. Now with a cafe and improved ( though charged) car park.
Beautiful park to go for a walk and so much to see too
Dublin Local History Meetup had a great tour of the park with our wonderful guide Lisa. Who'd have thought there was do much history in a bog. We had a lovely lunch afterwards in the onsite cafe. All the staff were so friendly. We'll definitely be back again. A great day out.
fantastic use of old materials and brilliant transformation from the working bog into a viable tourist attraction. its the great outdoors at it s best catering for the historian, wildlife lover, the environmentalist, art lover and fitness fanatic. great day out for one and all highly recommended.
Absolutely loved it. I had the best moments of my life here. Life changing experiance
Beautiful setting and really enjoyed lunch from The Organic Kitchen ....totally recommend a trip here
Realy nice place to visit great walks or cycles nice cafe.
Upon entry to the visitors center you are greeted by a wonderful lady called Lisa who is full of useful and entertaining information , a person truly passionate about the parklands and surrounding area .
We decided to visit last weekend, there are picnic benches in the vicinity of each of the carparks we cycled or drove by, as well as in the pavillion which is about a 15 minute walk into the park from the visitor center . We picniced in the main carpark where the tables are very private ,quiet and visited by lots of friendly small birds looking for crumbs .
We visited the sculpture park on the Saturday afternoon and took a leisurely stroll around the fairy walk in the woods (fantastic for children of all ages ) got some fantastic photos at the Celtic knot , learned about the various dry stone wall types from the different provinces at the gathering of stones and climbed to the top of the boora pyramid .
I'm into preserving our environment ,like art, and am an amatuer naturalist so had been looking forward to visiting Lough boora for awhile but wasn't sure my partner or her daughter of 11 would enjoy it as much as myself , imagine my surprise when they suggested we go back the following day and cycle around a larger portion of the park . While the art in the sculpture park might not be everybody's cup of tea I would be surprised if everyone did not find one piece that they like . Even if it's just seeing and climbing the pyramid , getting a view of the Lough boora monster (system no.30) from a seat in the "tippler bridge" or taking a contemplative moment in the boora triangle.
While in the park I took the opportunity to check out the bird hides in the wetlands for a future visit in the Autumn or winter .
There are plenty of information boards about the park and the history of bord na Mona at the site and environs and the work carried out , the walking path and cycle track are well signposted around the park .
Toilets are located in the visitors center and beside the pavillion in the park and were clean and stocked and there were disabled toilets in both locations .
There are fishing spots around the park and disabled fishing spots near the visitors center .
The cafe in the visitors center had a variety of snacks ice creams and cold drinks muffins tray bakes as well as serving hot food pizzas etc , teas and coffees also were available .
When we returned on the Sunday we hired bikes , a tandem and a mountain bike and visited the Mesolithic part of the bog and the area where the partridge are breeding and returned via the wetlands area. We had a lovely time and a leisurely cycle for just under two hours with plenty of stops along the way.
The bikes were well used but well maintained and more than adequate , the staff were terrific even when there wasn't a tandem available we went to the cafe and they came and told us when one became available . The bikes are very reasonably priced at 8euro an hour for the tandem and 5euro an hour for adults , they also had children's bikes , ladies bikes ,adult bikes with chairs for smaller children and bikes with trailers for children.
All in all Lough boora is a fantastic place to visit , the people who work there are friendly and knowledgeable, it is a beautiful part of the country and it's FREE , highly recommended and for extra fun and or exercise bring or rent a bike ,you won't regret it!
Great place to visit and lots of walks.
I was never a fan of straying too far away from the sea or the mountains but this place is nicely laid out with simple walking cycling routes, information and history of irelands peat harvesting. Perfect for nature watchers, anglers and explorers
Fantastic, free local amenity. Plenty of beautiful sights to take in. Would love to see it become more wheelchair accessible.
This is an amazing place to walk, run or cycle. The scenery is beautiful, lake with mountains in back ground.
The historic past of this area is amazing. Beautiful walks, sculptures and forests.
Its a wild life sanctury, with an exciting mix of birds inclding the grey patrich.
Great for a Sunday walk with the family.
Just disappointed no bikes and we had our grandchild with us on her holidays from Dublin, was looking forward to hiring a bike
Great experience. Cheap bike rental
Absolutely lovely place to visit. Highly recommended for all the family. Car park €4 and also bike hire available. But great for walking.
Absolutely beautiful park, loads of different routes to walk or cycle, plenty of artistic sculptures to admire, the fairy forest is a must see for kid's and a large pavilion to sit and relax in or have a picnic.
Beautiful Scenery/ Amazing sculptures could get lost for hours walking around , they have a visitor centre with coffee and food available, also rent out bikes to cycle around discovery park.
Excellently run park, very well maintained and easy to navigate around as there are plenty of onsite maps, peaceful surroundings in the morning time, so many different species of birds too, the best reserve ive been to so far 👍
Great place to get cool photos
You can have quite a long walk, but there's a shorter routes.. picnic places available...megalithic site disappointed, nothing interesting..good in overall..
Fantastic scenery cycle or walk in beautiful parklands
Great idea to put sculptures in the boglands. The paths are well maintained and the area just seems to be getting more and more popular. With a café offering food and drinks it's a great way to spend a sunny day, cycling or strolling around the park.
A lovely amenity to visit
Excellent child led fun had cycling and walking around this beautiful Bogland. Couldn't recommend this enough for anyone whether on their own, in a couple or with kids
Lough Boora is the perfect family day out. Located in Irelands Hidden Heartlands it is a little gem of natural beauty. There is plenty to see but bring your walking shoes. Miles of trails with stunning art installations and a fabulous fairy woodland for the children.
Really nice place. Ideal for a romantic picnic 😍
Great Park and beautiful cafe on the banks of one of the created lakes.
Fantastic area for a walk of all grades. Children will enjoy the shorter walk or you can rent bikes.
Really great day out, loads of space and nice easy cycling for the kids, worth the drive from wherever you are.
Lough Boora Parkland County Offaly Ireland is not just an animal wildlife park,it has stunningly beautiful trials ,amazing sculptures ,and some old historical bog trains,it is captivating, with animals such as turpins, seagulls, dragonflies, herons, deer and foxes, rabbits and hares to see. It is a wonderful place for all the family to enjoy. There is a small coffee shop with parking ,to sit and relax after you walk and look over the lake or pond at the ducks and other wildlife . For those that don't fancy walking there is also a bike rental shop on site, even with attachments for small children ,so they can sit back or fall asleep along the trials A little piece of heaven on earth. Totally enjoyable and wonderful place for all nature lovers as well as those whom love art. 5stars from me personally
Beautiful place, in both good and bad weather, young kids will love the fairy forest, and Thomas the tank engines, the older ones and parents will love the cycling and walking. The café is nice, but expensive!
Very nice
Interesting place.... I would say it was amazing 10years ago when set up... but it looks a bit tired now. Some of the "art" is weak... but some is great.... I suppose it's all in the eye of the beholder!!! Anyway 50km of cycle track is impressive ... maybe create a "green way"????
A definite must-see if visiting Ireland to get a unique artistic feel of the boggy Midlands and the industrial history to go along with it, now transformed into a sculpture park to mesmerise and entrance all the family. The fairy farm is the best of the children as well and can keep them occupied for hours
Lovely place to go for a walk or cycle with the family. Lots to see.
One of my favourite places to walk, particularly the fairy ring. Hired bikes this time, inexpensive and it was so chillaxing, will revisit!!
We had a lovely day here. Family friendly. Spotlessly clean. Staff very helpful and friendly. Good pricing for bike hire. Will definitely return
Beautiful place to visit. Lovely trails. We hired a tandem bike. Good fun.
Really great place to visit, plenty to see and do. Lovely food in coffee shop. Would recommend a visit.
Great place for a walk coffee and treats were excellent. Rent a bike all day for very little. Good all round spot.
Lovely place to spend time, you can rent out a bike which makes day even better
This place is so stunning, it's great for a day out with kids to get in touch with nature. Theres some great spots for picnics too
Great place to get out for a walk or cycle with lots to see. lovely for kids. Afterwards you can stop by the cafe for a coffee
Nice place with a good set of cycle paths, clean toilets and things to see, however, directions and flow unclear at the moment as they are trying to implement a one way system
Visited yesterday on what was a beautiful summer like day. Spent about 2 hours there and yet only got to see the tiniest fraction of what is there so I'm sure I will be back many more times. It's well worth the drive from Kildare.
Nice place for walk or drive on bike.
Great spot, beautiful forests and bike trails. Very friendly in the cafe and bike shop. Perfect for kids on their bikes !!!
Beautiful seinic walks and trails
Rare natural beauty, combined with art and history, makes this a wonderful place. After an hour and a half cycling through it, we found the coffee shop open, but so packed we gave up and drove to Shannon Bridge. The four euro parking charge in deepest winter is a bit mean and placement of the pay station obscure. However, we'll be back for the peace and beauty of the place. It was unfortunate that the bikes that are in bad repair, not even oiled and on which gears don't work. They only cost €5 per hour, but we were charged €20 for an hour and a half. Fair enough but fix up your bikes, especially as some of us are getting back up on a bike for the first time in years and gears would be handy.
Great walks but shocking the lack of respect for the Irish language.
Had a wonderful day had a great experience the staff at the cafe were amazing and the food was excellent the staff at the bike hire were very friendly and helpful
