F. O.We went to the 1919 upstairs and were truly impressed. The food was amazing, the service was great, the decor is very nice. We want to try everything on the menu so will be going back for sure.
It would be nice if the music upstairs was different to the downstairs music as there is a bit of a different atmosphere. That didn't fault our experience at all, nothing did.
We also got takeaway pizza and cocktails a week later. Absolutely amazing again, everything was perfect and delicious. Staff were very friendly and helped bring the drinks to our car.
Already counting down the days to go back again, definitely a family favourite.
B. R.We had a sort of dodgy roast dinner experience lately so big "roast anxiety on way in". Well that all disappeared in "five of your Earth seconds" as aliens were wont to say in Star Trek ( the old one 😁). The owners have constructed an outside gem beside the river. Somehow it contrives to be cosy but bright warm but airy. The service is great and "roast anxiety" utterly dispelled by fabulous roast dinner. The gardens are lovely but not so manicured as to be antiseptic. It's dog friendly and they have very kindly posted pooch guidelines outside. The toilets, well now, if there were toilet Oscars!! Can't wait to go back. 😁. Oh one thing, car park is across the road. Road is narrow but can be busy so be careful crossing.

M. B.I love this place. The pub is fine, but sitting outside in the back garden by the River Lee is the way to go. The parmesan truffle fries are absolutely fabulous. Great pizza oven makes the pizza very tasty. But again being outdoors, in a beautiful setting with great food and atmosphere is why I go.

L. G.Amazing food served up by fantastic staff. Got to see the new indoor dining section upstairs and so impressed. The layout is gorgeous and the seats are extremely comfortable (the mother's back was at her so this made her day). Have lived locally and I remember the Anglers Rest throughout the years, and what the latest owners have been able to do with the place is astounding. Our small local has become one of the best places to go for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a few drinks. It has it all. So proud of what our local has become. Get yourself in and find out what makes this place so special for yourself. ❤️

Latest visit Oct. 2021 & due to COVID19 we are still eating outdoors under the canopy.Booked for 7pm & some people are eating outside the canopy without heating

M. P.Love this place. Had been there for lunch twice. My last visit was over brunch and it didn’t disappoint. Pancakes were AMAZING! Kids still talk about the experience today. I’ll be back many many times 😃

A. L.While on the more pricey side of dining in Cork, it certainly earns it's keep with breathtaking plating and presentation, a warm and intimate setting and high quality ingredients. Cocktails were a little unusual and service slightly slow, but fine if you're looking for a relaxed and easy evening dining. Ordering from the 1919 menu for evening dining.
J. S.Haven't been here in years fid not disappoint. The Anglers is a must visit in my opinion if you're visiting Cork. It's a short hop from the city out the straight road and has ample parking in an idyllic setting.
The staff were super accommodating, friendly and helpful.
Will hopefully get to visit again soon.
L. R.The Anglers is as close to fine dining with a relaxed ambience and a beautiful view of the river that you can get! The pulled pork on Naan type roll was delightful. They have a temperature checker to enter so you can feel safe there is noone with a fever amongst you. Highly recommended for travelers to Cork city that want to experience a beautiful country setting with the quality of a nice restaurant in the city.
I. O.Best food around the Ballincollig area. There are some nice restaurants in this are - but the Anglers Rest is in a league of it it’s own. Make sure you prebook a table in advance for this place.
S. S.The slow cooked beef brisket was melt in the mouth delicious. My partner had the fish and chips with mushy peas which she was very happy with. Staff are friendly and attentive. Location is very attractive. We will be back.

Outdoor area is really nice, a lot of memories fishing at this spot as a young fella so it's nice to sit there now and enjoy the space. It's dog friendly but dogs are not allowed on the grass. That's an odd one because the grass isn't a lawn, but I didn't ask about it.
D. O.Grand place, The outdoor seating is fantastic with comfortable seating and warm heaters all around you. Service is fast but the menu is very limited and unimaginative especially since they've been using the same breakfast one for a year. Also portions are pretty terrible.

C. O.Lovely brunch menu, but no options for people who are gluten free. I wrote one person was gluten free when I booked online but no options were given, so she had a smoothie. Setting and location is lovely. Great menu for people who are not coeliacs.

What can I say that hasn't already been said....
From the greeting at the gate to the point where we settled up the bill and jumped in a taxi home it was professional and perfect.
We were brought to our table, despite being a sell out of a night, tables were comfortably spaced to allow for social distancing
You were able to enjoy conversation without being drowned out by hustle and bustle from other tables.
Variety on the menu catered for all patrons I personally got the burger which was cooked and seasoned to pure perfection
We also had a pizza at the table which was flawless. I recommend the black pudding one.
Who thought something as simple as pizza and a burger can be cooked presented and delivered to such a high standard.
The staff were flying it. A credit to the venue constantly moving ensuring every need was met.
I have awarded this place 5 stars based on food service and the experience as a whole.
By far the best venue we have to offer here. Id have given higher if was possible. Thank you all for making another covid birthday night out a total memorable evening.

N. M.Absolutely LOVE this spot. We were in town from Canada, visiting family and looking for a spot that would accommodate a family reunion with a busy 2 year old. They suggested we take the BBQ menu and sit outside on the terrace. Everything was delicious! The Anglers is right next to a body of water with a large fenced in green area for kids to run around in along with a kids playground. It's the perfect venue to go to for good food, service, views, and chatter. Super clean, modern and we will 100% return every year for our family reunion.
M. C.The food was fine, the surroundings lovely, but the staff appeared to have undergone no training in providing a basic service. Due to understaffing (?), getting the attention of a waiter, even to order the food, was laborious. After 90 minutes and 2 courses we decided to skip dessert and coffee. If you have plenty of time on your hands, and have no children with you, it is a lovely place for lunch. You can stroll along the river during courses, a beautifully maintained area at the rear, and safe for children.

B. M.Turned up on the door without a booking. Family of 5. No tables available but we were invited in to have a drink and to see if a table would free. 30 minutes later we were show to our table. Fantastic food and service. My wife got a curry which was so large she could not finish it. She asked to bring it home. When the waitress came back after ten minutes with the box, she apologised for the wait as she explained that my wife’s curry had been thrown out and the chief made a fresh curry from scratch for my wife. Nice touch

J. O.The new look is absolutely amazing. It has some very good bar staff inside there. One thing I did find was that it was a bit difficult to get an order in for food and where in particular I needed to go to order, but that is probably just because there is a lot of new staff there and will probably not be an issue next time. I will update the review to a 5 star based on that, the next time I'm there. I will definitely be going again.

B. S.This place was stunning. Beautiful, picturesque view of the rolling hills in the background. You can opt to sit way down the back outside and benefit from the sounds of the river underneath. There's also a lovely heated area closer to the restaurant itself.
The food was gorgeous, plentiful and reasonably priced for what you're getting. Staff were lovely. Looking forward to heading back someday!

C. B.My husband and I had a brilliant time at the Anglers Bar and Restaurant. The staff were very friendly and very attentive. The food was delicious But... On my way out I visited the ladies restroom and unfortunately it wasn't a good experience... I checked the card on the wall which was signed at 20.00pm..my visit was approx 10 minutes later... A deep clean of the toilet seats are required and some sort of air freshener wouldn't go amiss, other than that we really enjoyed our visit

Oh I forgot to update the review at the time ❣We had my daughters confirmation here they accommodated for our large immediate family of 8 covid rules at the time . IT was so relaxing gorgeous weather, we were outdoors under a tent & sure we were seated there the whole time so it was perfect ⛺. It was just perfect other families were there from our school just by chance & all the kids had a green play area to go over to & have a bit of fun.I'd highly recommended 😀. They actually gave my daughter a card on arrival with a surprise in it ❣I don't want to ruin the surprise incase it varies❣💯 The staff couldn't do enough for us they were amazing.The food was gorgeous we had a great variety at our table a bit of everything compliments of Nan & Granda for my daughters special day & of course dessert to top it off for everyone .One or two had cocktails 🍸😜they were pricey .overall staff were amazing smiling & bubbly. There was a temperature check on arrival masks 😷until you got to your seat & because of the outdoors you could relax more then 😉 as your with your own family members .its never too packed they keep it 💯low numbers nice & safe but great atmosphere 👌
M. M.This is a superb spot. Food is always great. Decor and ambience is of the highest quality. Their weekend breakfast is delicious especially the duck and black pudding. I wouldn’t pay too much notice to most of the critical reviews, the service is usually really good. It’s generally busy (which is a good sign in itself) so sometimes there may be a bit of a wait- no big deal.

L. K.By far my favourite place for food and drinks in Cork. The food is just devine and very good quality produce, with a quick service time. The cocktail menu is quite large and varied and the atmosphere is stunning. The host and owners made us feel very welcome and we have booked a table there every weekend since it has opened because we have enjoyed it so much! 100% worth the visit.

The lunch menu is a bit safe and consisting of sandwiches. Stuck for something, I ordered the cob salad. It looked great and tasted better, absolutely delicious in fact.

c. W.It was our second family gathering out. Both times , the service let it down. Put it down to only been back up and running the first time. We waited over 1 hr and 10 mins for our mains and kids dinners. Which they asked would they bring out with the starters.
The amenities, location and venue has massive potential., but is let down by poorly trained servers and management. Small things like no condiments with your meals. Every drink order was wrong. Pity as otherwise is great location for kids and familys with the big green area.

I just wanted something quick and light so I went for a toasted sandwich with a pot of tea and it was delicious and served with a smile.
It is a very spacious bar with a large outdoor terrace area and a kids centre for your kids to play while you have your meal all in all it's a place to suit everyone.

Our waiter was so pleasant and had a great sense of humor dealing with a table of indecisive ladies. Food was scrumptious and plenty of it, not short on non-alcoholic beverages to wet the palate.... All in all a great night had by all and we will be back...🥂🍾

E. C.The new Anglers Rest is a triumph. Beautiful if somewhat isolated location, very pretty decor, v friendly staff and great food. A totally transformed experience. They've also created some child friendly space outside, they've fenced off the river xx and also created a smoker friendly area outside that is covered and headed. The furniture is big, wooden, should and natural.
Highly recommended.
It's location does make it slightly more awkward to get to than other places... Drink driving laws being what they are. Perhaps some form of shuttle bus to the city would greatly enhance it's attractiveness to those who want a few beers and an afternoon by the river, ideally in the sunshine!!

The burger itself was nice, chicken, in chicken supreme wasn't crispy, white beans bit tough, pudding in this dish was great. I wouldn't recommend this place for Bank Holiday dinner.

J. N.Interior and Exterior are beautifully refurbished. Menu was disappointing as only one Vegetarian option and it was bland and uninteresting. The salads were bland also and none were vegetarian. lf you're looking for something that's healthy but tasty don't go. If you want fish+chips or greasy burger and chips then this place is for you. We rang ahead to book and were told 4 times we couldn't book. Then walked in and saw lots of tables reserved. When asked we were told it was for family of staff. Then my friend who tried to call and book got a phone call from the venue, while we were in the venue, asking why we hadn't arrived for our table. To which she answered that we were already there and had to ask for a table as we'd been told on the phone and in person that we couldn't book. Lots of staff but no one seems assigned to any areas and we had about 8 different waiters over the course of the meal and there didn't seem to be any communication between them. There were a few manager looking people around but I didn't see them once talk to the staff or give direction so everyone seemed a bit lost and confused. Teething problems aside refresh of the menu to include some seasonal, modern and healthy options as well as some clear organisation and direction from management and the place would be super.
