A beautiful wee pub, very pleasant staff. Covid guidelines adhered to. The food was amazing, haven't tasted steak as good in a long time! Mum tried the seafood chowder- divine. And then the deserts- choc fudge cake with hot chocolate sauce , ice cream and fresh cream. Heavenly. Can't wait to go back, nice clean fresh place, fab food great staff eat inside or out.

A beautiful small village full of life plenty of visitors either just coming back from their hike or locals having their lunch in the many eateries. The welcome and atmosphere upon arrival were average. Allowing for moral and clientele being low due to covid we decided to stay. The starters of chowder were delicious and justified the decision to dine here. The main course of hot and cold sea food platter we really did not like. The cold elements did not seem at place on this dish. This was a personal feeling, others may really like it. I would like to have seen calamari and mussels in this dish or anywhere on the menu. The whole experience was ok. There is room to easily make it a more significant venue. Spruce up the decor, give the staff a bit of oomph to the welcome. Not sorry i came but not sure I'd return.

Had a meal here for New year's eve and it was nothing short of top class. The food and service we received was exceptional. Also the staff were extremely welcoming and attentive through out our stay. They were able to handle our large reservation with no delays at all. Because the food and service was so good we also went here for breakfast on New year's day. I would have no reservations recommending the Carlingford Arms to anyone for some drinks and especially very good quality meals.

We arrived on a very busy Sunday evening , 8pmish (2 adults & 3 young teens) without a reservation. With covid restrictions in place, there was no availability. However, they took our number & rang us back within a few minutes & got us a reservation. The food was very good but what won it for me was the amazing level of service. All the staff were AMAZING, so friendly & especially the young man who served us (sorry i didn't get his name) was so helpful. We were truly made feel like VIPs. 👏👏👏👏👏🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I personally thought the portion of the dinner I had was small for the price that was paid. So I came back to see if I had improved. This time, I had a different experience. Staff were very helpful, and I had the cod and chips, and the portion was quite big. The only thing now is the decor, it needs updating. Carpets need refreshing, and a link of paint wouldn't go a miss

One of the reasons that people visit this country is for the great welcome that only the Irish know how to give . This welcome is particularly noticeable in a pub with well trained staff who go the extra mile to make you feel that they are actually happy to see you and also happy that you selected the pub that they work in to enjoy a drink. Not every pub will give you this welcome but be assured that the Carlingford arms won't disappoint . We were greeted by Sarah who turned out to be not only attentive to our needs , even when things got really busy , but was also a wonderful source of local knowledge . Since we had already eaten we didn't try the restaurant part of the pub but if the food quality is anything like the quality of bar service I feel we won't be disappointed when trying it on our next visit. Carlingford is a quaint little village which is buzzing with activity at the weekend and with a selection of establishments offering fresh local produce and everything in walking distance it is truly a hidden gem worth visiting .

For me it' s lovely, as far natives are there. Typical, familiar Irish atmosphere with very polite and supportive service. You feel hungry but are looking also for taste (in the middle segment), you are right here. And they are ready for a surprise, also. Background music emphasizes the smooth atmosphere and is not obtrusive.

Brilliant! Just a fantastic vibe, Saturday night bit busy but the staff are doing their nut to do the best they can and it's excellent! Quick service, gorgeous food, the prices might look abit steep at first but when you get your food you will forget all about it. Way more than the average "pub grub" and table service in the bar. This is everything you want in an Irish pub experience, relaxed, pleasant atmosphere, friendly welcome chat from travellers and locals alike. Really good beer and drink options and excellent Gastro-Pub food. Highly recommended, right in the heart of this beautiful historical medieval town. No matter what time of year the experiences I have had in this pub I have no hesitation in recommending this to every visitor to this lovely understated part of Ireland.

I have only been here once, so I can only review based on that experience. It was early January, it was cold, and it looked like a good place to grab a soup and a sandwich. The interior is really rustic, with a few modern touches. The Christmas lighting was still up, so there was a really nice atmosphere inside. Our order was taken straight away, but we waited quite some time for the food to arrive, which surprised us as it was just a simple order. However, the manager came over and apologised, and we were given a free sandwich and a coffee. All in all, despite the long wait, I would definitely go back, just to sample the rusticness (if that's a word) again. Places like this are disappearing, so we should enjoy them while they are still here.

Carlingford is a lovely Irish town on the west coast of Ireland. The scenery is beautiful, this is one of the places I always visit when I am down there. The place does amazing food and the atmosphere is fantastic!

A gastronomic delight situated in the main square in Carlingford. The staff are very friendly and professional. Calm atmosphere, and wonderful interior design in keeping with the maritime history of Carlingford. A well presented menu (available online) and meals cooked to perfection. There is a lounge bar to relax in with a post-dinner drink and live Irish music to entertain. Bathrooms were very clean, tastefully presented, and well stocked. There is a disabled entrance and a wheelchair ramp in the restaurant. The Carlingford Arms is very inclusive.

Typical Irish pubs. Very fresh and excellent quality fish.

Very cozy restaurant with good service. We had fish (as you absolutely have to order given the location). The food (salmon) was very well prepared, one star deducted only because of balsamic as a decoration on the plate, a tomato sauce that didn't really match the dish and the unsuitable bechamel sauce over the (fresh) vegetables. Sometimes less is simply more and would have been given the fifth star. The fish was excellently fried and also very fresh. Always my pleasure.

What a delicious sirloin we ate in this pub, perfectly cooked and to the point we each ordered. And the accompaniment with sauce and potatoes... How good!
