We stayed for one night with our cocker spaniel Miles. We were very impressed with everything.
The staff were incredibly friendly and checked us in to our room early. The room is comfortable and has a good shower and comfortable bed.
We ate 3 meals (late lunch, dinner and breakfast). All three were good. They have good vegetarian options. Would happily recommend this as a stopping point to anyone doing the Wild Atlantic Way.

The room:
Absolutely perfect & dog friendly. Their double bed lodge sports a lovely warm feel inside with a very comfy bed. Their bathroom is stylish and the water temperature & pressure was fantastic.
The food:
My partner is a vegetarian and they accommodated this with a fantastic Linguine pasta dish with a tomato based sauce that was to die for. Simply delicious.
I had the catch of the day which was Cod, coated in beer batter and deep fried with chips. It was indeed the freshest tasting fish I've had and the batter was cooked impeccably.
The atmosphere:
There was live music, a great crowd and the staff are very friendly and accommodating.
The catches:
The WiFi is dreadful, there is ZERO mobile coverage which isn't to the fault of the Rusty Mackerel, obviously, however what makes this a dangerous problem is due to the fact that after the bar closes there is absolutely NO ONE from the staff staying around until the bar re-opens at around 8am. It's just patrons in the premises until then. This is incredibly unprofessional and unsafe. If there was an emergency, no one would be able to get the help they needed. Hence why I'm giving 3 stars. If this was to change, I would gladly change this to a 5 star rating because it can't be faulted otherwise. It wouldn't be hard to hire a night porter.

We were staining here only one night, but it will definitely be the place to come back. The room was very clean and the very comfortable bed. The food was absolutely delicious! And the staff in the restaurant was very friendly. Made us feel like home. Thank you very much!

Nice food, I got a nice design on my pint of Guinness. Looks like a cosy spot when you walk in but it was quite cold in the eating area though.

Knew this place would be good as we drove past. Such a buzz about it. Amazing to sit outside on a beautiful sunny day. The staff were so attentive and the food was incredible. I got the Seafood Platter for starters and the Chicken and Bacon Lardon Linguine for mains. Both were beautiful. I don't often opt for seafood but this is the place to try it. Will definitely be back when we're next in Donegal for a visit!

Lovely wee bar, good honest food and a lovely pint of stout.

Very touristy. Did not find the food stand to its announced reputation. Not the cozy pub.
3 star for the outside paint

Service was first class: very friendly and attentive. Good selection on menu, although it does appear the popular stuff does go fast. Couple of veggie options too. Prices were really reasonable. The food? OMG I have never tasted food like it! Flavours were amazing! Also were able to get the Rusty bus back to our B&B for a few €.
Highly recommend stopping here at least once if you're in the area. And it's busy so you may need to book a table.
Thanks guys! Keep up the good work, and stay safe.
