j. w.This is one of the most authentic and interesting pubs in Ireland. The name comes from the old hand ball alley at the back. An ancient Irish sport rarely played now, it is a part of history. There are also some very interesting photos on the walls with some famous Irish figures that might be hard to make out at first sight. The bar is mainly frequented by charming locals who freely share their wit with you and it is tendered by the nicest people you could meet. This pub is definitely worth a detour, if it was in a city it would be world famous and probably spoilt.

D. O.The pub is like stepping back in time. Cozy rooms and a roaring fire. The owner was lovely. She made us feel so welcome. And, lovely beer garden out the back was a lovely surprise. Will definitely go again!
