Reviews of Simon Lambert & Sons

Lovely bar with a good selection of beers on draught. Seating option indoors and outdoor. The bar has many photos of Wexford in bygone days and by the staircase there are plenty of relics from the Wexford Opera Festival. Well worth a visit.

One of wexford best traditional pubs
H. M.
Soup and sambo. Lovely warm surroundings on a cold day. Service quick. Lots of people mainly having lunch. Will be back soon
G. W.
The outside does not give away it's wonderfully decorated interior. In fact I reckon you'd almost walk past it - much to my delight on this occasion we didn't! Greeted by a veritable army of Taps with all sorts of wonderful ales, stouts lagers and more my little heart was soaring 😂😂
Brilliant place. Food looks good although we didn't have any - also covered outside smoking area which is heated. Wonderful spot for a laugh with mates.
A. R.
Great craft beer from Yellow Belly Brewery in the heart of Wexford Town. The tasting board was great way to sample different brews, this was followed by a lovely pulled pork burger 😋
d.
Excellent pub pouring their own Yellowbelly ales and beers and a good choice of guest beers.
The Oatmeal stout was superb.
C. B. O. S.
Fantastic gastropub, amazing staff, so friendly and helpful and the food is incredible would 100% recommend!
M. D.
Friendly staff but dining on the street is not as pleasant as I imagined. I understand its due to covid and that all restaurants and bars are doing their best.
L. F.
Great food and wonderful staff couldn't do enough would eat here again
P. S.
Truly enjoyed visiting here. The barman was very friendly and willing to tell us about the pub and local life, and the beers produced at this brew pub were outstanding. We stopped here for lunch and enjoyed it so much that we came back for a couple of brews while waiting for our train back to Dublin
k. b.
Nice food friendly staff live music on the street enjoyable 😍
T. C.
Great craft beer bar in the heart of Wexford.
D. F.
This place is a nice spot for a fairly quiet drink with a few friends. Some interesting craft beers to be tried and some friendly staff to serve you them. It's a small enough bar but it's a nice one none the less. I would suggest it as a bar for a slightly older group.
P. D.
Class spot, great service and great beers

The best place in Wexford Town for craft beers. This pub is mainly known for its creation of the Yellow Belly beer to which it is right to be. The owners of this place are unique in their thinking and ideas and very creative. It might be hard to order a pint of Heineken in here but don't be afraid to try their own range as its big enough to cover everyones options. The smoking area is unique in the decorating of it as its based around the distillery side of the business. The place is also known for its creative idea of the half pint glass which can be seen below.
A. T.
A real home from home! Always a great welcome, finest food in Wexford and as for the own-brand Yellow Belly beer and their Cuban rum selection, no place I would rather be! Simon and the team are the ones that make it the great pub that it is! Adrian
M. A. B.
Really tasty burgers and even tastier pints of Yellowbelly craft beer!!
D. F.
We eat here twice on our break in Wexford and on both occasions the food was delicious. There are a number of vegetarian options and the menus can be adapted if you ask. The locally brewed YellowBelly beer is also well worth trying.
The only thing to be aware of is that they stop serving food at 4pm so it's really only suitable for lunch.
S. D.
Had a lovely big lunch here which was delicious. They serve yellow belly craft beer and a few others. Guinness wasn't bad either.
M. F. S.
Calm, laid back, relaxing atmosphere.
Lighting just right. Decor sends out comfortable vibes. Smoking room is spacious, kept warm & old brewing tanks on display. Current owners, sons of the late Simon Lambert, used to brew beer in the basement beneath the pub. Now, they brew elsewhere within Wexford town.
I had the pleasure of tasting 3 different lagers there. I chose CASTAWAY - a lager made with passionfruit - I tell you I sunk it down quare fast!! It's a beautifully delicious lager!! A1 establishment!!!!! YELLOW BELLIES 💜💛🙋♀️

While strolling down Main Street just after I arrived in Wexford , Looked into a very friendly and inviting pub and became totally relaxed and decided to try a craft beer that was totally new to me…I ordered a Yellowbelly Citra Pale Ale and was very pleasantly impressed…usually I drink a darker ale, but I believe I have expanded my horizons..
K. F.
This is a nice wee place to go for a few pints and maybe a bite to eat. It's a small and narrow pub. There's not much seating. No atmosphere. Me,the wife, and our 2 kids ended up here looking for some grub.
We sat inside for some cooked food.
The prices of their food in the evenings are ridiculous.
€13.90 for 2 beef tacos and no chips.
Chips were €4.50 extra.
€13.50 for a plain chicken burger and no chips.
Chips were €4.50 extra.
€13.50 for a plain Kids Cheese burger.
Again, no chips as they cost €4.50 extra.
And then €14 for 6 pieces of battered chicken nuggets and chips, for the youngest kid.
This is one dear whole of a place. I wouldn't go back here, just because of their prices.
F. K.
Great establishment, I have watched it develop over many a year. A great gastropods with many craft beers on tap, including their very special selection of own craft beer (Yellowbelly). They have regular guest beers on offer. This was the original place to brew Yellowbelly but this operation has moved to Pembroketown. We'll worth a visit at anytime, even just for the 🍻 beer.
Update...returned,stupid me after a year..went for Sunday lunch...never will I leave it so long to return to this gastropods, smoke House ale den...food a total smash..in a good way, it was short rib beef ,meat fell off the bone. It should be on their main menu...Yep that good. Staff were very helpful and unobtrusive.,service extremely quick. Check times of opening with management as there has been confusion with Google Maps.Defoe check this establishment out.

Had lunch with drinks here on Saturday afternoon. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. We got a table with no issues, enjoyed some of their craft beers and wine on tap. I had their buttermilk chicken burger which was divine. The burger and chips with a pint was just under 20 euro. Fab food, great service, great venue, will definitely return.
A. B.
We’ve been here a few times and the barbecue menu is to die for(available from 4pm to 9 pm, Thu to Sat).
Super tasty food, pumped with great flavours and good portions. Also great ambiance and on point service.
The ribs are very juicy, great Guinness glaze.
Absolutely love the corn side which comes with a nice seasoning on top.
The fried chicken and the smash burgers have great layers of juicy meat, crispiness, cheese, pickle and sauce.
P. S.
We found this place on Google we went in for a sandwich and chips it was really good food and staff were very affiicent and nice very quick service we weren't waiting long on it.will definitely go there again.
s. f.
Lovely food, very friendly staff had a small bite for lunch, staff were very friendly, the bread with the soup was homemade, we asked where to get it,
P. M.
Friendly efficient staff place has charm and is welcoming ideally based on the main St the food is excellent and mug of coffee a treat and it's so clean and nothing seems out of place would highly recommend will definitely do well in the upcoming fleadh it deserves to do so as it is a icon of wexford having traded successfully for such a long period and kept up the same level of service
B. D.
Food wasn't great as we were recommend this place by a few of the locals, rib meat could have been done for alot longer, no falling off the bones on our visit anyways.
G.
Great fresh craft beers and a brisket sandwich to die for!
j. s.
Had dinner here on a very busy evening and the staff still had everything well under control. The food was good quality and cooked beautifully.

This was our second visits to Simon Lamberts for the BBQ and it can't be faulted.
Food is amazing! Lovely atmosphere inside and so many different drinks available
L. K.
It was our first time in Simons for the Bbq. It was really lovely. I got the Chicken special. My Husband had the Pulled pork plate and our daughter had the Wings plate. There was a great crowd in. It was a lovely night for us
R.
This was the best burger I've ever had. Delicious
G. H.
Any visit I've made it's been rather dull and lacking atmosphere
m. C.

Yum! Went here for Lunch a few weeks ago with my Sister who had recommended it having had breakfast there. I had the most delicious pulled pork sandwich with an amazing apple based sauce on . The hostess was lovely and so welcoming plus I just love the chilled out vibe and decor. Going back today!
K. E.
This is a fantastic eatery and bar . Personally I think outside it needs to let people on the street know how amazing it is and what it offers once you walk through the doors . From the outside if you didn’t know of it you wouldn’t really know it serves such amazing food we walked past it for two days even though smokehouse is painted on the wall we didn’t see it which we regret. Walk inside and you see the most beautiful characterful bar and then after you go wow… you smell it , that real smokehouse smell . You’re greeted by friendly cool happy staff and seated where you prefer. Walk around this bar of beautiful old school design and amazing pics and drawings before you sit and pick some of the most amazing food we’ve had . I had the 16 hour smoked brisket in brioche it was melt in the mouth and pip had the smash burger she said it was the best she’s had we had a side of Cajun fries every mouthful was sensational . This is a food destination bar . 5out of 5 easy . I wouldn’t change a thing inside but let people know what you do outside so we wouldn’t have missed two days eating amazing food 😂😂
d. m.
A lovely pub for a few pints.
I.
We've walked past here numerous times when visiting wexford & I'm so happy a friend recommended here for us this time around while we were in town. The burgers are delicious both were equally as good as each other that we had. Really lovely cosy atmosphere and setting in here. Staff were very efficient
M. B.
You absolutely must go to this pub on a smoked meat night!!! Delicious menu, interesting beer, good value for money, and a great vibe. We loved it so much, we went 2 nights in a row.
M. C. H.
This is the best pub in the south-east of Ireland. The beer selection is fantastic, being the birth place of Citra. The food is amazing and the staff couldn't be any nicer. Really recommended if you're around Wexford.
S. B.
Lovely backyard. Excellent beer flights.
D. B.
Cannot comment on the food as we came in here for drinks, loved the Yellowbelly pint.
Great location with a good drink and food selection. The plates we saw going out to tables looked great and will try their food next time I'm in Wexford.
W. E.
Dropped in here last night with 18 hungry men on our Stag night, the staff and food were all first class. Ribs/ Wings/ Burgers were all great. Check out their Smash Burger, savage. 👏

Probably the best bar we went to (so far) in Ireland. Kind regulars, SIMON IS THE BEST!!! Thank you so much.
A. D.
The brisket sandwich was really good. And local IPA as well.
D. B.

J. D.
Loved it!
F. D.
Got food there. Brilliant food and staff very friendly
E. H.
What a find.... Great place to chill out, fab selection of drinks.
A. C.
Seventy euros seems to be the standard here in Wexford when four of you go out. Four courses, a beer/drink each and peace.
Excellent sandwiches well served, lots of properly poured beers, a nice environment and very friendly and smiling staff.
Really a nice place to spend the evening.
The fried potatoes are not very good (they seemed to have been fried for a while and then kept warm), but the homemade habanero and pineapple sauce is spectacular!! Even the hot dog for Italian standards was really very very good.
Highly recommended!
A. D.
Great pub, great service and we would love to come back 🙂👍
i.
Very cool place, delicious food
A. C.
Place with a great atmosphere. There was no table available at the time and they took you to a very comfortable room to have a drink and see the menu. The food was spectacular, the BBC smash burger was a fantasy. The treatment despite my 5-level English ☺️, phenomenal, but that is common throughout Ireland. 100% recommended if you visit Wexford.
l. K.
All very good I recommend it
