J. M.Great spot for a bite to eat. Good proper food well down. Very friendly staff, the place is clean. Kids love the hats on ceiling and have left hats there which is a bit of fun. Recommended.
G. W.Been to The Snailbox a couple of times and the food is delicious. Staff are great and service is excellent . Only thing was the Thai green curry doesn’t taste like a classic Thai curry. I had prawn stir fry and was very nice. Spectacular views up there when you visit. Would recommend.

S. R.You can't mention the snailbox without mentioning the decor. The hats are brilliant and there are so many. It's a really fun place to eat, and the idea of swapping your own hats for snailbox ones is great.
The food was generally quite good, the soup and brie starters were delicious and the sticky toffee pudding was amazing! The lil chocolate cups holding the ice cream were so cute.
The only disappointment was the sirloin steak, it was very tough and quite difficult to eat. That said the fillet steak was lovely.

We were pleasantly surprised at the look of the restaurant and the way it was organized for our Irish Weather with big strong canopies set up for dining outside.. The first thing we both liked was the piped music with easy listening sounds playing all the time we were there .. We were welcomed by the friendly staff who showed us to our seat . When I asked to change to a table I preferred. That was ok with them .Paddy ordered the Vegetable Soup and the Classic Burger for mains . I chose the Caesar Salad and Sirloin Steak medium rare ...
I have to commend them in the most scrumptious Caesar Salad I have ever eat
It was the starter size and was huge. Halway through I was going to ask the waitress to cancel my steak .. I'm glad I didn't as my steak was done to perfection.. The side order of baby potatoes topped white sauce and cheese was delicious. My husband's soup was lovely and he said his burger was so tasty
A beautiful meal all round served by helpful staff where nothing was a problem to them . A winning combination. .
This might have been our first trip to The Snalbox . BUT .
It certainly won't be our last.
And very reasonably priced .

R. R.A nice choice for a relaxing dinner. The setting is in such a way that it feels a bit cramped and would take a few minutes to get used to. Very unique decoration with all the caps in the ceiling. Loads of tables but fully packed on weekends. So reserve a table beforehand. Nice location with ample parking. Food was great with a slight variation from regular menu which was refreshing. Friendly staff.

p. s.Had a lovely evening last Saturday ,it has been a while since we visited and we got such and great welcome off Stephen and owner Philip was over chatting seeing how we were doing and during the meal too,we brother a cap from a friend's cousins bar in Canada the Barley Mow,so Philip brought my son Peter and I into the bar for a photo with the Barley Mow cap on pulling a pint and gave us a Snailbox cap to send to Canada.Food was absolutely gorgeous,I had the sirloin steak ,my wife had the stir fry,daughter had the burger and son had the nuggets but and adult portion the where homemade like chicken chunks he was delighted ,the desserts were lovely too baileys cheese and the whipped ice cream.with malteasers, everything we had was smashing,would highly recommend a visit.

Staff very friendly, customers appeared happy and great vibe about the place.....will definitely return- so glad they have taken a stance against discrimination and are not being divisive and segregating vaccinated and unvaccinated. H. K.Visited the Snail box with my wife and another couple for the first time today, Sunday the 4th. of July. We arrived a good bit before the time we had booked for, so had a drink in a separate area from the dining area. We informed the member of staff of our booking and he said he would come get us when our table was ready. This he surly did and escorted us to our table. A second member of staff promptly approached us with menus. After we ordered our food was delivered quickly and it was piping hot. Myself and my wife had the chicken stir fry. And the other couple had the hand crafted burgers. All of us were in agreement that the food was delicious and we would certainly return. As we were waiting for our bill we got chatting with one of the staff (Who we later found out was the owners son) about the hat collection. He called his father over to tell us about it, which he did. We had a very pleasant chat with him and I even ended up exchanging caps with him!! The only one regret the 4 of us had about our trip to the Snail box was the fact that due to Covid restrictions we couldn't experience the place inside. But rest assured, we will as soon as indoor dining is permitted again. So a big "Thank you" to the owner Philip and his friendly staff for an enjoyable experience. Hope to visit again soon.

l. f.Friend and myself went in on speck today just wanted a lite snack we were both welcomed so warmly as was our little dog whom they brought water for immediately as it was very warm, we were seated outside in the garden as we had the dog but it was beautiful and amazing views, I ordered the chicken ceassr salad from the starter menu as we were in a hurry and it was absolutely delicious, made perfectly with exactly the right amount of dressing and the lettuce was fresh and crispy as it should be, I will say it was probably the nicest I have had in years, service was perfect to thank you so much we will be back

Three of us had different meals and each remarked about the portion size and quality. The prices are reasonable enough but when you factor in the meal itself then it is well worth a visit. Thanks to all the staff we had a lovely afternoon.

All staff especially the owner were friendly, attentive, polite and on top of their game at all times. The seats outside were an added bonus to enjoy the good weather. We will definitely return.

K. A.The Snailbox is one of our absolute favourite restaurants. The welcome...where do you start it's warm , friendly. Very old school Irish which is simply fantastic. There is craic & banter & lots of fun - and that's only when you get in the door!! The food is always top notch. Local butchers & suppliers provide the meats & produce & this is listed on the menu. Service is always prompt. You certainly won't find yourself waiting unnecessarily here. The decor is that of an old fashioned pub with wooden beams overhead & several fires dotted around which are fantastic in the winter months. There are function rooms and nooks and crannies for larger groups. Going here is always excellent. And the ice cream is TO DIE FOR. Whipped ice cream with any kind of toppings your heart desires. My favourite is the rum & raisin. Simply put. Go visit this fantastic pub and restaurant.

I had a chance to eat out as there was a brilliant spring sun at the day of my visit so I can’t say anything about the interior of this place. Food was delicious and vast variety of it in the menu. We were there with a quite big party so I could see and taste quite a lot at that day. Dishes was served beautifully and taste was also amazing. I definitely recommend this place - despite the business we were served promptly.

P. M.Food here is always top drawer. Prices are high at first glance but the quality of the food is amazing. Great staff, very attentive and waiting times are surprisingly short even at peak times. This restaurant is busy for a reason. Recommended for a good night out or family meal. They'll even drop you home if you live within a reasonable distance. Best steaks within a considerable radius.
L. M.Visited last night and i can't thank the staff and management enough for their help and kindness. I was met by a very helpfull gentleman at reception. We needed to use the disability entrance and when he knew what our needs were we were given a table so quickly despite how busy the staff were and how full the restaurant was we were assisted to our table and the disability toilet is a very good size with baby changing facility also. When we were leaving a very kind gentlemen ( I'm not sure if he was the manager or a staff member) but he linked the gentleman that was with us and helped him out, down the ramp and assisted him into the car, we had two young babies with us also so this was a great help to us and would encourage us to go out more often when we meet such kind people like this. The food was excellent and all served very quickly. Hungry baby was served instantly. Thank you very much everyone we will come again. Keep the good work up 😊

It seems potatoes can only be chipped or boiled. We had 4 mains (steak curry burger and pasta) 4 desserts (simple icream) along with 5 sodas this came to €109. So cost is about average.

Owner kept coming to our table and even gave us a free hat so that he could take out photo. We are from South Carolina and he hopes we will send him a hat from there. Showed us a North Carolina Tarheels hat he had just received. There are ball caps all over the ceiling. We had some beer, wine and several starters and entrees. No complaints from anyone. The garlic stuffed mushrooms were very good. Portion sizes were great... Desserts looked wonderful, but we were all too stuffed to sample.

B.Hard to believe 30 yrs married to the woman of my dreams so quick but so wonderful and she gave me a wonderful plus one....our son now 27 and last year she bought me a wonderful pup life dosen't get better until of course we decided to be low key about our anniversary and decided to go for dinner in a place we never went to before although constantly drove by it for years never had the urge until today 7th May. To be honest when we drove in I was not expecting much although the view looking towards Slane was amazing and I thought to myself maybe this is the best it has to offer that soon changed as we walked in the door all of a sudden there was an air of "what took you so long didn't you know we were expecting you?" All I can say is that it was welcoming and warm genuinely we were shown our booth as they say and then the ambience of the place started to show itself off. The decor is eclectic with old fashioned advertising, old mirrors, odds and ends oh yes and baseball caps hanging from the ceiling about 5000 of them a d they are trying to break the Guinness world record. All tastefully done hanging from the ceiling an idea acciddntly started by a customer leaving his cap behind which is still there. Another good thing about the caps is that they act like a sound suppressant and give the restaurant that snug feel about it even children who may get a bit excited their precious excited high pitched voices are quietened a bit (take note Donkey Shed) The staff are remarkable and I've noticed a highrank system of sorts guys in black are the privates and the guys in blue are the lieutenants and one of the guys in blue is the Commanding Officer and he knows he ship. Then of course there is his number 1 all military like but the staff seem to be enjoying what they do even the music although it goes around in a loop some of the staff will start humming the song before it starts obvious there a while which is good as they must enjoy being there and it showed by the way the treated us and other visitors. The food is another story good wholesome value for money please try the blackpuding starter and man can they cook a burger and the steaks are mouth watering melt in you mouth chunks of beef. They knew nothing of our milestone of 30 years but they treated us as if they did as they did other guests. The Donkey Shed was our local haunt and don't get me wrong they are amazing too but these guys are better and I don't feel guilty when I leave seeing the next victims walking around the farm without a care in the world but I've read animal farm and I know what they are thinking. Snailbox is a gem with a little bit of history involving the name and a hedge school teacher a quaint tradition with caps great food and above all great great staff. Seriously get a table facing the till or coffee area and watch them run this place in military fashion and have the craic with each other and see which one wears black patent shoes. We can't wait to go back and try breakfast real soon. On a good morning we will have breakfast outside and bring our dog Teddy he loves sausages but before you ask he can't say sausages.By the way the view was not the highlight but it was stunning and a nice introduction to the Snailbox.

D.The food is out of this world.Ive ordered beef stew and the portion and taste was just fantastic.The amount of good quality beef in stew was like 1pound of pure tasty melting in your mouth beef plus creamy mash potatoes.Just heaven.You couldn't ask for better customer service.Kids friendly place and very understanding and helpfull especially with special needs kids as one of our boys is autistic and at times could be handful.There was no hassle at all.The Snailbox is based on a hill so the view of surrounding landscape is breathtaking.Huge carpark with handicap spots.I recommended this place 100%. and definitely will be back there.20minutes drive from Dublin.
