N. B.Quite expensive but an excellent experience. Well located, lovely decor. Tables quite private given layout of the place. Staff friendly with an excellent lady in charge of our table - friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. Kids menu was one of the best I've ever seen and very reasonably priced too. Food was excellent - refined and sophisticated but not in ridiculously small portions either. Perhaps we ordered our wines badly but neither of the 2 bottles (both around €35) were particularly memorable - not sure if that's the list or if we chose badly. But overall a fine dining experience - if it's within budget I'd definitely recommend it.

B. G.We had a fabulous meal here on Friday. A friend and I went and I can’t say anything negative about it! The food was beautifully cooked, well presented and the service was excellent. Neither of us were drinking and there were a few non-alcoholic options available. I wish I’d taken photos of the food but the
dishes were simply too mouthwatering and we couldn’t resist. I had a starter of scallops, main course of monkfish and a lemon meringue to finish things off. Coffee was also perfect. It’s not a cheap meal but it’s great quality and I feel very reasonable at €58 per person for three excellent courses. Similar restaurants would charge €80+ Highly recommended - I hope I’ll be back again soon.
M. d. P.We first discovered Thyme Restaurant when we were looking for a place to eat en route from Dublin to Roscommon. We enjoyed the food so much that next time we went on holiday we planned a night in Athlone to hit this restaurant. When we visited there were two set menus, one a little more simple and the other more elaborate and interesting. The food combinations build a lot of flavours together in a very interesting way. The lamb and gnocchi was exceptional. We thought the prices very reasonable for food of this quality. The staff are all very friendly and our return trip did not disappoint. Highly recommend this as a stop off point on the way out to the West of Ireland or as a destination itself.

S. G.My favourite Midlands restaurant and a must go if you want something a bit special and different. I cannot fault it: the food is exceptional and service professional yet friendly and down to earth. Not a single misstep. My lemon meringue was sublime and the best I have ever tasted! As one other reviewer mentioned, the food is on par with some Michelin-starred restaurants. The only thing I don't like is the partition in the middle of the dining room which blocks the view and in my opinion detracts from the atmosphere but that is a very minor criticism. Go, go, go - you won't regret it!

P. W.My husband and I together with two friends went to Thyme restaurant on 29th Sepr. Social distancing in place and all staff were well versed in all aspects of care and attention . It was probably the best meal we have ever enjoyed. Food was just amazing and the flavours and presentation was a sight to behold. It was our joint anniversaries and they decorated our dessert plates ! Definitely worth a trip to Athlone just to enjoy a meal in this wonderful restaurant. A magical experience. Well done to the lovely staff.

Quite a small spot but when you walk in to this place you will be welcomed and you can ask anything about their menu and you can be sure the staff will know.
Its a more pricey place to visit but absolutely worth it.
Posh dishes in a homely environment.
Would definitely recommend if your looking for something romantic and fancy, or even different when it comes to a menu choice.
My girlfriend who was a vegetarian at the time of our first visit here had an incredible vegetarian dish whilst I had a dish that included squid.
It was delicious.

J. C.Lovely evening, great food. It initially looks sparce but there's plenty if food to fill you up. A nice treacle bread to nibble on with walnut butter, starter I had a ham hock with a fried egg - it looks like an unusual delivery, the ham shreds and chunks in a sea of foam with a crispy egg in the middle. Next I had loin of beef with beef cheek in a potato croquet, perfectly cooked, seasonal veg included potatoes and turnip. Lastly had a ginger and lime cheesecake. All delicious

We had the chicken terrine and the ham with celeriac starters and beef loin and duck mains, all of which were excellent.
The desserts were also amazing.
Highly recommend this restaurant and we'll be going back on our next visit to the west of Ireland .... Soon.

J. B.It is my birthday today and my daughter suggested Thyme Restaurant. We had never been, but will definitely be back! Really tasty, original and high quality food. The service was superb and the atmosphere and ambience comfortable and cheerful. Lovely decor, comfortable seating as well.
Only quibble: my desert Pear and Ginger Pannacota was slightly bland for my taste and serving it on a white plate did nothing to enhance it, or the hard work that went into making it.

Visiting from London where you would never get food of this quality, with so many delicate flavours for such a great price. I don’t usually trust the the number one restaurant on trip advisor to be deserving of that and not some fake review manipulation. Trust me, you can trust this.

A truly wonderful lunch served up, one of my top 10 restaurant meals in fact, the only downside was that, after the main course, there was no room for dessert.

A. P.Despite myself, I have to judge this restaurant with two opposite opinions. The quality of the products served is very high and the plating is also very well done. The environment, however, with excellent details on the walls, indicative of a search for refinement, is affected by a floor that is too poor but more than anything else by the visible presence of horrible black pipes in the ceiling air conditioning system, ask your plumber to intervene or paint and improve these details. As regards the service, I found it unacceptable to leave the cleaning tools on the vacated tables, in addition to this, another big mistake is leaving the table "dirty" when serving the dessert. Before serving the dessert, in a quality restaurant, the table must be cleaned and any residues left from previous dishes removed, there are elegant silver crumb catchers, 3 seconds of additional service but the quality and satisfaction will benefit incredibly. The asking price is on average high, as I said previously the quality is excellent and would be worth 5 stars but at that price the service must also be impeccable as well as all the details.
О. Т.I liked everything, both the food and the service, it’s not for nothing that the restaurant has 2 Michelin stars. We were a large group of 25 people, there was a queue for the toilet, perhaps this was the only negative.
