L. G.We Two families had dinner on Sunday. Fabulous food and service. Well worth it. Definitely recommend!
L. C.Lovely friendly staff...relaxed casual dining atmosphere and decor but at fine dining prices! My husband's meal featherblade beef was beautiful and tender but unfortunately both myself and my friends Venison croquet and haunch (the haunch) was extremely tough...also small portion size. Chef's complementary taster at beginning was divine so I was very disappointed with my main meal as flavour and especially texture let it down. Dessert was amazing Date and toffee pudding...also the pear and raspberry mocktails was delicious. Overall we enjoyed our night out with friends but I would definitely be reluctant to return for a meal given the size and toughness of my main dish definitely overpriced. This review is based on my own personal experience.

The menu gives plenty of choice, the staff advised re: order size per person, the decor is very quirky and cool with galvanised walls and up-cycled pallets as couches, the suppliers are all local and the food was delicious (including the salads). Highly recommend.

Was due to eat in hotel, but because of a wedding and lack of attention by staff, I opted to find somewhere else to eat. I'm I glad. I will return and bring others with me. R. I.I had found House of Plates while researching for my trip to Ireland this March. I was eager to try it, and my first meal there was yesterday’s Sunday brunch. I was and still remain utterly floored by the quality of the food; the excellent, attentive service; and the atmosphere of the restaurant. I am extremely particular about restaurants, and being vegetarian makes it even more difficult to find top-notch food. However, House of Plates truly exceeded my high expectations. Their Vegetarian Full Irish was not only exceptionally delicious, but easily the most creative version I have even eaten anywhere in many years of living and then vacationing in Ireland. Thank you for running such an ideal establishment. It is rare to find a place that delivers on all fronts—food, service, and ambiance—but you have achieved this and should be highly commended for doing so.
C. T.Varied menu with lots of choices. We had the trio of sliders, spice fries and steamed bao buns with grilled haloumi, which were all fab. And the sticky toffee pudding with honeycomb was to die for. Reasonably priced and very attentive staff. Worth a visit.

A. F.This is one of the nicest places I've ever eaten! The food is exceptional. Fresh, tasty and with a healthy twist it really is fantastic. The staff were extremely friendly, polite and helpful and great with the kids. The atmosphere was great and the place is decorated beautifully. Definitely worth a visit. It was so good we drove back another night to eat again despite it being over an hour from where we were staying.

So we picked our 3 each mains and 2 sides which as was told all served at same time. Food was lovely each dish cooked to perfection. Very good atmosphere and decor really nice. Have eaten lots of Tapas in Dublin but House of Plates surpasses them all. Will definitely be back . Staff so welcoming

The menu is incredibly extensive. The phrase "Something for everybody" is bandied about a lot these days but it really is true of this place. The staff were fantastic, from start to finish.
The only problems i had here were, the choice was too much (I wanted to try everything!), and I ate too much!!!
Do yourself a favor and check this place out. Bring a friend. In fact, bring all your friends. The plates are all intended for sharing. It's a really great concept, you get to try a lot of the menu, and really, nothing I tried on the night disappointed - everything was fresh, locally sourced, and incredibly tasty.

I ordered sea bass, bean burgers and an Indian dish with pine nuts. A large toffee cake was consumed for dessert. All for 36 euro. Excellent service with what looked like a nice wine menu.

H. S.A nice place to eat in Castlebar. It's an ever-so-slightly different eating experience in Ireland serving food sort of Tapas-Style, hence the name 'House of Plates.
The service was excellent the night three of us ate there and the very knowledgeable waiter explained their 'system' of food service which led to an enjoyable eating experience.
The dishes seem quite small but beware, it's easy to order a little too of the wide variety available of very tasty nosh on the menu.
There's a few offerings that you might not easily find in most other Irish eating places and the one's we tried were delicious.
I'd give a 5 star rating but I'm a beer drinker and the selection wasn't wide but it was quite pricey. (That'd be no distraction to a food connoisseur though)
Best to phone first to book a table. The very full restaurant with cheerful banter and smiley faces is testament to the quality of the place.
We'll eat there again if we're in Castlebar.

J. G.Fantastic little restaurant. But don't go in a large group. So the idea is you order a few dishes and share, works well in a small group. So I ordered the meat balls, fantastic taste, but imagine a small bowl of 4-5 meat balls and a table of eight. One of the other members of our party ordered the prawns, that meant half a prawn each.
Fantastic food, prices, service just not in large groups, 2 or 4 people Max. Of course you can order 2 of every dish, hindsight. Oh... and they serve craft beers, some really great beers but extremely expensive. A really good night.
Second visit, a two person siting this time, was better than the first. Great food, great tastes and because of the smaller group you can over order very easily. but it can be an expensive treat. 3 Jack the lads craft beers comes out at 19.5, but I like them, just wouldn't have them all the time. Can't fault it, but it does work out pricey but at the same time good quality value.
NB: The wifey is still Dissapointed as it is "grossly over priced" maybe it depends on what you get, I liked all dishes I ordered, but agree it's an expensive experience.
