Reviews of Cush
Beautiful food, staff seemed a little inexperienced perhaps nervous. My cappuccino was dropped to the table and my cup was very dirty on the outside with stains. The tea we ordered came with a dirty cup, a little more attention given to the front of house side of things could help the overall experience. Fantastic 3 course menu which represents great value for money. Overall I would be delighted to dine here again. Fabulous food, gorgeous views = a lovely experience.
The food is really good and the views from the restaurant across to the lighthouse are great. Staff are helpful and friendly.
The big downer is the front of house reception, wary, unwelcoming, and marked down if you are not a local.
Well worth braving her though
Went for a meal, so I can't comment on staying as a resident (yet!).
Staff here were friendly, efficient and good fun. Rather than just having an order taken and food delivered there was some great interaction which was nice after so long in lockdown and not able to get out for a meal.
The meal itself was fantastic. It might seem a little expensive, but the quality of the food was first rate. Food type is very contemporary and modern. Portion sizes to me were perfect, and it is a case of quality over quantity.
Menu offers a la cart, or set menu. Both looked very good and the focus is very much on fish. I was surprised there were no shellfish on the menu, but as said quality was great and there is bound to be something to suit as it's not 'just' seafood.
Parking was a little of a pain, but we were in Ballycotton on the hottest Saturday of the year and most spots were gone, but I think on normal circumstances it shouldn't be an issue.
Very much recommended, possibly one of the best meals I've had in county cork.
Out of this world food! Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection and presented fabulously! Everyone working there was so friendly and welcoming it made the meal there all the more special! Would definitely recommend a trip to Ballycotton for a meal here alone so if you are in the area it should definitely be on your must do list!
Get the Salted Caramel Tart!
Compliments to the chef!
Could not fault the food, absolutely gorgeous! Would have liked desserts to have been brought out together, one of us was nearly finished by the time the other one came. Lovely relaxed atmosphere.
Nice place, great views, good service, tasty food. Fish was very fresh. Deserts were a small disappointment for a price, but overall very good.Happy that Ballycotton has such a nice restaurant.
Excellent dining experience. Fantastic setting with outstanding window views. Staff were very accommodating of younger diners and provided great service all round. Food was superb and excellent value. Looking forward to returning soon.
Excellent food as always. Beautiful fresh fish, well balanced flavours and good choice for everyone. Service was a little slow which was a shame as the food is such a high quality. Might have been because of the staff shortages but lose a star for that.
Amazing food stunning views! The service wasn't great, the staff seemed inexperienced and could definitely benefit from proper training. Overall still a lovely experience
By personal invitation to The Cush restaurant my family and I were waited upon like royalty. This gem of fine foods is hidden near the harbour in Ballycotton. As you enter Cush restaurant you are met with warm and elegant staff and furnishing. The restaurant boasts beautiful, unique hand painted wall mountings of crayfish symbolizing the wide variety of seafood on their menu. Whilst being hosted by owner, Pearse Fynn himself we were treated to this fine dining experience to remember for years to come. Every carefully plated dish was perfection! The aroma of freshly prepared hand picked scallops tingled the tastebuds as we all ventured out to our first taste ever of this well known seafood delicacy. Not one but two mouth watering varieties of scallops were served. The tender steak served thereafter was just as tasty, ending our meal with a gorgeous after dinner drink. Pink champagne, delicious food and the most awesome company. Pearse you are truly a beautiful person with a heart of gold. Thank you once again for all you have done to ensure that our destination was all we never expected it to be! Beyond amazing! God willing, we will be back for sure!
Swift service, all minor menu changes were made with no fuss. Fantastic food! Only thing I would suggest with covid restrictions is to spread people around the restaurant when they come in and there is space available. I would recommend anyone visiting ballycotton to eat here!
Fantastic place to kickback and relax. The food was beautiful cooked by someone that has a love for what they do. Staff were friendly and very helpful and made our stay even more special. Stunning views of the lighthouse unreal.
Don't write reviews normally but loved this place so had
We had the most amazing time in the bar in cush recently . Thanks to James and his fab assistant they both kept the cocktails flowing and kept a few us girls happy . Fantastic experience.
A truly magnificent meal was had here by myself and my husband, exquisite cooking and presentation and service friendly and efficient without being effusive.
I ordered from the a la carte and my husband the table d'hote at a very reasonable 36.00 euro for three courses.
I began with the scallops, small and succulent with a cauliflower veloute, my husband had the potato croquettes with a crispy hens egg.and smoked haddock. Some lovely seeded bread preceeded the starters. My main was monkfish with wilted broccoli and Queen's potatoes bathed in seaweed butter, incredible! A razor clam jus bathed the fish.
My husband had the hake which was perfectly cooked, crispy skin and moist inside
The desserts were heavenly; a salted caramel tart which was the perfect blend of salty and sweetness and was not cloying.
My panacotta with strawberry jelly, fresh strawberries and honeycomb was light and delicious.
This was one of the best meals I have had in years! Well done to the chef and staff.
We ate here the night after our wedding. Food was amazing and hospitality even better.
What a location.
What a view.
What food.
What staff
What service....
What a wonderful restaurant, and Covid compliant. Loved it
Lovely atmosphere, fabulous food & great friendly service by friendly staff
Food was amazing and the staff were very attentive, would definitely go there again 👌👍☺️
I can see now why so many people recommend Cush! It was phenomenal!! The staff were lovely and the scenary was breathtaking. We will definitely be back.
I loved it ! Great experience myself and the misses loved it. James was great behind the bar.
A wonderful place to spend a few days relaxing and enjoy wonderful food too. The food pairing combinations was very clever, delicious! A super wine list too, they must have their own sommelier hidden somewhere!
The welcome and service from all the staff made the stay even more enjoyable. Loved how the Cush restaurant, bar and rooms were done out too. Amazing beautiful views of the pier and the lighthouse to top it off. Thanks to team Cush for ensuring I had a fabulous break. I look forward to seeing you all again and hope you have a wonderful summer!
Had the great pleasure to eat here recently. Great restaurant room made really special by the views which were incredible and there was a warm welcome from all the staff. Had the ham croquettes as a pre-starter and wow they were great, which bode well for the starters and mains which were equally excellent and in particular I'd highly recommend the house fish pie - yum. It was popular on the night. Would highly recommend Cush if you're in the area.
Top notch! We are just back from a night in Cush and it certainly was impressive. Great food, very friendly and helpful staff and a great view.
A most enjoyable evening with good fine dining, good service.
excellent food quality and great service.
After visiting Ballycotten Lighthouse we took a chance on a walk~in for something to eat before we started the long drive home. As is the norm now with the covid restrictions we waited at the door to see if they had any available seating for 4, and she explained that they had a booking at 7.30 so there was enough time {75min}for us to enjoy the fabulous view from the restaurant.
Being in a fishing village we couldn't help but have some lovely local fish dishes and the lad's had top quality fish goujons.
The staff were lovely and very aware of how to deal with the current regulations in a professional manner..
All in all enjoyed the meal, good value and would definitely recommend.
The food was very good however the service was a bit lacking particularly for the prices paid. Whispering to each other when asked about a table, waiting ages to even place a drinks order, when ordering drinks being stopped and asked if we would be eating as they dont just serve coffee. The waitresses were also clearly discussing something and pointing at is as well while we were waiting. The food took a very long time, my husband had changed what he was ordering as he had been told what he wanted would take 25 minutes, our meals took longer than this anyway (fish and medium rare steak), the mug and saucer for my cappacino had coffee grounds on it. Cost us €80 for two adults and one child to eat and two adults and two children to have one drink each. This would be fine if the service was at the same level as the food.
It's a very good restaurant.
Good service
Nicely decorated for Christmas.
Very comfy chairs.
Beautiful view.
And last but not least, the food....so delicious, tasty with some perfect flavours associations. It's like the highest standards of the best French restaurants.
It was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended, a real treat.
Dining as it should be, words just can't describe the food here.. It has to be tasted to be believed and the staff everyone of them simply fantastic.
Management and staff of CUSH take a bow.
I have to say this place is stunning! I was so impressed that I lost my words. I love seafood and in this place I had the best chowder ever. I ate chowder all over the place in Ireland but this one has something special. I am sure all the other dishes are fantastic because they look amazing. I liked the view from the window and the staff that were helpful and caring. Big like for this place and definitely recommend!
The food is excellent however the overall stay was only average. No hot breakfast and was directed to the local shop for a coffee in the morning. Appreciate current restrictions however could do better in this regard.
We had a lovely lunch of scallops with lobster bisque washed down with guinness & red wine. Service was excellent & friendly. A true gem under the present circumstances.
As we live local we only went for dinner. Food is superb, service with a smile, location stunning.
As one of the party was a coeliac, the only "complaint" we had, there was not enough choice. In a day with lots of allergies this could easily be resolved.
Excellent accommodation although our room was a bit on the small size. Good powerful shower with loads of hot water. Very friendly staff. A welcome pack wd be a good addition in the room giving details of local interests. Breakfast only available after 9 at weekend which didn't suit us as we had early appointments for a wedding. Food was wonderful although smokey bacon is no to everyone's taste
One of the best foods I ever aet! Amazing staff, beautiful and intimate decoration, perfect for celebrating ocasions or for a date! Well presented plates and impeccable flavor! This restaurant deserves more then only 5 stars!
To us this place is a 5 ⭐️ The food was high quality, the staff extremely friendly and the overall service was highly attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our time there. Hats off to Malvina for making our evening so special. We would definitely be coming back again and we will definitely recommend Pier 26 to all our friends and family.
Highly recommended for a great romantic evening.
Had 2 great nights here. Great service, excellent food and good drink. Nice restaurant and great atmosphere in the bar area. There was a great little band on the Sunday night and to top it off a free courtesy car to drop you back! Can’t recommend this place enough...looking forward to coming back!
One of the best meals I've ever eaten without a doubt! This restaurant is a must visit in Ballycotton - the staff there is welcoming and attentive throughout your meal. The restaurant itself is updated and decorated beautifully with a wonderful view of the water. As for the food it was one of the best dining experiences I have had in quite some time. From our entrees to dessert my entire party all enjoyed every bite and are still talking about what a treat it was days later. I wish I lived closer but will be back!
Fabulous food, lovely atmosphere and fantastic views. Best evening we've had in a long time... Well done Cush, we will be back 👍
Amazing food. A hidden gem
Nice all around dining experience. Cordial staff, comfortable dining room, and a world class view. Food was very nice. However, if you're looking for a heaping portion of super-fresh fish and chips and an excellent price, there is a much better option in Ballycotton.
We had an excellent Sunday lunch, the roast beef was perfectly cooked. Would recommend booking a table by the window to get the nice view of the harbour and sea.
Delicious meal, seasonal local food when possible, fabulous knowledgeable staff, all round a super experience, over looking Ballycotton Harbour watching the fishermen dock with their catch of fresh fish.
We'll be back very soon again
Thank you to all involved.
Great food. Fab staff. 10/10, would recommend to a friend! The food is far superior to the Castlemartyr resort.
Amazing food, amazing staff and unbelievable views from the comfort of the modern style restaurant. A bit on the expensive side but everything is fresh and locally sourced so you wouldn't mind paying the extra few bob to invest in the community
Sunday lunch 3rd Nov No CREAM In
Kitchen for an Irish coffee. come on kitchen!!
Lady was celebrating a birthday, offered cappachino instead.
Still giving 5 stars, look it is more expensive than other sunday lunch establishments but you will not get the fantastic choice on menu anywhere else pheasant ,duck , venison , fresh fish and steak this is only a few samples of what's on offer
Staff and service excellent, food can not fault
Lemon soufflé to die for!!
Lovely restraint and very cozy pub. Extremely friendly, very highly recommended for a quick snack or a night out. Regular music in the pub, a young lad called Cathal playing when we were there.
An extraordinarily quintessential experience at the fabulous jewel in the ethereal harbour village of Ballycotton. A warm and welcoming staff served up beautiful hot desserts on a clear but squally afternoon. We look forward frequenting this fine establishment upon our next visit to County Cork.
Superb food, very well presented by friendly attendant staff in very surroundings with spectacular views during daylight hours. The adjacent bar is an excellent bonus.
Managed to visit the place on a really sunny day so sat down and enjoyed the view and food. Planning to come back again some time for their dinner.
Was expecting food to be better. Had the wild mushroom omelette for breakfast and it was quite lacking in the mushroom.
Staff and location are very good although there are no parking facilities.
Enjoyed an excellent dinner (mussels, chowder, pan seared scallops with gnocchi and chanterelle mushrooms and great pizzas) in a very relaxing bar atmosphere. Impressed by the wine list also offering Austrian organic Riesling by the glass.
Came here after reading a newspaper article about the place. Cosy place, great menu. My only complaint was that my seafood dish came with a slice of bacon on top of it which they didn't mention beforehand. I do eat bacon but some seafood lovers may not - including the (mostly) vegetarian person I was dining with, which meant they couldn't sample my dish.
Food is exceptional but service is poor. Would still go back however, nice set up and views.
3 of us went there yesterday. We were for the first sitting only having the main course, waited one hour and then I went up to the counter a d was told sorry. They had forgotten about us. When it came to paying the bill I was offered a free coffee which I thought was a pure insult.
Great location, don't get any better. Awesome Sea food chowder!
Delicious food. Lovely staff.
Lovely food and atmosphere
Beautiful food lovely setting and excellent service
Superb restaurant- first class food matched by friendly professional service.Best meal we have had for a long time - at good price level.Magnificant views over the harbour and bay.We will return.
Very good seafood restaurant but busy and under pressure to vacate the table .
This is for my U.S. friends thinking of visiting Ireland. We thought the food at Pier 26 was worth the drive to Ballycotton alone. We've had fresh seafood in New Orleans, San Francisco, and Monte Rey on the pier. The food we had in Ballycotton was among the best we've eaten.
Beautiful freshly cooked food with nice food over the harbour, able to take desert away. Would recommend booking in advance due to business and popularity
Amazing gem in Ballycotton. Excellent food and views. The staff are brilliant too. 5 stars from me...
Absolutely amazing, had scallops to start and hake for my mains, all amazing will definitely be back.
I had a lovely lunch here
The food was really good....its been a long time I haven't had such tasty scallops
Great place in a small town called Ballycotton. After the cliffwalk we ended our day with a great meal. We shared our rissotto and dessert. That was no problem. Chocalate dessert we can really recomend.
Great food in a great location! Give yourself a lot of time as the food take quite a while to be served but it is fully worth the wait!
Amazing food, great service from the waitress and lovely view of the harbour. If you like sea food you'll love here!
Lovely food, lovely customers and the barmaid was great craic too. I'd have loved to have stayed longer but had to drive. Hopefully return soon.
Excellent fresh fish complemented with beautiful veg. Really enjoyed it. Ask for table with a harbour view
The food and staff are excellent
Amazing food and service from start to finish!!! First time there but definitely not the last...highly recommend a visit
Excellent fish and chips in the bar. The deserts were amazing and lovely coffee.

A great spot to stop when in Ballycotton, open for Brunch, Lunch and Dinner. Try their Eggs Benedict with fresh Hollandaise. Wonderful
Lovely food..but very noisy group.

Old traditional Irish pub where you can have a good meal.
Best breakfast I’ve had in years. French toast 10/10.
Super friendly with excellent food.
From here you can take a boat and go to Lighthouse, but sometime you can be surprised because bad weather or not many tourists and boat trip can be cancelled
Food very nice.cosy little spot.staff nice
Great food and with a window seat great views
Excellent food.... great views
Nice place. Child friendly. Excellent food.
Amazing breakfast and hospitality from the owners superb
Tasty food reasonable priced lovely staff
The red mullet is excellent, the coffee not so much. The banana souffle had not enough banana taste or too much egg one. The seafood chowder is an interesting take on a classic and good.
Lovely food with a great atmosphere
If you love fresh seafood at perfect cuisson served with a smile!

First class.
Very friendly bar man gerry.
Fantastic Seafood
The best of East Cork
Excellent.
Friendly staff
Very good service, cozy place for an evening. Food only good, value for money very poor. Expensive and not adequate to the price. The appearance of the plate is not everything, the taste sensations were lacking. I've been there and I definitely won't come back. But see for yourself if it's worth it.
A typical Irish pub with very pleasant service. However, I am removing one star because in my opinion the dishes are not worth the price. Very good that said but the plate is not generous.
Excellent address! The restaurant is located a stone's throw from the port, the view overlooks the Ballycotton lighthouse, very very pleasant.
Regarding the food, it was perfect, taste, fresh and quality products all for a very reasonable price. You can go there with your eyes closed!
Small restaurant on the shore of the pier of a picturesque fishing village. We ate truly delicious dishes based on very fresh local fish.
Excellent restaurant, an excellent chef, very friendly staff, dishes where everything is fresh and tasteful and also tastefully done. Recommended!
(Translated) We eat well but nothing special, I honestly expected a little more (mussels for example were full of sand) .. the service is great.
(Original)
Si mangia bene ma niente di speciale, mi aspettavo onestamente un po' in più (le cozze ad esempio erano piene di sabbia)..il servizio è ottimo.
(Translated) Super delicious food, great ambience!
Service a bit slow but very friendly 😊 fits in well with this quiet, picturesque place
(Original)
Super leckeres Essen, tolles Ambiente!
Service etwas langsam aber sehr freundlich 😊 passt toll in diesen ruhigen malerischen Ort
Nice warm atmosphere and service. It's not very romantic, but you can always count on good coffee, beer, and snacks.
I've eaten much better. In addition, if Check the invoice if a menu was ordered. Was debited individually 😉
Lovely place, very good food and great courtesy as it is not easy to find!
Great food. The mussels and the fish are recommended.
Delicious food, higher prices and atmosphere, great view
